Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc

Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc

Introduction

Despite the immediate challenges following becoming a devil hunter with the Public Safety Bureau, Denji has quickly adapted to his new life and responsibilities. As the chaos of Denji's first ordeal with Public Safety settles down, the elite devil hunter Makima decides to take Denji out on a date. Although the date strengthens his affection for Makima and he swears to not fall in love with anyone else, Denji soon finds himself in a tricky situation when he meets a seemingly innocent cafe worker named Reze. With her forward and flirty demeanor, Reze immediately captures Denji's heart, driving him to frequent the cafe where she works and deepen his relationship with her. However, Denji is completely oblivious to the fact that meeting Reze might have grave consequences beyond simply deciding which woman his heart belongs to. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

It's been more than a year since I watched this movie in cinemas. Was exited for this but exceeded my expectations. This really feels like a movie even though it's a direct sequel to the CSM season 1 unlike other shounen movies. Introducing a new character Reze in this movie and her bittersweet character arc just works. Her "romance" with Denji perfectly works for me even better than most romance animes. Ueda Reina is just phenomenal as Reze. Music is a huge reason why I love this movie. Kensuke Ushio's music hits like a truck specially "In the Pool" and "Reze"and opening and ending is a banger too. Idk how Mappa gonna match the animation level they set with this movie in season 2. Even someone who didn't watch season 1 even they can follow the movie. One of the best movies I have ever wat…

MAPPA went above and beyond to try and deliver PEAK emotional depth and storytelling with this one. Which is pretty damn hilarious considering the source material is just a 14 chapter arc about a lame bomb chick with no substance, and Denji being driven entirely by his lust like the rabid dog that he is (to the very bitter end of the manga). Instead of actual character development, MAPPA relies so much on cheap shock value and a recycled formula where a questionable "femme fatale" manipulates a protag who possesses ZERO emotional maturity or dignity. Emotional weight is non-existent in Denji. The whole thing is a disaster. Not only is there a subpar plot, but the choppy (3 frames per maybe) animation which lacks detail. It feels rushed, fooling its easily amused and uncritical viewers by h…

Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc Reze movie... Late to the party, so I basically already knew what would happen beforehand. However, that didn't take away from my enjoyment of this movie. The characters' interaction and chemistry, action sequence, story, and the OST are very good. That being said, for me, there are still problems with this movie. For example, the pacing in some parts was a bit dragged out, abrupt character writing. Regardless, it's very entertaining to watch. It has good characters and beautifully animated fight sequences, which are the main selling points in this movie. This movie gets an 8/10 from me. Here's my breakdown in detail: Story 7/10: The story takes place after the main series. If I'm being honest, the plot progression isn't significant. It's just like any…

I went into this expecting crazy Chainsaw Man action, but the emotional side surprised me the most. The story focuses on Denji meeting Reze, a girl who brings a completely different energy into his life. Their relationship starts off sweet and simple, but things gradually become much more complicated. I liked how the movie gives Denji more emotional depth while still keeping the strange humor and unpredictability of Chainsaw Man. The animation looks fantastic, especially during the action scenes, but the quieter moments are just as important. The characters also feel flawed and believable rather than simply being heroes or villains. It’s still very much Chainsaw Man violent, weird, funny and unpredictable but there’s a surprisingly emotional story underneath it. If you enjoyed Season 1,…

I watched this one in the cinema, and honestly, kudos to the story because it was awesome. The way everything slowly develops between Denji and Reze had me really invested, and I liked how the movie wasnt just nonstop chaos. There was actually some emotional weight behind what was happening, which made the whole thing hit harder. That said, I felt like something was missing when it came to the action scenes. Maybe because I was watching it on the big screen, I was expecting some absolutely insane Chainsaw Man moments that would make me go “DEYM!” 😂 There were some good action parts, but I personally wanted more. A few scenes felt like they were building up to something much crazier, and then it was over before I could really get that hype feeling.

Wow. It's one of the most beautiful and sad anime movies I have seen in a while. It is so perfect from start to finish. It is tragic. The action sequences are really good. It has a lasting impact on you when you think about it. I would say it is even better than the first season. How can you outdo this masterpiece in the second season. The relationship between Reze and Denji is so well written. I have read Chainsaw manga after this. I would say Reze might be the best written character in this series. I have said it. This might be a hot take.

Having read the entire arc in the manga, seeing it finally get adapted was such a satisfying experience. I already knew exactly what was going to happen, but somehow that did not make the movie any less enjoyable. If anything, watching these characters and moments fully animated made me appreciate the arc even more. I think the movie did a really good job of respecting the manga while also making the most out of being a movie. Everything feels much more cinematic, and the direction, music, animation, and overall audiovisual presentation were probably the things that stood out to me the most. There are quite a few moments that I already liked in the manga that just hit differently when you actually see them animated. I am also really glad they decided to make this a movie instead of turni…

This movie will be a hit or miss for many, and the parts and genres you're paying attention to or expecting something out of will have a significant impact to you personally, but if you manage to enjoy things you weren't expecting it'll likely be atleast a great experience, to me, I expected: More chemistry and scenes between Denji and Reze (but taking into account it's a movie and there's not enough screen time to adapt everything, I can't complain) and more time to digest emotional, tragical and impactant scenes. But still, the movie managed to surprised me in some aspects such as: - Subtle philosophical content - Great ambience you'll only get out of great movies - Visual and auditory emotional content - Thrill and horror I hadn't felt reading the manga I still think this movie won't…

A movie that effortlessly delivers the laughs, the feels, the yikes, the wtf and the excitement. The first half is a bit slower, like a feel-good slice-of-life romance, but it keeps you on your toes the whole time because you know you are watching Chainsaw Man and some crazy sh*t could go down any minute. And then it does and it doesn't stop until the end. Reze and Denji is an odd but weirdly endearing couple, and their relationship really takes you on a rollercaster ride throughout the movie. I'm quite amazed how well-developed Reze feels as a character, despite the fact we really weren't given too much info about her and we can just assume how she ended up the way she did. The movie also shows a surprisingly human-like side of Makima on two instances, which made me realize she actua…

"Chainsaw Man - The Movie: the Reze Arc" represents the current pinnacle of modern Mappa productions. In it they have managed to capture Tatsuki Fujimoto's masterful amalgamation of Shonen fights, Seinen characters and a slice of life love story. After the innovations and impressions made by both Chainsaw Man season 1 onto anime culture and the Chainsaw Man manga onto manga culture, the team at Mappa has once again managed to reach a new height, and thus consolidated their spot in the pantheon of anime studios. But one does not have to set the Reze-Arc into a time frame in order to present its genius. This work is fully capable of standing on its own feet and, please allow my indulgence, will endure that which we all fear. The test of time. In regards to animation one can only complai…

It may seem like an average movie if you come from the first season and don't know much about the manga in general, or maybe you just follow the anime up to today, but this movie is truly amazing. I don't want to call it a masterpiece because I feel that as the anime progresses, two arcs will come out that will surpass it in different ways. Returning to the movie and the Reze arc in general, it's true that if you read it directly from the manga, it doesn't seem like a big deal (I say this because for me, the arc itself is a 7 or 7.5 at most), but watching it in the movie is totally different. It features a great opening like "IRIS OUT," the ending which, honestly, is kind of mediocre "JANE DOE," and then the gem of the whole movie, which is "in the pool" or "in the sea," the piano that pla…

What a blast. The entire second half was pretty much just one gigantic action sequence, and it was fucking incredible to watch. The animation goes sicko mode, and I was just smiling the whole time watching it all play out. Reze's powers lead to so many great chances to show off such amazing animation, and it also makes for the fight scenes to be constantly creative. It's just insanely fun to experience it all. The sound design is also fantastic. It gets me completely immersed and makes me feel the power of each and every action. The first half of this movie acts as a really good setup for the amazing second half. I liked all of the scenes between Reze and Denji, especially that pool scene, which also contained some really beautiful music. The soundtrack in general is great, and I love how…

Story unique its tells how both of the main characters didn't had a chance to experience what some others had. The Art work did a very good job on the animation and developing the characters emotions and actions sequences. The character developement was really good from the start till finish. The music/ost was one of my favorites part of this movie, which made the story more unique and shows the emotions behind it loved it. I really reccomend this movie if you want to experience the roller coster of emotions and enjoyment that i had with watching this beautifull created master-piece.

[ENG] I loved it. It’s like two movies in one: the first one is very much like Goodbye, Eri (this guy has a bit of a fixation on women who seem ethereal but turn out to be the kind of people who ruin your life, he really should go to therapy); the second, on the other hand, is a lets punch eachother in the face (I don't know how to translate this phrase from Spanish to English without it losing aura). There’s nothing bad to say about the audiovisuals: the direction is beautiful, the animation is flawless, and the soundtrack absolutely breaks everything (I’m going to ignore the fact that MAPPA is exploitative). My only complaint? I should’ve gone to the theater to see it. I’ll never forget this thing. [SPA] Amé. Son como dos películas en una sola: la primera es muy Sayonara, Eri (este…

This movie is a certified theatre experience that you shouldn't miss and being only 90 min doesn't take too much time to get you and immerse you into its cinematic fleur. The 1st half handles the emotions and mysteries while also spell out the high end stakes which is absolutely fulfilled by the BOMBastic 2nd half and it's not wrong to say it is CINEMA in its purest, entertainable form. This movie actually requires you to watch its prequel series which is entertaining in its own way. Honestly while the movie is really good, you may have noticed my low rating to this. This is due to it not being as hyped as people made it out to be. It's a certified cinema experience that will stay with you for another few yrs but it is still not that good according to the other movies that are ranked below…

A logical continuation of the TV series, with some originality in the animation, which occasionally shifts style during fight scenes: the artistic direction took some risks, and I really enjoyed that. However, the character animation on certain shots was sometimes poor. This inconsistency in the artwork and animation is what keeps me from wanting to give it a 10/10. The music accompanied the scenes very well, and like many people, I absolutely loved the pool scene. Composer Kensuke Ushio created a masterpiece with the track "in the pool." Additional pieces of music were added — I thought I recognized some ending themes from the TV series: there was a great punch to them during the frantic fight sequences. The story is enjoyable, the relationship between Reze and Denji is nicely asymmetrica…

So I finally got time to watch the Chainsaw Man movie, and I loved it I honestly think Chainsaw Man: The Movie – Reze Arc is one of the best anime movies out there. From the animation to the action to the emotional moments, everything just feels so well done. MAPPA absolutely cooked with this movie. What I loved most was how it wasn't just nonstop fights. The movie gives you time to connect with the characters, especially Denji and Reze, which makes the emotional moments hit way harder. The action scenes are incredible, but it's the story and character interactions that really make the movie special. The animation is also phenomenal. Every fight looks amazing, and some shots genuinely look like they belong in a live-action film. The soundtrack and atmosphere are great too, and they do a…

Upon a friend’s recommendation, I walked into the theater expecting a typical shonen action movie — one that feels like a string of episodes with its value relying on the fact that it’s a continuation of an already-existing show. Boy, was I wrong. (VAGUE, MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD) This film was distinctly split into two halves: one half dealt with the introduction of Reze in a romantic light, and the second half was full of the action we’d usually expect from Chainsaw Man. The first half was beautifully produced. Great art, great music, great animation. There was some surface-level symbolism, but after analyzing the movie in retrospect, I definitely missed some clever details that were sprinkled in. The relationship between Denji and Reze is built quickly, without many questions being ask…
