I'll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History

Introduction

The kind and compassionate heroine of an otome game may be as flawless as she is admirable, but a certain young woman from Japan much prefers the villainess, Alicia Williams. She sees sense in Alicia's ruthless verbal abuse and values her discipline and fortitude. On the other hand, aside from always toying with Prince Duke Seeker's emotions, the commoner heroine seems to only spout lip service. Given the choice, the young woman would love to be reincarnated as Alicia—and her wish suddenly comes true! Seven-year-old Alicia awakens with the memories of her past life, now aware of all the future events, outcomes, and the world's secrets. She has no fear; to outsmart the heroine and avoid a bad ending, all Alicia needs is hard work, mastery of her noble family's dark magic, and the determination to become the greatest villainess in history. Loveddd this anime! Alicia is such a strong Fmc. She's bold, headstrong and although she doesn't acknowledge it, she's also very kind and compassionate. The plot was so good, it mostly focuses on politics, magic system and self improvement rather than romance. The arguments about politics and issues between her and the saint is so well written. Love when romance is the subplot and not the main focus in this genre. The dynamic between her and Duke is great. He understands and supports her throughout! No reverse harem, No siscon. That's definitely a plus! Loved all the side characters, they're well written. I adore Jill, he's my precious baby!! Really hope they give us a season 2 since I don't read LNs

It has, at the very least, an enjoyable first episode where we see Alicia as a child deciding to become the villainess. If you dont want to see more, coolio, you still got an enjoyable episode or two of anime. I love this villainess! i just wish we couldve seen more scenes of her actually being one, because the scenes were she was were lovely! I cant believe im saying this, but too much plot! Usually i want more plot because the characters are bad, nope! Not enough character interaction! More interaction with Alicia and the harem boys! Her brothers!! More prince interaction because the romance surprisingly didnt want to make me hurl! More Alicia and protag interaction!! Theyre funny! The twist with the “protagonist” will stick with me for a while. The scene where she misunderstands Alici…

I'm actually impressed with how the story goes; at first it didn't look like it would follow the proposal, but it did... in a different but still pretty cool way. I absolutely love the protagonist and the way she acts; she's a great character. I love the political aspects, and the drama with the heroine was so original and interesting to see. It genuinely has interesting plots, peak scenes and it's very fun to watch overall. Other points (and negative ones): - She and her love interest have a 5-year age gap, and it's really weird and uncomfortable to watch when they were children. When Alicia grows up, it "stopped looking so bad" (it's still pretty bad, of course), but it also leaves this feeling that now she doesn't look/act her age. It also feels very extra that she's randomly younger t…

I'm typically not a fan of the "villainess" style stories, but this one was a pretty fun watch. It takes a lot for me to actually binge a show in 2-3 days, but this one hit the mark for me. The main character Alicia is very likeable and relatable, and the general story is easy to follow and has some unique beats. I wouldn't say this is the best show, or even the best "villainess" show, but it's still worth watching if you love romcom anime! I'd say others are harshly judging it because of the typical romcom issues, but personally I find a lot of those things charming. The main character is funny and has a unique way of viewing herself, so even if the story hits some predictable moments, the way she reacts is always fun to watch. It's a pretty good show, easy to watch and has a feel good m…

I think that in a market where there is a bit of an oversaturation of "otome player reincarnated as villain with bad fate but resists yet doesn't ever realize they have escaped being a villainess", this anime is such a breath of fresh air, especially Alicia as a character. Instead of avoiding being a villainess, she actively strives towards it. By no means is it the holy grail of anime, but it was very enjoyable and the plot was more interesting than i would have thought. Altogether, i think it's worth a try even if you're burned out on otome game villainess reincarnations.

She wants to be a baddie but in reality she's got a heart of gold. I have re-watched this anime so many times and I never get tired of it, Alicia is such a perfect FL, she thinks of herself as a really intimidating bad girl when in reality she is super cute and sweet. She is always up to something and will take you by surprise with what she puts her mind to. Her relationship with the ML puts these two at one of my top favorite couples. Prince Duke is just *chef's kiss* - he is an extremely capable ML who is just always two steps ahead of everyone else (except Alicia who keeps him on his toes). One of the things I love about him is how he views Alicia, he knows her goals and aspirations and is willing to protect her and do whatever it takes to get her closer to where she wants to go. I…

I'm new to villainess anime, and it seems like I should watch more of these. The protagonist Alicia is hardworking and upbeat, which does a lot to make this an enjoyable watch. It's a far cry from the usual mopey anime protag that's typically either whiney and unconfident, shouty and annoying, or (if you're lucky) completely bland. The premise is that Alicia wants to become the "best" villainess which involves working hard and taunting the ostensible hero. In practice though, a lot of the story revolves around breaking the usual prophecies involving both the hero and the villain. In other words, her actions inadvertently subvert tropes as she tries to play up her act. This ends up halfway mindbreaking the hero and gonking out some of the supporting cast as the story tries to reassert i…

The only reason to watch this series is if you have some certain attachment to reincarnating into Otome games as the villainess or Himederes when they laugh. I happen to have such a condition, so this review will be rating it in comparison to series of the same nature. If you do not care for this genre there is no reason to watch it. The "RealPolitik" present functions better in Tanya, LoGH, or Code Geass. Medieval fantasy with haughty women trying to teach you moral lessons/political ones are better in spice and wolf. And if you purely want Otome Villainesses then watch Lvl99 villainess (atleast then you'll get a satisfying ending) or read "Chounin A wa Akuyaku Reijou wo Doushitemo Sukuitai" WHY DOES IT FAIL: What successfully drives these types of shows is an overarching plot that culm…

We finally have a villainess character that is obsessed with being the villain. She isn't really tho, since she behaves in ways a heroine would, just with a filthy tongue. We don't really get a background on why she wants this so much; it's just that she admires the character she reincarnated into, but the way she twists it to be an upright and honorable villain is cute and entertaining. I really like the way her efforts are portrayed; things aren't instant, and she studies, trains, and thinks about every step she takes, just like the great villainess she wants to become. Considering this same thing, not everyone loves her just because she is the main character (in our perspective). The male characters are interested in who they were supposed to be, and don't treat her nicely just cause…

Truly a good “Villainess” isekai, where she actually wants to be a villain, that already makes it a little unique. They even critique the plot armor and naivety of the usual otome protagonist. Story is funny, with cute characters, plot twists, character growth and if you don’t think too much about the ages it can be a cute romance. It is very novel-like that we can see some episodes where they are growing up, the time skips feel earned and everything progress quickly, its a good storytelling. Instead of flashbacks we can see the protagonist actually grow up. Too bad the art is inconsistent and you can tell they it has a low budget or were rushed, if you enjoy otome isekai this is a breath of fresh air. Hope they make a S2!

“I’ll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History” is what happens when you have an interesting idea but have no idea how to execute it. Cambridge Dictionary’s definition of the word “Villain” is: 1. A bad person who harms other people or breaks the law 2. A criminal 3. a character in a book, play, film, etc. who harms other people 4. Something or someone considered harmful or dangerous Obviously, none of those apply to Alicia — The MC — (and to be totally honest most of the “villainesses” in those types of shows from the last few years). She does harm people but only in self defense (I am not counting hurting their feelings, that would be idiotic) and never does any sort of irrecoverable or long lasting harm. She doesn’t break the law in any meaningful way. She does break a lot of rules…

The amount of twists and turns that existed in this anime was INSANE. Thoughout the whole time I was watching it I was on the edge of my seat! Definitely this is a must watch in my book. At first I thought it was just a run of the mill anime about some villain trying to be evil but wow did I not expect the real truth to it. I will probably not watch a S2 if that comes out because I feel as though the thought of this anime might be tainted from doing so. The last episode is a little confusing but holy shit is this a good anime. TLDR; This is a must watch if you are into mysteries, romance, and a sprinkle of Isekai.

✒ 🔲The Villainy of Independent Thinking and the Subversion of Kindness🔳 °minor spoilers only° °6.6° 💦 °good° 💯%🔍 some minor spoilers She always liked the Villainess more. The heroine is dopey. She's phony. SHE'S BORING! And she does NOT deserve the prince. Now that Alicia is reincarnated into her favorite otome game as the strong, smart, capable MEAN girl, she'll go down in history. She's got big plans for a little girl: She's 7. There's lots of time to get strong: Swords, Magic (green, light, fire, wind, water), general learning… she's gonna learn it all. She's absolutely gonna go down in history! For a first published work, this is pretty good. Hoshi Akari & Ookido Izumi did a nice job. Sure, I didn't give it a top rating, but there are plenty of solid elements to complement t…

The animation in this anime is decent, but that's probably its only real strength. Everything else is pretty disappointing. Watching an adult woman behave like a child pretending to be a pirate is just awkward. In a world where monarchs can execute even their own people, the main character suddenly decides to turn everyone against her just for fun. There's hardly any logic behind her actions. The plot is hard to take seriously. It's disjointed, and many scenes feel absurd and poorly directed. The character's behavior is usually explained by some kind of magic she supposedly can't control, and the entire story leans on that. It feels like the author wanted to do something original and tried to stick to a plan, but the plan clearly doesn't work. The whole point of the anime seems to be sho…

This show was an alright one. The plot points and characters would make it about a 7 for me, however there are some aspects that brought it down to a super average show for me. First, the prince is a bit of a creep. He's extremely forward with the MC even when they're really young and that weirded me out a bit. But I guess that's the girl's romance side of it that I can't understand. Second is the poor animation at times. It's very noticeable that the budget wasn't super high for it, but these shojo shows rarely have much of one, so I shouldn't expect too much. The third is the use of CGI when it wasn't needed. The quality of the animation was already not great. I would have rather they just poorly animated horses and carriages and things rather than just shoving in a 3d model. All…

I’ll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History is a series that is equal parts fascinating and frustrating. This latest entry into the burgeoning villainess isekai genre gives us a protagonist, Alicia, who’s actually glad she became the villainess because it allows her to address her qualms with the game’s heroine and dismantle what she sees as undeserved talk-no-jutsu-style powers of communication, and it made Alicia a shockingly compelling villainess. Unfortunately, this ends up getting balanced out by Alicia receiving what are essentially super studying abilities and becoming extremely overpowered very quickly, constantly doing things that would normally merit major consequences but walking away mostly scot-free, so it rarely feels like she has to put in any effort to get what she wa…

An otome anime where the FMC actually tries to be the villainess she got isekaied as... or does she? Even she questions the correct path to becomes a villainess, so how can someone follow a path that they don't even understand correctly? If the "villainess" part is just standing up for yourself and calling bs when you see bs, and being more bold than usual with your approach, not sugar coating stuff, then ig quite a few people are in the "villainess" category... This felt more like watching her finding the definition of what kind of villainess she wants to become and trying to stick to it the best she can, always calling herself as one... Ig I was thinking a bit too much while watching this anime, so maybe that's why I found it pretty boring and uninteresting in terms of almost everythi…

Binged this show in one day. To preface, I am a girl who loves anime like Skip Beat, Lovely Complex, and Yona of the Dawn. I definitely recommend this show for anyone with similar tastes! I feel like modern shoujo anime (especially villainess ones) have a problem with being too on the nose though but this show was just unpredictable enough for me to keep watching. Also, the romance did have me giggling and kicking my feet a bit. The main character is great as well and comes off as very logical. There was not any frustrating parts. Reasons as to why its a 9/10 and not 10/10 is because the art style is nothing special and I wasn't moved to tears by anything but it was still an interesting and fun watch!

This is a good series let down by a final episode, which, without spoiling anything, only existed as a setup for a potential second season, and actually would have been better served as the first episode for said second season so season 1 could have a complete and clean ending. As the last episode only exists to get you watching Season 2, I will base the contents of this review on only the first 12 episodes To sum it up this series is best described as Tsundere The Anime, if you've been watching what should now be called the 'Villainess anime genre' this offers nothing new, there are no surprises and many events within the story are predictable So why would I recommend it? Easy, because if you are a fan of the genre you will enjoy this, it actually works and avoids many of the traps oth…

Summary: This is a Good Villainess Show There are a few villainess anime that are enjoyable and not just use "The Villain" as a plot device. First of all, the main character consistently keeps her role as the antagonist (she’s the opposite of the protagonist). I know this should be a common element, but many shows of this type only maintain the "villainess behavior" up to a certain point. However, this show doesn’t do that. The second thing is that the show keeps its mystery until the very end. It gives us an uncomfortable feeling, which works well for this type of story. However, this is also one of the show's weaknesses. There are only a few things that need to be resolved, and the execution feels somewhat lacking. Additionally, there are some questionable decisions made by the prince.…
