This is a great reminder to not judge a book by it's cover, or rather an anime by it's title. Cherry Magic was so wildly funny that it had me laughing out loud almost every episode, and it was also very sweet and surprisingly wholesome. Of course the plot of having the power of telepathy bestowed upon 30 old virgins is unhinged, but it was a good tool to help the main character who is very shy and self conscious see other perspectives and ultimately push himself out of his comfort zone.
The 2 main characters Adachi and Kurosawa have great chemistry. Kurosawa is kind and steadfast in his love for Adachi. He radiates confidence on the outside, yet on the inside he deals with doubting himself and he is frequently overcome with intense emotions. In contrast, Adachi doesn't really know what h…

What an unhinged premise. The only purpose of unexplained magic in this universe is to kickstart an actually sweet love story. I like how you can see how the two main leads’ perception of the other is so different from how they view themselves, and how that makes them feel. We see Adachi through his own self-perception and then through Kurosawa's, and vice versa. I also liked that Cherry Magic touched on some of the ethics of mind-reading where consent is concerned, because even though Kurosawa likes Adachi, his desire is still private thoughts he has under the assumption only he could hear them. It's an awareness that a lot of mind-reading stories don't have. Adachi is concerningly relatable. The telepathy power shenanigans are utterly hilarious. The secondary romance is ok but still cute…

if i'm 100% honest, the 5 average rating i gave this anime is entirely based on the animation quality and pacing issues, however the story itself is really interesting and i found it to be a good mix of romcom, slice-of-life, and supernatural fantasy. there is also a live action version of this, which i also watched, though the story did get changed slightly - for the better imo. but honestly, very cute, funny BL story.
adachi was pretty relatable and for someone who just gained the ability to hear people's thoughts, i felt his reactions were pretty realistic. i also liked that the perfect-seeming kurosawa is a complete dork in love who still has some awkward moments. i will admit i was only interested in the main couple for the most part and was somewhat disinterested in the secondary p…

Personally, I'd say it's a average BL. It's sweet and a quick watch, but unfortunately, because of the 12-episode , everything felt way too rushed. The animes concept was nice, but they couldn't really pull it off well. That was one of the missing pieces. For instance, at one point there was a bit of an argument, and again, everything was resolved way too easily. This transfer issue was settled without even being properly discussed.
We barely got to see the second couple, for instance. They didn't even get one full episode's worth of screen time for their relationship. That bummed me out a bit. I think a few more episodes would have given the story more room to breathe.
The animation wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible either. The music, opening, and ending were just meh.

It was really cute. After about episode 10 I began to get a little disinterested with the story but other than that I found the main couple very adorable and fun to watch interact. I thought it was funny too, the jokes were exactly up to my speed but I could see how it wouldn't land with some people. If you like wholesome BL with a healthy relationship, I'd say this is for you!
The art style is very generic, the character designs don't stand out at all, which I guess makes sense for a slice of life. Though, if you want something visually appealing, this isn't it. The animation itself is eh, if I could rate that on its own, I'd give it a 4.5/10. Some scenes are higher quality though.
I think the main couple handle the situations they're put in in a believable way. Though, the main protag…

This anime, in a lovely and unique way, stands apart from BL anime, which often (though not always) romanticize problematic relationships and toxic behavior. It creates a story that feels as normal as possible, focusing on just two 30-year-old men interacting and, by chance, developing a romance. I feel the plot sets a trap, making you think it will be like all the other stories, but as you keep watching, you're surprised to find it's a very healthy relationship. I wouldn't say it's the best story ever made; it doesn't have the deepest development or the best art (there are times when the animation is a bit rough, but it's not the worst in the world), but that's the charm. It's a series to watch peacefully and simply to have a good time. I liked that this was the first BL anime I've seen,…

This anime was way better than I expected, ridiculously wholesome and cute. One of my first bls, the characters are both incredibly compelling Kurosawa being both funny and a green flag all the way around. The idea of the story is interesting and humorus, reading your partners mind which leads to either funny misunderstandings or no misunderstandings at all. The conflict doesn't feel forced, instead it feels natural and realistic. Their relationship is sweet and innocent, unlike a lot of bl media (which is fine lol just something to point out). The tone of this anime is also rather unique to most romances, 100% recommend!

I haven't touched a BL series in over 10 years, but I found this one and ended up binge-watching the entire thing in one sitting.
It’s simple, full of classic tropes, and honestly a bit silly at times—but that’s exactly why it works. It is such an easy, "feel-good" watch that is surprisingly rewarding.
What really sold it for me was the office setting. Having worked in a Japanese company myself, I was impressed by how realistic the corporate culture felt. It grounded the story and made the romance feel much more believable. Plus, the voice acting was top-tier and really brought the characters to life! If you need a comfort watch, this is it.

The first episode of this show gave me high hopes for the rest of the series, but after the first episode, it got increasingly worse. The downsides of this anime were that the animation was bad at times, and the color palette was bland, which fed into the overall boringness of this anime. The jokes in the first episode made me laugh, but after that, the jokes didn't even get a chuckle out of me. I found the show's biggest weakness to be that it got boring to watch.
The stuff I did enjoy about the show was its characters. I liked both of the main characters, which was the reason why I didn't drop the anime. I didn't care for the side couple in the beginning, but eventually I started to care for them. I loved the romance in the show; it was really cute. The ending of the show was beautiful…

I watched this anime on a whim, just something that caught my eye scrolling Crunchyroll and WOW I am blown away!!
This reignited my love for BL anime. It’s the best one I have seen in an awhile. It gave me butterflies and the fujoshi euphoria that makes you excited for each episode. I was curled in a blanket, smiling harder than I have in ages just squealing to myself. It gave me the feeling that reminds me how much I love this genre.
I think the story was really good. Very simple premise, simple characters, but done well. There was no crazy twists or drama to make your heart ache and it had the right amount of fluff. The story gives you what you want and wraps it up nicely. It also doesn’t take until the very end for them to get together. The side romance is also enjoyable as well but d…

Seriously, such a wholesome and non-toxic romance for the genre, just the two purest bl relationships. The physical scenes are few and mild, but top-tier. The intensity and tension in both relationships are felt so deeply without needing to push the explicit envelope. It is a warm and fuzzy romance, but it does an excellent job of layering in the sexual tension that naturally develops through seemingly small moments.
Characters were pretty unique and memorable, just a few lame side characters. The workplace setting is fitting, and they actually act like adults who are at work (for the most part). Definitely a more subtle dynamic than high school bl's and more respectful of consent than a lot of other office bls. Pacing is good, but the end felt rushed.

Such a straightforward and cliché plot in the BEST way possible: Adachi, an awkward 30 year old virgin who can read minds discovers that his admired-by-all co-worker, Kurosawa, has been crushing on him.
Barely any unnecessary plot lines or characters that are just meant to make the series longer. It’s still very focused on the main couple, Adachi and Kurosawa, feeling (and also discovering) their romantic attraction and desires for one another. It rather feels anticlimactic or boring by storyline alone, but the main couple’s dynamic and personalities add more to the enjoyment of watching their romance brew. Though their relationship evolves quick despite the couple not really knowing too much of each other initially, it’s a satisfying upcoming.
(there’s a second couple that might not be…

Damn, I can’t believe I was tricked into watching a fluffy BL anime version of ‘The 40-Year-Old Virgin’… and loved it.
Right off the bat let me just say what originally kept me away from watching this anime for a while— The art style. It grew on me as I watched, and it’s nice, just not my thing. It’s ‘shinier’ and more modern than what I prefer. It’s almost standard, but that’s not a bad thing. I can see why I found this through TikTok-like shorts going around. The way their faces and hair are drawn took me a while to enjoy, but the personality of the show made up for it, so I didn’t mind about 2 to 3 episodes in.
I like this story premise, it’s fun, quirky, and a little spicy (kinda). There’s no Toxic Yaoi™ here; Cherry Magic! is pure tooth-rotting fluff with small amounts of drama. All…

If you want to feel those lovey-dovey kicks in your stomach, than definitely watch this anime. It will make you fall in love with "Love" itself. This anime brought me to Romance anime again even though this is the very first BL anime, and I usually don't prefer BL but some shorts from the first episode dragged me here and now I am a but depressed that nobody will love me. Haha...
Anyway, I loved how they focused on the phase where we start falling for someone, because that's the precious moment. Also, Dubbings of the main characters are awesome, especially Adachi, his voice used to be very low and filled with self doubt, where gradually it started becoming more confident about himself. On the very few last episode, you will see, Adachi looks in the eye, and parted his hair nicely, and doe…

The characters are so cuteeeeee.
When the anime started coming out, I said, "Wow, another anime with a super strange name... I'M GOING TO WATCH IT!" and I have to admit I really liked the story. I don't regret watching it; it changed my perspective on several "adult" topics, which are a bit difficult to accept once you get older.
Every chapter has a huge contagious energy. The character development is also so good. I don’t want to give you spoilers, but the last chapter is so cute that it makes me want to have a boyfriend like Kurosawa. He is so funny and he gives me golden retriever vibes, which I love.
In all the story, there are super cute characters with a laugh-inducing innocence. It has romance, drama, comedy, this anime has it all.
I recommend it if you want to laugh and have a…

Let me preface this review with one thing: I am a big fan of the slice-of-life genre, as well as romance, especially queer romance. And look, to some extent I see how I can be a little spoiled - I am into danmei, so I'm used to engaging and elaborate plots, deeper characterization, all that stuff. But this anime was just not it and I'm surprised to see how highly it's rated on here.
My first complaint is that the series is a slop to get through. It is very, very boring. For the better part of the anime, there's no overarching plot, really; it's just a bunch of typical romance tropes glued together with the hope it'll stick somewhat, for better or worse. The animation is also nothing to write home about: low budget, with muddy colors and a very inconsistent art style. Some shots of Adachi…

Besides the weird title, this is a great anime that I enjoyed quite a bit.
Seeing adults in love in an office setting was refreshing compared to yet another romance set in high school. Adachi’s supernatural ability leads to some hilarious situations that are either funny, heartwarming, or both. It also sparks serious conversations about trust and their future plans. The characters have realistic expectations and talk things out like adults.
I’d love to rate this even more highly, but the drawing style and animation quality are inconsistent. For example, their noses constantly change size and shape, which is distracting. There are also too many stills and panning shots for my liking.
The B-plot involving the second pairing could have been handled better and had more potential, though it…

Watch literally anything else or just read the manga, because this adaptation provides nothing and the original can't be worse.
This anime is so mediocre and empty that there's not even ridiculous offensiveness to laugh at, it's just bad. If you remove all the tired (and slightly creepy) cliches, which half the time don't contribute ANYTHING to the story (like the random fujoshi), there's nothing but a slideshow. The whole thing feels and looks like baby's first fanfic edit of a manga.
The story itself is uninspired and most of the show drags its feet while simultaneously pulling relationship milestones out of nowhere. The main characters have more chemistry with random side characters until the very final episodes where they go from 10 to a 100. The focus on the secondary couple is also…

There is a joke that at the age of 30, if you're still a virgin, you'll turn into a wizard. In this universe this joke holds true and Adachi discovers this on his birthday.
Among the sea of annoyed voices there is one that reaches out to him and floods his senses with adoration. Trouble is it's another guy, Mr. popular at work too so... huh?!
The title is a bit atrocious however the show itself is rather adorable. Also it's one of those rare shows where the romance actually progresses beyond the hand holding stage!
The characters are all adults and act like it... mostly, they are "wizards" for a reason.
My one critic would be that the writer side character spoke like a total neckbeard in the english dub, ew. but overall the stories were nice and the characters cute.
I think this Ma…

I never write reviews, I only really use this site because I have some memory issues and this helps me keep track of what episode I'm on but this anime deserves it. OMG is this one of the funniest things I've ever watched. It's downright hilarious. It's not like peak animation but I don't care this is going in the top 10 for me just for how much it made me laugh. The fujoshi self-insert made me cackle pretty much every time she showed up. And I just adore Masato and Adachi, the two leads, they are just a joy to watch. I doubt there will be a season 2 but I wish there would be because watching these dumb nerds was so much fun. Give it a watch if you haven't, OMG it's such a good time.
