Edens Zero

Introduction

All his life, Shiki has been surrounded by machines. At Granbell Kingdom, a long-abandoned amusement park, he is the only one of his kind around. That is, until Rebecca Bluegarden and her feline companion Happy arrive, unaware that they are Granbell's first visitors in one hundred years. Their goal is to make fun videos for their B-Cube channel, but what they find instead is a friend in the socially awkward Shiki. When Granbell becomes too dangerous for the three of them, they set off on an adventure through the Sakura Cosmos. They hope to make more interesting videos and even find the elusive goddess Mother, while Shiki wants to make more friends, spurred on by the words of his late grandfather. Of course, the journey will not be easy, as no one has seen Mother before, but Shiki is determined to reach his goal and explore the boundless reaches of space together with his new friends. Holy ass, like genuinely this anime is abysmal. From terrible pacing to the most bland, uninteresting, and sigh-inducing characters and writing. If it isn't just the most confusing plot points and info dumps imaginable, it's the mediocre robotic voice direction and shoe-horned fan service. Nearly every aspect of this show is coated with an irritating corny aftertaste, leaving the viewer with a migraine or fighting not to turn it off. Nothing I say is hyperbolic or an over exaggeration either; the factors leading to this show's downfall are all shown within the first episode alone. A plot sown together by silly-string, a power system that never gets a proper explanation to let it even make half amount of sense, eye-rolling fan service, terrible voice direction & line delivery, generic mai…

This show was definitely missed potential. It had a great setting, good music, endearing characters and themes, and incredible animation. However, the overall narrative was weak and failed to take advantage of its characters and settings. Edens Zero had a great cast with excellent potential, but they were not explored enough at all. The series jumped from location to location to host a bunch of good versus evil fights, and it often felt like this was the primary function of the narrative. These fights are entertaining with their awesome animation, but the characters were often poorly utilized and the show lacked thematic depth. Homura and Hermit were standout characters who the story utilized very well, but otherwise these endearing characters were left without proper exploration. The sett…

"EDENS ZERO" Genre- Adventure, Action, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Space, Shounen. What does it mean to have a heart? Does it mean to be human? Does it mean to be alive and kicking and if so then are these the only things that come with you having a heart? Where do emotions, feelings of fear/anxiety/anger/happiness and sadness stand? Who and when can we consider someone a being with a heart? And if having a heart means being human, what about those AI/androids that develop feelings? Are they merely just tools that are to be used and discarded or are they someone who can become so close to you that your own family feels unfamiliar to you? These are the foremost questions that strike you with each episode of this anime. While it has a super strong plot of Shiki going on a journey to make 100 friends…

Space One Piece starts off with a great premise but fails to deliver. The Main character Shiki is way too overpowered from the beginning and no one ever feels in danger. This anime could have been amazing but the writing is just Bad. The Bad guys are Bad because they are Bad guys and the good guys are good because they are good. One Piece has villains with motivations that make sense and directly conflict with the main characters. Few of the adventures feel like they actually move the plot along at all other than to introduce us to another new character to befriend because our Main character wants to make more Friends. I actually think they should have leaned in more to the fact that our protagonista Shiki just wants to make Friends. I think they could have benefited with showing is even…

Best Part about the show: Has One Piece vibes. Gather a crew, a ship, finding the One Piece, and a lot of small and big Bad guys. Do not judge the show by its first few episodes. I watched the first 2 episodes and left the series, when the second season was released I decided to give this series another try as I was looking for any shonen to watch. The show gradually gets better and more enjoyable, there are some cringe moments and fanservice is there but ignoring all that the show is good. I would suggest watching this when bored and cannot find anything top-rated. I know people are tired of hearing the comparison but as both shows are from the same Mangaka this has to happen. If you like Fairy Tale then you will like this show. FT starts strong and goes down a bit near the middle, this…

Too much fanservice. The characters are beautiful!! I lovr the voice acting as well but Rebecca is used as a sex tool most of the time. Her character could be developed deeply but half of the episode's time is wasted on friendship talk and weird body distorcions. I usually ignore thay sort of stuff but this is just too much to handle! Either way I really enjoyed the storylines. They're silly, sure, but that's the genre's concept. Besides, the characters are enjoyable and when they fall into a cliche they have more than that to themselves. Nice show. I love how Homura was developed. I hope the others are as well because even though they are steriotypical (and according to other reviews recycled) I really enjoy seeing them grow and become friends. The overuse of the word friends seems to be…

Edens Zero is very disappointing. Written by Hiro Mashima it channels many of his other works such as Fairy Tail and Rave. It provides an adequate adventure plot with the character stereotypes that Mashima is known for. There are many cameos throughout the series from his previous works and it is rather humorous to see their likenesses in a different work. This is where the good ends however. The level of animation is sub par, and ruins the overall enjoyment of the anime. Many fight scenes are cut into single frames, this is especially evident towards the later half of the series. The pacing is also horrendous. There are many scenes that are unimportant to the plot that have longer run-times than anything that is actually relevant. There is really no reason to watch this over reading the m…

I haven't seen Fairy Tale to draw comparisons, but to me this feels like "One Piece....in Spaaaaace!". What it does borrow it does well and in some places I think the show is better executed than One Piece. The first 25 episodes have been able to maintain decent pacing and have both kept my attention and interest. The OST has been decent, and I really liked the first OP. All in all, it's a pretty well executed show. I really enjoyed this, and look forward to future seasons. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long, though this being a Netflix exclusive in my area has me a bit worried. Time will tell, I suppose.

No Spoilers Looking at Edens Zero from a glance will usually garner one of two reactions. One: It’s Fairy Tail in SPACE!!! Two: Obligatory fanboyism or utter disgust at the mention of Fairy Tail or the artstyle. This is a certainty that no-one in the anime and manga community can reasonably avoid, and what does that mean for the series itself? Is it some sort of magnificent hidden diamond in the rough that only gets a bad rep because its author is the creator of one of the most divisive series in history? Is it just a flaming pile of complete sh%t that was left buning on your doorstep? Well the answer is a bit more complicated than just good or bad, and that all starts with your perception of Mashima’s work. What do you value in a good anime series? Faithfulness to the source material?…

I'd say the story is decently paced. I always go back for more and can't wait to see what happens in the next episode. Many different and interesting situations happens in this show, and you can feel the emotions behind the scenarios that happen to some characters. It really makes you care for the characters, and feel their pain, happiness, or emotions in general. Art: As for the art itself it's good. But you can tell the creator just kinda reused some fairy tail characters designs, and that's alright. Some people do that with anime. As for the animation like fight scenes, while it's good, it has yet to be as good as Fairy Tail, but that's understandable. Don't want to spend alot of the animation budget on just simple plot scenes. Could be saving it for later in the story. Characters: Ea…

I loved the series, the truth is that it is one of my new favorite series, although there are some things that I did not like, such as recycling the design of fairy tail characters and making them a mini modification or recolor to give them another name and say that they are other characters, or the excess of fanservice of the female protagonist or that they repeat to you every so often about friendship. The good thing would be the concept or theme of the plot which would be that they travel to other planets and in each of them they are extremely different and interesting and are well explored. a main character that was raised by robot machines, the power ups, settings and the context and role that each character occupies or that the secondary characters do contribute something and are n…

I was sceptical at first but it was actually way better than FT and I enjoyed this show very much. Why? It wasn't pretending to be something else, something more than an ecchi trash. It embranced what it was and that made it an enjoyable show for me. I normally hate ecchi anime, but this was actually fun (and stupid) as hell. The difference between FT and EZ for me was, that FT tried to be a battle shounen with serious fights and stuff. Dropping ecchi scenes more and more often as it progressed (for me that's a sign of desparate attention seeking, as if you're saying the anime is trash and needs 'something' to look at as a bonus because the anime is such a big trash it's not even interesting anymore or something :) ). EZ instead showed you from the start what it was - a silly show full of…

I gotta admit... I came for the fanservice, but I stayed for the rest. Hiro Mashima gets a lot of flack for writing the same story over and over again, with immense amounts of fanservice and perversion, with vapid characters that all look the same (looking at you Happy, Lucy, Natsu/HAPPY, Rebecca, Shiki, to name a few), and it's totally warranted. He does. He absolutely does. ...But at the end of the day, you know what they say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Absolutely, his story isn't for everyone. Definitely. But it is for me, and that's what I'm here to say. Mashima can write all the fanservice and weird power clashes/escalation he wants, I'm here for his sappy stories and one-liners about friendship and heart. |Minor Spoilers for the last 4-ish episodes| After some set up and…

I'm think the story needs to be taken more seriously. Mainly in the last arcs, I saw great potential to deal with those more "dark" stories with sadic villains, but there are some things that bother me and probably will cause troubles to the storytelling. When I said the story can be taken more seriously i meant that I think this can be done the same way as another Hiro Mashima manga, Fairy Tail. I remember the start is very simillar in terms of pacing, simpler arcs with little development and uncharismatic villains and characters, but when the anime start to introduce more misterious and deep characters like when the Laxus arc begins, more good stories and fights starts to happen. I hope the same will be done with Edens Zero in the second season. Also i didn't like the comedy, most of the…

Fairy Tail in space? Fairy Tail in space. Could he have at least come up with an original mascot character? At least it wasn't just Plue again. Okay that's out of the way, we can talk about the show on it's own merits now. It's just Fairy Tail in space. They didn't even get a new seiyuu for Erza. Alright for real this time. I'm really starting my review now. No more jokes about it just being Fairy Tail in space. I can't do it. There is literally nothing original to talk about with this show. I guess if it ain't broke, right? It's is completely devoid of even the slightest hint of originality. They took an already existing popular franchise, and put it in space. I feel like we've leaped back in time to the period in film history when it was a trope to make a sequel with the subtitle: In…

quick review without spoil ( English not my main language and not using google trad, I wish you good luck ) This anime is the typical animé you keep watching because the main plot is attractive, it give you hope it'll be better after and lot of scenarios surprises and story dev but it's better to not take it serious and for many reasons you can't have any emotion or care for the characters on screen because it's full of nonsenses. you know the hero will win somehow at the end, the scenario drama need a surprises it will always be absurd Also , It's hard to really love this anime because of endless stupidity of the main character. yes once again, the hero is so dumb it kill lot of the show interest OR he is under serious hard drug to be always ecstatic and so disconnected ... "Only Anime Can Save the Universe." From the weirdly genius and perverted mind of Hiro Mashima, the creator of two of my favourite manga Rave and Fairy Tail comes an adaption of his new work Edens Zero. Hiro has left the fantasy world of magic and has gone for a full-blown space opera odyssey filled to the brim with weird and wacky characters for everyone to enjoy/hate/get horny over. I was slightly worried when I learnt that J C Staff would be handling this adaptation. Their shows tend to be well-drawn and pretty but lack fluidity when in motion and considering the quality of some of their anime outputs in 2021 you can't blame me for my concern. Thankfully, although still choppy in some episodes the animation is overall pretty good. Most of the combat scenes felt good to watch and the…

Its good. It essentially has the exact same feel as Fairy Tail but enhanced where the fights are better, graphics are better, quality is higher all while still being the same. It's got a nice 2014 feel to it but with the technology of 2019 from what it feels like. Starts out slow and whatever but it gets better fast. lots of action, there is a lot of classic anime autism but its relatively easy to get over it. Definitely not a top anime contender but it doesn't need to be. It was enjoyable and fun to watch. If you got nothing else to do its definitely worth trying out.

It was going to be good and watchable show if not characters. If you are familiar with Fairy tail, or Mashima's early work, You already know that character's are literally same, I don't even mind using power of friendship, It doesn't make lot of sense but whatever, It clearly doesn't ruins a show. Story is not bad and interesting, and lore is fine too. Characters: This is a main problem of Mashima's works. He is reusing old character's and designs which makes me think that this guy is desperate. I'm ok with MC, because at least he is slightly redesigned... but others... same... i even saw Levy and her squad in first episode... this is major problem which makes me not watch this show. if not same characters, i would enjoy this show, but as of now i fell cringe and disappointment toward…

Honestly edens zero is such an underatted gem. People keeps on hating on it and refuse to watch it because they think its a fairytale rip-off and as you know fairytail isnt really good and got lots of haters. But believe me this really good! This is so good and way better than fairytail. Of course the characters looks almost the same as the characters from fairytail bc their from the same creator. The one who made edens zero is the same guy who made fairytail. Story: The series isnt really about "the power of friendship like fairytail" It isnt LOL. It takes place in more futuristic setting. In outer space! Overall i'd rate it an 8 its so good if you compare it to season 1 of fairytail in my opinion 😅 No hate to fairytail tho! Characters: Shiki the mc is like a combo of natsu and gray c…
