The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting

The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting

Introduction

Tooru Kirishima's notoriety is spread far and wide in the underworld. He is most commonly known as "The Demon of Sakuragi"—a man who is not afraid to resort to violence if deemed necessary. After almost jeopardizing a peace treaty, his boss tasks him with the most difficult job he has ever had: taking care of seven-year-old Yaeka Sakuragi—the boss' precious daughter—so that Tooru understands what it means to be responsible for another life. At first, the two do not seem to meet eye to eye, as Tooru has no clue on how to communicate with Yaeka, and the young girl is not used to expressing her emotions. However, as time goes on, they come to understand each other despite their differences. The fearsome right-hand man of a yakuza boss and the child he must protect are about to learn that family is not always bound by blood. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

This is so cute! Story-wise, it is definitely lacking and it falls quite flat but the show is worth watching just for Yaeka-chan! If you like Buddy Daddies, Sweetness and Lightning, or Usagi Drop - you should definitely give this a watch as it has very similar themes. The art style really adds to the show, and it does great to emphasise the cuteness aspect of the anime. Expect big eyes with lots of expression. Characters were honestly quite flat, with only the MC having a semi-fleshed out backstory but this isn't explored well and there's no real explanation for the MC's behaviour/personality.

The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting delivers a surprising blend of action, comedy, and heartwarming slice-of-life. At the center of the story, there is a reformed yakuza member, Tooru Kirishima, who finds himself tasked with caring for the young daughter of his boss. Initially accustomed to violence, hierarchy, and the rigid codes of the underworld, Tooru gradually navigates the unpredictable challenges of childcare. Learning patience, empathy, and the subtler forms of responsibility contrast sharply with his prior life. The narrative balances the comedic dissonance of a hardened gangster with the emotional development that emerges from genuine bonds of trust and care. The story excels in character-driven humor and heartfelt growth. Tooru’s interactions with the child highlight both the absu…

The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting is an underrated anime. It doesn't fall in the common genres we generally talk about. It's about a yakuza(Kirishima) who takes an unusual job and that is to babysit a 7 year old girl(Yaeka) of his boss. This anime beautifully showcases the humor, love and unexpected tenderness and no matter how tough the man shows on the outside, it's really soft from the inside💪🏻❤The way the yakuza shows love towards the girl is heart melting💖And the girl was so damn cutee and her va has done a great job portraying her. She nailed it. The way she talks is so adorable that you gonna fall in love🥹❤ The relationship between them is a treat to watch. There are few emotional moments which can bring tear to your eye😪 This anime explores the theme of family, vulnerability a…

"Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting" imo, is a misleading title 😂I was expecting something similar to how "The Way of the Househusband" did it however, this one had a story and more than just babysitting. plainly, this anime is more about Kirishima Tooru's life has a feisty yakuza and his soft-spot for their boss's daughter Yaeka - who is super cute I liked her a lot actually. there was no guide on how Tooru babysits Yaeka so yes, i'm right in my opinion. story - good except that one "streaming" episode characters - good too animation - good soundtrack/songs - decent i guess cause nothing stuck to me as noteworthy it's a solid 7.5

Yaeka, the boss's daughter is very very cute. So cute that you might forget about how plain the rest of the anime is. Tooru wins over Yaeka in one episode, so there really is not much development between the two. Similarly, Tooru's personality mellows out by the 1st episode. Also, Tooru is somehow the perfect babysitter and knows exactly what to say to Yaeka. If Tooru is so good at understanding others' emotions and communicating, why does he often resort to violence? The serious scenes with yakuzas are... tame, which I guess is expected of a slice of life. If you want to see a cute and wholesome girl grow and make more friends, you should give this a watch. But, if you are looking for more in-depth character development and relationships, you might not like this.

I wanted to like this series a lot more than I actually did. I am a sucker for stories about dads taking care of cute little kids, and this show did give me enough of that that I still felt mildly positive about it in the end, but this is a case of wasted potential more than anything else. The central problem here is a lack of conflict, which is a surprise given the premise. Instead of a fish out of water comedy about a thug that's wholly unsuited to take care of a child, Kirishima (the main character) easily adapts, and he and Yaeka (the little girl he babysits) are inseparable by the end of the first episode. Similarly, all the hard edges have been filed off of the yakuza here and they're treated as essentially indistinguishable from legitimate businessmen. The show is very careful to n…

A slice-of-life with a twist. "Kumichou Musume to Sewagakari" blends the everyday of taking care of a 7-year-old with the excitement of being in a Yakuza family. For the most part, I think it does a great job of establishing characters and showing their growth over the course of the 12 episodes. There is an overall familty-centric vibe to the whole thing as the darker yakuza half of the premise often is only present in short increments. This uses the trope of "scary mean character is actually a sweetheart" fairly well. The daughter, Yaeka-chan, is well written and (in my opinion) avoids many of the tropes that can make younger characters annoying. It is heartwarming to watch her grow just as much as the other characters. Say what you will about it, this anime does portray family values…

A good breather from depressing shows. If you enjoy cute kids in anime, this anime won't disappoint. The yakuza baby sitter show is everything you expected it to be from the title; tough yakuza man taking care of an adorable girl and some hijinks. While it does nothing new with the story beat, the characters are engaging. It's cute without forcing kawaiiiii scenes. The main girl, Yaeka, is an introvert which makes you root for her little interactions. The yakuza characters seem too tame for their career, although the show did not shy away from some dark moments. The character interactions are wholesome for the most part, with some cliche yakuza being yakuza scenes. Animation is cute and perfect for the show, with no particular inconsistency. An overall breezy watch. I watched it after sob…

The best way to describe Kumichou is that it had all the necessary ingredients to make an excellent pastry, but it was never prepared or baked properly, and instead was left unfinished on the kitchen counter. The seasonal model of 12 eps has once again butchered an excellent show, because it was obvious that there simply was not enough time to flesh out everything. It's a shame because this story, while simple in its premise, had the support of a studio(s) that clearly cared about their craft. If the source material was more plentiful, and if more advertisement went into this title, it could have easily become one of the most popular anime of the year. A second season is not only desired by its fans, but necessary to do the story justice. --------------------------------------------------…

Title: The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting - An Unusual Blend of Comedy and Heartwarming Moments Rating: 7/10 The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting is a unique anime series that combines comedy, action, and heartwarming moments in an unexpected way. With its offbeat premise and endearing characters, this anime offers an entertaining and surprisingly heartfelt experience. The story revolves around Kuro, a former yakuza member who finds himself thrust into the role of a babysitter when he stumbles upon an abandoned baby. As he reluctantly takes on this unexpected responsibility, Kuro navigates the challenges of childcare while also dealing with his own past and the presence of rival yakuza gangs. One of the strengths of The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting lies in its comedic elements. The anime…

This anime was good but it was underwhelming for the most part. It's not that I didn't like it. I really enjoyed watching all the characters really grow and develop the relationships. Watching Yeaka really come out of her shell and how deeply Kirishima cared for was wonderful (Anytime the premise is "Tough guy who has no paternal instincts suddenly has a kid who he ends up loving more than life" I'm going to watch it). The animation was good, very clean and nice to watch. And the comedy was fun, I loved how goofy they made all these tough guys. But when I finished the last episode I just felt underwhelmed. I heard so much hype around this show and a lot of people totally loved it but it just didn't hit that way for me. It didn't envelop me the way similar premise animes had, like Usagi D…

Emotionally damaged character, add in a small adorable child with her own trauma and you get one of the most emotionally heartfelt, sweetest animes ever to be produced. Quickly became a top favourite even more than spyxfamily. Interesting side characters, and moments that tug at your heart strings. This seems to be a popular genre currently and whilst others have come out, very few have made me feel like this. Eagerly awaiting more! Art style is so soft and vibrant, fitting for the environments of both harsh and sweet moments whilst the MC not only does the eng VA of jonah scott have the perfect voice, also appearing in a similar "Yakuza" themed anime but actually displays active change and improvement.

A perfect balance between wholesome relationship building and gritty reality of the life of someone who lives in the world of the Yakuza Plot: Kirshima is the first lieutenant to the Sakuragi family. Often referred to as "The Demon of Sakuragi", he is the 'no holds barred' kind of combatant, who can and will steamroll anyone who gets between him and the family. As a dangerous enforcer, there is very little that holds Kirishima back from being the rebel that he is. That is, until the boss of the family, gives Kirishima the task of becoming the babysitter for his only daughter, Yaeka. Not knowing how to care for a child, or how to follow rules, it is clearly a difficult task for the Demon of Sakuragi. Denouncing his old ways, he begins to slowly adapt to the life as being the caretaker for…

I dont like to write a long paragraph so here I go. The first episode started off strong by introducing a different premise to other slice of life anime and that lead off to a good start with a lot of interesting materials to work with. But over the episodes, I tend to get a little bored sometimes due to the silence of the show and with the same out slice of life plot that did not interest me at all, and my expectations graduallly dropped. But since its only the first season if theres more, theres potential that the plot thickens and gets interesting. Overall for now, its a "decent" anime. Althought the anime is average, in my opinion, Yaeka carried cause shes very cute and kind, and for that it beats anya from last season by a bit. Just my opinion

This anime is such a cute lighthearted one. I enjoyed every single episode and it always had me crying some happy tears. The characters are so much fun and all of them are very interesting. The dynamics are amazing. The ost is cute and nice. The artstyle is one of my favorites in a while. I dont have much to say besides this anime being such a fun and good watch, its a nice break from all the anxiety others give. It doesnt have much story but i think thats what makes it even nicer. Many people won't be able to enjopy this if they are looking for a lot of action. I love how they showed the backstories of the main characters and i wish i could protect Kirishima and Sugihara from every bad thing that happened in their childhood, but if i had, we would have never gotten such a good and ch…

So, this was a surprise. This anime was not even on my radar, I had skimmed the synopsis and read the words "Underworld" and "demon" and expected a mediocre fantasy that I would likely watch at a later point, only when I read it properly did I realise I had been wrong with my initial impression, and I decided to give it a try. As soon as the opening credits were over, I knew this was going to be a series that I was going to enjoy, and after just the first episode, I was already thinking, this could very well wind up being my 'anime of the season' This is very much like Barakamon in its core theme, an adult has an obvious personality flaw, and is a volatile incomplete person, and it's with the introduction of a young child, and various others around them, that they start to temper their…

This is a really wholesome anime and you can see the main character(mc) builds up a soft side for the kid as they get closer. The mc had a lot of childhood memories and uses them as an example to make hers better. It addresses a lot of problems we have today and how difficult it is to set a kid on whatever you think the "right" path is. She's slowly learning and her character development is great. I’m writing this review kind of late so I don’t remember exactly what happened, but I would definitely re-watch it. All the relationships are really cute and there isn’t any toxicity and I don’t hate any of the characters. Its the perfect slice of life that will still keep you hooked onto the next episode.

Man, someone be cutting onions while I was watching this. Such a heart warming show. The tale of a violent and troublesome Yakuza taking care of the most kindest of sweet things in the world. Had I not watch this show, I'd regret missing this masterpiece. That's the only what I can describe this show, a pure masterpiece. Wholesome and it just captures you in awe with every episode. Never had I seen something so beautiful in awhile. There show is also comedic with the stereotypes of yakuza and delinquents. Nonetheless, this is probably one of the best Yakuza anime I've seen since "The way of the Househusband". Except that show is more comedic than heartwarming. This show aims to aim at your heartstrings, so be prepared to cry in alot of events. Like I said, nothing short of a masterpiece.…

an interesting anime with babysitting and crime. I overall enjoyed it. I loved how the friendship between then grew. I feel so bad for the mom. the small fights were entertaining, if you like Spy x Family this also may be a good anime for you. It doesn't entirely have what Spy x Family has. but it has its own moments and wholesomeness. the artstyle was great, I loved the eyes and how well detailed they were. the characters in the story were okay. some were generic and some were interesting to say the least. the story is unique and I hope it gets a second season in the future. this is one of the animes people missed this season.

Now where to start with this ? The premise sounds really weird doesn't it ? Well what did you expect ? You should know by now that these japanese are not thinking like the rest of us. Still what a fresh air to breathe it was. The story is about a Yakuza murderer, violent, and so on, that really knows how to break some bones. Then his boss sees that maybe that trait was annoying ? My boy really is like a stray dog so he went out his way and asked him to babysit his daughter. Now the story revolves around their adventures. How they try to better themselves and overcome their own hardships. Don't ask me man, they always get me with this kind of wholesome series. The characters are really enjoyable, and even though they got nearly not enough time to develop everyone in depth, you can still see…
