Gangsta.

Gangsta.

Introduction

Nicholas Brown and Worick Arcangelo, known in the city of Ergastalum as the "Handymen," are mercenaries for hire who take on jobs no one else can handle. Contracted by powerful mob syndicates and police alike, the Handymen have to be ready and willing for anything. After completing the order of killing a local pimp, the Handymen add Alex Benedetto—a prostitute also designated for elimination—to their ranks to protect her from forces that want her gone from the decrepit hellhole of a city she has come to call home. However, this criminal’s paradise is undergoing a profound period of change that threatens to corrode the delicate balance of power. Ergastalum was once a safe haven for "Twilights," super-human beings born as the result of a special drug but are now being hunted down by a fierce underground organization. This new threat is rising up to challenge everything the city stands for, and the Handymen will not be able to avoid this coming war. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Gangsta. was a series I really enjoyed. I liked its atmosphere, characters, setting, and the overall feeling of the story. The world it presents is interesting, and I especially enjoyed seeing the relationship between the main characters develop throughout the series. That said, the biggest problem is definitely the ending. The anime feels like it stops right when the story is getting more interesting, leaving many things unresolved. Because of that, I really think Gangsta. needs a second season. There is clearly more story to tell, and it would be great to see the characters and the world developed further. Overall, I had a really good time watching Gangsta., but it's difficult not to feel like the anime is incomplete without another season.

This anime has a lot of bad reviews which is surprising to me as it's one of my favorites. I've been watching anime since I was practically a newborn (I am now 28) and this anime weaseled its way into my top 10 with ease. For starters, don't go into this anime expecting to be satisfied by the end only because it does not HAVE an end. The anime was dropped and never picked back up because of some collapse with the studio that made it, which is such a shame because it's an amazing anime but it NEEDED to be fleshed out with a second season because the first season leaves soooo much to be desired and I think that's where a lot of people feel "cheated" and they can't look beyond that at the bigger picture which is why they disliked the anime. I think the thing that Gangsta does best is deliv…

What a badass depiction of gangsters, man. I honestly love this anime. Right from the first few episodes, Gangsta. establishes a unique identity, largely due to its setting and visual style. The show features an aesthetic that blends elements of early 20th-century American cities with a gritty, violent atmosphere, creating a world that feels constantly on the brink of chaos. The character designs are also fantastic and fit the concept perfectly, especially the protagonists, who have striking looks and distinct personalities. Another detail I thought was really cool is the "dog tag" system. It’s an element that helps build the universe's identity and shows how society functions in a way that’s completely different from our own. The relationships between the characters, the organizations,…

Gangsta., a series many of us have been craving for a long time. Rewatched again to write a fair review for you all. Gangsta. is special. It has real identity. The characters, the world, and the themes all play a crucial role at every step. Every character feels extremely real and relatable. I love the dynamic between Nic, Worick, and Alex. They took Alex off the street and are trying to give her purpose. Nic is a funny man of little to no words, his actions are part of who he is, and they sure are enjoyable. Worick is kind of all over the place, but in a good way. He is kind of the grounder between everybody. It's a nice circle that feels good to watch. The anime was great but was cut very short. Unfortunately, the studio went bankrupt, but I wouldn't say that takes away from the show.…

Gangsta. is a series that doesn’t sugarcoat anything and shows life as it is: raw, dirty, and brutal. The characters are neither purely good nor purely evil — the series is a perfect example of true moral gray areas. That is exactly what makes it so compelling to me. The characters feel human, broken, and contradictory, and for that very reason you want to stay with them. Each of them carries their own story, and you can sense that there is still so much left unsaid. After every episode, I wanted to learn more about them. The art style and animation support this tone perfectly. Everything feels cohesive; nothing seems out of place or glossed over. Gangsta. is not a series that tries to please — it pulls you into its world and leaves a lasting impression. It would be truly unfortunate if…

Gangsta is an anime that left me with mixed feelings. On one hand, I genuinely loved its unique blend of crime, politics, and supernatural elements, which gives the mafia genre a fresh and stylish twist. Set in the lawless city of Ergastalum, the show introduces a world filled with power struggles, discrimination, and morally ambiguous characters. Right from the first episode, I was captivated by its striking visuals, atmospheric cityscapes, and gritty noir aesthetic. The character designs were sharp and memorable, perfectly complementing the bleak, violent tone of the series. However, as I kept watching, it became clear to me that Gangsta doesn’t fully realize its potential. The world-building, while intriguing, felt frustratingly underdeveloped. I constantly found myself wanting to know…

Honestly, this anime had so much more to offer the audience. Those who want to watch this one, know that this anime is incomplete and there is a cliffhanger at the end. So, you will need to read the manga whatsoever. This anime could be so much better if it were a 50+ episode anime. It had a good story. Good enough music. And the characters had so much potential to flourish. However, I loved watching this one despite no season 2 (till now: Dec, 2024). The story revolves around a city with many outlaws. Four families run it and balance the power. Here are our protagonists: Worrick and Nicolas. They are the handymen around the neighborhood and solve people's problems by force or wits. The animations gave me a fullmetal alchemist vibe. I wanted to end my review within the first paragraph, b…

It seemed quite interesting at first. The show is 8/10 in the first episodes. The story isn't that mysterious or unique, it's something we used to see, but it can be considered a nice piece of art. Characters can also be considered ordinary, but they have some depth in their character. The ending was something that couldn't be considered as a cliffhanger. The anime turns into your classic show where they accelerate things because they don't have enough budget and you don't understand who is who and why they are doing what they are doing. This can be solved with a new season but I guess we won't see that.

It has a very old-times vibe to it. Not the best anime. There are moments of tension, but it's not something you can stay connected with in the watching. I believe that the art style works exceptionally well, but the characters do have their gimmicks. They try to introduce the backstory of the main character as the episodes come along. The plot feels like it's all over the place, and just not that viable. I believe it would be better if there was an overarching goal with everything. Perhaps a show about the duality and struggles then figuring out a new system to replace the old system in place.

this was a good season 1 with good ed i thought this would be a one shot so character being introduced in the end 1 arc after another felt rushed but other than that it had good fights with some cool scenes between them . . . but the plot for me in the end where they say every family name explaining what they are doing without even knowing a single thing about them was bit too much . good character development for the main crew...only for them as other people like the little girl and her crew feels forced as they become the more focused point in the end.....this could have been better and a little more on the gangsta side than the civil war type as they are in a city which is projected to be gangsta paradise like black lagoon ... . all n all a nice show which would be great if it had mor…

I don't really know why, but I had high hopes coming into this one. Didn't read anything about it, see any trailers etc. So I'm not really sure where these hopes came from. Ultimately, it's rather average. Animation is great to be honest, reminds me of a Madhouse style animation but not quite a finessed. The fights are still well animated despite my previous comment. The violence is nicely done and weirdly doesn't feel to over the top. I would probably give the animation a 7/10. Music wise, it's equally as strong as the animation. At times, it's a little simple and repetitive but still manages to keep the scenes moving forward when involved. I would give the music 7/10 I found the story here a bit boring. Im not ate about anyone else but I didn't really buy into any of the characters.…

Its called "gansta." cause they didn't finish "gangster", missing the last piece! So sad! This must be what getting cucked is like. Mal says this review needs more information, well this is how I feel about the show! It just ends, so abruptly! I get the studio went bankrupt, but no one was willing to finish it and make a second season??? Really??? Sad!!!! This thing has a 7.4X despite being half baked, imagine how high it would be were it finished. Here's some more text to meet the min character limit: Is the story unique? If it was predictable, did you enjoy it anyway because you like this genre/set-up? Do you think the art style is fitting for the story? Were the characters well-rounded? Did they have flaws and strengths, or were they unusually strong/smart/stupid? Did the characters…

I have know I deal why this anime is getting such low reviews. I watched it a while back, and it's fantastic. The characters are well develop, the world is dynamic, and it has great fight scenes. The ending was to set up a 2nd season. I loved the mystery about the hunters and the doping aspect. I really wanted to know more about the war. Even with that I think it was an amazing watch for adults. It's nice to not have to just see anime lean into "the power of friendship" and was actually made for adults. Give it watch promise you want be disappointed if you like gritty adult shows with good characters and awesome fights scenes.

This show gave me the same feeling that Black Lagoon did. The secret characters and their backstory is the reason why they are where they are. This story puts you in a world of humans that have crazy abilities and how the underworld use them. If brings a lot of really cool characters you want to learn more about. It had all the elements of a good show but it did fall short with not really revealing much. the first season only really provided use with a understanding of who the superhuman is, not much about who everyone else is. It did leave me wanting more but also it looks like they are not deciding on perusing a new season so i cant really do anything about it. Great show but i want to learn more about the characters, I have learnt alot about the world but thats about it. there is a…

Ok so this is one of those animes that will draw you in and make you love it and then the ending comes leaving you with a f you to your face. You will end up liking the characters a lot, each on them having their problems making you care for them, but after so many episodes that go from action to sadness and more, you will stumble upon the 12th episode wich leaves you with nothing but shit. The last episode is just a clusterfuck full of genocide everywhere, a lot of death(classic anime shit ending). I mean one moment you're like holy shit they are powerless against these fuckers, holy shit that guy dies and also him or her(or actually idk anymore), that guy is actually winning I think, actually not anymore and wait HOLD THE F UP IS HE GOING TO SUICIDE?! - This is basically episode 12 i…

READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE WATCHING, I will elaborate as to why later but this is for your own good, trust me. Gangsta is NOT a finished product. It is a sample platter of a dish that will never come out. When Gangsta was airing, I was interested but never got around to watching it until now, and I must say, it's a bittersweet tale. I went in knowing nothing except what I knew about it, what, 6-7 years ago? Of course, after viewing, with the "ending" the anime has, I HAD to look into it. Apparently, the studio adapting Gangsta, Manglobe, was down to its last dollar and after Gangsta, they closed down. But that's okay, we'd just be waiting until some other studio can get rights to adapt it or whatever, right? I mean, it's not uncommon for different studios to do different seasons of the same…

I finished the last episode just a few minutes ago and i'm dissapointed because i have so many questions. I think there must be a second season for this questions but maybe it cancelled i don't know. In Gangsta, there is so much violance, sexual scenes, unreasonable flashbacks. In storyline, there is so much material but maybe 12 episode is not enough for explain it. The story has three main characters, Nicolas and Worick had an old friendship/master-slave relationship, they came to this city and there is Alex the woman who appeared from their window. Alex is prostitute, Worick is gigolo. It's seinen but we just saw unreasonable nudity, every character had a good physic and obviously no clothes. We saw their past sometimes but it's hard to understand what happened and when happened. There…

This show felt like a super water-downed version of Black Lagoon. This show really had great potential, the characters really had had great stories and the characters were really good looking too, but they screwed up in the execution of the story, they wasted Nicolas and Worlick story about their past, they messed up with Alex's past story, the main plot story was presented way too confusingly. I really wish they could have done a good job at executing the story, but they messed up big time and ruined this show. The only plus points in this show are character designs and character personalities.

I've seen A LOT of bad review for Gangsta. and I don't get why its was a really good anime tbh. The characters all had a back story and it was enjoyeble to see them change. But the ending really annoyed me. I dont know why they made an animated version of the manga when the manga wasnt even finished I really want a second season. The strory was overal really great I have never seen a story like Gangsta. and I really enjoyed the anime it got me hooked really fast. It is an anime with a mature genre but that is what got me hooked so fast. Its also the first time Ive ever wanted to read the manga of an anime instead of waiting fpr a second season. I dont think there will ever come a second season because they went bankrupt which is really sad. This is my first review on MAL so sorry if it suc…

Gangsta is one of the most immersive anime I have seen in a long time, the dark vibe, the loveable characters, and good score all add up to a very interesting anime. Sound: The sound is a little lacking tbh, you hardly ever notice it, and the music choice doesn't really fit the theme of anime. Whenever there comes a fighting scene, there is this dubstep kind of music, which really doesn't fit at all, since the anime is set in a "mafia" like setting. Animation: The animation of Gangsta is a little low budget, there lacks a bit of fluidity in the motion, which lowers the quality of the fight scenes. Sometimes it just seems that its a picture moving across the screen, which is quite unpleasing to look at. but other than that, I really like the art style, its original, and there isn't real…
