Well it is a tough one to score, as the show was incredibly uneven.
I thought that the start was very weak: i Had to force myself to keep watching in the hopes that it will at some stage grab me and become interesting. But the pacing and focus of the first part just seemed a little bland. I did enjoy the awakening scenes, but once it got into mafia politics, my interest was lost.
I did like some parts around the middle, but overall, it was way too stretched out considering the story was actually relatively simple.
The show did Have some good writing, and sometimes interesting plot elements. I liked the idea behind the phantoms and how they have no memory: the question of how much of an influence does our past have on us. The character change on Zwei was interesting when he got his me…

I thought the show started off pretty well, really enjoyed the first half. The second half took a strange direction and everything went to shit from there, especially with the loli parts. Also really hated the multiple episodes of nearly all recap but still having a couple min of important content making them unskippable. I briefly read about the visual novels having multiple endings, I don't know what they all are, and I don't need happy endings, but whatever this anime chose was, at least in my opinion, just terribly written. Not sure if the VNs were any better.
The art style was fine, at least the guns were somewhat realistic. Weird out of place moaning noises were added to the second half that made no sense at all.
The characters only half reacted to things in realistic ways. Several…

Phantom is SO close. Yes, it's later Bee Train after they realized the big money wasn't coming, and it has some STUPID things like when they spend a whole episode mistaking Los Angeles for Las Vegas. HOWEVER, it has some vision in taking the dark and occasionally sleazy 80's crime B-movies movies and refracting it through the lens of anime. There are times it reaches that kind of height of a good William Friedkin movie, like the episode where the main characters seemingly indulge in a fantasy life as a normal couple at a mall while being keenly aware of what they are now.
The main problem is it's a story told in 3 acts when it should've been told in 2 halves. The HARD left turn in the final act happens over such a short period of time in both time that has passed in the series and in the…

Killers don't deserve a happy ending.
I've come to discover I love media about hitmen. The psychology of those who take lives, and the context that led to that. This one's about what looks like an adult, but it's no more than a teenager. 16-year-old, brainwashed protagonist, Zwei (two) who knows nothing about anything.
An underground man manages to place him with a previous victim, and trained hitmen, Ein (One), to train him so both become the greatest assassins on planet earth. It's a twisting story about what it means to search for meaning, when it's been snatched from you.
I absolutely adore how the story COMPLETELY deglamorizes killing as something cool, or badass. Every other story I've seen, even slightly, glamorizes how easy it is to kill people for these characters. Whether w…

I really, truly wanted to love Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom. A lot. It started alright, too: an interesting lad without memories gets brainwashed to become a premium assasisn and gets associated with an emotion-free girl named as "Ein" while he becomes "Zwei," the second amnesiac assassin.
Then, he learns his name, then he keeps working as an assassin, then he takes in a small girl as his protegee, then he is betrayed from every possible angle by every possible person and scenario. The thing is, all these are up to episode 18 and from episode 18, it is only downhill in terms of storyline, consistency, credibility, belieavability, and things get complicated and the series ends in the worst possible way, without any meaning to what has happened.
The problem is that there are a myriad t…

Two things before anything else.
1. Did not play the VN
2. The first op karma is one of the most hauntingly beautiful tracks ive heard.
Ended up enjoying the show. Its a bit of a mess. Jumps quite suddenly. The twists are very obvious. Especially if youve seen shows in the same genre you recognize everything. It doesnt do anything special. But it does it good enough. Likeable characters. Music was very good, not just the OP but the original BGM aswell.
Watching the show made me wish to play the VN because i know from experience how much gets lost, no matter how well adapted, going from VN to Anime. I wanted even more from it. I also know its hard to adapt so credit for making it as highly rated and praised as it is.
It really should have been 24 episodes though. No need för 2 reca…

This anime has a great idea, what if we got a random dude and made him into a killing machine. That is the begging idea of the anime, so it the story begins pretty straightforward dude is forced to become killing machine. But the author is as creative as tailor swift.
A few episodes pass and then the authors like fuck bro what do i do now, oh shit let me introduce this character that will take an interest in our guy that will help him regain his memory. And so the author writes in a character to do that.
Same issue comes up again and again, damn ok i need to ad something. Writes in convenient plot point, or adds convenient character. While he is doing all this adding and removing he is trying to (and miserably failing to) tie the plot points and characters together whole fixing some of t…

Overall, I have mixed feelings about the series. Reiji and Eren were great characters and I loved everything involving them. Some side characters, like Claudia, Lizzie, and Cal, were rather well done in their own rights. I just don't feel the same about any of the other side characters though, since most of them just weren't all that interesting and so much of the series was focused on their machinations. Inferno in general was a mixed bag for me, and while Scythe had his moments, he just came off as a bit of a mustache-twirling villain who didn't care if he sacrificed his pawns. Maybe that's part of the point as well, but it made it difficult to appreciate him as a villain when he didn't appear to care about anything beyond saving his own skin and showing how capable he was.

“Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom” is a story of an amnesiac forced to become an assassin for a crime syndicate. It’s also better than it sounds on paper.
There are three main heroes in this show:
Ein - The prototype assassin. A young girl brainwashed by a mad scientist archetype to become the perfect weapon. She’s broken in so many ways that You could create a trauma bingo card with her. She shows little to no emotions outside the ones she puts on as a show during missions. Out of all the assassins she’s the most tragic one of all and at first it’s really hard to like her.
Zwei - our “main” main hero. A Young man stripped of his memories and forced to become an assassin. In the beginning he’s hesitant to become an assassin and plays along with the training only as a means of staying al…

I started watching this for three reasons: 1) it's in a genre I usually enjoy, 2) it is highly rated, 3) it seemed to be more adult-oriented than most anime, leading to expectations of more mature and complex themes and somewhat realistic writing.
This is the first series I've so far watched where I disagree with the high rating and can't really understand it. This series did not meet my expectations at all, although it is not completely without merits. Animation is better than average and visually there are nice artistic choices from the director throughout. Music is mostly solid and often atypical in a good way. The setup is also very interesting and the story could go in multiple exciting directions.
Unfortunately the writing is all over the place, it never reaches the heights the set…

What Future Diary is to psychological anime, Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom is to mafia anime. It’s good, but it’s a little messy, and doesn’t quite reach the levels of the others in it: genre. That is not to say these anime are not good - the masterpieces of their genres are simply too good.

Story - 8
This anime has an amazing premise. Not only that, but it takes a bunch of twists and turns that I didn’t expect. Coming in thinking this was just going to be an anime about the main character as he is forced to live a life of crime, I was pleasantly surprised at the different routes the story took. However, this came with some plot holes. We have three time skips throughout the whole anime, and this is where those plot holes come from... things like how would that charact…

Phantom – Requiem of the Phantom.
An Anime noir with an interesting look into life of assassins, that gets completely deviated by the end, and really makes you wonder if this was worth the time.
The story sets in America, and revolves around two characters named Ein, a well named assassin who’s feared as the mighty “Phantom” and Zwei, a Japanese high-schooler who was brainwashed and forced to join an underground organization, as they try to survive, living a life forced upon them by a man named “Scythe Master” under an underworld organization called “Inferno”. As the Anime progresses, you’ll get to know their lives through the eyes of a brain washed person, while having an internal struggle to fit in the world he was forced to live. But that might change over time.

Short Review: (Spoiler-free)
Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom has style in spades but substance in small doses. Had it been a shorter and tighter show with only 13-16 episodes with the focus solely on the survival and budding relationship between the leads, it could have been a much better show. Alas, it has to be filled with goofy mobster drama, hammy villains and other excesses. Imagine starting this anime with positive expectations for a solid late-night mature show about brain-washed assassins seeking redemption, but instead getting a goofy and bloated Bourne/Nikita/Leon the Professional/Mission Impossible 2/Godfather 3/Black Lagoon wannabe/ripoff/mashup. And that sums up my experience watching this anime. Another way to describe the experience of this anime is rounds after rounds of…

I'll keep this very short: This is like a bearable train ride that goes off the rails towards the end.
I can overlook a lot of things in anime but at some point a certain threshold is reached and then I start to get annoyed by things such as lazy writing, unnecessary characters, character actions that make zero sense and completely unrealistic events (unrealistic within the animes own universe). There was a decent plotline for the majority of the show but towards the end it feels like they ran out of ideas or forgot about what had happened up to that point in the story. And to top it off apparently the ending here is the opposite (good/bad) of the original which doesnt fit at all.
It's like you eat a mediocre meal and are looking forward to desert only for it to add to your disappointmen…

Phantom Requiem Review
I don’t normally put spoiler warnings at the beginning of my reviews. I don’t normally believe what I am saying could have that detrimental of an effect on viewing, but for Phantom Requiem…it’s important you watch this show blindly. Anyway, spoilers ahead.
I’d like to start out by saying that this show is an absolute masterpiece in its design, just a little flawed in its execution (thus why I gave it an 8/10). Each episode comes at you like a freight train of experiences. What’s even better is they all feel unique in their own way. Even though I’m not particularly fond of dreary plots or conclusions that end with the death(s) of the main characters, Phantom for certain makes it work. More than anything, I appreciated the deeper meaning behind the scenes. It might…

So basically this anime could've been great but instead just wasted by having great ideas but not actually executing them like having this massive build-up to killing scythe master and then its effortlessly taken care of through the use of 'plot' then having a feeling of anticlimactic because of the dramatic build-up with the new phantoms' he created that was apparently way more superior and then boom 5 minutes and they are all 6 feet underneath.
Also, the ending man like jeez bro (bro = Reji) survived all this but then dies to cart driver(don't know if that is true but he did die to a gunshot) like bro how does that make any sense? and then Erin kills herself because of representation of the flower in the ending scene without petal suggesting she ate it and died which then I didn't even…

It's been a few years, but it was inevitable that one day I would have to review another Urobutcher anime. I have a complicated history with Gen Urobuchi. I can't even say whether I like or dislike the man at this point. He can create some great scenes and fun characters, but he also plagiarizes blatantly enough to make Tarantino blush and isn't half as smart as he thinks he is. Urobuchi is that kid who got a 78 on his high school physics test and was so excited over his own BRILLIANCE that he immediately tried to apply for Mensa.
The strength of an Urobutcher anime kind of depends on what he's adapting...or ripping off. I actually loved Psycho Pass because it borrowed heavily from Minority Report and Philip K Dick was a master of cool premises. In that instance, I felt like Urobutchi's…

Story-7
the writers had some great ideas and at times the story is very enthralling but the overarching story is very very messy. It was like the authors had no foresight when writing this anime, they would kill off some Characters and then try to force them back in because they realize the story would not really work without them instead of trying to work out something new. While the Characters develop a lot throughout the story the story itself feels like it was going in circles, the authors would spend just as much time backtracking then actually progressing the story. Despite all these ridicules, there are some very very unique ideas and great plot points hidden in the mess, and if you take each section of the story in a vacuum they are actually r…

So I recently made my account on this site and was reviewing all anime that I use to watch in the past. I rated this as 6 at the begining since I wasn't really remembering how good that anime was but then I decided to rewatch it entirely to have better judgment about this show and oh boy I am glad I did this since this anime IMO is a solid 8.
Firstly, I would like to talk about art and sound which I rated as 7 and 6 accordingly. They are not bad by any means but they are not top shelf either. The soundtrack was limited to just a few tracks that were repeated over and over again during the course of the show from which I liked the most Gregorian Chant-like which fited the theme of the show perfectly.
When it comes to the storyline it's divided into 3 parts each one ending with climax or…
