Mobile Suit Gundam 00

Mobile Suit Gundam 00

Introduction

In the distant future, mankind's dependence on fossil fuels will lead to their complete depletion, an energy crisis unlike anything the world witnessed. Out of retaliation and fear, humanity began focusing at an alternative source of energy: solar power. Different nations have united together to form three major factions—the Union of Solar Energy and Free Nations, the Advanced European Union, and the Human Reform League. Each of these sectors has access to a solar power generator, which gives them limitless energy. As a result, countries that were once dependent on the sale of fossil fuels are now plunged in poverty, leading to years of warfare and internal strife over the control of solar energy. Amid this chaos, an unknown paramilitary organization appeared identifying themselves as "Celestial Being," aspire to end all warfare through armed intervention by using mysterious and technologically advanced Mobile Suits known as Gundams. Mobile Suit Gundam 00 follows the story of Celestial Being's Gundam Meisters Setsuna F. Seiei, Lockon Stratos, Allelujah Haptism, and Tieria Erde. These four dive into the devastating battle between the three superpowers to accomplish their goal of changing the world. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Gundam 00 is very accessible, 25 episodes instead of the average of 50 that the classic Gundam series are known for. It is an alternate universe, it has its own world building, its own cast of characters and its own narrative goals that vaguely sync with the themes of the mainline Gundam universe (UC). You don't need to know anything about Gundam to watch it. That said, Gundam 00 is painfully mediocre. The characters are cardboard cutouts made to follow a narrative, they don't have enough juice for you to say "that guy could be one of my favorites". In a sense it's pretty realistic, as in, most adults in real life act like absolute professionals when they need to get serious, but in an animated series with rainbow colored haired people, it ends up feeling like you're lacking flavor. Not on…

5/10 ~ Not the worst Gundam but far from the best I cannot look at 00 by itself at this point as ive seen nearly every Gundam show. On a Scale of All Anime ever 00 ranks pretty middling for me at a very average show as a 5/10, however as far as Gundam series go that I have watched with F91 being the worst rated at a 4/10 and Origins (0068) being the highest at a 8.5/10, 00 actually ranks towards the bottom of the pack right next to Wing, which is pretty Ironic as from what I can tell 00 was their attempt at more or less re-booting Wing (similar to how Seed is a re-boot of the original series of 0079) 00 Does some right, but for everything it does well it gets as much wrong if not more. This show is plagued with so many problems throughout. Pros: - The best thing See does well is the a…

Mobile Suit Gundam 00 encapsulates all the quintessential elements of the Gundam franchise. From compelling main characters to nail-biting one-on-one mecha contests blended with elaborate military tactics and grand scale wars, it excels on all fronts. Despite the slight melodrama, it does not overwhelmingly cloud the plot like in Gundam Seed. What truly sets this epic apart is its mature tone and character portrayals. Unlike most other mecha series, the protagonists in this one are not teenagers, but fully grown-up adults, giving the story an adult weight. I highly value the neutrality the heroes' organization's ideological position, fighting to erase all conflicts impartially. It confirmed with what I have thought on before, and the series discusses it properly, even mentioning the hard…

I love the wide array of politics Gundam 00 touched at the beginning. A few real world politics and conflicts are portrayed with some alteration and fake names. A lot of these politics are blatantly explained through the unnatural amount of blabbering, which is great for dummies like me albeit cheap. Although mostly touched on the surface level, it's nice to see the representation of these real world issues in entertainment media. There are also a huge amount of characters introduced into the anime. Even VETO countries' leaders get significant screentime throughout the season. Other than those old bastards, there are different perspectives to the events set up within various recurring characters. There's the peaceful civillians, journalist, militaries, researcher, royal and a few mysterio…

Mobile Suit Gundam 00 served as my introduction to the massive set of universes that is Gundam. Gundam 00, at its core, is about mechs blasting each other to bits in space. If this idea holds no appeal for you, this is probably not the series for you. What really propelled me through this anime, however, was the setting. Gundam 00 takes place in a universe in the midst of a massive conflict. Geopolitics, war, and independent factions with questionable motives make things VERY interesting, and the suspense that these facets build up make the show unique and satisfying. There is no inherent "good" or "bad" in this show when it comes to the various sides, because everything tends to be a grey area when it comes to morality. This makes the experience all the more thrilling. In the end, the…

Disclaimer: I watched the English dub version of this season. I have never watched a Gundam series or film before this one. I generally enjoy sci-fi, space, war/military, combat/fighting, and mecha themes in fiction. Going into this, I expected it to be fairly solid. Even though I have never watched a Gundam series before, I've certainly been aware of the property. It's been around forever, and it's widely known and very popular. It also tends to get rated well. But after watching season 1 of Mobile Suit Gundam 00, I find myself with no desire to watch season 2, and very little curiosity about any other Gundam series if this is representative of what they have to offer. I'm struggling to think about any general category this show did well. Art, character, story, dialogue, combat, sound…

This is probably a biased review, but i dont care this is a very good underrated anime - watch it. Overall it is great if you are looking to getting in to gundam as it is not part of the main timeline, and has a second season if you like it. It is also fairly recently made compared to other gundam series - so if you are not into the old animation this is quite a good pick. Overall really enjoyable. The storyline is engaging, (political without being boring). The characters are great and have a lot of progression through the anime and deep, sad backstories with a few relationships that form. The anime is not just about huge mechas fighting eachother, but the struggle and conflict of war. Setsuna f. seiei is the main character - he has the most development (though im not gonna spoil anyth…

*NO SPOILERS* This was my first and only introduction into the Gundam franchise. Based on the reviews I came in with high expectations, but was left a bit disappointed. Overall I think that this was enjoyable to watch, the action was good, and some of the more political elements were interesting, but other than that it wasn't much. The characters, although were provided with strong back stories, didn't really show much depth or development. I'd say that they were for the most part fairly one-dimensional. There was a lot of potential that was wasted. I still think that this anime is worth a shot but its nothing exceptional. Maybe give the first few episodes a try, (I also watched the second season which although I found less enjoyable than this first season, still wasn't as bad as some p…

The main idea is very good and very interesting, basically "what would happen if a private organization with a more advanced technology decided to end war?", that's a very good premise. At the beginning, the anime has to introduce us the context in which the story will take place, and to me, that's the most tiring part. They introduce a lot of characters, a lot of organizations and a lot of links between those, giving us many different views of the events of the anime. At first, I had a bad feeling the anime wouldn't be able to develop all those little storylines that it was showing us, but wow Gundam 00 really surprised me, because all the different fronts converge at some point and everything makes sense, and the approach of how the world leaders act, of how the organizations act, they'…

At first I watched this because I wanted too see giant robots beat the crap out of each other in space and I heard this was a stand alone show set in its own timeline of the gundam multiverse the first few episodes made me realise there was a lot more to this show the main focus is on a group of gundam pilots that believe ending war with force is the only way for humanity to move forwards and we see the perspectives of various charecters from diffrent governments and backgrounds the main group celestial being are left morally ambiguous as they storm battlefields creating more chaos and destruction If you like mechs and are ok with a more political storyline with mech combat thrown in and intresting charecters I would reccomend this show although the second season lacks in my opinion

Looking back at this anime, it was too advanced for its' time. Till today gundam anime like Age, G-Reco, Iron Blooded Orphans are unable to hold a candle to this series in terms of plot, art(especially art) and enjoyment. It is truly a pioneer of 21st century Gundam. I won't compare Unicorn, and Origins as they are OVAs rather than series. The beauty of this anime comes to show how present day anime has gone down to low budget art styles which is a shame to see regression instead of going forward. This anime is a good sci-fi representation of the Anno Domini many years from now. Scientifically stimulating for sci-fi nerds. Give this anime a go and you might realize why I said it is far ahead of its' time. 10/10 forever.

First review (I am keeping this short): I watched this anime because a friend pointed out how much he like it. I was thinking that I was really going to enjoy myself here and probably with high hopes set this anime up for failure. Story [5]: The story is OK. Heavy politics in the first like 7 episodes and you really have to keep track of everyone and their names (there are a lot of supporting cast members and they all have a small story - seriously) or you are going to get confused with the nuances of this anime. My main problem with this anime, aside from the supporting cast getting SO much screen time, was that this anime had a SERIOUS tone to it. I was confused with how serious it was (8 episodes of politics - really?) and how fallible its main protagonists were. It took a lot of tim…

[3rd Edit] I am a big-time Gundam fan (even Gunpla building), but not one of the conservative fans, so I have watched all Gundams, and without judgment. That being said, I can state that Gundam 00, season 1, is a must-watch, even if you are unsure if you like the "mecha genre". However, yes, there are some bumps in the road. I advise you to see my review of the second season as well. It feels like Season 1 and Season 2 were made independently by teams that never talked to each other. Review below. Story: the story of the first season is awesome and you will get hooked from the beginning. The strongest part of the narrative is that Gundam 00 takes place in our world, which is different from the other Gundam. You will see some nice future predicting stuff if the technology in the series cou…

I really enjoy the Gundam series overall, and this one is my favorite by far. I really love the story with this one, I think it draws you in and makes you really like the characters. I really like it when they blur the lines between which side is doing good, and which side is doing the most harm. The mobile suit fights are amazing, I think this series does some very interesting things with their Gundams that you don't expect. The animation, really top notch. I really have a hard time finding something negative about this series, so I wont struggle to do so.

The Gundam franchise has been a part of my life now ever since I was re-introduced to the franchise thanks to Gundam Build Fighters and Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans. Throughout my journey from this franchise I had seen a lot of great from this franchise but at the same time a lot of bad from this franchise. Nevertheless, I still had a great time watching all of the Gundam shows from this franchise and I don‘t regret it one bit. The U.C Gundam shows are mostly great sure they had its weak moments like ZZ and Victory but out of all the Gundam timelines, the U.C timeline is the most polished of them all. Now the alternate universe overall are hit or mess depending on your tastes and some alternate universe Gundam shows were good others ranged from meh to pretty bad. Out of all the alternate u…

(I revamped the review completely, as I think reading it must be pretty painful, since it's just one sentence after the other, attempting to form a concise review. It's still probably going to contain minor spoilers, so please keep that in mind. Since my memories of the series are pretty vivid, you can ask me about the series on my profile.) Gundam 00 - Many people consider this series to be an edgefest or a bad series entirely, which is, surprisingly for the fandom, understandable. Some consider it a masterpiece of huge proportions, maybe after the disappointment from the SEED and SEED Destiny series. I don't consider it to be any of these - while the series is definitely solid and brings some nice, fresh ideas to the old table of Gundam, I don't believe it is a holy grail of unbelievabl…

I had a lot of hope for this series but was pretty disappointed. Overall I enjoyed the story but felt that it was hurt by the constant shifting, and pointless Mecha powers. Something insanely powerful could be overpowered the next episode. I can enjoy shifts in power and the constantly evolving powers of the machines but it felt very empty and pointless for me in 00. You have super soldiers that is never really shown to be more powerful, You have a new ability revealed and shown how monumental it is, only for it to be overpowered in the next episode. However season 2 does start to balance the power levels more and introduce more of a power structure with upgrades and powerups usually lasting more then an episode and having more of an impact

I was introduced to the Gundam Franchise by IBO, around that period in time between the airing of the first and second series - that is to say, before it totally went downhill. I then investigated 00, SEED and its corresponding trainwreck of a sequel, and the first few episodes of many other Gundam series. One thing struck me, and that was that this franchise seems to have one thing in common with itself every time: It frequently starts strong, but becomes disillusioned in the latter half, or the sequel. Of them all, 00 has the least loopholes and therefore, by that reasoning, it is the best. I'm also not saying this from a biased perspective, as my favourite happens to be Seed (who knows why, it's not even that good) but 00 is all-round better quality. As an added bonus, it's also the pr…

Note: This review is for the first 25 episodes ONLY (season 1). Gundam 00 one of the many non-Universal Century story series in the Gundam franchise and one that stands out primarily for its initial plot, that being an almost exact copy of the 90s series Gundam Wing: a team of young men are sent to earth in super overpowered mech suits called Gundams with the sole task of bringing peace to the world by whatever means needed. What separates 00 from the campy, cheesy melodrama of Wing though is 00 takes this premise both realistically and seriously and even tries to spin the concept on its head, calling into question the morality of the actions of the main characters and their hypocritically violent approach to stopping violence. The key word, however, is "tries". It does not entirely succ…
