Tower of God

Tower of God

Introduction

There is a tower that summons chosen people called "Regulars" with the promise of granting their deepest desires. Whether it be wealth, fame, authority, or something that surpasses them all—everything awaits those who reach the top. Twenty-Fifth Bam is a boy who had only known a dark cave, a dirty cloth, and an unreachable light his entire life. So when a girl named Rachel came to him through the light, his entire world changed. Becoming close friends with Rachel, he learned various things about the outside world from her. But when Rachel says she must leave him to climb the Tower, his world shatters around him. Vowing to follow after her no matter what it takes, he sets his sight on the tower, and a miracle occurs. Thus begins the journey of Bam, a young boy who was not chosen by the Tower but opened its gates by himself. They call his kind "Irregulars"—beings that have shaken the very foundation of the Tower each time they set foot inside it. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

I've been reading the webtoon for years and I am one of the fans for whom ToG coming to screen was a dream come true. Let's be honest, the animation is bad. There's only so much you can do with the product of a starting webtoon artist. The first chapters are from 2010, just go look at them. The art level is nowhere near the skill of beginning Manga artists. This is going to change as we go along, I promise you. The author improved so much over the years... However, ToG got famous for its story, not for its beautiful artwork. If I had to categorize the story, I would say it's pure power-scaling Shounen with some inclination to subverting tropes. I believe that if you watch the first episode, you can already get a taste of what's coming. Bizarrely strange environment, disregarding our worl…

Actually good and actually poop. It's unique art and concept drew me at first and it honestly started strong, enough to keep my attention in the first few episodes but then it became a messier ride. Good things first, there're some very cool characters that are easy to like, each episode was decent and engaging until the crown test ended, and the plot twist at the end was pretty solid. After the crown test though the cracks really swallowed it. Theres like no effort to the world building, so many things that would've been helpful to know and maybe cool to explore but eventually I just stopped caring. The writing post-crown was just a messy mess, twas confusing, and it felt like it was stumbling over itself and even when you reallyyy thought about it still didn't make sense, partially be…

Introduction This show is an absolute masterpiece and easily one of the best anime experiences out there. It acts as a rare gem that pulled me in so hard I ended up buying anime merchandise for the first time ever, and it even became the second series I have ever tattooed on my skin. Everything from its soundtrack to its world-building hits a level of quality that makes every single episode completely gripping. Story The narrative structure across the floors is phenomenal, with every challenge and antagonist leaving a permanent mark. The main lead seems like your typical broken protagonist at first, but as the story moves forward, you understand exactly why he possesses that power—it actually makes total sense. Watching his growth is incredible, and even when his trusting nature leads to…

I think that this is a fine adaptation. I don't know if it fully does justice to the source material, but I found it to be very enjoyable. Curiously one of the complaints I've seen is the art style, but I think the art and animation make this more palatable than the manwha. The art of the manwha is pretty rough around the edges in the first volume. It improves very quickly after that and it gets very good, but every time I reread Tower of God looking at the art of the first volume feels a little jarring. The only real grievance I have is that they translated/changed so many of the names into Japanese names. This is a practice that I always hated in the old English dubs of anime and I think it's equally stupid when a Korean piece of media makes it over to a Japanese format. If you're an an…

It's a great story. The tower concept is quite common in manhwa, but it still offers fresh ideas regarding powers and abilities. The story revolves around the idea that if you climb the tower, you'll fulfill your dreams. Everyone wants to climb it for different reasons, but they all seem to have something in common: they feel that before entering the tower, they've already lost what's most important to them. In contrast, the protagonist climbs the tower because that's where what matters most to him is. No one has betrayed him, and he trusts others completely. He's a good person, unlike anyone else, which is why people have different reactions to him, though most are positive. He's undoubtedly a great character who grows throughout the episodes and will continue to do so. This story proba…

The era of the anime revolution. When Tower of God premiered in 2020, it marked a significant moment for the industry. Until then, anime adaptations of Korean webtoons were virtually non-existent in the Japanese market. It was Crunchyroll's investment that brought the project to life, paving the way for numerous subsequent adaptations. Regardless of the work's actual quality, its historical importance is undeniable. The story follows Bam, a boy who enters a colossal tower in pursuit of Rachel, the only person who gave his life meaning. Inside the tower, each floor presents increasingly dangerous challenges, trials, and characters, where only the strongest, smartest, or most determined can keep climbing. The premise is simple: ascend the tower in search of power, prestige, and the fulfill…

The anime isn't perfect. It has pacing issues at times and feels disjointed in some segments. However. The art style is gorgeous. And the music by Kevin Perkins elevates the anime to a different level. Story wise the anime will feel disjointed until the last episode. And then everything will make sense. A lot of people don't like this anime because they went into it expecting a typical anime first season. However what they miss is that the first season IS JUST PROLOGUE. The first season is just the set up. And as far as setups go. I really I enjoyed it. It has some cliche moments sure, some cheesy even. But I liked them. My rating originally was going to be a 6.5 or 7. But the music alone made me bump it up to 8. _Now yes while I do mention that first season is just prologue... It woul…

If you're gonna watch Tower of God, watch the dub. If you're quickly skimming reviews and only take one thing from mine let it be that. My God, watch the dub. Tower of God has one of the best dubs I've had the joy of listening to since Mob Psycho 100, and the OG singer even does the OP in English to boot! Almost every actor provides an absolutely stellar performance here. But I digress: Tower of God is a great example of how good directing and characters can elevate otherwise mediocre storytelling. It's a show that kept me invested enough to finish it with a 7/10, but also a show that makes me look at director Takashi Sano and think "God, imagine if they let him direct a REALLY GOOD story next. It'd be fantastic." The pacing, sound, art design, and animation on this series are all super…

The show starts strong but loses track. It turns out to be a total non-sense. The anime has engaging fight scenes and enjoyable mysteries till half of the season. Then suddenly the world goes into a disarray. There is no proper sense in why any character does anything. Even they reflect contradictions quite often, a good guy and then suddenly a bad guy, again good finally. The protagonist is praised by all, though I find no apparent reason. I think no one will whole heartedly enjoy the show. The story has close resemblance to a setup of video games about quests. The art style is so-so. The characters behave inconsistently.

Very Good anime. I recently come across the Season 2 and started watching that but I forgot the season 1 so I had to rewatch first and as same as usual, I still fucking hate rachel. I like the Kami no Tou universe because the power scaling and plot is a mystery to me, there's a certain complexity which seems just right. Rewatching this was not a waster of time because it serves as a recap. Although the fight scenes are not that amazing, it is still a good start of story. Anyway, just watch this anime, I just finished season 1 and 2, off to go watch the Workshop Battle.

Direct viewer here and I’ll make it sweet and quick without all of the nonsense! -If you’re a seasonal/avid anime watcher and appreciate the quality of story, character development and more… run. -If you’ve watched some anime from time to time and is still part of your hobby you may enjoy it. It’s pretty slow paced and characters and VA is kinda boring, but if you’re looking for something easy to follow along this is definitely a must. -if you’re young and new-ish to anime in general I would recommend it! Just don’t underestimate how deep anime can be , how intense the story could become, how awesome characters and character development could be, and so much more. - Personal review: it’s 100% a 5/10 anime. It’s extremely cliche, not very entertaining and characters are extremely blan…

Tower of God season 1 is…………………not bad at all, it’s quite great actually. Now hear me out, I have no clue of how the Webtoon goes and what details it missed (Which I know it’s missing some for sure) but as an anime watcher (a.ka me) it’s pretty great. The animation is pretty to look at and the art style is phenomenal. Unlike other webtoon’s that get adapted, the artstyle this studio gave to the Webtoon really makes you feel like your watching a webcomic come to life and that’s an experience I’ve never felt with the other adaptations. Feels like a lot of thought went into the artstyle and backgrounds that they’re such a joy to look at. Unfortunately season 2 took away this, which i consider was a huge appeal…. They made it look like any other anime :( The characters are such a joy too watch…

It is one of those series like "Lost": - they keep the mistery alive till the last episode, then the last episode doesn't explain shit. - some weird convoluted "mistery" as an excuse to mash thousands of genres together and call it "all part of the mistery". is it fantasy? future? past? crime? thriller? why not everything at the same time, while failing at them all? Spend a whole series watching this and then realize nothing actually happened. the plot didn't move at all. still same characters, still same goals, nothing changed and nothing progressed. I even watched the first episode of the second season because FINALLY it felt like something was going to happen...But no. Second season starts the same way: avoiding the plot and introducing new characters to avoid progressing the story. I…

Great show overall! Fantastic world building, art and plot. Side characters are very loveable, tests and villains are great. Really hoping they clear up some stuff next season, like what is the place Yoru and Rachel start from before they get to the tower? How is it that Yoru only knows her? What happened before that? Only thing I disliked is Rachel's psychology, she seems much more depressed and insecure, but to pursue her irrationaly narcissistic dream I figure she needs to be much more psychotic, and it lacks. Also her motivations are a little bit half baked, she wants to be a star? Why? What for? Hope these questions get answers next season.

I do not recommend! anime is boring and uninteresting and for those who try to say that the anime is "good" they have to start explaining things. The anime starts out meaningless and ends the same way it started, it's dull, lukewarm, and without development, especially from the potagonist, it starts off as rubbish and ends the same. the secondary characters and the plots with them are more interesting than everything involving the protagonist that we know absolutely nothing about. For those who love this anime, I'm sorry for your lives, go find something better. For those who still want to see this anime or will see it and won't read this, I'm sorry, I hope you can forget the time you wasted watching it

I just completed this because I want to watch season 2 that is currently airing, I already had a impressions of it before watching it. I have seen some memes on it and disscussion but didn't have any spoiler. It is good, probably did a bad job in presenting because the strory is here and there, I don't have any idea how the manhwa is.There is a character who should be the most hated character, I agree with the reason why that character is hated but to be the most hated is overkill.I don't know how manhwa present it so don't mind it. You can watch it without problem, here is no spoiler.

Perhaps because I did not read the webtoon before watching the anime, I find the drawing style and animation to be excellent! The fighting scenes and meme moments, especially with Rak, made me laugh a lot. I love the plot and the whole concept of climbing to the top and losing something precious. That's a reflection of how life works. The entire universe is captivating, with Rankers, Administrators, Princesses, and more. What I didn't appreciate in the plot of the first season is the "baby-sitting" aspect, where characters just team up to help Bam save something precious to him. This motivation felt somewhat lacking to me. The characters are complex, which is another advantage of this series. You can see madness, sorrow, and happiness—all at once in each of them. It leaves you wondering…

I don't even know what to think about this anime. Theoretically, it should be a 10, but it really left a lot to be desired. Starting with Bam, the main character, for me, he was completely forgettable, the most indifferent main character I have ever seen in an anime. It bothered me that everyone who met Bam liked him because it seemed like the audience was being forced to like Bam for no reason. He lacks personality and seems like a person without ambition, without motivation, and with a lot of mommy issues. In an anime like this, you would expect incredible world-building, but it feels like they mixed 40 different worlds and spat them on the screen. What do I mean by this? Basically, you see different races, people who look like they're from different eras, a world that seems religious a…

To me it's really a masterpiece in terms of what you can achieve in the span of 13 episodes. This mysterious Tower set the setting in a beautiful way that I've never seen before and it could seem as though the Tower has an infinite amount of floors (I didn't read the manhwa). The tests are complex, unique, different from each other and unlike any test I've ever seen before in anime, this is not your regular shonen action. The tests are also a way to deepen the plot, and the plot is not only amazing. It also managed to get you pretty far deep into the story in 13 episodes in a way that doesn't feel rushed which is really impressive. You get to see the reason as to why everyone got into the tower and you understand the brutality of this world. The characters are entertaining and even though…
