It starts out having a ton of campy qualities. Lots of hilarious plot developments and action scenes. There's also a recurring bit where whenever a character was farther away, the studio appears to have made their VA stand across the room and yell their lines, it split my sides for a while.
But then about 10 or so episodes in the novelty wears off. All the things that made the camp start repeating more and more. The storylines are pure nonsense but they're also way too boring to keep me engaged. There's a noticeable budget increase for the final 2 episodes but the pacing for these episodes goes at the speed of light. You can tell there were tons of gaps in the material they were trying to adapt for one reason or another, I had this constant feeling that there was something missing in the…

Watching the first episode of "D.N.Angel", I found myself wondering more about where the heck does this take place? The language is Japanese, the architecture is Mediterranean, and at times characters speak German with many plot points having a Catholic motif. I guess it was a harbinger of things to come that I wanted to know MORE about what was going on than what I got. Still, "D.N.Angel" proved to be a solid show aimed at the early teen demographic from back in 2003. Coming from Xebec, a studio with a solid reputation, I didn't actually pick this show myself. I asked a friend to pick a letter and number; D and 4. That led me to this on Crunchyroll- and I'm glad I found it.
The show starts in very action-packed fashion as a pair of winged angels do battle- one dark and one light- until t…

D.N. Angel is underrated.
Its plot and characters may seem simple, but its execution is definitely noteworthy. The main and side characters are charming and believable, the story's magic system is compelling, and I adore the characters' overall relationships. Daisuke and Dark are a great pair, and while the former may seem like a typical protagonist he's a nice guy and I want him to succeed. His interactions with the cast have good chemistry, particularly with Dark and Hiwatari and the "romantic" bits are reasonable for the characters' age group.
That being said, D.N. isn't perfect. Its story strays a bit from the manga so some details may be lost in translation, especially with the ending. While I am fine with the cast, some may find them as one-note or annoying. The artwork is definit…

This anime made me so mad lol i liked it in middle school and recently decided to rewatch it with a friend.
To start: there's not a single likeable character in this thing. The twins are whiny and stubborn for no damn reason, Daisuke too tbh, side characters are obnoxious, and Dark's a creepy ass bastard i wanna whoop him omg (constantly hitting on
Also none of the characters have any goddamn sense, always making dumb decisions just for the drama of it all. Like no one just acts like a regular human the whole time I'm dumbfounded by their interactions and reasonings
Also the villain being named krad is so dumb it's hilarious 😂 I ain't got much to say about the other villains cause they were so boring I forgot everything bout them
The story is super weak and really don't make much sen…

Binge watched this anime all day and do not regret it one bit!! Loved this anime from the very beginning due to it's story. The story is actually very immersive as it's constantly adding to itself with new elements being added every episode. The characters were also great as they added to the story with background stories. The MC going from one girl that didn't care about him to the actual girl that cared made me smile. Although the progress risa made towards the end helped her character development. The boii white angel was actually really helpful throughout the season which did surprise me. As in most anime villians tend to stay on the bad side. All in all this anime was great along with it's story and characters. Riku was best girl and i'm glad she won!! D.N. Angel 9/10

The first impression I had of D.N.Angel was to watch a Japanese novel. This anime literally works with constant changes and the anime presents very well the maturity of the characters. This anime is ahead of its time by showing young people creating an adult maturity, and the animation, sound and dialogues were sublime at all times. Fun, comedy, romance, drama and adventure. We found all of this in D.N.Angel.

This was the first anime I ever watched (excluding Pokemon / Yugioh, which even non anime-fans can't avoid, haha!) and I've re-watched it time and time again (well, about 4 times). It's great. I'll only touch upon a few of the topics listed above.
Character [10/10] - Great character development throughout, the romance scenes are so great!
Enjoyment [10/10] - No matter how many times I watch this, I'll always love it
Sound [9/10] - tbh I only gave a 9 so it looked like I wasn't dishing out brainless 10's, the OST in this is brilliant! I listen to it for fun sometimes!
Overall [10/10] - So amazing, such a heartfelt plot and group of characters, great OST, beautiful anime.

I'm very obsessed with this anime. I have already watched it 6 times and will most likely continue to watch it for years to come. I've only read a little of the Manga but there will be some spoilers. I came across this anime on Wikipedia in 2013 when I was searching for a new Magical girl anime. At the time, the magical girls genre was the only type of anime I wad interested in. It's thanks to this anime that I started to watch anime from other genres.
Story
It's about a boy name Daisuke who inherited a strange gene from his family. On his 14th birthday, he gained the ability to transform into a legendary phantom thief known as Dark Mousy. Daisuke only turns into Dark when he thinks about the girl he loves. If his love is returned, then he will return to normal. I really like the story.…

DN Angel is the first anime I have chosen to watch myself.
Funnily enough I knew only my mother tongue, so I was pretty much guessing what was happening in the anime (I still understood most of it, since the plot it quite easy) so I decided to rewatch episodes I am most found of to check if I nostalgia lenses aren't blinding me too much.
Story 7/10
As I said, the story is quite easy to follow and actually differs quite greatly to manga. The manga is still on-going since Sugisaki Yukiru have more Orphaned Series than completed ones, so the anime creators took liberty to go in the own direction. Is the story worse than manga? Yes, but it's true for many other anime.
How does it hold up then in general perspective then? It's a romantic comedy than anything else and it has rather stupid momen…

(Taken from the same review on Hummingbird.me by the same user, but changed to better fit MAL guidelines.)
D.N.Angel is a shoujo anime series, based off the manga by Yukiru Sugisaki. While this series isn't especially popular anymore, it was pretty popular in the 2000s, especially with young teenage girls. NO, WAIT, COME BACK! I'M NOT DONE YET!
I personally believe that just because a show has a...erm, vocal fangirl fanbase, does not automatically make it a bad show. In fact, most of these shows are pretty mediocre and harmless. Is D.N.Angel a mediocre shoujo franchise, an underrated masterpiece, or a piece of garbage that only the most impressionable of teenagers can enjoy? Let's break it down and find out.
Story
This series has a pretty interesting concept, and the story itself is pr…

D.N. Angel is quite the strange topic to talk about, really. There are so many things both wrong and right with this show that it kind of blurs the line between good and bad. I don't have anything else to say really, so lets get right on with it.
The first thing I will mention, and it is by far the biggest flaw this series has, is the narrative structure. D.N. Angel doesn't really have an overarching story, nor does it have an episodic storyline as it tends to jump between the two. The problem comes from the standalone episodes that have nothing to do with the main story or the main romance. I don't have a problem with episodic stories; I actually find them vast with wonderful stories and characters even with only 22 minutes or so. However, D.N. Angel fails to capitalize on this.

D.N Angel is one of my personal favorites. I own very few series, but this is one that I treasure. This is the story of young Daisuke Niwa and his counterpart Dark Mousy. Daisuke is a simple middle school student, and Dark is a thief. Daisuke has a crush on Risa Harada [a popular female at his school]. Every time Daisuke runs into Risa he begins to turn into Dark. Since they attend the same high school it becomes difficult for Daisuke to be himself and pursue his crush with the threat of turning into the phantom thief. In the evening, Daisuke turns into Dark and steals artwork in a variety of creative ways. Daisuke doesn't like stealing and resists Dark. The 'Phantom thief' always leaves a note before stealing a piece of artwork in hopes the police will appear and fail in capturing him. Sa…

Watch it before you read the manga.
Premise:
Guy, Daisuke transforms into Phantom thief Dark. Dark is different personality that lives in his head. Ladies man, very suave. Daiske is a nice dweeb, dreams of being like Dark. Can't stop transforming till girl likes him. In the mean time, he steals magic cursed art.
Opinion:
I liked, no loved this show before I read the manga. Daisuke is such a loser, Risa just tramples over him, and I could sympathize with that. A lot of guys can actually, despite it being about a bunch of bishounen who act ambiguously gay at times, this anime tends to appeal a lot to guys.
Me, I'm having a hard time recommending it. I remember loving this series. I own all the DVDs. The English voice actor commentary alone is worth it. I love the final episode where Satos…

This anime was recommended to me by a good friend of mine who watches old anime. He likes the old anime cause he's pretty old so even if he doesn't have a myanimelist account, he knows about D.N Angel and told me it was very good. I took it from him straightly cause we agree kids like anime too much and have the most biased opinion. I just watched the anime and it's a big step in the shoujo genre. Anime is time consumption that entertains kids, but D.N Angel works hard to be imagination. It probably is a girl's fantasy to meet Dark Mousy, but I love how it can also be a guy's fantasy to be Dark Mousy, the D.N Angel with 2 identities, day time Niwa Daisuke, night time Dark Mousy. Dark Mousy is a cool cat burglar that suits not just for girls, but and for guys so they can enjoy shoujo too. W…

Mixed bag and wasted potential are the major things flowing through my mind upon completion of DN Angel. Focused on Niwa, his alter ego Dark and their family of thieves, the series focuses on Niwa and Dark collaborating together in the theft of valuable artwork that is enchanted with various magical properties. The mystery of Dark's origins and the paintings were the major hook of this series for me as hints are dropped of who created them and a connection that one of Niwa's friends may have to them. The series does dabble into cliches and character archetypes related to shoujo and collect-them-all style titles, where the results tend to vary. Many of the major characters are fleshed out enough where there is more dimension to them than the archetype they are tacked on with and the series…

Story - 9 (Great) It Was Very Original. Including All The Lines. I Had Fun Watching This And I Was Very Excited To Know What's Next.
Art - 9 (Great) Like The Story, The Drawing Is Also Original. It Was Not Bad Actually. They Made Some Characters Good Looking And Very Fun.
Sound - 8 (Very Good) Well It Depends On What Player You Are Watching On But Some Of The Scenes' Sound Was Very Loud Or Soft, But It Was Still Understandable
Character - 8 (Very Good) I Loved Daisuke And Riku, They're Really Fun Characters Though I Didn't Much Enjoy Risa (No Offense). All Characters Have Their Own Personalities So I Quite Loved Them.
Enjoyment - This Anime Is Satisfying To Watch But There Might Be Some Things You Might Not Like Since Not All Anime Ends The Way You Want. But, You Will Be Interested To Know…

Honestly I don't recommend this anime because is was a let down. The synopsis of this anime made it seem like there was going to be action and excitement throughout the anime. At first the anime was great but then it quickly reached a point in which the excitement starts to decline rapidly. The episodes begin to start becoming like fillers and then story stops progressing for a while until the story rapidly starts progressing again but because of that the ending becomes a let down.

Way, way back in middle school, I read this manga. That was back when I snapped up every manga I could find, and adored phantom thieves (Kurama, and Tuxedo Kamen, and Saint Tail, oh my!). A friend gave me the box set of the anime for Christmas and I was so excited.
Until I watched it.
D.N.Angel can't decide if it wants to be an epic story of light vs. darkness or a show about a middle school love triangle. It starts out good enough with the phantom thief angle, but that turns into a completely different story about ancient magical rivals. Which would be fine except that the pacing is way off. Instead of the thief bit being the introduction to the magical rival bit, we get lots of episodes stretching out the first part and the latter being rushed and confusing.
For the sake of a middle s…

D.N.Angel is an anime that i can say is a classic, the story was very understanding and simple to follow. the main character is in love with Risa Harada, but when he is about to confess to her he is friend-zoned by her, and you know the rest if you read the Synopsis.
The Art was Great not only the character concept, but the art in the pictures, there is nothing bad i can say about the drawings.
The Sound isn't bad but some of the sound is annoying, but other than that it is very pleasing to the ears especially the background music.
The Characters are awesome i will explain all of them
Niwa Daisuke: Okay this character kinda surprised me. Here is my first reaction to this character, another cowardly main character. i was wrong, he was a shy character, but not cowardly. I liked how they m…
