This anime is very strange, but that makes it very unique and has it charm.
The (amazing!!!) western cartoony style on a japanese production just causes a sense of strangeness, then you go to see the actual episodes and oh my God.
Can't say all of it is good, but maybe most of it is. It will depend mostly of you because this anime is definitely not for everyone.
For the kind of people that are sick of the same again and again and want something diferent and stylish from an anime, this title is totally for you.
PS: Also dirty jokes and very dirty characters really MUST not be a problem.

Its panty & stocking! and what it is it does it WELL. the english VA's sell the show and make it worth watching just for them. Panty and Stockings dynamic is pretty cute and works nicely for the show. As do the demon sisters Scanty and Knee-socks make for good foils and counter parts to the Anarchy sisters. Now not all the jokes land and to be entirely honest some episodes shouldn't have been made. It does keep going at a good pace though. As for the bread and butter of the show, the sex jokes, they aren't the most funny but they don't get stale to me at least. Overall Panty & Stocking with Garter-belt is a show of all time, its worth a shot if you want the equivalent to an AMAZING fast food burger, it isn't gourmet, but it's also not something you'd find at your local burger king either,…

What if Adult Swim made a 2000's action comedy Cartoon Network show? That's how'd I sum up this show and man leave it for a non-US studio to replicate that premise and some hella more!
As a schmuck that doesn't take most anime seriously, Panty and Stocking's dialogue is an absolute angel descended of being raunchy, b*tchy to the max and self-deprecating that's an absolute joy to watch. More so the English dub being unequivocally the only appropriate way to watch this, the voice actors are absolutely excellent and fits so damn well. There is never a dull moment from the main characters, but alas the few filler stuff from others does slow things down, but guess that's in the show's manners.

Extremely funny and quirky. It definitely works as an amazing satire of the powerpuff girls and a lot of different media with lots of references being sprinkled around as well. I love that the animators and screenwriters just had fun with a lot of different Western and Eastern media to imprint their own flavor on. I watched it in the English dub, and it was extremely funny, as many of the jokes were definitely something that would only make sense to a Western audience. Every episode had me smiling or laughing out loud with their funny gags and bits. The dialogue was extremely witty and felt alive in every moment. I loved the dynamic between the sisters as they love each other but also can't stand each other in the same vein.

The weirdest and funniest anime I’ve seen in a while this is hands down the most fun and different anime I’ve watched recently. At first, I thought it was going to be something like Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi — but nope, not even close. I’d say this anime is more like a bunch of sketches thrown together, kind of like random episodes in kids’ cartoons… except there’s nothing kid-friendly about this one. 😂
It’s basically a series of short sketches — some of them are absolutely brilliant, others... kinda boring, which keeps it from being a perfect 10/10 for me. But when it hits, it really hits.
Personally, I love this kind of stupid, edgy humor — where you just sit back and laugh at dumb jokes with a twisted vibe. But if that’s not your thing, this anime is definitely not for you.

"Fun", I think is the best definition for this series, it is fun. Panty and stocking, as seen in the illustrations and covers, have a design reminiscent of the Western cartoon style, despite this, it still has Japanese elements in addition to the language spoken by the characters.
The animation isn't bad, but you feel like they saved a lot, especially in some episodes that border on being a recap.
Regarding the story, it doesn't necessarily have a sequel, but I think that only one episode takes place in parallel to the true story and it is clear that its ending is not continued, as if it were something non-canonical.
About the humor: you can smile, I didn't laugh, just a few weak smiles, not that this indicates that the humor is bad, just don't expect too many things.

Great show with great characters. I absolutely love the premise of an anime parodying raunchy and mature north american cartoons. It's like an inverse of Avatar or Teen Titans. Supposedly, contrary to popular belief, it wasn't inspired by South Park, but rather Drawn Together of all cartoons. Definately a breath of fresh air compared to the regular hyper-sexual/wildly innaproperate anime where they pull the same tropes over and over for the sake of fanservice. Also, while the designs are simplistic, the show has some of the best action sequences I have ever seen in an anime. This one's been a long time coming. Panty and Stocking is one of those shows you see out of context, though context doesn't make it better, as a kid and you laugh your ass off at how zany and stupid it is. Finally having gotten around to it and I have to say it's just fine.

This show is a lot, and it pulls zero punches as it hits you with both its bizarre and downright gross premise episode after episode. I love this parody of western cartoons and culture and despite being a bit much at times, that is the entire point of the show. It shows time and time again just how shitty the main characters are as people despite them being "the heroes." There are whole episodes of filler nonsense or plots that leave me disgusted and gagging, which does sound like a negative and in some aspects it is, as your enjoyment may swiftly turn into an endurance challenge for twenty minutes. I mean what can one even say about this show? There are no words worthy enough to describe it. Its simply Trigger at it again with their craziness. Yes i am a Trigger fan. Atleast their older shows and original projects. Not Cyberpunk. BNA was also pretty mediocre. But Gurren Lagann was awesome and Kill La Kill sits among my 10/10. This doesnt reach those levels but not far of and worthy of being in their company.

Panty & Stocking: Still a unique masterpiece
For the past 14 years, I have remembered and revisited certain scenes from Panty & Stocking dearly. When the show came out in 2010, I was 23 years old, and I wondered if its crass humor would still appeal to me now almost at 38. I spent most of this year rewatching old shows I once placed in my 3x3 (s/o Trash Taste), and I'm happy to write that this show held up better than I expected.
Coming to Mal, I was surprised that it had so many negative reviews. These talked about the series crass humor, about how unfunny and low brow it was. I'm coming to it from a different perspective.

Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt is an absolutely phenomenally made send-up of American pop culture, perfectly imitating western animation in a way that shows just how appreciative this Japanese studio is of animation across the pond, and how both American and Japanese animation would not be where they are without each other.
However, being a perfect imitation of an American cartoon means that it perfectly captures common flaws of the medium just as much as its strengths.
While it may have gone on to crash and burn, Studio Gainax was absolutely revolutionary in what it was able to do with the time it had, and it permanently changed anime as a medium. Watch episodes 1,6,7,8,9,11, and 13 for the gems of panty and stockings. The rest of the episodes are literal borderline on every occasion. The episodes listed above ARE the gems people will talk about and the rest are ones people will use to shit on the show. I how ever am in the middle of it and would love to reduce this anime to a random snippet show to let it continue its entire story in small stories which are literal borderline. Since honestly skipping any of the episodes does not at all damage the whole of the show. Thank you!

The show is 14 years old when I completed it, so I won't dwell on animation, design or sound. Suffice to say they do not suck. Also, I'm assuming the show's reputation proceeds itself, so no need for trigger warnings and disclaimers. For most, shows like Family Guy and South Park push or exceed the line of acceptable television. Though not all of their content make it past the censors, their unapologetic shots at religion, the LGBT community, and the disabled make them subjects of marked controversy, and are even outright banned from syndication in parts of the world. It's hard to imagine there could be material worse than that, short of porn.
Then, there's Panty & Stocking. A show so glaringly rife with profanity, toilet humor, and sex jokes, it doesn't just make the previous two look like Sesame Street by comparison, it questions mankind altogether. Who in their right mind would ever think this acid trip of a show was entertaining?

Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt is stylistically and contextually different from what most people would consider anime. It has a default animation style that is mostly associated with American Cartoons like "The Powerpuff Girls" with the humor of "South Park". The humor in a lot of portions of the anime is a little too low brow to be laugh out loud funny. The animation style and subject matter of plots prevent the show from being titillating in a way that shows with an Ecchi tag should be. The show would have been better in this respect if they had made more use of the animation style from the animation style from the transformation sequences more in the show, and/or didn't have Panty & Stocking fight a monster made out of poop. Panty and Stocking is a nice anime.
The problem with this anime is it felt too "American". Panty and Stocking was an attempt to appease to the western market.
It did not work well. The jokes were fine. I like on-edge jokes, Ghost Stories Dub was just that.
This one felt very lazy though. It tried too hard and barely tried at humour I felt like.
The story is about Panty and Stocking and they are trying to go back to heaven. Instead they are stuck fixing peoples problems. Either going back to high school, etc. They do it and then go on their day. No real story, though that is what I would expect.
The animation quality and style is very bold I like that
