The Millionaire Detective – Balance: Unlimited

Introduction

Daisuke Kanbe, a man of extraordinary wealth, is assigned to the Modern Crime Prevention Headquarters as a detective. It is there that he gets partnered with Haru Katou, a humane detective who values justice above all. The two are polar opposites, and their morals clash time and time again. They will have to combine their efforts, however, to solve the mysteries that are coming their way. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

The fujoshi-friendly detective anime. When I started Fugou Keiji: Balance:Unlimited, the first thing that caught my eye was its aesthetic. It strongly reminded me of works like Sherlock and even 91 Days, featuring a sleek look, a more subdued color palette, and a police procedural atmosphere. I went in expecting a relatively serious mystery anime, but I found a dynamic quite different from what I had imagined. The story's structure is simple and works exactly as intended. There isn't a major focus on building a complex universe or developing a detailed mythology. The goal is to follow criminal cases as two polar-opposite detectives work together. On one side, we have Haru Katou, who believes in traditional police work and justice above all else. On the other is Daisuke Kanbe, an absurdly…

Saw an edit of this and decided to watch it on a whim. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much. Just a typical detective show with a rich guy thrown in. The first episode-yeah, it’s a little cheesy. Our rich guy is very Bruce Wayne coded, so if you’re into that, you'll like it. The episodes that follow are good, decent cases with some character development thrown in. Nothing incredibly standout, but still enjoyable. But midway through is where the whole pace changes. Suddenly, it’s like you’ve been thrown into one of the best crime thrillers. The twists, reveals, storytelling through backstories makes this a cinematic watch. Set out a few hours to watch this, because having to leave off in the middle of the climax to return to later would be akin to torture. I’m one to get confused at leng…

(Spanish review below). It's not a bad anime, but it's very boring. The idea behind it is interesting, but I don't think it was executed in the best way. The only episode I liked was the fourth, because it puts Kanbe in a different situation that he has to adapt to. Unfortunately, we go back to normal afterwards. Towards the middle of the series, it stops being episodic and there is only one conflict to face. I saw the resolution coming long before I knew that conflict would arise. The characters are okay. Clichés, without much to add. I honestly don't recommend wasting your time watching it. ... No es un anime malo, pero es muy aburrido. La idea detrás es interesante, pero no creo que haya sido ejecutada de la mejor manera. El único episodio que me gustó fue el cuarto, porque pone a K…

Underrated Gem Fugou Keiji: Balance:Unlimited is an entertaining Anime, the writing is really good and the story narration is on point, there are a lot of funny moments in this Anime which never fail to make you smile, then it immediately changes the mood into a more serious tone when it needs to. So the balance between comedy and seriousness is perfect. The art style is ok and it looks good, the music is also good (including OP & ED). Also the characters are likeable. If you're a fan of mystery genre like me, and want some comedy added to it, watch it, it's definitely worth it! not to mention there are lots of great combat and fighting scenes, so it's also a good action as well. It's an underrated gem don't sleep on it. Recommended.

When "I am Batman" becomes "I am super rich", you've made a mistake and are watching the anime "The Millionaire Detective: Balance Unlimited"! The policeman by passion Katou was demoted due to an incident, but he catches the eye of a super-rich man who just spontaneously felt like fighting crime! So while Kato tries to knock some common sense into him, his new partner Kambe investigates as he pleases and perhaps blows up a bridge or two, because after all he has an infinite amount of money in his account... I think you can tell from this brief description that the anime has its own charm, which is quite convincing. The chemistry between the two protagonists, but also many of the other, colorful and rather nonsensical characters, are fun - even if all the characters outside the protagonis…

The only appeals I found in this anime are watching someone spend money without thinking about the cost and the futuristic gadgets. My first impression was "It is weird for Husk to be able to do illegal stuff with money" (especially as it happens a lot) but I gave a chance to the anime and after all, why not. Unfortunately, there is little to no character development for the main and supporting characters so it's difficult to follow the story, which is okay at first. The two main characters get along after a skip, but it's hard to believe they made up so quickly in one travel (and it was so badly done that I had to check if I had missed an episode). Moreover Daisuke is the most expressionless character you will ever find and all characters have only one or at best two traits so it's hard…

Fugou Keiji was entertaining to watch, and I believe it's an easy recommend for anyone searching for a detective/police anime. This review won't contain any spoiler, I'll try to describe the strengths and the weaknesses of this show. Strengths : - The pace was done right. I've seen some reviews that complain about the show being rushed, but I don't think it's fair at all. Every episode has a point, and we can praise this show for giving us a complete story in the span of 11 episodes. Now, it's true that this is a "short" anime, and since the alchemy betweeen characters work, it's understandable that some viewers wish for more content, but it doesn't mean that the story is rushed, rest assured. - The animation is pretty nice. You'll easily spot that it's from CloverWorks Studio ( Kan…

What if Bruce Wayne decided to become a Japanese detective in a buddy cop drama? Would he buy entire buildings before blowing them up? How about dissolving a hostage situation w/ an all male idol LIVE so the hostages over take their captor? Do you like Scooby Doo endings? If any of this sounds entertaining you might enjoy Balance Unlimited: Millionaire Detective. And as if that were not enough theres a mid-season development where we find out Bruce Wayne's/MCs real motive for becoming a Japanese gumshoe is to find out who killed his mother!! ( my guess is in an alley during Christmas with a gun. ) Other plots are involved but you'll have to watch. Show is fun, but not too heavy. Similar vibes to Kubuchiko Sherlock, Tiger & Bunny, Baccano, The Great Pretender, Durarara! Buddy Daddies

Honestly when i saw this anime i thought it had a potential, i mean come on detectives, mysteries, lots of money and gadgets, super technology, whats not to like right ? Well... the whole story was kinda lackluster no real mystery, you can tell from start pretty much whats going to happen, some of the things are unexplained and kinda ruin the emersion. Also no real action going on. Anyway if you think this anime will blow you away, with any genre aspect, it probably wont, Overall its meh, if you are bored and got nothing else to watch this is not bad. Otherwise put priority on some other anime.

i started watching this anime in high hopes, maybe that’s why i’m a bit disappointed. the plot itself is actually interesting and unique, but i think it would have been told WAY better than this. it feels rushed, we don’t get to see any character development as well. however, it was still kind of enjoyable, at least the last episodes were somehow intriguing. the op and ed were catchy, the art was nice as well. if you’ve already watched the popular series and looking for something lighter to enjoy, i think you can give this anime a chance. just don’t be too expectant.

The show had the potential for greatness but luckily didn't fall flat like most others. I have nothing against Daisuke or Haru but throughout the show, I just didn't feel the connection between the two. The overall plot just didn't hold in the end, but I do gotta give it credit for grabbing my attention on EP5 and the later episodes. The animation along with the music was solid, especially the opening and the ending, SixTONES - NAVIGATOR absolutely killed it. Overall a good watch, there were a lot of things I just couldn't look past, but if you gloss over all that it's a solid show with action, spectacle, and thriller elements along with some wacky comedy.

The detective genre is as old as popular media itself. The short stories of eccentric detectives such as Sherlock Holmes, Hercules Poirot and Arsene Lupin have caught the hearts of millions across the globe, Japan having their own beloved take on the detective genre with Detective Conan. Quirky detectives are plenty, but the Millionaire Detective manages to not only bring to life a fascinating character in Daisuke Kambe, but also to develop his character and partnership with detective Kato in a mere eleven episodes. With such a bombastic premise, Millionaire Detective may turn off audiences just with extremely unrealistic solutions and tech, more akin to a comic book hero than to a grounded detective story yet plenty of realistic cases involving emotional characters are narrated in the st…

I have a feeling that this story's writer really wanted to be writing a Batman story. That's not an insult, to be clear, but the parallels are fairly clear. An incredibly wealthy orphan using his resources to (among other things) gain access to various gadgets and technologies he uses to fight crime, an actual batcave, complete with wall of screens. That's not to say there aren't differences; Batman was never LITERALLY a cop, and to be clear, this isn't a superhero show. But I'd be remiss not to mention that those similarities aren't there before we get into the actual story. In terms of that actual story, it's a slow start. Honestly, I wasn't sure for the first couple of episodes. The premise was kinda interesting, but as it started in its episodic structure, 11 episodes of case-of-the-w…

I remember at the start of the Rona everyone online was talking about this show. So, 3 years late I finally decided to give it a try. Overall it's a decent watch. The characters are fun and unique (Snack girl is the best character trust me). The art is well done, a lot of really nice cinematography. Having adult characters is always fun and I did get to see what law enforcement is like in Japan. And the plot twist at the end really gets you so I give them a lot of credit for filling this show full of twist and turns without feeling too out of place. But it didn't wow me. It met my expectations as a good show but didn't blow me out of the water. It was fine and I enjoyed myself but I think it was definitely overhyped (My guess is that it's 2 main male characters in a show with like 3 fema…

the gimmick of the show is in the name The Millionaire Detective. what happens when a detective is also rich especially rich with an unlimited balance? the initial episodes start this gimmick off interestingly and show good dynamics among the cop-buddy duo. but reliance on the gimmick a bit too much makes the show seem rather hollow only to be made worse by a focus on the central plot which is weak, exasperating the feeling. lack of character development and the presence of filler side characters makes the show seem repetitive in the middle episodes too. not recommendable yet its charm might sit well with some out there.

The best way I could define this show is "fun". There wasn't a heavy emphasis on a specific story until later episodes which was nice. The first few episodes are basically an introduction to the incoming story, the characters, and to build up their relationship(s). I think that if you like detective shows of any kind you could enjoy this. It has some elements of surprise but it's possible that you can figure it out before they reveal anything haha. The characters are fun to watch, nothing super out of the ordinary and the world is just... normal. HONESTLY. This is probably one of the more tame anime's I've seen in a while which is probably why I enjoyed it. So if you want something dealing with detectives, a bit of suspense in the story, and something that doesn't deal with supernatural…

I came for the pretty rich man in a suit and I certainly wasn't dissappointed. I get the feeling this was the point of the anime being made so, if you're here for more than that then you might be dissappointed. However, there is still some substance to it. They don't completely cop out and there's some decent humanisation in there behind the unlimited bank account. The two main characters have to learn to accept how and why the other one does police work their way, and in the process they come to trust and respect eachother enough to use eachothers strengths and methods. Overall, I enjoyed it.

This is a thrill to watch. The first few episodes are quite random in nature following no real structure, they are exciting and fit the show perfectly. Generally, a bit of harmless fun to immerse you into the world. However, this transitions into a quite frankly, meagre story arc. This story arc starts off interesting but by the end you're left dumbfounded by the gaping plot-holes. It's watchable but it definitely ruins the entire thing. I don't even think you fully understand it all by the end, quite a shame really. The main characters are great, very likable, although more development was needed. Sound and animation fit it quite nicely, nothing lacking here at all. Rating this above seven is impossible unless you have some sort of emotional attachment. If the story was better fleshe…

Fugou Keiji is a good anime to binge watch. I had a good time watching it. The comic reliefs did great job for adding humor to the plotline. The plot seemed really good, especially the plot twists at the very end. I tried thinking if I really want a season 2 of this anime or not, but I came to the conclusion that, even though the anime was pretty good, I still don't feel desperate enough for a season 2. Although the protagonists are to die for, not gonna lie :3 . I dont watch much of the mystery genre, but yet I've felt that the anime was good, but not great. Kambe Daisuke and Kato Haru made an amazing pair. I would personally rate this a good 7/10. Recommendable.

The first four episodes of this anime started out very character-driven, and I absolutely loved them. The characters are super interesting and I was immediately invested. However, after those first four episodes, the whole story got lost in a super convoluted plot that really mostly just confused me. It wasn't interesting and it had very little bearing on what I cared about until that point. Overall, I was much more interested in the characters than the plot, and the characters barely got time to breathe from episode five on, which really wasted the potential of the initial setup. That said, I still VERY highly recommend episodes one through four, and based on just those I would rate this anime a 10 across the board. I don't recommend watching the rest.
