Introduction

In class 3-3 of Yomiyama North Junior High, transfer student Kouichi Sakakibara makes his return after taking a sick leave for the first month of school. Among his new classmates, he is inexplicably drawn toward Mei Misaki—a reserved girl with an eyepatch whom he met in the hospital during his absence. But none of his classmates acknowledge her existence; they warn him not to acquaint himself with things that do not exist. Against their words of caution, Kouichi befriends Mei—soon learning of the sinister truth behind his friends' apprehension. The ominous rumors revolve around a former student of the class 3-3. However, no one will share the full details of the grim event with Kouichi. Engrossed in the curse that plagues his class, Kouichi sets out to discover its connection to his new friend. As a series of tragedies arise around them, it is now up to Kouichi, Mei, and their classmates to unravel the eerie mystery—but doing so will come at a hefty price. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

After watching this anime, the one thing I want to say is: There’s a difference between horror and disgust!!! I wouldn’t call this horror at all… it’s not even particularly tense. People are literally being torn apart for no reason, and somehow I didn’t feel scared during a single scene. On the other hand, works like Banana Fish, Boku dake ga Inai Machi, and Monster didn’t even need excessive violence or blood to create fear. I could literally hear my own heartbeat in my ears from the tension, and that is what I call horror. 😐 Anyway, I didn’t hate this anime, but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Absolute horror experience. Watched this at 1am with headset on and I’ve never understood horror anime until then. My cabinet opening on its own with a creaky sound almost gave me a shock. The voice actors especially Misaki’s was exceptional. That said, it would have been peak if the story was developed more and added lores with the characters. The premise was very interesting – it made me remember those high school horror stories I used to watch and read as kid. It was unfortunate that it fell off and became boring in the middle, and ended unsatisfactorily. There were so many characters it was a waste of potential. If done right, Misaki wouldn’t be the only one glazed in this anime. Still, this gets a recommendation to me because the horror elements were spot on.

I'm going to focus in judging this as a Horror show, because I'm a big fan of Horror and this anime is tag as such. This definitely hits the mark on that aspect, you have everything you need; a mystery, a curse, a bunch of people who all could be killed at any moment... There are some anime tropes that stop this show for being grater that It is, but It could have being worst. I also have mixed feelings on the opening song. It's a great song, but I feel that It doesn't fit right with the vibe of the anime. Over all It's a great horror experience that I recommend to any Horror fan. I think I have watched this anime like three times so far and I don't get tired of It.

This anime may seem boring at first, everything will look obvious. You'll feel that you already know who's the ghost. But I bet, you'll be wrong. And that's what 'Another' does. It will guide you to the wrong path, making sure what you're predicting is wrong. And that's the part I love about this anime. Because that 'wrong lead' will create a plot twist in the end. So I recommend every suspense lover this masterpiece. Don't underestimate it. While you watch it, keep one thing in mind: 'whatever you're predicting, is wrong'. And the last two episodes were insane. At last I'd say, the plot twist is absolutely 10/10. The soundtrack is 9/10. Story is unique, so I'll give it a 10/10. But I don't like the MC very much, so he's a 6/10.

Another deserves more credit to be honest, its alright,i mean it was a bit horror as the genre say but it didnt scare me like that, this anime reminds me of the movies of Final Destination where people die by accidents and stuff. The animation was great,i dont remember seeing any animation mistake or something like that and to be fair was alright animated by the studio. The Story,is nothing to say really,as a 12 episode anime it doesnt go in detail about the story or backstory or whatever, but even without this factors it didnt stop me to give this higher score at this anime So overall i gave 10/10 to this anime because was dark,it looked like that movie i mentioned earlier and i really liked it,for an anime with 12 episodes i cant have higher expectations from it to be fair,i still really…

I liked it and totally recommend it. It kept the mystery theme until the end it was very surprising actually. Please dont get fooled by the people saying it confusing or hard to understand and watch it. Also i liked how they tried to show characters' emotions plus how they showed Mei's relationship with her sibling on the OVA was very cute. Overall, some deaths and cuts about it was funny in my thought. What you can deeply get from this anime is.. Dont buy sharp pointed umbrellas and run on stairs with them ^^ !!Dont watch if you cant stand blood.!!

[EN/PT-BR] [EN] Another is a horror anime released in 2012 with an interesting premise, but I don't know if the work had the development it deserved. A cursed classroom where students die is fertile ground for mysteries, but the only mystery the anime contains is who is responsible for the curse that causes so many deaths. Perhaps this is the point where the anime works best, because until the final episode I didn't know who was causing so many fatalities, and it never crossed my mind that that individual was the "extra student". I have no complaints about the animation; it conveys the atmosphere of the scenes and the distress of the deaths well, which is something very present in the anime (didn't you notice the "gore" tag in the anime's description?). Despite having the "Horror" tag,…

I think its a overatted anime, cause many people say its the best in my opinion its not that really, but all i can say its good and above average anime and i like it, its worth to watch the anime almost perfect, but lost one thing that is hard to explain, what i can explain is the anime using the most common length that make the story What had been built from the first episode was in vain because at the end of the season the plot changed very quickly so that this anime could be finished in 12 episodes. My opinion is that this anime wastes the story that was built well at the beginning

Another is a really good anime to enter into gore and psychological horror shows with really good story, animation and with headphones the music in the background amplifies the quality of this anime more . Animation:- 10/10 (considering this anime aired in 2012) stunning animation with art style that fits perfectly with the anime's theme and really gives it unique look which makes you remember this anime just from any random scene that gives dark, horror Vibes. Story:-9.8/10,had good story no doubt, only ending is something I have high hope for it to be better considering how the show went from the start it's ending goes in drama style ending than a psychology gore horror show. That ending much like aot (was it bad no but we wanted something else ) Here's a short run down for this ani…

This is less of a horror genre and more like Final Destination. Another is a high-school mystery-thriller set in the fictional rural town of Yomiyama, Japan. After moving in with his aunt and grandparents, Tokyo-native Koichi Sakakibara finds himself intertwined with the odd happenings occuring at his new high school. A ghostly girl, a classroom with a horrific past, and a future as grim as the eye can see; who knows what awaits Koichi as he begins his first year at Yomiyama North? Despite its horror-like premise, this anime mostly borrows elements from movies like Final Destination and The Omen. The main leads are somewhat interesting but the writing and plot is questionable. I swear, the "accidents" in this show are just as unrealistic as the Final Destination movies. Oftentimes, someone…

A horror anime that will keep you tense from the very beginning and won't let you take your eyes off it. Honestly, I had a guess from the beginning about what the reason would be for the things that happen in the classroom and who is really behind it. Even though I guessed a certain character, I was surprised that I was right at all (it was more like HAH WHAT IF IT WAS THIS CHARACTER IT WOULD BE FUNNY, but that character really was) Anyway, I enjoyed the anime, I liked the main characters and I even watched the OVA, so to speak, and if you're looking for a horror anime that you can watch in a day to kill boredom, this is the right series for you❤

A very entertaining anime, that is well & quick paced due to its tight writing and 13 episodes length. The story has quite a few gory moments and exhibits a constant feeling of dread and mystery, but in a fun way. Despite its dark moments and seemingly hopeless situation, the show had all the elements for a cosy watch. I want to stress how good the pacing is, because the show mixes calm, eerie moments with short bursts of action and violence. The story is also a whodunnit mystery, that purposefully withholds information from you, but will answer all questions at the end. The resolution isn't mind blowing, but good enough and I would recommend "Another" to anyone who wants to watch a mystery/horror anime set in a rural town.

Easily misunderstood by the majority of people who watched it and thought it was merely a gore-filled spectacle with an uncompelling plot that failed to deliver much substance, but that’s truly not what Another is trying to present as a psychological horror anime series. If people have a good understanding of what Final Destination is about and how it portrays the fragility of life that the most terrifying aspect of existence isn’t ghosts or supernatural entities but rather ourselves and the world revolving around us each passing day, they would see the true essence behind Another. Telling the story of Yomiyama North Middle School and the mysterious curse born from making contact with something that should not exist. The anime exposes the inevitable consequences of disturbing the balance b…

Another, can be best described as an horror anime which tries to do so much, but the execution of the anime is sadly lacking which feels like it falls short. Another is an anime which uses a mix of horror and mystery to tell a story about a class which is being killed one by one, while a new student Koichi is introduced to this dark world and school, and meets a girl called misaki, who might be real or not. The opening, of the series is great. The first 3 episodes is brimming with atmosphere and while the characters are somewhat lacking in those 3 episodes, the mystery and beautiful score and nice animation makes up for it. In ways the first 3 episodes are the best..but slowly when the series goes on that mystery feels thrown out the window and the characters become more bland and uninte…

I didn’t expect to enjoy Another this much, but I was hooked from the first eerie episode. The anime perfectly blends mystery and horror, with an atmosphere that constantly keeps you on edge. It’s not just about gore or jump scares; it’s about the slow, creeping dread that builds with each episode, as the truth about Class 3-3 slowly unravels. What stood out to me the most was the show's ability to make you feel like you're part of the curse, every time the characters felt anxious or helpless, so did I. The deaths were shocking (and honestly, pretty creative), but it’s the tension and the unanswered questions that really make this anime special. The soundtrack, the gloomy art direction, and especially the use of silence all worked so well together. Mei Misaki is an iconic mysterious char…

Another is a really interesting anime. I probably would've liked it more if it was a fast-paced movie instead of a 12-episode series, because the pacing is very slow. Another is an anime that wears the horror and mystery tags proudly, but whether it lives up to either is another story. While it starts with a chilling atmosphere and a mysterious premise, the series slowly spirals into a muddled mix of repetitive shock value and lackluster storytelling. The narrative centers around an ominous curse and a class surrounded by inexplicable tragedies. It sounds intriguing, and at first, it is, but the intrigue quickly fades as the mystery stalls. Much of the show's runtime is spent circling the same vague questions without making real headway. Instead of unraveling the mystery piece by piece,…

Another is not a subtle anime, and it isn’t especially logical either. Its tone is suffocatingly grim, its color palette is even grimier: shadows creep across damp hallways, gray skies pour endlessly, and the surrounding landscape is composed of metal rust, rotting wood, and moldy cement. Every frame is drenched in a kind of slow-building morbidity, as though the show is not merely about death, but trapped inside it. This works… at first. Set in 1998 at the Yomiyama Middle School, Another begins with atmosphere and promise. The new transfer student, Koichi Sakakibara, arrives with a collapsed lung and a cloudy understanding of what his new classmates are so terrified to explain. There’s Mei Misaki, the girl with the eyepatch and the aura of death; a girl, we’re told, who doesn’t exist. An…

Meh, I can't really say that this anime convinced me that much. Another surely hit its genre by being a horror and suspenseful series, but it simply wasn't enough. I really liked the animation and the art; the characters are well-designed and appealing. The bloody scenes looked very realistic and brutal, so no minus here. But the story was concluded terribly. The slow pacing in the first eight episodes really made watching them feel like a chore. The last five episodes built up some really good tension, though, just for the ending to be really unbearable. I can't imagine that this was the best conclusion the anime could've ended with. All in all, I can't really say that the story had plot twists or reveals that left me astounded, going like, "What, really?!" e.g. the reveal of Misaki's…

Rating: 8.5/10 Story/Idea (9/10) The premise of Another is chilling—an isolated class where death follows those involved, and the mystery unravels in a slow, eerie manner. The plot keeps you hooked as you try to piece together the haunting mystery behind the curse. Characters (8/10) While the characters aren't the most deep, they’re well-written for the horror atmosphere. The protagonist, Kouichi, and the mysterious Mei have an intriguing dynamic that fuels the tension, even if the characters don't have massive development. Plot (8/10) The plot works well for the genre, with a strong focus on mystery and suspense. The twists and turns keep you on edge, though some plot points feel a bit rushed toward the end. Pacing (7/10) The pacing is mostly solid, with tension building gradually. Ho…
