I didn’t expect a fake family to become this wholesome and entertaining.
The basic setup is hilarious: a spy needs to create a family for a mission, but his wife is secretly an assassin and his daughter can read minds. Watching them all hide their secrets from each other creates so many funny situations.
I especially loved Anya. Her reactions and the way she misunderstands everything made me laugh constantly. Loid and Yor are also great because they’re both incredibly capable but completely clueless about each other’s real identities.
The animation fits the bright, fun tone really well, while the action scenes are surprisingly good. It isn’t a story I watch for deep drama, but the characters make it easy to care about.
It can be a little repetitive at times, but whenever the Forger fam…

If you want to watch the most discombobulated family ever, Spy X Family is your perfect show.
Jokes aside, Spy X Family is an incredible show. It gives good comedy, the most confusing blooming romance (possibly??) I've ever seen, and some ridiculously well-animated fights. It's peaceful, chaotic, and wholesome all at the same time. I'm not trying to confuse you, don't get me wrong. The show is amazing, almost perfect in terms of adaptation and storytelling. The best part about this show for me was the development of this family's relationship.
Let's start with Lloyd. He's a brickhead. Literally. But he is a family man at heart, and we all love Lloyd. He is so smart that literally anything that isn't reasonable just flies right by his head, and it is hilarious, which is exactly where Yor…

A colorful noir-like comedy that combines spy action with goofy characters. The show is a chaotic mishmash of action-espionage, funny moments, and wacky interactions. Despite how ridiculous the premise sounds, the writing for Spy x Family is surprisingly well-executed. Essentially, three people agree to create a fake family for their own personal interests. However, neither family member knows the true identity of the other. As a result, each of them would try to interpret the other's behavior. And it's entertaining to see everyone's reactions when they completely miss the mark. Basically it's the characters' funny reactions, internal monologues, and wacky facial expressions that make this show a treat to watch. What's interesting about Spy x Family is how it takes inspiration from Cold-Wa…

I feel a bit of a sell-out by doing something trendy rather than classic for my big 100th review. "Spy x Family" by Wit Studio and CloverWorks has certainly taken the anime world by storm with its entertaining premise of a trio masquerading as a proper family to further clandestine operations. It's not the first time it's been done, but action and comedy are always hard to mix without disappointing everyone. Fortunately, I think "SxF" does well for both.
The show has chosen the fine time of the Cold War in the 1960s to pick its setting. This was the time of James Bond, classics like "The Avengers" (no, not *that* one) and "Mission: Impossible" were also set in a similar time period as were the John le Carré spy novels. No time can be more ripe for another glorious espionage piece. The Eu…

My first impression of Spy x Family is that it’s a very safe anime. While entertaining, it’s notably unwilling to deviate from the path it charts out in the early episodes and this kind of progression will make or break the experience depending on the viewer. Its core issue is that it feels unwilling to capitalize on its more interesting elements and instead utilizes them as comedic devices rather than core aspects of the show itself. While the show does have a moderate amount of forward momentum, the constant reliance on these central bits rather than the development of these elements holds it back from being more than simple entertainment.
Not that simple entertainment is necessarily a bad thing, nor does the show frame itself as something which is striving to be something more. I found…

A work with an extremely different premise.
Spy x Family was an anime that caught my attention precisely because it manages to mix elements that normally work separately in other works. We usually see anime focused only on espionage, only on professional assassins, or only on characters with psychic powers, but here the work brings all of that together at the same time. We have an elite spy, a professional assassin, and a telepathic child living as an ordinary family, something I honestly never expected to see work so well, haha.
The great charm of the work lies precisely in this different premise. Because it's so unusual within the world of anime, everything ends up being interesting to follow. The curiosity of seeing how these characters will hide their secrets while trying to maintain…

I can see why people rock with this anime, but me personally? It was super mid. It’s basically a slice-of-life sitcom anime with spy themes sprinkled in. If you coming in expecting jaw-dropping moments, crazy plot twists, edge-of-your-seat suspense, or real danger where it feel like somebody might die… you not getting that here.
This is more of a chill family anime, and that’s cool for the people who like that vibe, it’s just not my cup of tea.
Now I’ll keep it real: the animation was clean, and the fight scenes were actually pretty decent for a family-style anime. They definitely put effort into that. But Anya? Man… the daughter was super annoying to me. And I got kids, so that says something lol.
But overall, every episode felt predictable and random. One episode about…

Spy X Family is a sweetly semi-serious comedy slice of life anime about found family, spycraft, character dynamics, hidden agendas, a child in school & occasional Mr & Mrs Smith smoke & mirrors. There is action but little in comparison to the family & school sequences.
The cast are goofballs with exaggerated skill sets & dedicated goals but each has their own charm & character that amplifies each other's presence in conjunction with the animation & art. The family consist of three characters & auxillary associations yet despite the former 2/3 are the focal point of the season.
Loid is one of the best spies in the country, master of his craft, lying & disguise. He is arguably the main lead given the focus on his thoughts, actions and direction for the story, AND the impact it has on the…

Spy x Family certainly has a lot going on from all directions with the way the world is centered and loosely based on actual history combined with the way this make shift family came about and the means to each end it serves.
That in itself is not a bad thing but I hope it holds up through the seasons. Speaking only to what is in this season I think it does well to lay the ground work of whatever is to come. There are parts of each character of the family that shine for me and a big part of that has to do with the way they themselves are trying to adapt and mold as their makeshift family. A lot of comedy in season one was very enjoyable because of this dynamic which is a big draw for the popularity of the show I am sure. I do hope they build on other things in coming seasons though. An ex…

Spy x Family, or more apt, Reddit: The Anime.
If you want something besides "wholesome Loid x Yor moment", you'll be sorely disappointed. It's just bad gag reels over and over again - once you've read the premise, you've seen the show, because it doesn't grow beyond its core gimmick. The show's terrible writing is apparent early on - Loid is supposed to be a world-class spy, yet still blushes and gets flustered around women. This is, of course, because the anime doesn't want him to lose relatability points - god forbid we alienate the audience in any way.
Besides that, nothing in this anime feels natural. Ah yes, the wife happens to be an assassin, and her brother happens to be a secret state agent... it's just a bunch of out-of-place gimmicks interacting with each other - forget charact…

I loved Spy x Family. The show does an excellent job of balancing spy thriller suspense, heartfelt family life, and sometimes outright comedy. The plot itself is actually fairly straightforward, with Twilight undertaking the mission to infiltrate the elite school and gain access to a high-level political target. The twist is in how the show combines that with the found-family concept. I liked the constant back and forth of Twilight, juggling spy missions with trying to be a normal father. That dynamic is both humorous and touching, and it propelled me through the story.
The characters are easily the highlight of the show. Twilight is an excellent protagonist. He might come across as cold and calculating, but he shows surprising warmth as Loid Forger. Watching him gradually come to care fo…

Spy x Family is a catchy anime with amazing funny scenes, intertwined with spy action. It works a bit on the principle of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, but the comedy side, the added "basics" and the possibility to completely detach yourself from the action helps it a lot. The beginning of the series is absolutely great and definitely does not let you go, unfortunately the second part of the first season is a bit weaker and starts to divide the episodes, while their second parts are often very weak. Fortunately, season 2 is quite good again. The characters pull the story and fit together incredibly well, the best character is the telepath Anya, with whom there are always absolutely divine funny scenes in the series and I absolutely love it when she makes her malicious smile somewhere. I'm looking forw…

# Spyxfamily review
I am not a fan of kids, I hate them with a passion. However, Anya stole my heart immediately! I laughed and I smiled so much watching this show, it is truly what I needed after a bad break up. Anya is the most adorable and beautiful girl ever! Though, Yor is equally beautiful and drop dead sexy. I love Yor's outfit.
I've watched a lot of shows and Anya is by far the most expressive character I have ever seen! I absolutely love and adore all her faces she makes and her personality. I'm in love.
There was one extremely weird part about this series, and it came out of nowhere. I won't spoil anything, but it was so random and at least for me, kinda left a permanent, negative impression regarding a particular relationship.
I loved this show so much, binged it in 3…

"It's all that and more"
It's time to talk about the most famous anime of all time; and in the end, is it so good as eveyone says? and the answer is: yes, but not without explaining why. First, we have to recognize the studio dedication in every detail of the show, even if it's not overall satisfying, everything is made in a high level of quality, and that's why "SPYxFamily" is what it is.
"SPYxFamily" is a comedy/romance with action elements, a story about a post-war scenario between two countries with a broken peace, the plot works around to maintain that peace at any means necessary, even to create a whole pretend family; although being such a exciting idea, the result is not exactly. One point that most disappointed was the fact that the series chooses to go full "casual", an…

Spy × Family builds its story around an absurd yet strangely heartfelt premise. In a world inspired by Cold War tensions between two rival nations, Westalis and Ostania, a master spy known by the codename Loid Forger receives a mission that requires something unusual even for an elite agent. The assignment, called Operation Strix, demands infiltration of an elite political circle in Ostania in order to observe a powerful figure named Donovan Desmond. The problem is that the target rarely appears in public and only attends social gatherings connected to his child’s prestigious school. The solution forces Loid into unfamiliar territory. A fake family must be created in order to enroll a child at the elite Eden Academy and gain access to the social world surrounding the Desmond family. What b…

7.6/10
Easy to watch anime. Something to watch when ydk what to watch. I will say not to take it too seriously because it ruins the fun of the anime. I had a lot of questions regarding the charcters and the world which kinda docked some points for me. I didnt really like Yuri's character... I feel like its a bit overkill. They also made Yor's character quite simple which is sad after seeing how complex Loid is. Ok intros and outros nothing life changing. If I were to question everyt in the anime it would be like a 5/10 for me.
So, I recommend to just not question anyt and relax if you wanna watch Spy X Family. Thats what I did and easily binged the whole thing in 2 days.

I loved this so much. I think it's because it focused on family but also some detective stories at the same time. I was genuinely so sad when I finished the 2 seasons... I can't wait until the next one comes out though. I loved the bounds that each characters created between each other, as people who used to struggle with that, they are like 3 outcasts who met and formed a family. It made me feel sad about my family at this point lmfao. I think people will like it even if they don't want animes in general. The story was not that predictable, sometimes maybe it was a little bit cliché but it was so great for so many other aspects that we are not even thinking about this detail. The art style was cool as well.

*This is a review of both parts of the first season.*
Spy x Family is an anime that excels in terms of how several very different stories intersect. The first story would be of the spy Loid, codename Twilight. He is one of the best spies of Westalis and is operating in the middle of Ostania — wherein Ostania and Westalis are essentially fictional versions of Cold War East and West Germany. As such, Loid is constantly given high stakes missions. These range from hunting down national secrets to preventing assassinations. This isn’t always taken completely seriously, and occasionally you get things like the missions involving extreme tennis tournaments. But for the most part, the spycraft is authentic as you would expect from a spy anime and is quite exciting. The writing even deals with so…

It's a little weird that this is part one of the first season. This is my third or fourth time I've seen this anime for the fun of it. First time was either on Hulu or Crunchyroll and second time with one or the other. Now seeing it again and can say it still holds up being one of my all-time favorites when it comes to anime. The same goes for the manga as I would be reading a new volume as soon as it's out while adding it to my collection. Certainly one for anyone who is looking for some spy action, some silly quirky humor and a breather with a pretend family.
As speaking of the family, let's talk about them. The story starts off with Agent Twilight, one of WISE's best agents who is given a mission to spy on Donovon Desmond, he leader of the National Unity Party within Ostania, yet Twilig…

Spy X Family is a good anime dont get me wrong however i feel like the anime adaptation took way too many careless liberties with the story that damage the characters especially for a manga i consider so damn well done
I also feel like Yor behaves way more childishly, clumsily, sadistically and stupidly than in the original, rendering her this more shallow, assassination craved male gaze booba woman than the deeply touching trying-to-be mother with her own very interesting backstory and skills that i learned to love in tatsuya's work
I also feel like the first opening is very confused on what its trying to be, throwing a lot of styles at the wall to look artistic with little sense of direction
The song used was great however and the entire ED was awesome
