Heavenly Delusion

Heavenly Delusion

Introduction

Fifteen years ago, disaster struck human civilization, and now dangerous man-eating monsters roam the ravaged lands, posing an existential threat to the remaining survivors. Amid this turmoil, an isolated facility shelters children and nurtures them in peace. However, as a few among them find out about the world beyond the narrow periphery of their nursery's walls, their curiosity about it slowly grows. Meanwhile, in the outside world, young survivors Maru and Kiruko band together to search for a special place called Heaven, each for their own reasons. Carrying past burdens and tragic secrets, the two hope to find answers to the cruelty they have experienced in their lives and in the world, which still remains in tatters. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Skip it. Its a very very good story, but the anime doesnt explain most of the important things, it leaves out almost everything thats important. I would strongly recommend not to waste your time with the anime and go straight to the manga for a better explained story and better character development. The problem is not the plot, but the adaptation. There's not much mistery to it, they just decided to not explain anything. The story moves in two separate timelines that compliment each other but neither of them will give you any closure. Im only rating 6 bc i know the storyline is really good, even with everything that's missing. The animation is good. The drawings are good. Music is not the best but at least its not ruined. Op and End songs are good.

Ahhh, okay, let's get into it. I don't like writing reviews, but with this one, it's going to be unavoidable. The best way I can describe Tengoku Daimakyou is "Seinenslop." Yes, there are plenty of good things I could say about this anime, the most notable being the animation, but honestly? I'm not going to bother praising this abomination. It's the same shit you've seen in countless "mature" and "deep" seinen. Like, "Oh, you thought this character was happy and content? Haha, I tricked you! They're actually DEAD! Muahahah!" That's the level of stupidity the entire anime operates on. The only exceptions are the "Immortal Order" arc, which follows the same cliché but is more interesting than the rest, and the scenes with the children trapped in that institution whose name I forgot, which…

Having both watched the anime adaptation and read the manga, I can safely say that Heavenly Delusion is one of the most brilliant, engaging, and genuinely well-crafted stories I’ve experienced in years. If you are a fan of post-apocalyptic settings and love stories that treat your intelligence with respect, this is an absolute must-watch. What makes this show a standout masterpiece is the overwhelming sense of mystery that drives the entire narrative. The dual-storyline structure—following Maru and Kiruko through a beautifully ruined, dangerous wasteland while simultaneously exploring the eerie, sterile facility surrounded by high walls—creates a perfect narrative tension. Every single episode drops clues without hand-holding, making you actively puzzle together what happened to the world…

For those who think this is a great mystery anime, it's not, it's just a sexual assaulting bullshit that is combined with 2 story that looks like they are going on same time but they are not, if you don't want to homework by knowing what happened and what not then please don't watch this anime because the final epsiode sucks, both sexually abusing a girl and trying to built a connection between 2 stories but fails hard who watches it for casual timepass. Spoiler: robin is the one put haruki's brain into kiriko and now he has to live a life a different person than both and they somehow tried to connect the story by establishing that the children from the heaven escaped and now are the past self of usami and his dead lover but fails hardly, you have to nerd for that or read manga and for m…

The only reason this isnt blowing up is because disney bought the right to air it exclusivity. It has depth, authenticity, character, everything. Its interesting and beautiful and suspenseful! I am truly saddened this went under my radar and so many elses. Disney has no right to use their billions of dollars to deprive the anime community of gems like this. The story was unique and creative and always left me wondering what was going to be revealed next. The personalities between characters is realistic and unique. Slice of life genre can be thrown on top! It is good. The art style is so consistent that its emerssive like AOT.

Heavenly delusion is exactly what all the Youtube videos say it is: a damn good show that flew under the radar. It is an insanely good adventure show; this is due to many things. Setting and world building? One of a kind. Main characters? An amazing duo. Most importantly though is the way this show handles its mystery subplot. This show rarely explicitly tells you anything; it's up to you to figure things out and notice stuff in the moment. If you don't catch it, they will explain it eventually, but not many shows give you the gratifying experience of seeing things before they happen. This show has a lot of nuance, clever storytelling, and just overall uniqueness that you can't find in any other show. Its critical flaw is the best flaw a show can have which is that it leaves the audience…

A really good season 1. The animations is really great and have different vibes. The relationship between the two main characters is cool. This show got a lot of emotions (laugh, tears, compassion) ! I recommend to watch because it’s very well done, sometimes funny, sometimes deep, sometimes just beautiful. I saw people saying there are too many filler episodes but to me it wasn’t. They build a big story and we get attached to characters. I cannot disagree about the fact there are so many questions with only few answers.. maybe in season 2 I hope ! That’s why small stories in the middle of the season that slow down the main plot is a bit frustrating I guess. The only point for me is that they are some heavy and deep subjects that are not full developed, I expect a bit more on some poin…

The first thing I'd tell anyone is that Heavenly Delusion is definitely not for everyone. It has several scenes that can make you genuinely uncomfortable, touches on some taboo subjects, and there were moments where I was honestly glad I was watching alone with earphones. But none of it felt like shock value. Even the most disturbing moments eventually felt like pieces of a much bigger puzzle. What impressed me the most was how much trust the series puts in its audience. It almost never pauses to explain itself. Instead, it quietly drops clues in conversations, background details, expressions, and even scenes that seem completely ordinary at first. More than once I caught myself thinking, "Wait... did they already tell us the answer?" I even went back and watched a few episodes again beca…

Tengoku Daimakyou (Heavenly Delusion) is one of THE best newer anime out now, instantly hooking me! The art direction was phenomenal, you can tell very much from the first episode alone that a lot of heart was put into making this series the best it could be. Every scene felt integral to its world-building, leaving nothing feeling dragged on or misplaced. It has such a beautiful and somewhat melancholy atmosphere to it, having its own rendition of what a broken-down Japan would actually look like, including real locations and buildings to its setting. Its dual narrative makes the series even more unique and engaging in its storytelling. Having the viewer look at details between 'Heaven' and the outside to puzzle together what might have happened for the world to have been filled with "M…

It has very interesting characters and the chemistry between the main characters is very fun to watch. Very interesting world and good world building. Very very weird fan service to the point it's hard to watch some scenes. It has very good plot development and on my first watch I was fully engraved into the world. Don't recommend if your into alot of action it does have good action but it's not the priority at all it's a adventure with two very interesting characters. Also the art and animation are incredible with very chill music crazy good opening too.

Well it's definitely a 10/10 perfect anime with no flaws. Though some people complaining about how scared they were or how they somehow expected to watch a light-hearted show which is described as dystopian and the trailers clearly show gore, can be ignored as they formed on emotional satisfaction of their desire to insert their opinions and propaganda. If you like 10/10 story telling, animations, character writing, mystery, direction, comedy and don't mind some upsetting, slightly gory(not literally visual) events then you should definitely watch it till the end. But it should be avoided by kids who can't handle proper storytelling and just be emotional about everything in the story(in their imagination) and just rate it bad cause somehow they felt uncomfortable about something completely…

The ending could have been handled better. In fact, this entire anime could have been handled better. This show had so much potential to be peak, but a lot of its serious moments kept getting marred by unecessary comic relief and gooner scenes. The title "Heavenly Delusion" is fitting because the show is split into two stories: one where the MCs travel in search for "heaven," and one where a group of children believe they're living a normal life. It's basically a mix between the The Last of Us and The Promised Neverland. Parts of the episodes focus on Kiruko and Maru's journey across post-apocalyptic Japan; but instead of fighting zombies, they fight these alien-like creatures known as "Man-Eaters." The second half focuses on this isolated facility that houses extremely gifted children. It…

Tengoku Daimakyou is a work written with pinpoint precision. Its really surprising how at first you don't understand anything, but as you rewind through small and important details, each point begins to connect and make sense with all the other events that seemed sporadic, scattered, and unconnected Its one of those anime where you need to pay close attention from beginning to end, as that's the only way to half understand the complexity of things, but you need to read at least a few chapters of the manga to see it from outside the box Both the main and secondary characters are very important pieces that develop greatly as they understand their mission and purpose in life. The atmosphere is glorious, the soundtrack fits each scene perfectly, the opening and ending give some hints, the se…

Tengoku Daimakyou is an extremely well-crafted anime. Its story is intriguing, filled with mystery and solid character development. It’s far from a monotonous work and actually feels like a mix of several other series, in a good way. The main characters are genuinely captivating — which is rare for anime of this genre. While watching, you can clearly notice the stark contrast between different realities in a world overrun by inexplicable creatures. I really hope they release a continuation, because I’m excited to see more. If you're unsure about watching it, the series is absolutely worth it and makes good use of your time, balancing humor and comedy with action. I’d give it 10 stars if it had a continuation.

Definitely a hidden gem among all the newgen anime/manga. It's been on my plan to watch since 2023 and I've finally seen it. The OP is the first incredible thing I noticed. Beautiful song and great art and animation for it too, especially once you finish the show. Premise is very interesting and story is unique, setting is great and characters are good. Animation is fantastic, I'm glad this show got the production it did, it's fully deserved. Music is alright, fits the atmosphere but there's 1 soundtrack that really stood out to me in 1 specific scene. The only thing some people could say is "bad" in this show is too much mystery stacking and stacking on top of the previous mysteries, but I guess the pay off is gonna be much more rewarding that way when the reveals come. Really loved t…

It's hard for me to put into words why I like this, but as it stands - having only Season 1 to go by - it feels like a central mystery that's compelling all the way through. Post-Apocalypse media has the tendency to do the very played out "humans are the monsters, actually" Spiel a lot, and while this is true for Heavenly Delusion, it's not it's focal point. It's more occupied with chasing the abstract concept of "closure", and how it affects it's characters trying to reach that goal. Definitely on my radar, I want to see this through, even if the post credits hint in the last episode kinda foreshadows a twist I'm not really fond of. We'll see.

[This is a spoilerless review] The premise of Heavenly Delusion is finding heaven in a hellish world of nighmare spawn, broken society and a overall postapocalyptic Japan. It sounds cliche and horrendously overdone, but it's not. The story told in the series is quite compelling, fun to watch and confusing in a good way, if that's possible. So what exactly makes it "great"? 1. Climate. Worldbuilding is amazingly done. The artstyle matches the vibe of both the world 15 years after a cataclysm and sterile enviroment of the school. Characters feel human: Kiruko and Maru both have their weaknesses, feelings but also their strong sides, same can be said about Tokio, Mimihime and so on. The weirdness of the world is left mostly unanswered in words, as it is simply the reality of those people, but…

goated characters I love them they're amazing, insanely charismatic animation filled with personality, and a strong mystery chock full of exciting twists and turns to boot. Plus, post-apocalyptic sci-fi rules. I watched the english dub of the show and the voice actors absolutely knocked it out of the park. Every scene with the main two characters interacting is entertaining and very personable. Even brief side characters like ghost stories man have great and funny voice acting (seriously his voice actor makes him super entertaining even with minimal screen time). The atmosphere of the show is consistently captivating, and every voice in the dub is unique. Each character has a very distinct look and feel, and it makes you care for each of the children even if they are not all fleshed out t…

Tengoku Daimakyou has many enjoyable moments. However, I’m sad to say that overall, it is a confused, tonally inconsistent mess. Tengoku Daimakyou takes place in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by an unexplained disaster. The survivors of said disaster have to eke out a meager existence while constantly under threat from mysterious monsters known as man-eaters. The story has two overarching narratives: the story of Kiruko and Maru, two skilled scavengers who spend the show trekking the wasteland in search of the nebulous destination known as “Heaven,” and the tale of a group of teenagers living in a mysterious utopian facility where all of their needs are taken care of and they are kept sheltered from many of the troubles that have plagued humanity throughout history—including sexuality.…

**Rating: 7-9/10** Tengoku Daimakyo (Heavenly Delusion) is a captivating and thought-provoking anime that masterfully blends post-apocalyptic sci-fi, mystery, and human drama. Based on the manga by Masakazu Ishiguro, the series takes viewers on a journey through a beautifully ruined world. No catastrophe memory, the world still remains on the brink of functioning, showing people living in a fairly grounded way. The story majorly stands out with unique worldbuilding; the setting serves as an exploration theme driver, and Tengoku Daimakyo without foreplay presents the viewer an opportunity to explore many small details scattered across its timeline like puzzle pieces, nudging to slowly fill in the spaces in an incomplete sketch of the actual story. As a nice bonus, the show has great visua…
