91 Days

Introduction

As a child living in the town of Lawless, Angelo Lagusa has witnessed a tragedy: his parents and younger brother have been mercilessly slaughtered by the Vanetti mafia family. Losing everything he holds dear, he leaves both his name and hometown behind, adopting the new identity of Avilio Bruno. Seven years later, Avilio finally has his chance for revenge when he receives a mysterious letter prompting him to return to Lawless. Obliging, he soon encounters the Vanetti don's son, Nero, and seeks to befriend him using the skills he has quietly honed for years. Set during the Prohibition era, 91 Days tells the story of Avilio's dark, bloodstained path to vengeance, as he slowly ends each of the men involved in the killing of his family. We don't talk about Bruno anymore... What a sensational anime. Honestly, it is an incredibly well-crafted work, especially considering its premise and the limited time it has to develop everything. 91 Days is the kind of anime that manages to build a unique atmosphere and hook you, not just with the events themselves, but with the way everything is presented. The anime is set during the Prohibition era in the United States, a time when the production, sale, and distribution of alcohol were banned. And, honestly, the setting is one of the show's greatest strengths. That whole atmosphere of mafia dealings, corruption, bootlegging, speakeasies, and feuds between crime families fits the story perfectly. I could truly feel like I was living in that era while watching, and that immersion was a…

It’s a great anime that keeps you focused on the mafia plot throughout; naturally, it’s full of betrayals, but overall, I enjoyed it. The protagonist seeks revenge for his family's murder—a somewhat common premise in this genre—but he is intelligent, charismatic, and willing to go to any lengths to achieve his goal. The supporting cast is solid, though I felt it lacked a truly standout villain; for mobsters, most of them seemed like decent people. The relationship between the protagonist and his best friend is a highlight, although I think the ending could have been handled a bit better. The story’s theme of revenge is fairly standard, making the plot somewhat predictable; still, it features some genuinely profound and engaging conversations. Overall, I would recommend this anime; it’s…

In short, if you enjoy a revenge drama wrapped in mystery, mafia conflicts, and a story that sometimes forces things to work, 91 Days might be for you. 91 Days is an original anime produced by Studio Shuka, directed by Hiro Kaburagi, with series composition by Taku Kishimoto. The story is set during the Prohibition era in the United States and follows Angelo Lagusa’s revenge against the mafia family responsible for destroying his life. Anime listing Without giving major spoilers, the premise starts with a young boy witnessing his family being murdered in front of him. He survives, escapes, and years later returns with one goal: revenge. Basically, almost Batman, but with mafia, alcohol, betrayal and a much darker tone. Art: 6/10 The art is average. It is not ugly, but it also does not sta…

(Spanish review below) Although "91 Days" seemed interesting at first, it ultimately turned out to be bland and boring. Yes, a lot was happening regarding the alcohol trade storyline and the mafia wars, but very little actually happened regarding the main plot: the revenge. The first few episodes were good, but starting around the second or third one, the anime began to suffer from a lack of character development and pacing issues. My biggest problem with "91 Days" lies with its characters; they were flat and lacked any real development. We knew nothing about them beyond their specific roles within the anime (the lunatic, the loyalist, the heir). The character who suffered the most in this regard was our protagonist: Avilio. He underwent absolutely no development whatsoever. He was a m…

A decent attempt to make a Mob anime. Doesn't really do much to stand out however and definitely doesn't hold a candle to real Gangster films or tv shows. Story is a generic revenge plot, characters are all pretty edgy but not too overdone where you roll your eyes 24/7. I wish the main character looked a little more grizzled instead of like a generic anime protagonist. Still worth a watch as its fairly short and nothing about it is bad just plays it safe for a show of this type. If you enjoy this show for the mob aspects I'd highly recommend watching some IRL shows and movies like the godfather or Sopranos.

story-lore 6/10 Typical italian mafia story mixed with standard anime main character. Nothing special or innovative. However, it describes what it aims for with precision leaving the viewer with a general understanding of its world. Pretty straitforward without deeper meanings, but with surficial ones. An anime to relax and not to stimulate your thinking or make you question things, even if you live a gangster life. Because of the main idea of gangster families fighting to rule over a town and the stereotypical protagonist some plot-holes and plot-armors were to be expected but I believe they were misused and inacurately expolited making the story quite monotonous and colourless. Enjoyed the escalation of the situations and the ending was pretty good. sounds 6.5/10 Nice music, unfitting t…

I just finished watching this anime, and I have to say — it was a solid ride overall, especially if you're into more mature, grounded stories. It's not for those looking for sci-fi or fantasy elements. The themes are very realistic, leaning more into crime, drama, and a mafia-style underworld setting. The storytelling and atmosphere were strong, and the characters had depth. However, the open ending really let me down. It felt incomplete and unsatisfying. Honestly, I wish I had realized earlier that this anime might not be for me — I probably would’ve dropped it. In the end, while it had its moments, I wouldn't personally recommend it unless you're okay with open-ended conclusions and slower, more grounded narratives. It just didn't feel worth it to me in the long run.

91 Days is an anime that knows exactly what it wants to be. From the very first shot, it aims to channel the spirit of old Italian gangster movies, and it does so with style. The setting, the art direction, the music. It all leans into that classic Godfather-like atmosphere, even opening its first episode with a credit sequence that feels like a direct homage to the genre. For anyone who loves mafia aesthetics, it’s immediately appealing. There’s a certain cinematic charm to how it introduces its world, throwing you into a tangle of names, families, and motivations without much hand-holding. It can be confusing at first, but also intriguing, especially if you enjoy piecing things together through context and dialogue. But while the presentation starts strong, the actual experience of watc…

If someone asked me my opinion on “91 Days” in the fewest words possible, I would say it was a pleasant surprise.nn“91 Days” is a simple revenge story: Angelo Ragusa runs away from his hometown, Lawless, after witnessing his family being murdered right in front of his eyes. Seven years later, he returns under the name Bruno Avilio, with the desire to avenge his family killed by the Vanetti family, a mafia family that controls the city of Lawless. Angelo’s revenge will be completed in ninety-one days — hence the title of the series.nnWhat stands out most in this type of anime is the screenplay: despite a few slightly slow initial episodes, the story has an excellent pace. There are no flaws or inconsistencies; everything is well-structured and engaging, also thanks to some plot twists. nnAn…

-91 Days is a series that bets on an intense and mature story, steering away from conventional anime clichés. Its atmosphere, inspired by classic mafia films, makes it a unique offering within the medium. However, its slow pace and focus on psychological drama may not appeal to everyone. 91 days is an amazing anime, one of my favorites. Its underrated. I wish it had a manga and had more episodes. This is a revenge anime but at the end I feel like the main character realizes that what he did for revenge for not worth it, it made me also realize the best revenge is no revenge and letting go. I love the opening and ending of this show especially the ending the music makes me sad, I rewatched this anime about 3 times and I cry every time. I definitely recommend this anime I love it so much, it’s great.

I found this anime by coincidence. Back then, I added in my anime queue and after years I finished this anime. This anime has a style of story different from what I’m used to watching, and because of that, I was afraid of wasting my time. The most surprising part is the way the anime approaches the story. I have watched thousands of animes about revenge. Even Naruto has themes like this. However, 91 Days kept surprising me until the end. I didn't know what was, and I don't get put in word my feels about this anime. The anime is simply amazing. Each episode is relevant, without runaround and still remained without to seem accelerated. This anime is worthy of your time! Please, watch it! The theme of anime is cliche, but even so t91 Days continue being good!

One of the things I loved most about 91 Days is the aesthetic and the soundtracks. I actually found the OST on YouTube back when I was still in high school, and I used to listen to it while studying for my history exams. The music really stuck with me, and it’s one of the reasons I decided to watch the anime in the first place. The anime has so much potential, but I feel like it didn’t fully deliver for me. It’s hard to explain — maybe it’s the ending that felt a bit unsatisfying? It’s not bad, though. I think the ending works for what the story was going for, even if it wasn’t exactly what I hoped for. What stands out are the characters, the art style, and, of course, the amazing OST. The opening song, by the same artist who created the iconic *Tokyo Ghoul* opening, was such a treat.…

I always like to have a dig around the reviews to see what others have said and especially in the opposite opinion to see what they think, and then go see what they rate. Normally I find that they like all the utter trash childish anime and have obviously missed the point entirely. Interesting there's a few people in this one that don't fit this and I'm genuinely surprised. I blitzed this in a day - which is rare, but it was good enough to keep watching. It's not Bebop, Monster, or Pluto good - but then again what is? It's also not Iseku trash, which instantly means it's better than 95% of anything in the last 10 years. But why is 91 Days is good? It is very well written - people act like real people (although driven by plot people do , and there's a good understanding of what people d…

91 Days: Ninity-one days of biting one's tongue, meticulously planning, and executing what can be perceived as a non-culpable set of murders for the sake of revenge. If testosterone-pumping vengeance all served on a platter with depression, gunpowder, booze, and 2D animated women sounds hardcore, then this is the show for you. Angelo Lagusa, also known as Avilio Bruno is a lot less hot-headed than your standard anime protagonists who lived a life full of bloodshed and hell. Balancing internal struggles while holding up a facade to those around you is quite an emotionally draining task. However, if everyone and everything has been practically taken away from you due to someone's severe worry of losing their blood money, then are you really the one to blame? Although the conclusion to thi…

91 Days is an anime that grips you from the very first episode, drawing you into a world of revenge, betrayal, and shattered bonds. Set during the Prohibition era, the series follows the story of Angelo Lagusa, a man who has lost everything to the mafia and dedicates his life to one thing: vengeance. The anime’s strength lies in its ability to paint a dark and ruthless picture of the world in which its characters live. Every interaction, every decision is steeped in a sense of inevitability and despair that keeps the viewer on the edge of their seat. The characters, driven by deep and often tragic personal motivations, display a growth and evolution that makes them incredibly realistic and complex. Angelo, the protagonist, is not your typical hero; he is driven by a cold and calculated a…

What ruins this anime a bit for me is the overhyped and story pacing. I've heard a saying that "Seeking revenge is to dig two graves." and this anime serves that well. Perhaps the concept that revenge is meaningless but sometimes needs to be dodne for jusstice is also appropriate. The first 3 or 4 episodes are okay. I'm into true crime podcast so watching this series is interesting for me. The plotting and the schemes although a few seems like unreasonable and impossible most of the schemes are realistic. I say they are unrealistic as it just favors the MC alone most of the time. The side characters for this anime are like a plastic cut out simple minded characters that can't even think some true logic despite being in the higher ranks of mafia. It feels odd. Needless to say this anime…

Are you tired of every anime being set in Japan and feeling like it's a waste more of them don't make use of the rest of the world's history and culture? Well then fear not "91 days" is an anime that is placed in the west during the years of prohibition and focuses on the world of mafia, alcohol trafficking and vengeance. Plot: I would argue the first episode of this anime does an amazing job at situating the viewers and presenting the story and our main characters' goal and motivations. It all starts with our MC as a kid happily living with his family when suddenly a group of three men enter his house with the intent to kill him and his family, even though they succeed at doing so to his family they fail to get to Angelo and he manages to escape. 7 years later he receives a letter from…

91 Days is, at its core, a story about revenge, satisfaction, and if revenge brings satisfaction. A very thought-provoking show that does an excellent job of slowly blurring the lines between victim and villain. Our story takes place in the "Prohibition Era" of American history. A period from 1920 to 1933 when the production and sale of alcoholic beverages were illegal. Of course, this just led to an increase in organized crime and illegally made alcohol. This story is closely tied to one of these "crime families". Our main protagonist is Angelo. A young man who grew up in the town of Lawless, Illinois. A town ruled by the mafia. After his family gets killed by the mafia, which his father was involved in, he leaves Lawless and tries to start a new life somewhere else. Seven years later,…
