Drifting Home ended up being another pleasant surprise on my favorites list, hooking me in the first few minutes with a story from the children's perspective and that unique vibe of mystery and youth drama.
Visually, the movie is a masterpiece. The animation and designs are incredibly beautiful, but what really blew me away was the attention to the tiny details. Every little bit of movement animation, like a hand moving, the way they sit, or the characters shifting through the scenery, is packed with care. You can really feel that the animation team put true love into every single scene. Plus, these spontaneous moments and the kids' actions bring a lot of realism to the movie, like that hilarious scene where the kid sings a song about McDonald's, which gave me a good laugh.
I have a huge s…

This anime movie is truly a masterpiece. Its breathtaking visuals and captivating storytelling create a stunning experience reminiscent of Studio Ghibli films.
The story is unique; the first half focuses on mystery and character development, while the second half showcases their journey toward self-improvement. The characters serve as metaphors for our fears of goodbyes and letting go of people and their memories.
The central theme revolves around the challenges of letting go and saying goodbye.
Each character is richly developed, with compelling motives and beautifully portrayed emotions.
I really enjoyed this movie, and it is a must-watch that you won't regret investing your time in!

I don't know why the score of this movie is so low, but it's really Ghibli from another studio! I mean, it feels like a ghibli movie. When you are exhausted or sad, this movie will make you better. This is so much aesthetic and refreshing.
Actually, I like it's vibe. The storytelling and the bonds between characters will make you cry.
The art style and animation has gone crazy. The story is not that unique, but you can watch this with your family, refresh with the movie.
After all, I wanna say one thing: Watch this, the movie will worth your time.

i saw the mal score of this and thought it wouldnt be that good but omg i was so close to crying
as someone who's big on world building it wasnt the best at it although, the conflict and reconcile between the characters was absolutely amazing unfortunately i feel like it mainly revolved round natsume and the mc but still their unique relationship was so intriguing i really wanted to see how it would end up and the way the art conveyed the emotions so well that i could feel it in the moment!!!!! and the suspense really got to me i was so scared to even finish it (semi-spoiler..................theres a good ending ^^)
the music really adds the cherry on top (zutomayo so goated🥹) unfortunately its not enough to be completely life changing and i dont think i took anything away from this oth…

I like how it handles the problem of the two children, each from their own point of view, although there are moments where it seems to go too slowly or too quickly, in the end it doesn't become such a big problem.
The animation is incredible and fluid, i like how colorful it looks and how they manage to create tension in the more serious scenes, i love the character of Natsume, the way she is constructed made me identify with her and empathize more with her, her problems, and the problems of others, how they are solved and how they manage to reconcile with each other is beautiful.
Another strong point is the soundtrack,it feels so alive and mostly relaxing, fits very well with the youthful and childlike atmosphere of the film, It makes you feel a bit nostalgic, even though i'm still a teenag…

"Grandpa. Our house was incredible."
Oh, my shayla! Watching this movie feels like remembering a dream that you don't want to wake up from. This is so good that it will make you cry. 3 am is the best time to watch it, lol. The story about letting go and remembering those we’ve lost felt so real. Like Natsume, you sometimes hold on to memories because you’re afraid of forgetting.
And this damn story will have you panicking and crying out, worrying about them. THIS IS CRAZY! Why do these children keep getting hurt?! But you will love them soOOO much that you want to give them the warmest hug ever.
NETFLIX WAS RIGHT WITH THE CATEGORY BITTERSWEET IN IT.

I would not recommend spending two hours of your life watching this.
First, the visuals are amazing and live up to the standard of a large-budget Netflix film. The voice acting and background details are also pretty great, it's a great aesthetic production. But not even that could distract from the extremely mediocre, poorly-constructed plot and utterly flat characters.
The story itself is very much "tell, not show". The reason for the main protagonists clashing and Natsume's personality is explained in bits, often having huge chunks of context missing. For at least a third of the film, you will have more questions than answers. Some will be answered in a somewhat-satisfying manner, others are just not addressed.
A lot of the plot requires a lot of convincing. When a strange, ghost-l…

I hate this movie it was a waste of time and the pacing is fucking awful. WHY IS IT TWO HOURS LONG!!!!! its so repetitive and shit just happens for no reason. seriously just skip this movie.
I cabt believe that they squandered the budget and animation on this horrible story.. It has little nuggets of what could be a cool story but irs so boring. Its like nothing happens for an hour and then suddenly shit woht stop happening.
Theres a character that just shows up out of nowhere with no introduction. YOU HAD 2 HOURS OF MOVIE AND YOU SKIPPED THAT BUT NOT 1/45 TIMES THE CHARACTERS ARE JUST BICKERING

From my perspective, the story is unique. I watched it with my siblings. I like to enjoy adventure films where a child does something interesting. This anime's storyline is good and the twist is normal, but it takes time to understand the main story.
Though it is a fictional anime story, the characters are not well expressed in an emotional way. However, some points are really good like how children are straightforward and can't make good decisions. These things are nicely shown in the anime. I think it will be good for children. The attachment to the place in our memories is shown perfectly. I'm sure they will enjoy this anime.
Thank you for reading my review 🩵. Now, watch it and enjoy it.

I don't know what it is with anime's these days having such an intriguing plot and meaningful theme but then just completely butchering the specifics. On the surface, Drifting Home is a story of childhood friendships and maturing as you learn to move on. The kids in the film find themselves at an old apartment complex that is set to be torn down - only for it, and them, to be transported into the middle of the ocean.
You'd think that the characters with such a close proximity and nowhere to go, there'd be plenty of opportunity to explore the bonds between the children. And you'd be mistaken. Instead, it spends the majority of it's runtime inching towards any sort of character arc. The supernatural elements are explored instead, but in a rather incomplete manner that still leaves more que…

Such a studio colorido film. One of my top fav anime movies. I just started loving it by the bond they have amongst natsume, noppo, and kausuke portraying their emotions so Determinatively and their rescue actions, all those nostalgia of apartment bringing up their true unbounded love for trees. Even though it's a fiction of hoping that trees gives life. The truth had already been there in many reality. Apart from studio ghibli, I really love and appreciate colorido movies!!
I love these genre of films and this is truly unique in my perspective.
As it's a studio colorido movie , no doubt that you'll enjoy with the art form.
The characters might be of different set up but i love every at the end, no disappointments with their story plot.
Try this if you want a truly emotional and adve…

For me, this anime was a good 9/10. A truly interesting concept that piqued my interest in what would happen next. A big thank you to the designers for creating it. This is one of the animes that I wanted to watch right after seeing the trailer; it's been on my list for a long time, and I'm so glad I got to watch it and find it in the first place. Speaking about the characters, I quickly became attached to them and shed tears as the story progressed, and the animation was excellent. For those of you who are hiking to find anything to watch, this might be a decent anime to start with.

Dude, this was one of the best movies that I ever watched. I may sound childish but that was such a masterpiece. The story in my eyes is unique. The art style is perfect for this anime. The characters are so cute. it was a bit predictable but still mysterious at some points. I think a lot more people should watch this. It's such a comforting type of anime. I like how children's friendship is portrayed in this movie. Everything about this movie is so good. I can sit down and watch it for hours. It's just so beautiful and comforting type of anime. Yeah, at some point it gets sad but has a happy ending. Highly recommended.

I watched this not knowing the context of the film but after finding out I had to rewatch it, my eyes were opened to a form of character writing I was not aware of. The main 5 characters are well writen but the 6th charecter is the one that sold it for me he was well thought of.
This film is great to watch with someone or if your feeling a bit down great by yourself (not to discourage anyone in a good mood).
The animation on the film was incredible and I did not regret a single minute of it. A few scenes throughout are really captivating and draw you in more.
I would highly recommend this film to anyone looking for something different.

Drifting home is one of Netflix original movies which lacks a bit of story but overall, a fun experience for newcomers to anime. The art style was a bit plain but great. The environment was amazing. It looked like that we're living inside the world with only our eyes. The idea of the movie felt like a Disney movie but on a budget. The music was alright. The pacing was amazing! The movie length was great. The characters were well made as-well as the voice acting for the dub and sub cast. I have no compliments with both cast because they're both equally great. It was really sad at some parts but overall happy mood. I would recommend this for people who don't care about story and wanting a fun time to watch the movie. Watch this with family and friends and it will be a joyful watch. I wouldn'…

Ame wo Tsugeru Hyouryuu Danchi - A Captivating Tale of Survival and Human Connection
Rating: 8/10
Ame wo Tsugeru Hyouryuu Danchi, also known as "The Rain Tells You," is an anime film that delivers a gripping and emotionally resonant story of survival and human resilience. With its captivating narrative and powerful themes, this film offers a thought-provoking and immersive viewing experience.
The story centers around a group of individuals who find themselves stranded in a desolate apartment complex during a catastrophic rainstorm that never seems to cease. As they navigate the challenges of limited resources, deteriorating living conditions, and the constant threat of despair, they form unexpected bonds and discover the strength of the human spirit.
One of the film's strengths lies in…

This shit made me cry so hard! It's not what I expected this film to be, but it was so much more. Instead of just a feel good movie, it showed us a depth none of us predicted from this film. It shows how hard not letting go or moving on hits not only the grieving party, but everyone around them. This film went beyond and I will gladly cry again if it means getting to share this with those around me!
The art definitely fits with the fact that it was not adults, but children experiencing all that happens here. With this art style you're able to more happily enjoy the good moments it shows, along with the pain that a child feels through their soft innocence. The style isn't hard even though the plot is darker than expected. I believe that's because even through their fright, worry, and pain…

I honestly never really write reviews but it seems like the other people in the reviews have either watched a completely different show than me or are just pissy.
Natsume did indeed bring them all in danger but its not her fault, she didn't know either and she was definetly not selfish for wanting to stay together with Noppo. She had build a strong band with the boy and its obvious that she didn't wanna lose her friend. The scene with Kousuke's grandpa was also very understandable, she did not make Kousuke go after her while his grandpa was dying, she was 10-11 probably and it seems like people dont realise young kids can be bad with their emotions.
Reina was bratty and yes she called Natsume out on mistakes but that does not change the fact that she was by far the most insufferable char…

Beautiful visuals wasted on a dopey concept.
The trailer hooked me, with its lush animation and a somewhat intriguing idea about an apartment complex floating in the sea. Seemed like it would be a good time, given that I'm a bit of a fan of single location settings.
Well, after watching it, I was left cold. Let's briefly dismantle this thing, shall we? Honestly, there's nothing particularly special about this movie that warrants an unnecessarily bloated two-hour runtime. The supernatural elements are goofy, and awkwardly written. The main characters yell at each other for a good portion, constantly being absolute savages to one another. Seriously, these KIDS want to see each others brains and guts splattered all over the floor of that floating apartment. That Reina girl, what a charmless…

Stunning visual - which contributes to most of my rating for this. Another that contributes is the kids' ingenuity in surviving with limited resources.
Plot and concept isn't new, but they don't detract from the watching experience or the rating. What did, is how long this movie dragged on, just to prolong the melodrama. Noppo and Natsume should be the characters easiest to sympathize with (in my opinion), but the meandering drama and supposedly tear-jerking moments prevented me from truly feel for them. There are moments when Natsume just stood there, absorbed in a reminiscence, when they were pressed for time and could not afford to do that. The first half of the movie is entertaining and intriguing enough, but past the 1-hour mark, it's just mostly filler (and drama). And there are plo…
