The more I try to look at other genres , the more miserable I feel about my life and my choices
I usually look for anime using the ''random anime'' feature on the website I use and it gave me this one. at first it seemed interesting to have an anime about trying to overcome past relationships and whatnot to go further in life
the problem is that this anime was written by a bunch of guys who are still single. The anime is 12 episodes of people bitching and whining about everything. the characters are quite bland and for Pete's sake I can't anymore with this confession trope on the 12th episode.
this anime is the prime definition of a bad quality romance for a bunch of miserable people. by watching it I am now part of this demographic and I will now go cry in the corner to question my…

I picked this anime randomly recently to watch. Overall, I can't say it's "bad," but I can't recommend it in good faith to anyone. The story is painfully frustrating. Yeah, that's the best way to describe this story. Frustrating.
Like, one of the main dudes in the story has a gal waiting for him every day after he is done with work. Dude can't put two and two together that maybe this chick is into him. But, of course, he is hung up on a previous gal from college (and she has mixed feelings because she is caught up with a guy who passed away when she was younger).
I feel this whole story could have wrapped up in fewer episodes somehow (maybe contained in a short movie) versus being dragged out into a bunch of episodes where the pacing is, again, painfully frustrating. I'll give it credit…

This show isn't really a romance in a traditional sense. All of the actual feelings and relationship dynamics predate the show itself. Because of this and other choices, it is very flat dramatically. Most people who like romance dramas will find this show very lacking. There is no typical buildup of romantic tension or enjoyment derived from being able to see characters fall in love. It's status-quo outside of the last episode. As a slice of life it's okay, but it fails at being a drama.
The main relationship of the show is the dynamic between Rikuo and Shinako. As characters they're both a bit hard to describe... Shinako isn't really a character outside of being desirable, pretty, somewhat passive, and duty-bound. She is also a bit closed off to love and dating. She is like a old widow.…

If you are looking for an anime that only offers these three things: romantic drama, love triangles, and emotional confusion, this is the anime for you. Don't ask for anything more.
This is a slow-paced anime (some might find it boring), focused on the romantic drama experienced by the characters and thus, on the three elements previously mentioned—no more, no less.
And as for the final, it is an unexpected conclusion that many people won't like, but I personally enjoyed it because it’s a “non-predictable” final.
In conclusion, I recommend this anime to anyone who is satisfied with just the three elements I mentioned at the beginning, but if you're looking for something additional or more "action-packed," this is not your anime.

I don’t mind slow stories . I like sometime emotional stuff, real feelings, all that. But this show? It’s like watching people emotionally procrastinate for twelve episodes straight.
Rikuo spends the whole time being confused about his life and love life, Shinako’s out here collecting regrets like Pokémon, and Haru’s just the chaotic crow girl trying to inject some energy into the world’s quietest soap opera. Spoiler: it doesn’t work.
It’s not that it’s bad it’s too real sometimes. The problem is that “real” doesn’t always mean entertaining. After a few episodes, I stopped feeling sad for the characters and started yelling “please just talk to each other” at my screen.
The art? Gorgeous. The music? Melancholic in a nice way. The story? Imagine emotional limbo stretched into an entire se…

It's a great thing not to be influenced by other's opinion of something. I absolutely loved this anime. It was slow and peaceful but also energetic and full of complexities of emotions and who we are. Understanding oneself, the dilemmas of your 20s, the confusion of feelings of love and life, getting to know yourself and being clear about what you want- it had all. Plus an adult cast just makes things so much better and less glossy, which I enjoy. I'm also kinda biased to anything that has crows especially as pets, so yeah. And you know you're gonna remember an anime when you immediately go to watch its AMVs after finishing it. Oh I loved the ending Aoibridge by Sayuri. 🤧🖤

The love is superficial for everyone, they just decide that they love someone and that's it instead of actually showing development of feelings.
There are so much characters loving the same persons and for multiple of them that it's a comedy at this point and for literally everyone there is no reason at all for their love. Not even physical attraction, it's just there.
This anime is just here to throw superficial drama with nothing interesting. The characters don't evolve and there are even past classmate that just show off to declare their love and bring more chaos before just leaving because otherwise there is nothing to say.
I do not recommended, this is really bad and it was a waste of my time.

when i first started watching this, i thought maybe i just wasn't the target audience... but with each episode i realised that that wasn't the case, it's just not interesting. after the first two episodes, the plot moves at a snail's pace and the same thing happens basically every episode and isn't satisfying in the least. it can be summed up like this: two grown adults are kind of dating each other while each leading on a hopelessly devoted teenager. my main advice for anyone thinking of watching this: just watch Kuzu no Honkai. similar themes but things actually happen and the characters are fleshed out.
the MC is dreadful. he is miserable and every single one of his problems is his own fault. for the first few episodes he feels hopeless because he works part-time, and then he gets reje…

Yet another first review used on this show. Really incredible that they had me so seriously for almost the whole season (despite not developing like, the two critical secondaries and one of the protagonists), character regression and slow burn and all, and then completely ruin the ending. Honestly would’ve been a 7/10, maybe even 8/10, but the last two episodes made me want to pull my hair out. Outstanding. If you watch it, stop at the end of E10. You’ll be thankful.
To be clear: I liked the main protagonist’s development, I guess; but why was everyone else in this stupid love zig-zag so stagnant? Every time I finally, *finally* thought they were changing, we went right back to zero. And I wouldn’t even mind the secondaries being flatter, I guess, since they’re romantic rivals (lol) whose…

I need to move this show out of my head so here's a collection of words.
I started & dropped the show in October of 2023 after the first four episodes were dense & I wasn’t attached to the characters. I returned to watch it in January 2025 and found myself enjoying the human characters, density & drama to the point of completion although the initial episodes had higher quality than the later and felt significantly longer than their 20 minute allocation. I recommend this title to those in early adulthood or older as you may find similarities with the cast but keep in mind it is far from perfect, lacks consistent pacing, is frustrating and the overall message changes as the episodes stack.
The first half of Sing Yesterday for Me was slow but dense with a focus on loss of purpose after schoo…

This is yet another person writing their first review on this site just to warn others not to waste their time with this title. I read the premise of this show and I immediately thought it was worth the shot, specially since I've always appreciated productions that use 'normal' people as characters that manage to tell a compelling story. The first episodes actually made me think that this series actually had some merit until we get to the midseason. Two characters are introduced but they are absolutely irrelevant to the rest of the story and offer no further reactions to the main cast, even though basically two episodes are focused on these new characters.
Even if it isn't necessary for supporting characters to have big impact, the main reason why this seems like such a waste of screen ti…

So I just finished watching the show to put it simply. I'm not gonna make this long, so I'm gonna keep it short. This show clearly shows that love is complicated. And sometimes we have to realize that some people are just. They are for a space to fill in and I'm saying this. I think it taught the difference between love and friendship. And just because you're a strong friendship for someone doesn't necessarily mean that it's gonna push towards a better relationship. Not to say that friendships don't turn into co relationships in the future. But this show clearly just it was a tear jerker. And honestly I can't say was completely horrible because it definitely kept me watching each episode. It was addictive and it was very dramatic.
I personally feel the authentic data. Really good job, k…

i wasn't a romance fan before this, and i don't think i am after this
let's start the positive, the animation, and art direction en general was nice, it had a good vibe, it was pretty to look at
okay, now with the negatives
i hated the 4 main characters, but one less than the others, let's star with my less hated character, and heart of the show:
Haru: she's a 18 year old, school drop out, that has mega crush on rikuo for some reason (i know love it's complicated, but give me a believable reason, not that she just fell in love with him just because) even tho he's an asshole most of the time, because clearly he doesn't want her near him, but she's gonna do everything in her power to make him fall for her, even tho again, he doesn't want her, she's very naive and insistent to the point wh…

The slice of life kind of storytelling was okayish at best, but the ending was horrible, or at least feels unfinished, I elaborate down below, at the very bottom, but with spoilers.
The characters were written well, except for the mc, so I was expecting more from the anime. But that's the only positive thing I have to say. The story itself was driven by pure stupidity half the time which is a shame. I understand that the story needs *something* because of the slice of life nature, but this is not it.
The art was okay at best, fits this bad anime if you ask me.
--- SPOLER ---
The ending is just soooooo bad. I'm fine with the idea of Shinako and Rikuo are not meant to be, their "relationship" was honestly awkward so I didn't mind them backing off and agreeing to be friends. But tell me w…

If Scums Wish and Domestic Girlfriend had a child.
I think this anime is a pioneer in the field of seinen and slice of life, two genres which are my favourite. I recommend this to anyone who likes either of this genre along with romance.
The anime might feel a little childish at first but this anime gives off the vibe of Blue Period while merging into the romance genre, the show is slow in dialogue but its actually very crammed into 12 episode and a lot of emotions and stories are conveyed in as little time as possible. The main takeaway from this anime is "Value the present more than the past".

Made for those of us in our 20s who want something even just a LITTLE more relatable out of the romance genre. Here our cast is split between working adults and college students, and the situations explored make it a perfect getaway from your overdone Festival arcs and Beach episodes.
Sing "Yesterday" For Me benefits greatly from not having a traditional anime opening. The spared runtime alongside the perfectly-executed pacing early on allow each episode (at least the first 4-6) to feel unusually, satisfyingly long.
Unfortunately, the second half of the show becomes a little sloppy. Evidently, this is around the time when a lot of content from the source material was cut or extremely condensed. In a 12-episode stint, it is of course difficult to work everything in, but even though I've…

Don't waste your time - NOTHING happens here. Just some mundane people doing mundane things. No character development, no sweet love moments, no cool twists, even the drama is not up to par! Nothing. The two main female characters behave extremely inadequate and disrespectfully towards the male characters. I swear, if someone treated me like that - constantly changing their mind and giving me false hope - i would immediately kick them out of my life, rather than feeling bad AND CLING TO THEM!! I really don't know why I kept watching - probably was hoping for something to change, but then came the finale which was downright cringeworthy.
That aside, the animation, music and overall setting are on point - a typical slow-paced slice of life anime. I read here that the manga is good and I feel…

The animation staff did an amazing job at breathing life into Kei Toume's characters. I cried at the end of the first episode, hardly believing that the formative manga that helped me through my early 20's had finally reached the big screen.
I wish it hadn't.
It's just a... blasphemous mockery of everything that made the manga what it is. They failed to capture the intricacies of the characters, who felt like real people with real issues. I wouldn't even know if they hastily tried to fit the entire slow burn 113 chapters into 12 episodes, I dropped it after episode 6.
Just read the manga.

Is love a simple matter? Then expect everything from this anime. You will meet a good dose of introspection and a lot of emotions. And we don’t talk only about romantic love because love has many shapes. The show will engage you but keep space for surprises and, please, approach it as a fiction more realistic than you can think of. And probably this is why some people didn’t enjoy our characters. Life isn’t always a happy ending, instead it offers surprises and compromises. We grow like our characters, therefore decisions, feelings and hopes are often influenced by the past. The point is, are we going to stay stuck in it or we will use to build our future? I hope you will enjoy the series, probably closed too early. Have fun.
