Inferno Cop is a short anime by Studio Trigger that feels less like a traditional show and more like a fever dream made on a shoestring budget. It’s a three-minute-per-episode anime about a flaming skeleton cop who fights crime by committing several more crimes. The animation looks like it was made in PowerPoint by someone who just discovered the “slide transition” feature, and yet it’s weirdly hypnotic to watch.
There’s technically a plot: Inferno Cop is a vigilante in a corrupt city run by a group called Southern Cross. That lasts about two episodes before he dies, comes back, fights time itself, gives birth, and ends up in outer space for reasons no one understands. The show’s approach to storytelling is simple—if something can happen, it probably will, immediately, and it’ll explode w…

Inferno Cop. He is fire, but his anime isn't quite as fire. Nevertheless, it's still a very enjoyable watch. It's made by the same people as Ninja Slayer from Animation, which I honestly think is a masterpiece (on this topic, I will listen to no other opinion) sadly, it's not as good. The real question here is how close to its bother in terms of quality.
Animation. I use that word loosely. It's barely animated. Despite how crap the animation is, just like Ninja Slayer, it's brilliant. I found myself just smiling because of this rediculous way of animating. Weirdly, it never gets boring. You would have thought that it would because tedious pretty quick but with every passing 3 min episode, you just want to see more of the madness. I would give the animation a 8/10.
Story wise it's all a l…

A truly unique mini-show featuring an undeniably cool and interesting main character, set against a backdrop of bizarre and unpredictable situations.
It’s important to keep in mind that this series is highly experimental and (probably) had the budget equivalent to a few cups of coffee. But if you’re okay with that, you’ll find it absolutely delightful to watch.
The art style—or rather, the animation—feels like they used Photoshop to transform still images of the characters, which adds to its quirky charm. On top of that, the majority of characters are voiced by the same VA, which somehow makes it even funnier.
The plot isn’t particularly deep or complicated, but that’s part of its appeal, also it surprises you in the best ways.

The show covers a very funny script that makes a mix of unlikely situations with simple but well-made animation, in which the characters manage to make you laugh sincerely. It's like a Leslie Nielsen movie, but anime.
Luluco and Inferno Cop's interactions throughout the anime are hilariously funny, and it could please a large part of the audience that watches the show. Inferno is an anime that makes you sit on the couch or chair without high expectations, and end up laugh and leave happy for having had a sincere laugh.
Much better written and with more interesting content than MiguelAntilsu's reviews. Fun and enjoyable show!!!

The idea of this show is a lot funnier than the show itself. It's a great response to 'what is the best studio trigger anime' but it isn't that fun to actually sit down and watch. It wears out it's welcome after the first couple episodes and after a while it's humour become largely unfunny at best and at it's worst point a bit uncomfortably racist.
It's not without charm though, the humour from the presentation of the show is probably its most enjoyable part, and its parody of the over the top action cop movies is fun at times. As a time capsule of a certain era of internet animation, and as an early project of one of the best animation studios today it has charm but it's best to just watch one or two episodes, since that's enough to get the idea of what the series is like.

Heck, let's review Inferno Cop in 2024 to show it's still relevant and even new anime watchers need to check this out! To start off, the best way to go into Inferno Cop is completely blind - just jump right in, hell if you don't enjoy it you've only wasted 3 minutes of your life. The show consists of 13 "episodes" that are each 2-3 minutes, provided you skip the ending (which adds 30 seconds maybe) so you could finish the whole series in less that an hour, there really is no reason to check out this work of art.
Story: ?/10. I'm going to be honest, this is the most out of pocket and insane ONA I've watched so far. I don't have words to describe the story... and I'm not sure it's even possible to describe at all, what it boils down to is: Inferno Cop, badass dude who makes you laugh while…

"INFERNO COP!" This hilarious short series was the first ever TRIGGER series and what a grand opening to this studio it is. With the most absurdism of humor mixed with a very parody feel of masculinity and drama, Inferno Cop feels more like a fever dream and an experience than a real show. Despite this, there is an ongoing "story" that plays out throughout the series, nothing here is filler. Easily recommendable to anyone who wants a quick laugh and an unforgettable experience. Unfortunately there were plans to make a second season but it's completely up in the air now that Inferno Cop's VA, Junichi Gotou, tragically passed away in a motorbike accident. While this series presents itself as extremely goofy and a parody, it still feels like it tries to take itself 100% serious which (quite o…

Someone let a ten-year-old boy make an anime.
That sentence alone is the perfect way to summarize Studio TRIGGER's debut ONA disasterpiece, Inferno Cop. A far cry from what the studio would later be known for, this show has more in common with what you would have found on Newgrounds in the mid-naughties than any other anime. "So bad, it's good" doesn't even begin to describe it.
Story - 0/10
This show has events that are strung together by a sense of continuity. Notice how I never said it has a story. Because rather than having a true beginning or end, the show instead chooses to have its characters pop up wherever, whenever, and do whatever the director decides would be badass at that moment. You've got monsters, robots, zombies, time travel, dinosaurs, race cars, and more on top of tha…

as the first work of studio Trigger this a bad anime but some interesting ideas about this that doesn't make it a worthless crap.
Story : story is a simple one in here I was interested in the story until episode 3 and it got pretty boring after a while the jokes were not funny anymore and if the anime was 20 minutes per episode i would drop this.
Sound : the ending song was so catchy and was good the sound effects were probably being downloaded in a free website and the VA did a good job voicing every character in the show it reminded me of South Park in this matter.
Animation : nothing to say actually we know that TRIGGER becomes one of the greatest anime studios in the future. this anime was a test project.
any way you can watch it if you want but this is not the masterpiece you are…

Think of it as an Aqua Teen Hunger Force kind of show but with little to no budget tons of references and one liners and all the cliches you can think off and some more. Its got a Far Cry Blood Dragon kind of vibe which in my opinion is great.
If you don't like dumb humour in general this ain't the show for you but if you are like me and can turn your brain off for 2 minutes per episode then you are set for some good laughs.
Oh and btw the ending is sung in broken german.

THIS ANIME IS A MASTERPIECE 10/10 ABSOLUTE BANGER WATCH IT PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!
With that out of the way, here's an actual review.
Inferno Cop is epic.
This show is just a shitpost made by people with a lot of talent and a lot of passion. I could not make better if I tried.
The animation is absolutely horrible and I love it. There are times when this show doesn't even try and it works so well. Half of the characters are just copy-pasted to the point where you can't tell if it's a deep and complex analogy for how the anime industry is so saturated with the same characters over and over again or if the animators were just having too much fun.
This show has a FULL ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK and it somehow slaps. I had to go look this up because I forgot whether it even had more than one song but…

I will be honest and straight to the point with you.
Inferno Cop legitimately has made me lost for words in how to describe it with enough justice. I have already scrapped 2 different reviews for this. So I am not even going to try anymore, instead, I will try and reincarnate the feeling of how it is like to watch Inferno Cop, whilst conveying the good things of narrative, audiovisuals, and enjoyment. Enjoy.

Inferno cop is a tour de force of postmodern grace, taking the core tenets of animation and the anime industry and subverting them in a way that inherently defiles them. When speaking on inferno cop we must first understand the role desire as lack serves in the perpetuation of various styles and tropes within anime. Lacan speaks on desire as lack insofar as desire is a lack of being; we seek to be recognized by others because we ourselves in human development struggle to define ourselves without external forces such as our upbringing, language, culture, etc. thus, desire is a perpetuation of this desire as lack. We seek recognition from the other, to find the self within the other. We must then in essence psychoanalyze the anime industry, taking to its roots in the 60’s into the 90’s, and…

I know that writing a review in 2020 on an anime that was released in 2012 is idiotic, but crap, Inferno Cop was the peak of anime. For those people that say that giving IC a 10 is "a joke", it isn't; well, not to me, at least.
Story: 8
Similar to other anime making fun of other genres, like konosuba for isekai and danshi koukousei no nichijou for slice of life, Inferno Cop takes a hilarious plot twist on the "shounen/superhero genre." It's an anime about beating up crippled women, killing your own director and destroying god himself. It's such a fresh take.

I can not find words to describe this anime, for it is akin to the supreme manifestation of god's will, something that we foolish heathens don't deserve to feast our eyes upon.
This rating is but a mere number, assigned by a foolish man, a number that can't truly convey the essence of the sublime existence that is this anime, constrained by it's own capabilities, for it's worth can not be appraise by that which is worth less. Alas, I can not assign a greater score to this anime, this manifestation of Buddha himself, so this 10 must suffice.

My time spent watching Inferno Cop can be summarized by the following quote:
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only."

Bias.
I think Inferno Cop is supposed to be something more than it is: novelty humor. And I can only take so much novelty humor before the camel's back breaks. My 'interesting' review fails to mention one thing: Serial Experiments Lain works better as a 'novelty show'. Serial Experiments Lain is the Twin Peaks of anime. Serial Experiments lain proves a point much better than Trigger, which as a company has gone downhill in recent years, fails to. This reminds me of the recent injustice that Hideaki, Anno faced with Gainax and how bankrupt these passion project have become. Everyone's bored with Trigger and would much rather be playing League of Legends. -a

Inferno Cop is a perfect example of 'don't judge a book by its cover'. At first, I saw the art style and decided to not watch it based on that, but seeing as the episodes were only 3 minutes long, I gave it a shot anyway.
Story: 8/10
Inferno Cop has a very interesting narrative and story. It portrays a lot of real world issues in a comedic way. In only 3 minutes too. I absolutely loved the story from beginning to end and there was not a dull moment.
Art: 8/10
Yeah, the art is just cheap animation, but that's what makes it so good and perfect. It has a distinct style that suits the show, any higher quality would lessen the greatness of this anime.
Sound: 7/10
All the voice actors fit perfectly with their roles, everything was so funny to listen to. Soundtrack fits perfectly!!

Inferno Cop is an action anime and it's animated by Trigger.
Inferno Cop is a serialized show where Inferno Cop gets into a lot of capers. He has to preserver through any challenge he is given. The animation is bad and very low effort and most of it is just still images moving around. The voice acting is not too bad but the female voices are terrible. It doesn't have an OP, only an ED and its good.
I have to have a longer review so You should watch this if you are really bored and need some mindless entertainment.

I wanna start by saying that I am a huge fan of studio Trigger, the late Gainax, and pretty much anything Hiroyuki Imaishi or Masumoto Kazuya have their hands on and also I loved Ninja Slayer. This anime is dificult to rate. I appreciate that it's my favourite studio's first "work" and I very well KNOW that it's not meant to be taken seriously and is just a parody for fun.
That being said, I didn't enjoy this very much neither ironically nor unironically, unlike Ninja Slayer that I enjoyed both for ironic reasons (the "yeaaaah"s, the photoshop fights, the fanservice, the anime stereotyoes, etc) but mostly for unironic reasons (great characters, writing, cool premises, awesome visual stills and serious moments). Of course this review is about Inferno Cop, but I just wanted to get that out…
