ReLIFE

Introduction

Dismissed as a hopeless loser by those around him, 27-year-old Arata Kaizaki bounces around from one job to another after quitting his first company. His unremarkable existence takes a sharp turn when he meets Ryou Yoake, a member of the ReLife Research Institute, who offers Arata the opportunity to change his life for the better with the help of a mysterious pill. Taking it without a second thought, Arata awakens the next day to find that his appearance has reverted to that of a 17-year-old. Arata soon learns that he is now the subject of a unique experiment and must attend high school as a transfer student for one year. Though he initially believes it will be a cinch due to his superior life experience, Arata is proven horribly wrong on his first day: he flunks all his tests, is completely out of shape, and can't keep up with the new school policies that have cropped up in the last 10 years. Furthermore, Ryou has been assigned to observe him, bringing Arata endless annoyance. ReLIFE follows Arata's struggle to adjust to his hectic new lifestyle and avoid repeating his past mistakes, all while slowly discovering more about his fellow classmates. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

genuinely a once in a lifetime romance anime I remember watching it back in 2016 when it just came every week I waited for a new episode and it was so worth it. Rewatching this peak lit gave me tears no joke it was so good. im confident to say that this is one par with darling in the franx. The art style is so unique it just reminds me of anime from back in the 2017s they were so peak. I enjoyed watching this and recommend it. The ending is also a 10/10 no season 2 needed it was perfect. this romance gave me a feeling that ive never felt like nostalgia it is so good def watch it 10/10

Imagine reaching your late twenties and feeling like you've run out of time. The job you wanted never worked out, you have no clear direction, and every rejection slowly convinces you that maybe this is all life has to offer. Then someone gives you one impossible chance to start over. That's the premise of ReLIFE. Arata Kaizaki, a 27 year old unemployed man, joins an experimental rehabilitation program that restores his teenage appearance and places him back in high school for a year. It sounds like the setup for a comedy or another fantasy about reliving your youth. I'm not there yet, but I'm getting close. By this time next year, I'll have graduated from college and will probably be stressing over internships, job applications, and whatever comes after that. When I watched ReLIFE in hig…

I read the manga some years ago and loved it. It was time for me to watch the anime, having forgotten a lot of what happens in the story, and wanting to make progress towards completing the Anime Watching Challenge 2026. The animation is decent, and a bit outdated. The colors are nice. The backgrounds are often the same, with not that many variations in the scenery. The characters are easily recognizable, thanks to their quirks. The story is well-paced. The high school setting is starting to feel a bit repetitive to me (classes, festivals, class rep, sports sessions, homework, exams...), but it fits the theme. I appreciated the last episodes, which made me want to watch the sequel. The music is a bit peculiar: it has a strong piano jazz feel, with not that many variations in the instrument…

This is a pretty cool anime. I finished the 13 episodes and someone recommended me to read the manga instead of watching the ovas and i´m making it. Nowdays i´m watching a lot of anime about second oportunities and redention archs and i think this anime may be one very good example of what i´m searching to watch. I came to it waiting something like Bokutachi no Remake and i liked more bokutachi no remake, however i think this is a more mature trama than Bokutachi no Remake (you can appreciate it better in the manga) and i highly recommend u to watch this anime if you´re searching for something deep but easy to watch.

ReLIFE or, as I like to call it: “WhitePill: the Anime”, is one of the greatest school anime of all time. Imagine that, instead of going to a generic isekai world of elves and magic, you have a chance to relive your lost school years from scratch and, after such experience, you even end up getting a new job and perhaps a girlfriend? Sounds pretty much like the dream of any failure of a grown-ass man, right? But that’s precisely the premise of this anime. Jokes apart, besides its appealing to a relatable “magical solution” to the two most common problems of early male adulthood, this anime is a true gem with no parallels. The characters, which are drawn in a unique style which is neither nostalgic nor modern, are carefully written and well-developed. Apart from the main couple, even the…

I don't know what to add to other reviews, this anime ranks really high on the story aspect. I've always been disillusioned by how the story quality of most animes and manga been, and i also stopped watching anime for many years because I'm now older and have less time for watching anime because of work and other real world issues. But this anime hits different, or rather i will say this story, this is clearly was aimed at adults who are dealing with issues of adult life, like finding work and keeping it, plus it speaks to those of us who are still dealing with relationships with other people, like social anxiety, reading the atmosphere in a group,,,etc I can't stress how this anime is unique in this aspect, and i think it speaks for adults who failed their youth, and didn't use that oppor…

I did not have high hopes in terms of quality for ReLIFE. Quite honestly, I thought it would be a story about a 27 year old loser who very easily becomes the "king of high school". Thankfully, this was not the case at all, and I believe you will be pleasantly surprised like I was. - preface (actually kind of important) - ReLIFE has a total of 16 episodes. 13 are in the first season, with the extra 4 coming from the OVA. There is a large amount of cut content from the OVA that is present in the manga. The OVA still contains all of the important parts of the manga to make a sound story, but if you really love the series you should read the manga instead of watching the OVA. I have not read the manga, so this is coming strictly from others who claim that they have, but something like this is…

Usually I don’t watch or connect with Animes like this, but for some reason ReLIFE pulled me in from the very first episode. The concept itself isn’t completely unique, but it’s executed extremely well. Even when parts of the story felt predictable, it didn’t hurt the experience the strength of the series is in the characters and how naturally everything unfolds. The art style fits the tone perfectly: simple, clean which works well for a story that focuses more on emotions and personal growth than flashy visuals. Kaizaki is a very relatable main character with clear flaws and strengths, and watching him slowly change felt genuine rather than forced. The side characters are well-written too, each adding something meaningful to the story instead of feeling like background filler. Character…

Note: This will be a review of the series in its entirety. Overview: It really says a lot about how fondly the years of school are looked back on by Japanese people that about half of all anime revolve around it in one way or another. However, while it may take place in a fairly standard high school setting, "ReLIFE" still manages to stand on its own by telling its story from a perspective you almost never see in this kind of this series- that of a fully-grown adult. It may not seem like much, but this fresh perspective breaths a level of maturity rarely found in this kind of show, resulting in a unique, interesting and highly enjoyable, if still far from flawless, series. Story (8/10): Imagine if your life has taken a turn for the absolute worse, to the point that you feel like there's…

Context is the key to understanding any form of art. And within art there is a subset of works which are incomprehensible without the cultural context, the reason for its existence. A proud member of this group is ReLIFE, a show that builds its value on the bleak reality of regular salaryman's life in south-east asia (SEA), Japan included. The show tells a tale of a program that's meant to resocialize NEETs (Not in Education, Employment or Training), the "failures" of society by giving them a chance to relive a year in a high school, and a job prospect afterwards (if the experiment is successful that is). The participant in the limelight is Kaizaki Arata - a 27yo shutin who lost all of his hope for a better life, a shut-in. After coming back from a night out drinking and lying to his frie…

Story I went into this show blindly, only knowing it was a romance with a school theme. Many anime like this end up being nothing but fluff, but ReLIFE feels different. There is actual development in both the story and the relationships between characters. My main issue is with the logic of the whole experiment. What is the real point of the ReLIFE program? What are the long-term goals or benefits? The idea is interesting, but its execution feels inconsistent. Artstyle It’s a typical 2016 anime look, so older compared to today’s standards, but I think it still holds up. The designs are clean, and it has its own refreshing charm even after almost a decade. Conclusion I think this anime is worth trying. Even though it’s not perfect, I never felt bored while watching and stayed engaged with…

...Please read this review before you read the negative ones... 7.5/10 - Teenage Rom-coms in anime or anime in general offen detach themselves so far away from real life just to please the viewer's opinions. In these most of the characters are made way too Mature and Emotionally deep thinkers and complex that most Teenagers simply aren't .BUT BUT BUT.. this is where ReLIFE stands out, A lot of critics of this anime simply want the typical Fake Rom-com experience they have been served agan and again and when they don't find it here they criticise this because of their expectations..This show is the most i have seen feel like Real-Life. STORY:- Again this show simply reiterates through a typical Real High-school life which was Paired with the obviously ReLife. I have no complaints with the s…

8/10- This is what I wanted from Remake Our Life. This is so much better. The story about basically redoing your life has been done dozens of times, but this one was special. Its a premise you may have seen in a few romcoms, but ReLife does it in a such a refreshing way that I couldn't help but binge this show. There is not a single episode that feels like it was added to hit runtime requirements. The show may also be more relatable to an older audience. The main theme of ReLife is personal growth, and all of it feels very real. Characters are so well written that you can't help but root for them. Arata is mature and likeable. He faces a lot of problems when he goes back to the school, but each setback helps him grow into a more mature understanding adult. It helps him reintegrate, and…

Personal stats: as of May 2025, I've finished 161 animes with a mean score of 7.31. ReLIFE rating: 10/10. ReLIFE is one of those anime that looks light and fun on the outside, but deep down, it deals with serious and emotional topics. It’s not very hard to watch, but the feelings it gives you can be very strong — especially if you’ve been through similar struggles in life. Even though most of the story takes place in a high school, this anime isn’t really about school life. The main character is actually 28 years old — someone who feels lost in adult life and is given a chance to “start over” by going back to high school for one year (you'll see this in first minutes of episode 1). The school setting is just a way to reflect on bigger things: regret, confidence, social pressure, failure,…

There have been so many iterations on the concept of reincarnation in anime that my nervous system has been cognitively primed to lower my heart rate and decrease my brain function to soften the blow on my psyche. In fact, just before watching this, I just so happened to force myself to finish Redo of Healer, which was an absolute journey in and of itself. Suffice to say, watching any show that begins with the letters “R” and “e” nowadays renders me nearly comatose, with the exception of Re:Zero. In desperate need of ReHAB post-Redo of Healer, I stumbled upon ReLIFE – advertising a large departure from modern fantasy slop, and hopefully a much needed rePRIEVE. I don’t know why the letters are stylized like that, nor do I care. ReLIFE presents the modest character journey of a 27-year-old…

watch it watch it watch it!!! (quick rating bottom most) honest review though, this season did bore me out a bit through the first few eps, but man it was all for the good plot built-up, it was ALL worth it. Besides, the normal daily routine that kind of "bored" me out may have been a showcase of realistic daily life, going to school, taking exams, having lunch with comrades, that's been a part of the story line which really makes you feel you're inside a life in this anime. What gives this anime cherry on top was the 4-episode sequel season, I'm so so glad it wasn't anything like Plastic Memories, I was tearing up and screaming, cheering for that ep 17 ending (> D <;;) just, super satisfying, and honestly you won't see the plot twists only until it's in the middle of being revealed, so I…

After wading through some of the hottest garbage rom-com anime has to offer, ReLife was a much-needed breath of fresh air. If you’re tired of the usual clichés and forced misunderstandings, I highly recommend giving it a watch. 1. Art - 7/10 (Good) The animation is clean and consistent, with no real noticable dips in quality. It’s nothing extraordinary, but it does more than enough for a rom-com, making for a smooth and enjoyable watch. 2. Sound - 5/10 (Average) The free jazz soundtrack is alright. Some tracks fit decently, but others, especially the unmelodic piano segments, felt distracting or even neurotic sometimes. It’s serviceable overall, with few standout tracks. The opening and endings aren’t particularly memorable, and I honestly just skipped them every time. 3. Story/Plot -…

ReLIFE is an incredibly gripping anime. I finished it in just two days, though I could have easily watched it in a single sitting—it was that engaging. I deliberately paced myself because I didn’t want to rush through it too quickly. The story pulls you in so effectively that it’s hard to stop watching. One of the anime’s strongest aspects is its unique and thought-provoking premise. The concept feels fresh and keeps you invested throughout. However, when it comes to the characters, I didn’t find them particularly memorable. By the time I finished the series, I could barely recall their names, likely because they lack distinct qualities that set them apart. The exception to this is Hishiro, who stands out the most among the cast. That being said, I did appreciate how the anime explores th…

The shows strongest aspect is how it handles different issues that people may face in their youth, ways in how one can deal with them, and how that relates to similar issues one may face later in life. It does a great job exploring those issues in a personal way that's easy to relate to, or feel sympathy for if you can't personally relate. There are a handful of issues that are keeping this from being a 9, although I'm pretty sure the Final Arc special will fix some of the issues I have (or at least I hope so). For starters, the show really should have been twice as long as it was. Being 26 episodes really would've given the time needed for the story to explore even more similar issues, and really build this idea of becoming a different person from the ReLife program. While it doesn't feel…

This is my first review, and for good reason. This show wasted my time and ultimately left me upset. After watching the first episode, I was hooked! However, this feeling did not stick around. Story: This guy is unhappy with his current life and is offered to take a pill to appear younger and attend high school. This show had the potential to be a masterpiece but just decided not to be. Before I go any further I want to applaud the fact that this show did not sexualize high school girls. I really appreciated that and it made it so much easier to watch. The main character was surprisingly not a pedo and actively reminded himself these girls are in high school and romanticizing them is weird. However, this did not cover up the fact that the story just wasn't there. 90% of this show was fol…
