The Lost Village

The Lost Village

Introduction

A bus full of eccentric individuals is headed toward the urban legend known as Nanaki Village, a place where one can supposedly start over and live a perfect life. While many have different ideas of why the village cannot be found on any map, or why even the police cannot pinpoint its location, they each look forward to their new lives and just what awaits them once they reach their destination. After a few mishaps, they successfully arrive at Nanaki Village only to find it completely abandoned. Judging from the state of disrepair, it has been vacant for at least a year. However, secrets are soon revealed as some of the group begin to go missing while exploring the village and amidst the confusion, they find bloody claw marks in a forest. As mistrust and in-fighting break out, will they ever be able to figure out the truth behind this lost village? [Written by MAL Rewrite]

I'm going to focus in judging this as a Horror show, because I'm a big fan of Horror and this anime is tag as such. Not a bad premise, and even tho some character personalities feel like anime cliche I sadly know people like that in real life. The show starts with a good atmosphere and mystery, slowly setting mistrust and danger of something lurking in the woods, but they took a decision that personally ruins the horror vibe for me; The monster felt more terrifying when we didn't know what It was, once you show It, It can loose It's horror factor, which is not always the case when done properly, but that's not all, they are ugly cgi monsters. It's so frustrating because I would be talking about a really good horror anime right here if It wasn't for that. The story in on Itself is fine, the…

A very disappointing anime, at a glance you see The Lost Village and think something perhaps mythical or supernatural or even perhaps there is a murderer on the loose or there is a traitor in the camp of people but No we don't get any of those things and instead get something so completely weird it ruins the entire plot. The first episode is good and draws you in but after that the plot falls short, i wasn't a huge fan of the voice acting in this and the MC was kind of lame. The animation is of standard but the entire anime itself is practically unwatchable. There isn't much character development and there is arguably way too many characters anyway along with a confusing ending, it'd be better to spend your time watching something else. Its hardly a horror and it wasn't even laughably bad…

No matter what the reviews are, this anime is worth watching, i binge-watched it today and wrote a review right away so people don't miss it. I won't say it's underrated but stories like this are rare. It has interesting concepts, and good comedy one-liners (I know it's horror but mostly at the start till the suspense). For my fellow anime lovers & otaku, definitely worth watching guys. This is decent(has/had great potential TBH) anime with a unique storyline and plot, a bit of fun, SOL. The ending was good, I like the natural/neutral endings instead of forced only happy or sad endings. Just check out the first episode you will get hooked from or 1st or 2nd episode onwards.

I initially decided to watch it after reading both positive, mixed and negative reviews making my mind to watch it and find out for myself if it's really as bad as the majority says it is and it being only 12 episodes made it quite easy. After watching several episodes, I can understand some of the complaints of the negative reviews that they expected more, because it can feel lacking at times. But in defense of the anime, I will say that those who were expecting more, most likely are used to everything they watch to be of epic proportions and their senses are so dulled from "epicness" that they can't appreciate smaller and humbler things. What comes to mind is Mushishi - largely regarded as a very good Iyashikei about feeling good, healing, etc. I liked Mushihi, but can I explain why it…

ill make it short since i hate all pretentious comments who thinks everyone should read the bible they write and im writing after years of watching it but not remembering everything the animation its nothing of another world and i usually dont care about the music the story is nearly decent but in some parts its pretty meh i remember when it was on air, it was painfull the amount of cliffhangers they never solved in the next chapter the final plotwist... they werent thaaat great but i liked them a lot in short is just watching how people who need therapy act, and how they solve it without therapy, but instead of it being by self healing and learning its with monsters so, i put an 8 cuz i liked it, for the regular people might feel like a 4~6/10 forgetable but barely entering on good or ba…

Think of a regret I had when I completed this work. I ALMOST give up halfway through. Every time I go to watch a work, I never expect anything. Especially because - "if you don't expect anything, you won't be disappointed". And that's when I wasn't disappointed with anything, I repeat, WITH NOTHING. Starting with young characters already gives me that "pathetic" look. There are hardly any works like this, which work well in the chosen theme. Horror. Horror? To watch? LOL The pathetic progression with pathetic characters, made me learn to cook. Ironic I would say. If you're going to watch this disgraceful anime, take a tranquilizer first, because you'll get irritated!

The first episode is great. It really does it job of luring you in and making you curious. Unfortunately the rest of the show, especially the later episodes, don’t pull their weight. It really starts to grind to a halt around episode 8. It sort of just loops round in circles with exploratory dialogue thrown in but unfortunately I didn’t feel like the explanation was actually helpful or really satisfying. There are so much more ways this could have ended and we got a very banal one. It’s still an interesting show up until the later episodes but I think the wheels came off the car when they were trying to stick the landing of the end. It’s just like jumbled nothingness. I also wish it was creepier, it seems really haunting at first but then it’s just like, once again, nothing. I think it nee…

I personally thought this anime was great and really don't understand why it is rated so poorly. Honestly after this show and being a bit bored by some very highly rated shows that are well known I began to question my belief in trusting whether MAL says a show is good or not. I understand art is personal taste and there may always be disagreement but in my opinion garbage can sometimes get celebrated and talked about while good shows like this get rated so lowly regardless of personal tastes and the uniqueness of the viewer. I was going through a rough time emotionally in real life and I still despite being distraught still thought to myself "hey you know good show".

SPOILERS: Story 2/10: 30 loser fucks take a bus trip to Nanaki Village - a village that every other person doesn't know the location of, and stupid fucks like most of our main characters (and the side bitches no one could give a shit less for) takes a venture out to find this village. Most - if not all - take the trip there for a "new life". A fucking joke at that too. Although... when they get there, the village seems to be abandoned like, "people were just living here yesterday" and they find strange bloodied claw marks on a tree. So here's the problem... the premise is interesting enough for you to put the anime on your 'plan to watch' list. And I haven't watched Another (yet) but this anime has the same director as Another people were saying. But until people actually watch the…

No spoiler, honest review, first time review This show went to 4 from immediate 10 to me. I’m glad I decided to watch this show from just the trailer. I did skim read some of the reviews, most of them gave a very low rating, while there were those who appreciated the show like I did. There were a few funny parts, but this was a good enough show to keep me hanging and anxious to see what the next episode’s like. If you like mental health issues coming to life through emotional/physical/mental (imagination or hallucination) manifestations, then you’ll breeze through the whole show. Before I knew it I was at episode 11 already. I really like the show and the portrayal of the whole plot. There were no plot holes, everything was glued together by the end. How things ended was satisfactory f…

I am a sucker for animes with a similar plot to the final destination with a lot of characters that are clearly disposable, entering in the first 3 episodes was exciting because it looked like ti was going that way but is completely the opposite. This anime should be call "Talking the Anime" it feel like they were under budget and most of the episodes was 20 minutes of talking and 3 minutes of action it was i waste of time for such a good premise. All characters are annoying AF could related to none of them and found their story basic with not enough reason to run from their real life

To be honest, I can hardly remember this embarrassing excuse of an anime. I only came to say this was the dumbest anime to ever be created/animated. The story is boring and unmemorable. The characters were dumb and obnoxious. Everything about this anime was absolutely mind-numbing. One of the things that I distinctly remember about this anime is that it just irritated me every time I watched it. And some of the sounds on the show were supposed to be "terrifying," but they were just odd and didn't make any sense what it was supposed to be. I truly believe I lost brain cells watching this and find it VERY hard to believe that anyone unironically enjoyed this burning pile.

Not even kidding you, the climax of the first episode is pretty much identical to Silent Hill Downpour's intro for some reason. Bus driver gets distracted (well he kinda goes crazy over nothing), speeds, looks away from the road, and they crash in the setting. Not to mention, the setting is foggy. A couple things I'd like to get out of the way here: -Characters are all terrible. They're pretty much entirely stereotypes. It's so damn boring. -Opening is ok. Yeah, I'd say the opening is pretty good. -Plot is ok, executed badly I like the idea of a horror village anime. I've kinda wished for the day one would come out that actually tried at genuine horror. Only other one I know of is Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (2006). I've been seriously hoping for a horror anime following some haunted vill…

I love mystery anime with horror background and Mayoiga has the feeling of it. The mystery builds up the story one by one and entering the climax with a satisfying ending, sadly its underated so we cant watch the continuation of the story. Mayoiga also has great art for the background, but on some scenes, its really bad (you will know when you watch it). I cant say that this is the best mystery horror anime, but for me Mayoiga is one of unique anime that u cant find on other series. I know that this anime has many plots that failed to improve, but i enjoy this series and its enough to make me comfortable to watch it marathon from hundred of series that i watched. I dont care its bad or no, but i would say that Mayoiga is one of the underrated anime on mal, if you looking for a mystery anim…

The lost village was truly riveting. From it’s suspense, the mysteries of Masaki to the revelations of the ‘Nanaki’, this anime juggled thriller, rom-com and may I argue a twist on slice of life. It really was a slice of life as it tackled a very real and prominent theme of escapism: runnning from ones psychological trauma. Many of us, including myself, frequently find ourselves sighing on the toilet and saying “god, I wish I could have a do over”. We escape happily through video games, anime, shopping sprees or painting in my case. Painting a serene calm, a raging storm, a sorrowful rain — all to escape a real lingering ‘nanaki’. And I love to paint! That’s the crazy part, just like the crew of the tour cheered as they escaped their trauma, ran from the nanaki, so do I when I happily enjo…

Worst Anime I've Ever Watched I just made this account since I wanted to start logging my anime list (excuse the pun) and the first thing I did was come and make sure I gave this anime a terrible review. No thought was put into the rating segment. It just deserves a 1 for everything (especially effort). I watched this show as it was airing 4 years ago or some shit, yet I can still remember just how awful it was. The first episode doesn't do an awful job setting up the story, but it's all downhill from there. BY FAR this is the worst anime that I have ever completed, let alone started. Why did I finish it? Idk. Maybe I'm a masochist. I kept hoping that they would somehow capitalize on the mysterious aura the show set up for itself, but it just never fucking happens. Anyway, moving on. I…

After 12 episodes I genuinely have no idea what this show was even trying to do. For some mysterious reason, I went into this expecting lots of death and gore. That was a mistake. There was none. In fact, the show dreadfully boring the whole way through. The story goes nowhere, half the characters have no reason to exist, and its not even 'so bad its good'. Objectively speaking, the art isn't bad at all, and the character designs are pretty alright. The problem lies in the fact that the characters themselves have all the charisma of lawn clippings. Perhaps some might find it funny in some strange way, but not for me. Spend your time on something more productive, like scrolling through memes or something. Just don't spend it on this.

Why did I watch this trainwreck? I got tricked by some of the positive reviews. I should have been more careful. There's no need to repeat 20 times what the other negative reviews have already stated. Basically the characters keep on screaming, crying, acting totally irrational. There is no explanation save for a few flashbacks. The whole show would have been better as a murder/mystery anime instead of a supernatural one. The art is the only redeeming quality. The nonsensical plot coupled with the unnerving character's behaviour made it such a grind. Save your time : it is NOT worth it.

If you took every trope you should avoid when making a psychological-thriller anime and clumped them together you would get Mayoiga. Mayoiga takes place in Nanaki village and is based upon the fact that it’s inhabitants are trying to start a new life and escape their “harsh” past, if I can even call some of those lame backstories that. I fairly enjoyed the first 6 episodes, they kept me entertained and made me want to keep watching, but it all went downhill from there. In the early episodes of Mayoiga , the anime provided subtle information to the watcher which would be used to infer what was happening; however, eventually the anime just started to shove everything in your face and it got to a point where it was irritating. This show loves to constantly drive the point into the viewer’…
