Ben-To

Introduction

The supermarket is an important building in any city, for they provide a convenient way to purchase a variety of food in a family-friendly, safe environment. However, these stores changes in the blink of an eye once the unsold bento boxes go on their nightly half-off sales! War breaks out and friends become foes as each person fights for honor, pride, and dinner. There are no longer any people in these supermarkets, only Wolves and Dogs—winners and losers. High schooler You Satou is painfully introduced to these battles after unknowingly stumbling into the war zone, but instead of choosing to avoid these nightly fights, he wants to join in. After seeing Satou's lack of fighting skills, upperclassman and Wolf Sen Yarizui invites him and Hana Oshiroi, a girl who enjoys spectating the brawls, to join her Half-Priced Food Lovers Club to show them the distinction between the Dogs and the Wolves. Together, they learn what it truly means to fight for your food. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

The validity of this review is up to interpretation since it is based upon my opinions. Subject; Ben-To Art/Animation: The artstyle is great for the story being portrayed and it is flattering to the tone and theme set for the season. Animation is well done for the most part, however there are minor noticeable imperfections at times but that is not a negative instead it adds to the comedy. With that aside the animation is enjoyable enough for anything left to be desired. Angles are used interestingly well especially for the ecchi or comedic shots, which only add to the series charm. On the other hand space is used good enough at times but some scenes leave much to be desired. Cinematography is good or generic at times, however at times there are scenes or shots that are excellent that mak…

Its a good anime, not anything that'll blow you away, but will make you very enticed to its world. the fanservice is a lot tho, yet the main character isn't 2 dimensional and the ending is very sweet. the characters have a lot of personality and (at least the dub) they talk like normal people the entire time which makes the gags hit even harder. also the fight scenes as they battle for bento is crazy good, straight brawling, like they jumping everybody. there's some philosophy in there about strength and teamwork, also to never give up despite the obstacle. the world building behind such a simple concept is so good too, it makes you feel like ben-to. I VERY RECOMMEND IT

This anime does a great job at parody! I enjoyed how seriously characters took themselves (at the beginning), and the music had my partner and I turning to each other in surprise every other episode in the beginning. The oboe duets?? Jazzy atonal trumpet crunches?? To metal?? Just a wild ride! I would say to stop after episode 6 if you enjoy the light tone, because the structure shifts at that point. Episodes 7-9 are pure fanservice and 10-12 do a poor job to reimmerse you in the brawls after showing you that it isn't just parodying ecchi, it wants to be ecchi. But! it was still enjoyable humor in the early episodes, and the DVD extra of the distribution team doing a choreographed brawl is absolutely adorable.

Now, Ben-To is a great example of how dragging on a good idea can guide you to make a below average show. So, the premise of the series is that young people, and middle schoolers and early high schoolers at that, who are otherwise unable to afford bento boxes from supermarkets fight to the last person so they can get half-priced bento f at the discount hour. There are groups competing for the insufficient amount of bento, so we have competing groups of Bento hunters. Our main character Sato becomes one of these bento hunters via his student club members and meets lots of girls and some menacing lads during the bento hunts. They develop strategies and end up working together or against each other. This is a very nice setup for a 50 minutes long film. However, when you stretch the time to o…

Have you ever seen videos of Black Friday shoppers going crazy to get their desired goodies, battling it out to get their hands on the product they want to buy cheap? This is basically an anime about it! Food on sale! And people going at it to get their hands on it! It's like a daily battle royale! A ridiculous one but very entertaining! If you're a fan of just hand to hand combat + some crazy typical fighting game music, this is a must watch :) If you like plot, I wouldn't go for this one. If you like anime fights, hand to hand, definitely give this one a shot! I would put it 7/10, but this is one of those that I'd rewatch so 8/10 it is!

This anime, Ben-to is like watching Spider-Man without no story. The point I'm making is, Spider-Man fights Villains without knowing the main character deeply. I love it because it's an overall BRAWL. If you're looking for a fun experience without focusing too hard on the story, then this is an anime for you. If you care about story, then this wouldn't be good. It has a mixed of hentai with those elements not ruining the fun of the episodes. It shows some of it but not all in every episode. The things I would take out of the anime is just the animation. Once a fighter beats someone up, automatic black screen. Without animation put into a fight scene. It chops a few corners here and there. Not every fight scene is like that but sometimes only. The comedy is just an average perverty jokes (I…

Just like there is junk food, there is also junk anime, and Ben Tou is a fine example. Anime regarding food usually have to do with cooking contests. How to gather the proper ingredients, how to cook them properly, and how to amaze the judges. On a basic level these shows are motivational, as they tell you about the beauty of gastronomy and how cool it is to be a chef. Ben Tou though has nothing to do with cooking, although it is about food. Instead of trying to show or say something, it is just about fighting for whom gets to buy canned food and prepared meals from the grocery in half price. So basically, you have a bunch of guys and gals kicking the crap out of each other on a daily basis, just so they pay half as much for their dinner. So you will now be probably wondering if this is a…

"We are wolves and as wolves we put our prides on the line." -A rich man inspiring a confused homeless man to steal food (Minor spoilers) This anime has all the traits of a good anime, over the top (and mainly sexual) comedy, the typical plots and absolutely annoying characters who add no depth to the show but serve as only plot points to harass the main character or use as filler for the show and the main character who is mostly misunderstood as noone even pays attention to what he is saying (This sentence was sarcasm by the way). The fanservice added to the flames and made it into a dumpster fire making me watch the whole thing in twice the speed (which you shouldn't do, please watch things at normal speed and take it in second by second) Occasionally the comedy made me laugh, as it remi…

Ben-To is the quintessential anime. If you asked any weeb what traits are common to anime, chances are Ben-To would have everything they listed. Epic fights, enemies to allies/rivals, cute girls, fanservice, a swimsuit episode, the power of friendship, a plain-looking protagonist, an unrealistically powerful student council, a pseudo-harem, yuri, and more. All it's missing is the culture/sports/summer festival episodes, but it's not really a school anime (despite all the characters being highschoolers) so I won't count them. Regardless, Ben-To ties all these together in a story about half-price bento. Basically, there's a whole culture built around fighting over the bento that grocery stores discount toward the end of the day, and it's kind of fascinating to see the etiquette and the group…

how unlucky was I to find this anime in my recommendations list!!!!! yeah, you might say this bthunijsd started the review by whining umma gonna skip it. well, I don't care. do what you like but this guy is gonna say the truth and it is that ben-to was awful........ don't let the first couple of episodes fool you because it does start great with its beloved shonen theme,out-of-the-usual setting, and good narrating but one or two episodes shouldn't be a cause for you to sit through the rest 10 agonizing over inconsistent story flow, bad character development, worse dialogue(actually it wasn't that bad I just thought it could have been better), and stuff. for some, the cuteness of the girls may be enough to continue watching which I understand. other than that you only see delicious Japane…

This is one of those anime that has an absurd/bizarre premise that you need to roll with that actually pays off. First off, they are fighting over half-price ben-to boxes, but the way the writing just does worldbuilding and just expands on this culture was incredibly surprising. Seriously, I love when creators do this, just expanding upon a concept instead of presenting it in the simple way you are expecting; Suddenly, you understand the honor, the rules, as well as the pride a character obtains from fighting, not against enemies (although there are several antagonists, I'm talking on a day-to-day basis) but against friendly rivals you get to know along the way. Also, the fights are fast-paced and the INCREDIBLE sound editing and design interwoven with fluid animation just allows you to "…

SPOILERS......... This anime really had a unique concept, which really interested me throughout the 12 episodes, the characters were decent enough to make me invested till the last episode and the animation style was good too. The problem I had with this show was the important moments were done poorly like the fight with Tadaki Endou was really underwhelming. the build was really good but when it came down the moment they presented it with really poor execution, the same thing happened with the last villain The club of Hercules build-up was good but they blew it up in the presentaion. Overall I still had good laughs throughout the show and had a good time.

one of my favorites types of anime to watch are those which are stupid, yet understand they are stupid. This show’s premise is every night people gather in stores all over to fight for half price bento boxes and if that doesn’t sound fun as a TV show idea then you must be a boring person. The show is pure insanity yet Carries it’s self with this insanity very well, the pure thrill of watching these people beat the every living hell out of each other all for a half off bento is such an entertaining and engaging process. The intro it’s self also slaps and get you in the perfect mood to watch this show, the only thing I wish is that episode 9 wasn’t in this show. Episode 9 was all fan service and really took me out of the show. Besides that the show was amazing and will serve as a guilty plea…

While I was watching this series I smiled and laughed but never did I expect to be moved emotionally from something as silly as fighting over food. It just goes to show that passion and action speaks and I really enjoyed this unique series because of that and the many unexpected emotions they were able to build up throughout this series. It has some really charming art and the lewd side is just wacky fun that made me smile most of the time as the main character constantly embarrasses himself yet he still gives off this honest guy vibe. You add in some very impactful sounds that really make these food fights fairly engaging especially with how much of a fire they light for the grill. one note... THE SOUND TRACK~ that is all have to say about that. I really enjoyed this series, it has som…

Not gonna lie I watched this like 3 years ago on youtube in one of those small screen videos where the voice pitch it higher, and I remember having a pretty good time at 3am. Story 6 I feel that the story was a little lacking but that doesn't really matter if you go out of your way to watch this because your most likely watching because your bored. Art its not bad I liked it so it gets a good old 7 from me. Sound I don't fucking remember so im gonna give it a 7, because it probably wasn't bad. Character I don't know how to say this but they weren't very developed basically but they were pretty funny so im gonna give it a 6 its not the worst thing I've witnessed Enjoyment Id give this a 8, when your brain is fried at 3am and you have to wake up at 6 the next morning its pretty nice to…

The anime is basically an anime where people in a town fight over bentos, Bentos are basically lunch boxes if you didn't know. But why the fighting right? More demand and less supply. The mc in the beginning wakes up and realizes he was knocked out trying to get a bento. The mc then meets a mysterious senpai who then teaches him techniques to get his own bento. This anime has several characters which have interesting appeals. This is a light-hearted anime with no serious plot, so it's good for a fun watch. It has good comedy, so I do recommend. Sadly, this anime is not getting season 2 anytime soon as it did not do so well

Ben-To, taking "fighting over food" to the next level. Ben-To an anime about fighting for discounted bentos. Those who successfully get a bento is allowed to eat the bento, and those who failed to get a bento must forfeit and scram with their cup noodles. There are many factions, and individuals who stand out more than the others are given titles such as "The Wizard" or "The Ice Witch". To be frank, I was actually taken by surprise by this anime. It was unexpectedly entertaining to watch. Although the abstraction of overreacting concerning discounted bentos may seem ludicrous, it was actually fun to see something as unique as this in display. The story of Ben-To is quite simple with barely any good plots. Still, the show was very fun to watch overall. It's like watching Durarara with…

If you are cheap, like competing for food and or don't have that much money. Well this anime is that. Well this anime shows a part where you have to fight for food, while you are a student. Adults can compete for food. Main character gets a buff. Some good comedy and shows some of their daily life turned to food fighting. This anime shows the meaning of food, how you have to savor the food and enjoy the food that you can get. While buying food is good and all, but when you get that food that you fight for it just tastes a bit better. Story-8 Art-8 Sound-8 Character-8 Enjoyment-8 Overall-8

A story about a bunch of people fighting over bento's in a supermarket that are half priced. What more can you ask for huh? Honestly surprised at how well I enjoyed this. I thought I would skip through the entire thing to the interesting parts but I didn't... Story 7/10: Okay... The story isn't amazing right. I mean it's a well thought and perfectly executed story line and I enjoyed it... but it's a bunch of kids fighting over half priced bentos at a supermarket? The story progressed well at the beginning although I was kinda confused at the beginning due to them taking forever to explain what was actually going on. Was getting kinda annoyed that it took them so long too explain that people were fighting over half priced bentos and there was basically no reason to it. Also I would love to…
