ABSOLUTE GEM. I enjoyed golden time so much, its actually insane. the characters where perfect. the story was perfect. the art was perfect. the music was perfect. i might be stupid but i genuinely see now flaws in this anime. ive watched this anime twice while im not even that kind of person who watches a series again, that says something about how good it is. i see people saying golden time is more comedy then drama wich i mean comedy yes there is, but less drama? i wonder if we have watched the same anime bc 90% of the anime is just drama. been a while since i watched this but i think this is accurate to my memory

This is my favorite show of all time. Every time I feel in the dumps, I take some time to watch this show to help me push through and remember my loved ones. It makes me sad to see bad reviews, or when people tell me that the show is mid. Tada's amnesiac journey offers a grounded, compelling story about identity and self discovery. He is relatable with his actions, even when some of them are just straight dumb. His relationship with Kokou and Linda are complicated, chaotic, and heart aching. My favorite point of the series is "Wake Up Call." The chapter really includes every character's weaknesses being brought to light. If any character deserved more care, it would be "2D." I wish that he had a dramatic arc like the others do.

Golden Time is, in my opinion, the best romance anime ever made. It perfectly blends romance, comedy, drama, and character development into a heartfelt and unforgettable story. The cast is charming, the emotions feel genuine, and the college setting gives the series a refreshing perspective. Kouko Kaga is, in my opinion, the greatest waifu of all time and the most beautiful girl in anime, and I truly believe anime will never give us another waifu like her. The series is an emotional roller coaster filled with heartfelt moments and unexpected twists that keep you invested from beginning to end. Golden Time is the anime of my life. I laughed, I cried so much, and I know I'll never forget the emotions it made me feel. If you're looking for an emotional and beautifully written romance, Gold…

Hey, let me tell you a few things about “Golden Time”. It’s right up on the synopsis for this anime that the main character (Banri) is an amnesiac. Okay, so that shouldn’t surprise you (which is a shame, it could be quite the nice surprise if you were none the wiser and an avid enjoyer of this trope—oh, well). Some people don’t like that premise, so consider yourself warned. The next big thing to know is how the anime will deal with this storyline. It will be central to the narrative but it won’t be very realistic. You have to see it more as a plot device to elicit drama than anything else (or as a symbolic representation of psychological trauma, if you want to sound more pompous). If you are okay with that, then you can rest easy: “Golden Time” is the anime for you. It will certainly sati…

I quite enjoyed it! Anime from 2005 to 2016 carried a certain charm, I can’t quite explain it, but they had a way of making you feel part of the story. This anime is excellent; the plot is original, and anyone tired of the current crop of storylines will likely appreciate it. The characters are easy to relate to, and each receives a well-balanced amount of screen time. Of course, as with any romance, there are moments of melodrama, but that’s perfectly normal. Don’t put much stock in the older reviews; the anime market was different when those early critiques were written. The soundtrack is used with tasteful restraint, reinforcing emotion without overpowering the dialogue. The episodes’ pacing strikes a nice balance between light, airy moments and heavier drama, which keeps the interest…

Two horrible people fall in love. They deserve each other. That being said, this does WAY more in terms of character development and it actually TRIES to be something other than just another rom-com. The two main characters are SUPER flawed. But they learn to fix and deal with their own flaws in their own way (mostly). I kinda hated Kaga for about the first 9ish episodes, she felt like she didn't actually care about anything or anyone other than to fill her own desires. But then she grew on me (I guess that's how tv shows work.) Banri actually did the opposite. I really liked him, then he kind of felt a bit self centered in terms of his own relationship, but by the end he was fine. The side characters are the best part about this show, just about every single one of them I find to be a…

Golden Time explores memory, identity, and the weight of timing in relationships. The story balances romance with psychological conflict, creating an emotional narrative that feels both dramatic and painfully realistic. Its strength lies in character-driven storytelling rather than plot twists. Golden Time is brilliantly written, but let’s be honest: the ending hurts not because it’s deep— it hurts because the most compatible relationship was deliberately sacrificed. Banri and Linda had natural chemistry, emotional balance, and mutual understanding. That kind of connection doesn’t come from chaos—it comes from alignment. Banri choosing Kouko makes sense narratively, but not emotionally. It feels like the story rewarded urgency over suitability, noise over harmony. Maybe that’s realisti…

Golden Time may not have a completely unique or unpredictable story, especially for fans familiar with romance and drama anime, but it still manages to be engaging because of its strong emotional focus and college-life setting. Even when certain plot developments feel predictable, the series remains enjoyable due to how deeply it explores themes of love, identity, memory, and personal growth. The art style fits the tone of the story well, using expressive character designs and soft colors to support both cheerful romantic moments and heavier emotional scenes. The characters are mostly well-rounded, with believable strengths and flaws—Banri’s inner conflict and Kouko’s mix of confidence and insecurity make them feel human rather than idealized. Their reactions to events can be dramatic at t…

When I started watching this anime, I felt that the characters weren’t compatible with each other, particularly the main duo. The beginning of Koko and Banri’s relationship felt a bit forced to me; normally in stories where one character is noticeably more attractive and has a stronger personality than the other, the relationship develops gradually as the episodes progress, but in this case it’s much more abrupt. Because of the lack of initial chemistry, the beginning of the series felt somewhat weak to me, and also I’m not a fan of “simp-like” characters such as Banri. However, as the story went on, I found the romance more believable, ending with what I think is one of the best conclusions in terms of romantic drama. Overall, it’s a series I recommend even if the romantic drama isn’t its…

To be honest, I didn't really click with Koko since she's just not my type (up until the very end). !!But that doesn't mean the anime is bad though!! Not at all. It's just a personal take. I loved the story and would totally recommend it; the plot is solid and the character development feels really natural, so you eventually grow to love her. 9/10. The protagonist didn't end up with the person I would've liked, though :( !!!SPOILER¡¡¡¡ The only bit I got confused by was when past Tada takes control of the current Banri haha, but there’s nothing forums can’t fix when you're trying to make sense of it >:3

Golden Time is often praised as a mature college romance, but in reality it feels like middle school drama disguised as a university setting. The characters are in college yet consistently behave in the most immature, illogical, and exaggerated ways possible. The comedy completely failed for me not a single joke landed. In fact, many so-called “emotional” or “sad” scenes were unintentionally more funny than the comedy itself due to how overdramatic and cringe the execution was. Sudden shouting, instant emotional switches, and exaggerated reactions made it hard to take anything seriously. The supernatural element involving Banri’s “other self” watching him felt unnecessary and poorly handled. A symbolic idea can work once, but turning it into an active, jealous, interfering presence just…

To be fair this is being written based on memory from when this anime was first released, I did not rewatch for this review and it may go on a bit of a tangent, and mid story spoilers. The main character Banri has an accident that gives him amnesia. Forgets all friends and family. Instead of trying to learn these people in his life he runs away to college. There he meet a trust fund girl with a poor attitude, Kagan. I have never despised a character more in my life. There are no redeeming qualities to her, she is selfish, demanding, narcissistic, petty, insecure, soiled, unhinged wretch of a woman. They try to make drama when Banri's old friend he doesn't remember and later revealed original love shows up at the college, but they drag their feet on any development and focus on the boo hoo…

This show certainly did... a lot. Kouko and her constantly changing outfits was a fresh of breath air. Characters: 8/10 Story: 8/10 Art: 8/10 Animation: 8/10 Character development: 10/10 Realistic human emotions: 10/10 Realistic problems: 9/10 This show hits you hard right away with a feeling of unease. Then they swirl up and down constantly with a soundtrack to help. It definitely didn't start strong but honestly Kouko is the type of female protagonist I personally dig. I know for a fact this show isn’t going to be for everyone. I've seen some recent reviews on it be low for it's quality but honestly for 2013 I think it will stand against time. Simply put, if your not digging the hint of agonizing mystery or Kouko herself by episode 7 then its not going to be for you. But it holds i…

Rom-Com That Sneaks Up On You Like a Masterpiece Where do I even start? At first glance, Golden Time looks like your standard 6/10 rom-com. Cute girls, goofy moments, and all that stuff. But the longer it goes, the more you realize… this is NOT your average rom-com. Storytelling is amazing in its own way. Characters and they mental struggles are realistic. Their personalities evolve, they make mistakes, they grow. Some moments are more dramatic or romantic than real life… but that just makes it taste even better. I almost dropped it in episode 2. I thought, I’ll watch something better. But the anime’s popularity, Around #150, made me rethinnk and stay. And thank the anime gods, I didn’t regret it for a second. Only side note I have is that I wish this anime had a longer storyline and a…

Golden Time appears at first like an ordinary college romance, bur the story slowly reveals something far less simple. Rather than lighthearted campus love stories, the narrative centers on confusion, memory, and the unsettling feeling of living a life that once belonged to someone else. Unlike many romantic stories set in high school environments, the narrative places its characters within the uncertain transition between adolescence and adulthood, where personal freedom expands but emotional stability becomes far less certain. The story follows Banri Tada, a first-year university student who arrives in Tokyo carrying a complicated history. Shortly before graduating from high school, Banri suffers a severe accident that results in complete memory loss. Everything connected to earlier life…

I probably thought this would be a mid category anime, but actually it wasn't. First 10-14 episodes were fine. I was actually enjoying watching those. But i had to hold my breath inside for the last few episodes. I almost felt like suffocating inside. Just to keep this review spoiler free, I wont be spoiling anything. Many might feel that this anime series is boring, but trust me dude, its not. Its one of those animes where you might get bored watching the first few episodes, but bro, things get so much interesting in the last half of the series. I hope anyone who comes upon my comment watches Golden Time!

I rarely review anything but I recently re-watched this show because I had nostalgia for it and because I remember it being good back when I first watched it years ago. After doing so, I’ve come to the conclusion that this is one of those shows that I’ll say is good no matter what because the things it does well far outshine its obvious problems in my opinion. I enjoy how the backdrop to everything in this show is on a college campus instead of a high school. It’s a nice departure from the common theme of characters being high school sweethearts. Granted, it does reference the main character’s high school life and past background a fair bit, so I’d say that it certainly falls back on that more than some people may like it to. Regardless, the show touches on a number of different subjects…

One of the best romance anime I’ve ever seen. Even though it's from 2013, I feel like not many newer titles have managed to reach the same level of immersion. The story is clear and engaging—while there were a few parts in the relationships that I didn’t completely understand, everything wraps up in a satisfying way. With 24 episodes, Golden Time takes its time to build a strong and emotional narrative. Honestly, I was surprised by how little fan service and filler it had compared to many modern romance anime. And yet, it still hits hard. Most romance anime today struggle to maintain a solid story past the first few episodes, but this one delivers consistent development—both in the story and the emotional growth of the characters. Despite being over 10 years old, the art style still hold…

"Golden Time" is one of those titles I have never heard off, but I ended up watching it because a good friend asked me to. The first episode is a bit strange and all over the place but managed to intrigue me enough to buckle up for the ride and watch. I can't put my finger on it but this anime is an oddity. Golden Time had all the ingredients to be something special: a mature setting, characters grappling with identity, love, and memory loss… but somewhere along the way, it got lost in its own chaos. The story feels disjointed, with relationship development constantly undone by unnecessary drama, irrational character choices, and one of the weirdest additions I’ve seen in a romance anime...Ghost Banri, who spends most of the time whining in the background like a haunted sock puppet. Ban…
