If someone who can not choose your future job this one might help it. I am a university student who didnt choose my wanting job so, if i watched this anime 2 or 3 years earlier maybe i could've find my way sooner.
Also the age gap romance is quite unique. A highschool girl liking fine lookiing old man is not that rare but actually asking out and confesses her feeling is rare thing to see.
The story is wholesome and good, but there's not an ounce of romance in the story apart from few confessions, it's all about a girl finding her passion for running and a guy for writing back. The story is very much slow paced. But it's a good slice of life genre, but don't expect any romance in it.
To be honest I was expecting a little more.

After the Rain is an interesting take, the premise is something that can be seen as controversial but the anime touches upon real human emotions rather than the spectacle of the age gap between the two main characters. Some of the main points the anime rests upon are the feelings of youth, following your passions, and learning how to bounce back after setbacks in life. The story follows a 17 year old Akira Tachibana and 45 year old Masami Kondou as they work together and navigate the relationship between manager and employee along with any growing romantic feelings.
This anime is one that can express the feelings of adolescence and yearning for something that is taboo. Many of the side characters get screen time and character development so the romance of the two main characters is not th…

This anime could have easily been a 9/10. It's more in the atmospheric side, it's immersive and handels a controversial topic in a mature way. The artstyle is above average too!
The reason I didn't like it THAT much after all is, that it focusses way to little on the romance. There are like 5 side-plots about childhood friends, literature, making promises and similar generic stuff that I honestly couldn't care less about. It's not badly executed by any means, it's just not what I wanted.
If you're looking for a captivating, sad, ugly, emotional, or really any kind of meaningful love story, you'll probably be dissapointed. Overall, the anime is still very tastefully done though!

There are countless directions I could take this review, and yet my thoughts keep returning to a single truth: After the Rain is not merely a love story, but a quiet meditation on what it means to feel and to heal. Despite its seemingly controversial premise, a romance between two innocent souls separated by a wide gulf of years, it blossoms into one of the purest, rawest, and most innocent depictions of love I’ve seen in recent memory. It’s untouched by the vulgarity of lust or the spectacle of modern passion. There’s no need for carnal gestures, no desperate urgency to claim or consume; instead, the anime chooses silence, restraint, and grace. Even without the touch of lips, it feels achingly intimate, a reminder that love, in its deepest form, does not need the validation of flesh.

Animation is God tier, with a lot of love poured in.
Characters are engaging.
Cons:
The Story ends in a very haphazard manner.
Recommendation:
Highly Recommended for a one time watch for the quality of Animation at least. Story:
Story is very unique, with themes of rediscovering something lost to oneself.
Art style Fits the Story well.
Characters are rooted and well rounded.
Very Shoujo-esqe story, but it is a story which has heart.
Overall Rating: 6, however my wife to be empathized a lot with the friend character arc tot he point she had tears so bumping it to a 7.

First of all, I want to make one thing clear: Despite the premise, a 17-year-old girl developing feelings for a much older man, After the Rain contains no uncomfortable or inappropriate scenes. This is something I really appreciate! I was fully prepared to stop watching if the show took a questionable turn, but that never happened.
Instead, I was blown away by the sheer beauty of the art and animation. After the Rain is a visual feast! The backgrounds, in particular, are absolutely stunning. You could pause at any random moment and use it as a wallpaper! In this regard, I have no hesitation in comparing it to Your Name, one of the most breathtakingly animated films ever made.
The character designs, especially the female lead, felt a bit too thin and stylized for my taste. Given the high…

(Spanish review below).
This anime left me with a bittersweet taste.
I was really enjoying it at first, but halfway through I started to get bored. Even though the characters are well developed and the premise is interesting, I felt that the episodes were repetitive. I'm not sure if it needed more drama or more events to happen, but what was happening was definitely not enough for me.
At no point did I expect anything to happen between the main characters, so I wasn't disappointed, nor was I surprised. In fact, I like that it ended the way it did, with the two of them reflecting on each other and finding inspiration and strength in each other.
The characters are well developed, but I couldn't connect with any of them. I feel that, as I said, their conflict is a bit repetitive and I wou…

A very moving and eye opening anime. It's well animated and immerses you into their world. I couldn't stop watching. I had to keep watching. I had to find out what happened, why it happened and the conclusion. This was a great romance anime.
Despite my grudge against one character, the show was heartwarming. It's an interesting premise given the real world implications of their relationship, however I think the show carries it out well enough to not be weird. I'm usually not one romance anime but unless it's comedy but this one kept me coming back to watch episode after episode. It intrigued me till the last episode.
This is definitely a very interesting concept that I don't think has been done quite as well as this. Interesting, funny and a joy to watch.

TLDR: RECOMMENDED
Thoughts:
A mature take on relationship that is not afraid to deconstruct it's troupe and premise, just two soul longing for comfort and reset in life in order to move forward. Truly an amazing and simple work that doesnt over stay its welcome but gave enough time to give its message.
Animation & Music (10/10):
This is Wit Studio masterworks with colors combine with one of the best music out there, Starting with a PERFECT Opening and Ending song. It capture the duality of the story both mood and lyrics. Chico and Aimer perfectly represent this with soothing and pumping lyrics. I am amaze how unskippable both options are. Wit studio also keep the color tone moody and atmospheric, it's not afraid to show dark reality or colorful moment without being a love letter to anim…

This anime isn't really about romance. It's about not giving up on your youth.
Really pretty animation. Music is great. This show is so full of life. All of the details, right from the first episode, from the track team's belongings to the different groups of diners at the restaurant, show how thoughtful this series is in bringing forward its world before we even get to know the main character(s) who inhabit it.
The rest of my review is just going to talk about the romance aspect of this series -----
Obviously, the premise seems a little suspect. A high school girl and a 45-yo man? Upon watching the series, however, you quickly realize that the 45-yo man actually makes this series A LOT more wholesome than some other school romance anime. Whereas other series use cliches of hormonal bo…

This anime is a masterpiece that's completely misunderstood due its misleading description and exterior. At a first glance it can be mistaken for a controversial age gap romance. IT IS NOT. Whilst there is some romantic interest harboured by the female protagonist (Tachibana) Kondou (the male lead) never pursues a relationship with her and it Is later realised by Tachibana that her love isnt really anything to do with him. Behind the surface, this anime Is a romance in the sense that both leads have lost their love and passion for the things they both enjoy. For Kondou, its writing literature. For Tachibana it's running track and field. Due to an injury, Akira quits her team, leaving her to feel isolated and disconnected from her friends and her passion. Similarly, kondou is a middle aged,…

I started watching this anime because I thought the art style is good and looked liked it's a story about controversial relationship and how it unfolds. It was good for first few episodes. Then after few episodes the story was not going anywhere and stayed stagnated.then suddenly it left the current story of the main characters relationship and started a new story of their passion. And that too in last 4 episodes.although we can relate to female lead as her struggle and passion for dream was clearly shown.the male lead was a full wishy washy character. He was a character of no significance and he is a type of character who would not even qualify for side character.thats the level of presence he has in this story.so this anime didn't show how the relationship unfolded nor how they achieved…

“Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.”- Rabindranath Tagore
The quote I have mentioned earlier is kind of related to the series named After the Rain (Japanese Name: Koi wa Ameagari no You ni) (2018). This series showed the story of Tachibana Akira, a reserved high school student and a former track runner who has not been able to run because of a severe foot injury. While working part-time at the Garden Café, she develops a one sided feeling toward Kondou Masami, the manager of the café, despite having a large age-gap.
What I liked about this series is it showcases a beautiful yet heartwarming relationship between Tachibana and Kondou-san, even though the feeling happens to be one-sided. I liked how these two charact…

A beautiful story in both visuals and message. At first glance, it is just a show with an eyebrow raising premise and thats about it. But as you get into it you realise that the romance is not the point of this show at all really. Its point is all about the love for one's passions and hobbies, reigniting them, the people who you celebrate these passions with and overcoming past failures.
So yes, at its core it is a show about characters reigniting their love for their hobbies with the help of those around them. The basically one sided romance being a side plot that aids the progression of the main point above and is almost forgotten by the end of the show.

The other reviews here don't lie. From the premise, I was wary about the show. A handful of episodes in, it was cute. A few more and I almost hated it. Stick with it though, seriously. This is one of the few shows that really doesn't show its hand until late in the game. By the end, by the time I realized what the story was actually about, it became a really touching show about a lot of complicated feelings. Plus, this show absolutely ADORES literature, and moved me enough to get me to start reading again. I've been learning Japanese for a few years now and am gonna try tackling some Japanese literature, starting small with Banana Yoshimoto's Kitchen, which I've read before in translation. Any show which motivates me to make a real change in my day to day habits is doing something right, i…

Spoiler-free should-you-watch review:
Elephant in the room: the premise of this anime is that a high school girl has developed feelings for her 45 year old boss. I opted to watch After the Rain after being disillusioned by so many modern anime that sexualize kids and young teens. It seemed like an extreme scenario, one that would be ostensibly indefensible if it happened in the other anime I'd been complaining about. What finally convinced me to look into it were the many reviews that assured me the subject matter was treated well. They were not wrong.
After the Rain's story is like eating pufferfish; poisonous if handled improperly, but a delicacy when perpared by someone qualified. After the rain is tender and thoughtful, and it does an incredible job of juggling, just in view of the c…

Koi wa Ameagari no You ni, or After the Rain, is a wonderful coming of age drama that's been regarded in a problematic light all too often. Of course, it's not without reason: Akira is a 17 year old former track star that was forced to quit due to an achilles injury. Having withdrawn from those around her, she currently works a part time job at a family restaraunt, harboring a one sided crush on her manager at work: Kondou Masami, age 45.
Now, seemingly immoral as the premise may be, After the Rain handles its tension with tact and sensitivity. The "pedophile bait" tactic that I've seen used to diminish the show's appeal doesn't stand a chance in the face of its delicate approach to its own "fault". Well aware of the unusual nature of Akira's feelings, the protagonists slowly warm up to t…

When I first went in to this story I was expecting a romantic story with a character wanting to me more then friends, but that just the first arc of this show. The show becomes something more then that. It’s a story that strictly bases its story line on character growth.
It takes you on a deep dive in to each one of the main characters and how they able to grow from each other. The relationship they have is not the romantic kind bu the kind that allows both of them to become better.
I do believe this show is quite good and provides you with a story you engaging with but also really relatable for sure. Even though the story is good it does feel slightly played out. The struggles that the 2 characters go through are very common, and at times it does feel like I have seen this formula for…

I wish I was the rain, so I could easily feel you.
…the swallow that truly gives up on flying…would likely even forget about looking up at the sky.
I don’t know why but again I stumbled upon another anime where a high school kid has a crush on their teacher. For the first 2 or 3 episodes, I thought it’s just going to be another romance about forbidden love. However, I’m glad that after that the anime revealed itself to be more than just that.
In its core After the Rain uses rain as an overarching metaphor of the internal struggle inside each of the character in the show. Characters walking in the rain is a recurrent scene whenever the characters had to think hard about their struggle.
This is where the purpose of the forbidden love is revealed. Although it’s a teenager falling in love…
