I don't know why I haven't made a review yet, but this anime after all this time might just be a masterpiece. A hidden gem. An artwork to be studied for it's creative inner philosophies.
But, I know most don't see the same way. Most might say this anime is shallow, convoluted, and just plain ol' dumb. I get it. Personally, I've seen this anime a couple of times, and frankly, some places did a better job at the poetic translations than others. It's bizarre. Normally, translations just focus on dialogue, but with TRUE TEARS, the literal dialogue is poetry at times. And I can see how some viewers don't receive the full picture when the characters talk about tears or chickens, especially on dub. Most people's first watch is just observing average kids in a boring school life. Not the message…

True Tears has something that so many other romantic anime lack - that poetic spark that transcends cultures and languages. Nothing is lost in translation here, the emotions are beautifully wrapped into words and scenery. It really had the potential to be something extraordinary but unfortunately there were a lot of missed opportunities where the script could've went in a bit of a different direction to achieve a much bigger emotional impact. The two female leads have similar screen time but one of them is written so much better, with so much more emotion, it's almost palpable. It's this character that makes the anime feel like something extraordinary, something that touches upon those deeply buried emotions that are reachable only by the very best of stories. In contrast, the other female…

This was such a frustrating watch for me. I could barely get through it. I'm writing this just to warn others not to waste their time.
I'm not going to hash through the story or character details here, since plenty of others have already done that. Instead, I'll just give my overall impressions of True Tears.
Romance is my favorite anime genre, and I've watched dozens of them. I cry incredibly easily, both at happy events and sad ones. I did not cry once during the 13 episodes of this series. This is because I didn't care a bit about any of the characters. They were all either wooden or irrational. So many times I found myself scratching my head at a character doing something that made no sense. For example, the MC sets up the girl he loves with another guy, and in exchange agrees to da…

this anime was seriously something. i went into true tears knowing nothing and expecting nothing. what i got was a surprisingly enjoyable experience, one that kept me hooked, invested and through a trip of various conflicting emotions.
i wont say much because this anime is great to go into knowing as close to nothing as possible. however, if you love drama, romance, comedy, a complex love situation with a huge touch of realism to it, you'll dig this
noe isurugi best girl. all i gotta say.
animation and art are great for their time. aged well? sorta. the cgi is horrific and distracting but it doesnt take away from the anime really.
can i just say that THIS ANIME HAS A GOD TIER SOUNDTRACK!!! like seriously why does noebody talk about it?!? it's SO DAMN BEAUTIFUL AND AMAZING!!!!

True Pain. That's what I felt watching this anime, it's beautiful and sad. It has a slow start but don't let that fool you, story just opens up after like 3rd or 4th episode. This anime captures all of the feelings that characters have inside of them, some of them being hidden deep inside of them that they suppressed. The relationships between the characters are beautifully shown. What are their connecting points, as well as the reasons why they get in conflict. It doesn't always end happily, and that's why this anime is so close to real life, and that's why their characters seem like real people.
Ask yourself a question when you finish watching - WHO IS TRULLY THE MAIN CHARACTER? I know my answer, but will you?
With all my heart I recommend this anime, it will absolutely blow your expec…

Well now lets get this roller coaster of a storyline going now shall we.
I gave this show an over all score of 6 due to the very last episode. This review will have some spoilers for those who haven't seen it. If you don't want spoilers then continue on To another review.
Storyline was ok. You got 5 storylines wrapped into one and they all connect together. We got our main male char shinichiro who loves the main female char Hiromi who just happens to live in the same house hold due to issues that caused her to live there. The mother tells a lie to keep them apart saying that they are siblings cause shinis father supposidily had an affair which later was a big fat lie about them being siblings. The other main female leads are noe and akio. Aiko is the childhood friend of Shini who she al…

I can't remember the exact reason, but I'm pretty sure I was watching/listening to the Trash Taste Podcast when one of the members were talking about True Tears. I added it to my list right away and decided to watch it, not remembering if they gave this anime good or bad reviews.
Enough of why I watched this and let's get into the anime basics!
Story; You follow the main character, Shinichirou Nakagami, if his slightly messed up everyday life. He's living with his childhood(and also current) crush Hiromi, he gets tangled up with the mysterious girl Noe and his childhood friend Aiko who owns a pancake shop. Follow him make mistakes, create awkward situations and learn what tears mean. To be completely honest, this is the type of story I like every now and then. The plot it simple; boy like…

Finally done watching TRUE TEARS and I could say that this one is a masterpiece when it comes to drama, romance and 1st love encounters. One of few anime that I've seen where I felt a bit empty and fulfilled at the same time....seriously DAFUQ man. hahaha!. The show really tells you that there is no right or wrong decisions when it comes to love, Either you will sacrifice what's important to you for the betterment or be greedy and do everything no matter what the consequences are. With just 13 episodes you will be drawn by not just the MC's but also the supporting ones. The pacing of the story is just perfect till the end(I wont say more otherwise it will ruin your viewing). The OST is so relaxing but will make you feel emotional. Overall I LOVE IT!!!! and satisfied on who our Male MC choo…

Robert's Too Late Reviews sliding in for another installment! Believe it or not, but we're actually running off the subbed version this time! I know, I was as surprised as you are! Anyway, if you've seen much of my reviews you probably know that romance is totally my jam, and True Tears doesn't disappoint! Barring a few cliches, we have an overall kickass ride. Let's see if our wings will get us off the ground.
Story: 8
The story is your somewhat traditional romance, complete with some hefty twists and turns, some are pretty easy to read, but others are a bit more surprising when they come around. Relationships are, of course, the meat of the entire series, and they are pleasingly complicated. Now I will say there's a bit of a cliche in the overall setting whereas we do have a main chara…

I dont Like reading Long reviews so I will keep this one short without any spoilers
SHORT: Good u should watch if u like love triangles and high school romance story with one male and many females.
LONG:
STORY 7[DECENT}
the initial premise of the story is unique and almost breaks away from the traditional cliches. The story towards the middle of the anime gets a little confusing but the end and beginning are clear and easy to follow. The biggest downfall of the story is that it starts interesting plots points but never does anything with them it leaves too many things unanswered. Ill give credit where credit is due the ending of the anime is satisfying and well deserving.
ART 6 [AVERAGE}
Art style not very unique or exceptionally well drawn at all times not a bad thing. But at times t…

"Whenever I see you, my heart trembles."
I currently feel a strange, permeating satisfaction.
True Tears is an anime by P.A. Works, the studio which will afterwards produce the great Angel Beats! and Nagi no Asu kara among others. Its story revolves around high school student Nakagami Shinichirou and his relationships with three girls: Hiromi, who happens to live in his house; Aiko, his childhood friend; and Noe, a strange girl who takes an interest in him after they meet near the chicken’s cage. Noe tells Shinichirou that she is now unable to shed tears and asks for his help: as you might have guessed, the show’s title refers to Noe’s problem.
The art is somewhat old-fashioned but beautiful nonetheless and some scenes are breathtaking, like the festival. I must say that I’m not a fan o…

This anime is amazing art – an in depth examination and exploration of love and all the elements that it entails, set against a backdrop of emotion and tears. We are treated to a study of parental love, the love shared between friends, sibling love and romantic love. The story is skillfully woven around this simple premise and elevated with deep characterisation and believable backstory which affects the reactions, motivations and emotions of characters in the present.
True tears has left an indelible mark on my soul. It is one of only a handful of anime’s which have drawn me in to such a degree. The emotional response the story was able to elicit, was deep and long lasting, like that first love you never forget. I was genuinely moved by the story, moved by the plight of the three main c…

Welcome to True Tears [of frustration]. I might add some spoilers along the way in my little rant, so, if by any chance you're reading this thing, beware.
When I first started this show, I had no expectations. I mean, this romance/drama packed slice of life setting seemed pretty common. Then it introduced the whole Japanese animated telenovela plot, with Shinchiro the main character and Hiromi the adopted sister living under the same roof and having obvious feelings for each other, but being pretty unable to act upon them with the whole forbidden romance thing; so to add some more spice, there's Aiko, who has feelings for Shinchiro, but is unhappily in a relationship with Miyokichi, aka the mc's bff. I did hear this isn't really your regular adaptation of the visual novel, and pretty much…

True Tears is a better version of the "fuck this whore" mentality you get from watching the School Days TV series. Much like other drama fueled, feels-bad romance shows like Rumbling Hearts, True Tears has a right to sit among its twisted sisters on a throne of what-the-fuckery.
• The beginning of True Tears reminded me of Yoshiyuki Tomino, with how erratic the characters behaved, but it’s fun. One of the two main girls, Noe Isurugi, might as well be related to Kamille Bidan with how neurotic she is. The other option is the main guy's beautiful adopted... sisterーbecause Japan.
• The male protagonist is annoying with how undesirably, indecisive he is and even gets blackmailed into dating someone because of that person’s incestous older brother. No, I'm not making this up. Like many male…

Okay, I know not many people will see my review, but as a loyal anime lover and also an animator, I have to warn everyone who is going to watch this anime . DON'T (F word) WATCH IT. It is completely a piece of shit and it's only going to waste your precious time.
To be honest with you, I didn't even know about this anime. Until my friends told me: "Hey, have you heard of True Tears? It is the tenth anniversary of its airing. It is an amazing romance anime with heart touching story and lively characters." I was interested, then I clicked the first episode and finished the whole season in 2 days. After I finished it I was like: "Yeah, what a 'an amazing romance anime with heart touching story and lively characters.'." I had such a high expectation of clicking that link of first episode; and…

My review of True Tears isn't free of SPOILERS, but I try to take a novel point of view in this controversial visual game based anime. I see it as a percursor of almost one decade for 2017 spring's celebrated Tsuki ga Kirei series (a.k.a. As the Moon so Beautiful). I won't say TgK is an adaptation, but the creators obviously took a hard look at True Tears and borrowed what's good from the story:
- The male protagonist is a literary author in both series
- The MC's love interest is a sports girl in both cases
- Both male MCs frequent a folk dance circle and participate in the historic festival, where the love triangles culminate
- Girl MCs re-locating serve as the event which catalyzes the relationship
- The female love rival has a major role in eventually cementing the MC couple toget…

True Tears is a realistic and heartbreaking anime with a slightly forced love triangle (square?) and a sprinkling of annoying characters.
To begin, the plot was quite suspenseful and enticing and the characters were quite likable in the beginning, yet slowly started to go downhill as the plot progressed. The best thing in the entire anime that stood out for me was definitely the cinematography and art, which had a slight watercolor effect on the background and many careful details. For the soundtrack, it was honestly a bit forgettable. The OP and credits soundtracks were pleasant and the songs that were added to set the mood were okay, but didn't really have a lasting effect. Now onto the characters. BEWARE SPOILERS!!!!!!
The protagonist, Shinichiro. I personally found him likable at f…

I'm happy I've started to get into these 'realistic romance' type anime these days cause I'm amazed on how well I enjoyed the anime! Spoilers ahead?
Story 9/10: What I thought was going to be your typical school romance story turned into a really enjoyable story line with developing characters and a twist to the whole scene as a whole! Even though in almost every episode I'd find myself scratching my head when they'd talk about flying, cockroach thing or some other thing that I generally had no idea about.. It was still a good watch! The story line is your typical romance story with a twist.. What I thought was going to be a childhood friend turned lover or a new girl at school turned lover aswell made for a thrilling watch to watch how they all needed each other and how each others feeli…

THE FOLLOWING REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS
Before embarking on this journey, I wish to clarify one thing: I utterly despise this series. Very few pieces of art have caused me greater misery and anger than True Tears. I do not consider myself qualified to give professional critique on an artwork like this (or any anime, for that matter), hence the ratings I give to various animes and mangas are based upon my personal enjoyment and emotions. As a result of this, I was able to give this series a 10 despite my hatred and annoyance.
STORY: The setting of True Tears is a pretty generic High School. The story revolves around an 'average' boy Shinichirou who is in love with his classmate and childhood friend Hiromi, who just so happens to live with him after losing her parents. The other main charac…

Alright this is for all my MAL viewers who see the reviews of this show and think "Wow, this anime is rated pretty high. I'll check it out." Please don't. Just save yourself from a joke of an anime. This is the single trashiest anime I have ever watched and with good reason. What does this anime do well? The story? Absolute crap. The art? The 3D animation is funky and the art is whatever. The characters? Hell no. The only thing I somewhat enjoyed from this anime was the OP and eventual OSTs that popped up here and there throughout the series. I HATED THIS SERIES and you will too.
Ok let me be clear. The direction that the show wanted to follow regarding a girl and her trying to find her tears back was actually not bad. It makes up for somewhat a solid foundation for a romance story but w…
