H2O is basically about a blind guy who goes to a village and gets himself involved with huge drama which evolves into shocking twists, tragic backstories and nonsensical plot points that keeps you watching to see how it all ends. The characters were all in all pretty terrible since they were either unlikeable, very one-note or just had random switches in their personality for some reason. One notable case was in the first few episodes when one of the characters kept acting like an npc and any dialogue thrown at her was like speaking to a brick wall. Most fan-service scenes were also quite ridiculous. Although I understand that it was a product of its time, those scenes does make one wonder if the anime is trying to be serious or not. What this anime also likes to do is not provide contex…

I enjoyed watching the anime and it was a real pleasure to watch, however, the last episode and the ending made me really sad and angry. i really wanted them to have a good life, it had so much build-up, then for it to be completely ruined by the end. Never have i been so disappointed by an ending, i completely didn't expect and it im mad about this more than i was with school days. Some much build-up, yet it was all for nothing, a very cruel and sick story. Hayami deserved better, this frustration is going to take a while to go. i won't say anything on the matter but completely avoid this anime. Never have i been so disappointed and shocked due to bad writing of this level It was fun at first but the last few upisodes were cringe and disapointing, completely made all the earlier episodes…

I was drawn to this story because I had a lot of sympathy for the female leads, The male protagonist was ok at first, he was brave and strong and kind, but when they try to reveal his deeper personality I ended up hating him instead of feeling sympathy for him. I think they could have made him dark and interesting but instead, he just came off whiny and obnoxious. The end felt more cheap than tragic. the show also uses a lot of plot devices that were totally unnecessary. It would have been better with a much more subtle hand on the supernatural elements, and a stronger male lead that didn't make you cringe every time he got sad, or spoke.

(This review is based on my personal enjoyment of the anime, not my opinion on how well it is made.) H2O Footprints in the Sand is certainly a unique anime to say the least. I have never watched an anime that has left me angry, overjoyed, stressed, discontent, and confused all at the same time until now. The reason for this amalgamation of conflicting emotions is the absolute enigma of a story and the conflicting love hate relationship I have with the characters. An Absolute Enigma: The story of this show is so "off the walls", I probably wouldn't be able to spoil the story even if i wanted too. I swear there were several points in the anime where I felt like I had either missed something important, or I was straight up hallucinating. There are multiple times in the story where supernat…

This the anime that you get to the second from last episode and expect no happiness in the end or “how are they going to recover the story to reach a happy ending now?” I could tell this was a farbit more Psychological than Ilike but over time, you start to see where we are going with the plot. Episode 8 was totally unnecessary as others have mentioned. The beginning starts with the “Footsteps in the sand” poem but leaves out the ending. As the story moves forward and characters evolve you see why. You will either love it or hate it. The end was mostly unexpected but the plot as a whole is very similar to the story of Jesus Christ. The Footsteps poem eluded to this as well. My only question at the end was why the last person showed up at the windmill. Was it real or an illusion? An…

IT'S NOT ABOUT SWIMMING! despite what one would glean from the title and picture. What it is about is a tale of love, familial obligation and being bound by the past. The characters are interesting and diverse and the story is intriguing. It' hard to praise this anime without giving too much away, but the animation is smooth and fluid, but that's to be expected from an anime not dependent on action scenes. But it's a touching love story that's both tragic and seems genuine. If this is your sort of genre (it's not mine though I finished it) I recommend watching it. HOWEVER, there are a few things that robbed it of it's five. First the fan service on characters so young, will repulse some instantly, though it's few and far between, nevertheless it's there. There's also a cultural gap here wh…

Blind boy Hirose moves in with his wacky uncle way out in the sticks and attends a school full of beautiful loli girls who all give him the suffix "sama" and are all ridiculously fond of him for no reason. There is an air of mystery in the village. The show does a decent job of giving some suspense and leaving you to wonder what the hell is wrong with this screwed up village. Also in this show, if you stick around long enough, there are some psychological elements such as Hirose's blindness. Ridiculous sexual moments that would probably never happen ensue between blind boy and all the girls while the plot creeps very slowly along. All the girls' high-pitched voices could crack glass. Same goes for the spirit-girl Otoha-san, who appears just long enough to give Otoha-Hirose shippers fan s…

“Candy carries the taste of happiness. If you suck on it, a flower will bloom in your mouth.” - Kagura Hinata Well, let’s just say for me that watching H2O: Footprints in the Sand wasn’t equivalent to the supposed taste of happiness that H2O describes candy as having, rather it was like the equivalent of sucking on a lemon in hopes of trying to get some sweetness out of it. Footprints in the Sand introduces us to a blind protagonist, Takuma Hirose, who got enrolled into a new high school in a rural area after certain circumstances. Being blind, Hirose asks what he assumes to be a fellow high school student for directions, who coldly responds so. Once there, Hirose finds himself to be the talk of all the girls in his class, specifically from one who introduces herself as Kagura Hinata, an…

First of all, I want to say this. If you are expecting a nice love story, you'd be better not watching this series. The title itself, "Footprints in the Sand", is mostly pretty words and has very little to do with the series in the end. H2O is classified as a romance/school/harem series, but it's more of a drama. Also, in all these categories it falls close to average. This series has a very negative feel from start to end, though there are also some comedy aspects here and there. The ending didn't leave me satisfied, as the direction they were going changed 3-4 times in the last two episodes. Story - The idea is fine, but the execution is poor. In many key events the build up is either somewhat unnatural, there is none, or it is too obvious. This makes the important events lack the punc…

Hirose Takuma lost his mother when he was young and has since become blind from the trauma. He goes to live with his uncle in the rural countryside to try to recover from his "illness". There, he luckily meets a magical fairy named "Otoha" and two girls Hinata and Hayami, who are caught between a nonsensical family war over village control. This anime seems to be an average harem anime at first. However, a second look reveals a flawed attempt at introducing many innovative, but poorly done, aspects to the genre. Though sometimes the characters are entertaining and the story decent, the overall plot line and confusing ending all but destroy what this anime could have been. This show fell way short of what I was expecting. Animation: Green. I know that the setting is a rural village but th…

The Ending... it will fuck with your mind a little. If you watch after credits, and ask the question about a certain female character. The answer is YES, yes she is. Anyways on with my review Story: It's indeed very random, and I have nothing to compare it to since the manga wasn't translated and I have to do the visual novel. This anime had all sorts of potential with it's story. Just not played out in the right way I suppose.. I give it a 6/10. Art: Pretty well drawn for an 08 anime. But not the greatest. 8/10 Sound: I don't pay attention to OPs because I skipped them 80% of the time 6/10. Characters: Wish I could give it a solid 7.5/10 all very generic characters. But most of them did develop over time which was a shocker for me honestly. Enjoyment: This anime is a very fun watch,…

2nd time to write a review. This one really grow in me because particularly I don't like tragedy or too much drama but this one changed my mind during the summer of 2010. "The word "I like you" carry too little weight, The word "I love you" are too ambigous, Because I don't know the most correct to write, Or whether I could bring my feelings to light, So I write "Thank you for the world", Hirose" Story: 7/10 Its a pretty common plot used in every visual novel games if you think about it so right from the story line you could tell that its from a visual novel. It starts off with a light-heart comedy and scenes then it gets serious and dark. i'm practically used to this but I am not immune to its effects because it still wreck my heart. Also speaking of wreck, get ready for the final 2 epi…

H2O: Footprints in sand in my mind should be re-titled to H2O won't even wash this anime's ending out of your mind. Even to this day this is one of the few animes that can stir up extreme anger in me by just thinking about the ending. To think an episode and a half (last half of episode 11 and all of 12) could just completely kill a story so badly. I have to admit found myself somewhat engrossed in episodes 1-the first half of 11. The whole thing about having the main character move away from his home to go live with his uncle to help see if it could cure his blindness was interesting, but then again they threw that out the window with him suddenly getting his vision back. He then starts hanging out with some other people (two obviously the main heroines and some other people. I think on…

H2O: Footprints in the Sand; another melodrama based on a visual novel. Not a good one either. Well, it has some drama, some romance, some comedy, even a bit of psychological but none of it stands out. This anime is still rather generic and there are about a dozen better titles out there that do the exact same things. The only thing worth mentioning is that it's at least not that predictable. I guess. Whatever, let's get on with the review. Story (25%) - 3/10 Surprise, another school setting. The most annoying part of the first half is the fact that the supernatural element is hardly explored and it makes absolutely no sense. At the start, the girl who cures him is a spirit. Then, she's actually a ghost. But no, there's something else going on; she's actually a combination of sorts later…

\*** Read if you watched Clannad***/ Before I start watching H2O: Footprints in the Sand I came here, to myanimelist, and read a few reviews about this anime and many of those reviews said this anime has a similiar story to Clannad/Clannad After Story, so as a huge fan of Clannad, I decided to start watching this anime and after I was done I had to think a lot before writing my review, since I really didn't know what to feel after watching it... It's true what they said about it being similiar to Clannad but It's not even close to Clannad's level, at the begining the anime was going well, the characters relationship was evolving well but in the end it didn't have the same effect as Clannad. why? Well the reason is simple, since this anime is only has 12 episodes we just couldn't build t…

I just had to write a review for this shitty anime with characters that do more despicable things than Gendo Ikari from NGE. Apparently a girl's parents were greedy doctors and used to milk the villagers dry for money and were thrown out of the village but the girl herself wasn't thrown out. i don't know why parents would abandon their child or why the girl still lives in that shitty village at all. i still don't get how her family is involved the main loser's mother's suicide when it appears in the last episode as though she died saving his life. while this girl is constantly being beaten, something that would cause anyone, including the viewers, to shudder, the hero is busy flirting with his harem of girls and the adults in the village seem to egg on their children to torment this girl.…

There's just something about this series that you can't help but enjoy, but then again there will be times when you might consider not moving onto the next episode. Instead of systematically going through categories on what I thought about this series, I'm just going to point out a few (hopefully critical) observations about its presentation. If you are someone who watches series on an account of its sound and art, then this review might not be for you, as I have no special comments for it. Well then, let me jump right into what I want to say. When you sit down to watch H2O: Footprints in the Sand, you might have a few ideas on what it is about. Whether you were offhandedly recommended it by a friend, or read a synopsis of the story online and thought it was interesting, this show will c…

This anime is different from the ones I've seen before so I was worried about whether I'd like it or not, and I did. The story is amazing, pretty sad and somewhat confusing if you're slow like me lol. Every character has their own story that conncects to everyone elses. The art was pretty good, nothing extrodinary. I loved the opening, the ending was okay. They did a good job with the voice actors, really suited the characters. The characters were as great as the story, some of them I hated because they were so mean. I overall, enjoyed it a lot. It was nice to watch something a little different. However, it may not be different for you, just for me, I don't usually watch these kind of animes.

Okay, of all the spineless main characters, this one really irked my girk more than most. Every single thing this guy does is the most cowardly thing ever. It start's out alright. For the first while he protects the girl in need. After the first 2 episodes though, shit goes downhill. He completely ignores the girl who really needs a friend, while hanging out with the blonde bimbo who is OBVIOUSLY trying to get him to stop talking to the girl in need. He can't say no to anyone and is totally without any balls at all. Everything about this guy makes me hate him. The only thing he did to be nice to the girl was, after the blonde bitch (Hinata) was trying to get him to stop talking to the girl in need (Hayami), was to weakly and apathetically call out the girls name whilst letting the blonde g…
