From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad's Been Reincarnated!

From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad's Been Reincarnated!

Introduction

Although Kenzaburou Tondabayashi is a 52-year-old bureaucrat, he is well versed in reincarnation stories where a protagonist suddenly awakens in a fantasy world. After being hit by a truck, Kenzaburou lands in that exact situation. However, what baffles him is the fact he wound up in the world of an otome game—as the young villainess and the daughter of a duke, Grace Auvergne. Fortunately for Kenzaburou, he is somewhat familiar with his new world, as it is based on the game called Magical Academy: Love & Beast. He was a proud father in his previous life, and he often listened to his daughter rave about the game's setting and characters. Armed with background knowledge and a lifetime's worth of dad skills, Kenzaburou strives to make the most of his new life, though his kind-hearted nature makes it difficult to fully embrace the role of a villainess. Bureaucrat to Villainess is a cute show that just doesn’t end up going anywhere. It seems deeply uninterested in answering the questions it poses. It doesn't deliver as a gender bender, romance, or an isekai and ends up being content to spend its run time as a sort of mild mannered slice of life. It’s a show that keeps better ideas and concepts tantalizingly close but always chooses to settle for less. The concept is fun, and it’s a rare treat to have such a fatherly protagonist but my praise really ends when we move from premise to execution. The character design, pacing, and writing are all very middling. Tondabayashi doesn’t seem to feel any sort of way about his new circumstances and neither does the writing staff. This whole production reeks of unfinished source material, reducing i…

I can’t wait for a second season or to keep reading the manga of From Bureaucrat to Villainess. Honestly, I’m not a big fan of isekai, and it’s true that the story is not particularly innovative, but it is still entertaining. At the beginning, I felt a bit uneasy about the idea of an adult man reincarnating into the body of a fifteen-year-old girl. However, what’s interesting is that the story never goes in uncomfortable or strange directions; instead, the protagonist keeps a kind of paternal approach, without turning anything inappropriate or off-putting. That, for me, makes it much easier to watch. There wasn’t a single episode that made me feel uncomfortable. It’s a very chill anime. If someone is looking for action or romance, this is definitely not the place. Everything here is light…

This is beautiful. An otaku dad being an otaku dad in the world he was isekai'd into? CUTE. I love otome game/villainess stuff, but it often gets boring for me, and I end up not finishing them. But this? This one I finished in 2 days. I binged it because it was so cute and funny. It deviates from the norm: the dad doesn't forget his roots, and not to mention, we actually get to see his REAL family, and they're a relevant part of the story. I love that! +19932729 points because it was an old man in a 15-year-old girl's body, but there was not a SINGLE creepy thing said. The main character didn't sexualize the body he was in, nor did he sexualize anyone around him. no ecchi, not even an inkling. i love that so much. NEED MOREEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I did watch the first couple of episodes when this first started airing and thought it might be decent, but then got too engrossed in that season's servings of typical isekai and fantasy slop, so never finished this one until now. I'm glad I did in all honesty. Despite my apparent hunger for anything isekai, the otome game sub-genre of stories are not what I typically watch, unless they deviate from the norm. Safe to say this one does, and turns the typical premise on its head. Here we have a middle-aged otaku salaryman getting reincarnated (somewhat) into the body of the villainess of the otome game his daughter was playing at the time. Although our MC wants to fulfil his role as the villainess, his parental instincts, alongside his pleasant demeanour, end-up derailing that completely…

From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad’s Been Reincarnated marks the TV directorial debut of veteran animator Tetsuya Takeuchi, and his experience is constantly on display with how consistently competent this production is. While it’s rarely very explosive or eye-catching, it has a solid grasp of the basics that are unfortunately missing from a lot of anime these days, which then allows him to add his signature character acting flourishes on top to make for tons of very brief, yet very lively cuts that add much needed energy to an otherwise fairly plain aesthetic. Centering the villainess isekai template around a 50-something Japanese dad who’s pretty content with his life gives this scenario a fresh perspective with how wholesome he is, as his attempts at being the villainess coming off more…

We All Need A Dad, But In The Right Package From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad's Been Reincarnated! is a show that teaches us that all we really want is a good dad, a dad who thinks of our feelings, wants the best from us, and has elegant way of talking, but he just needs to be in the right package. It's a fun little story, we see from a different perspective than we used to, and see this 52 man absolutely turning everybody's head, so they become pink, it is fun. The show is certainly not a looker, and the animation is really stiff, but it doesn't look like, it was one of those shows that were thrown a lot of resources. It's full of references and feel like nerdy entertainment. It's Otaku media made too Otaku. And sometimes that just all you need.

Unpretentious Reviews From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad's Been Reincarnated! is a surprisingly charming and innovative take on the "reincarnated into an Otome game" scenario. I really liked the wholesome dynamic of the MC's family. They're all otaku and they get each other. The dad, who at first consideration, would be the WORST possible person to play a young teen in an all girls academy, actually crushes it with his life experience and parenting skills, despite knowing very little of the actual game plot. It plays out similarly to many of the anime with this scenario plays out, where the MC's inadvertent high charisma distorts the plot. It's a low stakes, kind-hearted anime, and I appreciate that. The OP and ED are entertaining to watch a couple times, but I didn't find the music ca…

Another isekai with a "twist", but this time it's an actual twist that feels fresh! As unbelievable as that sounds, Akuyaku Reijou Tensei Ojisan really managed to be something new and unique. Going into details would require bigger spoilers that I'm willing to use here, so you will just have to take my word for it. Anyway, uniqueness is one thing, but simply being different doesn't make anime good. Luckily for us, this one has another strength: great protagonist. Kenzaburou might not seem like anything special, but that's what makes him so fun to watch - between his adult experience, dad vibes and otaku expertise, he interacts with game's world in very interesting, fun and, again, unique ways. Then there is his (real) family that also adds quite a bit to enjoyment, especially when they st…

Eh, I wanted to like this. It had a few interesting moments, but it's mostly just the protagonist not being evil, and everyone liking them. The characters feel a bit too safe/dull. It didn't really make me laugh, just entertained me mildly. I guess I don't have much else to say here. There wasn't really any fanservice, which was nice. The plot seemed to go through the random tropes, and even though it seemed to do it tongue in cheek, it still did it. It does a lot of explaining of things that kinda drag on. It's okay for a backgorund show, but not something I'd recommend unless you ran out of some of the better villainess shows.

What a splendidly imaginative and fun take on a familiar trope!!!!!! This story centers around, Kenzaburou, who is "reincarnated" into his daughter's otome game as the villainess character, Grace. However, all the isekai plot devices that typically proceed in those stories are completely reinvented in this one. It is really so refreshing how original it is! Furthermore, the protagonist - Kenzaburou/Grace - is so endearing and likeable...and one of the biggest reasons for that is that unlike all the other iseki animes where it's a young person being reincarnated...he is an older man. And even more than that, he is a father. That alteration makes for truly sweet storytelling that wouldn't have been possible otherwise. I am ITCHING to find out what happens next, and am eagerly waiting f…

This show has so much going for it, even with this first season, that I am hooked and waiting for the next eagerly. I am not sure how long it has been since I have experienced an anime where I was so invested in the entire ordeal. If you can take one thing away from this, let it be that the villainess trope / Isekai might be saturated, but that deosn't discredit a show on its own. This show is a wonderful tease at what is to come for this series in the future, assuming the anime gets continued. Throughout this season, we learn some interesting plot twists beyond the standard Isekai fair. I will leave these revalations to the viewer to discover, but they occur multiple times throughout the season, and really reframe this show as a more intriguing puzzle with an interesting question than ot…

i dont recommend it too much. the comedy is very elegant, and the story is a bit unsatisfying for an isekai anime that people say is good. i thought the story of the MC would become overpowered and surprise everyone with his power, but it turns out his ability is only limited to how to socialize, this is a bit disappointing. the character design of the MC is also not sweet, and seems less feminine ... especially when the MC gets the power of a dragon, his attacks are ordinary, i thought his attacks would be so great that they would destroy the school building behind him. for the romantic story, there is none ... i am not impressed with the romantic scenes or love stories in this anime. so far the only thing that can entertain me is the comedy about misunderstandings. from me, i give a scor…

Wow everything was so very good executed, really like it to be honest. The animation was absolutely really really good one, definitely love it. Frame by frame, the details, everything was so balanced when comes to comedy and getting serious, perfectly executed !!! Compared to other Isekai anime especially kind of these otome genre this anime was really worth to watch. The story was nice, the jokes, the characters, etc is one of top tier level. Animation overall 9.9/10 Visuals not catchy enough but still good 6/10 Music BGM, Opening & Ending 8/10 Story overall 9/10 I don't want to writing too much because I just want to show and share my feeling, yeah at the end of the words it's really good anime.

Isekai genre has been one of the most used genre for most animes nowadays, and most series produced are mediocre. Especially when romance is it's genre partner. Fortunately, this isekai otome game series was on point on being unique, with our isekai Father here. A series that has simple but fun and cute dynamics was nice to binge watch in one sitting. The characters were not that unique as most isekai otome series have 'crown-prince' 'main fl' and rest of the male characteres' roles, and having a student council was a common occurence. But despite having common factors with most series on the same genre, this series was able to make itself enjoyable. Such a refreshing series to watch! not too heavy to intake and just right cup of tea for anyone who's looking for a show they can watch wh…

In so many isekai I literally cannot keep up this one drew my attention, it is silly. It is in fact so silly it is hard to recommend to someone not familiar with the genre. But!!! What it does have going for it is so much heart! You can't turn away from the character antics and how fresh it feels to have a dad come in and look at the teen drama and be like 'no'. It is also animated beautifully? Being full of little character acting moments when a comedy like this usually doesn't get this level of polish. If you've watched a few isekais before I really recommend this one, it is higher on the weeb scale in that it is not the best rec for someone who has only seen a few anime, this is by geek for geeks here.

These villainess shows tend to run a few different routes, and usually be defined by the strength of their gimmick. In this case, the reincarnated villainess being an aged otaku bureaucrat makes for a fantastic gimmick, and they are absolutely delightful. Seeing both how he reacts to this delightful, if generic fantasy world, as well as how it translates through his new form is fantastic. The side cast is fine. The heroine of the game is probably the standout of the side cast, with pretty much everyone else feeling exceedingly tropey, or verging on background haracters. Honestly, the mystery of his existing within the game world and how it reflects in the real world is what had me coming back, but the season ends on a cliffhanger. We’ll see if the show has enough staying power in a possi…

An isekai where an old man, which is somewhat knowledgeable with the anime world, but still a normal father that acts normal, which works an office job, gets isekaied into an otome game that his daughter was playing, in the villainess's role. This was a really nice surprise! It is an unique villainess isekai! And I am not talking about the fact that the MC is a 52 y old office worker. Cannot say what the unique take is as I think it would be a spoiler, but trust me, I think you will find it interesting as well. The only problem is that it wasn't that worked on in this season... at least not as much as I wanted. But in the next season (which hopefully will come), it will play an even bigger part, I can bet on that. The plot is pretty simple: magical academy of the nobility in a kingdom wh…

tl;dr A refreshing take on the villainess genre. It mixes the typical "reincarnated into an otome game" trope with the outside perspective of a middle-aged dad and otaku, which brings a new kind of charm and comedy. While the animation, art, and OST are only slightly above average, the show stays consistently good from start to finish. Don't expect anything amazing, but it's definitely fun and worth checking out if you’re into the genre. If you are curious but not into the genre, watch up to episode 4. If you are not enjoying it by then, drop it. The rest of the show stays the same. ---The review--- The moment I saw the announcement for this anime, I was genuinely hyped. Finally something different from the flood of Isekais and the repetitive "Reincarnated as a Villainess" setups that alw…

i recommend this villainness isekai usually go from normal girl to villain girl but this one is from dad to villain girl which is the twist already, every time he do something to make him bad opposite will happen, villain and supposed to be mc in the game are either besties or teacher/pupil relationship, story was school and good vibes only honestly so theres nothing much to remarks, the mystery is good in my opinion but still lacking specially with the villain's mother and supposed to be mc's mother too i guess thats just how mystery works, if theres season 2 i guess they will reveal it including how dad got reincarnate into the game, and how his daughter and his wife can see what his doing in tv and can help him outside the game, hoping for some villain romance but dad makes it everyone…

(Completed series in roughly a week) I almost feel like the best way I can describe this anime is "fan service for middle aged people." I'm close to 48, my wife is roughly the same age. We both loved it. I'm not the most experienced anime watcher on this site, but at this point I'm at around 4,000 episodes total across various genres. My wife's probably at around 4,500. I don't think I've ever identified with a character in an anime as much as I did with Kenzaburo Tondabayashi, the MC. His character is a couple of years older than we are, had a normal job before he was transported into the video game, is all around a good guy and a good father. But beyond that, when he's sent into the body of a teenage girl, rather than doing what it seems every other anime does, he isn't a perverted h…
