Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2

Introduction

One year has passed since the Black Rebellion, a failed uprising against the Holy Britannian Empire led by the masked vigilante Zero, who is now missing. At a loss without their revolutionary leader, Area 11's resistance group—the Black Knights—find themselves too powerless to combat the brutality inflicted upon the Elevens by Britannia, which has increased significantly in order to crush any hope of a future revolt. Lelouch Lamperouge, having lost all memory of his double life, is living peacefully alongside his friends as a high school student at Ashford Academy. His former partner C.C., unable to accept this turn of events, takes it upon herself to remind him of his past purpose, hoping that the mastermind Zero will rise once again to finish what he started. I personally am a aot glazzer and i was damn sure that i won't find and anime that will be the level of aot but when i completed Code geass i sat their for 30min and just thinking about what have i just experienced than i had to make a choice if i should keep code geass on 1st on my ranking and put aot on 2nd or put code geass on 2nd and let aot be on first after thinking very much i and by analyzing every aspect i choose to keep aot on 1st because i think that aot i perfect in every aspect , i put aot on 1st that doesnt mean that code geass is inferior to aot i personally think both are at same level but still i have to rank right . now if i talk about lelouch i have never seen a character so great as him he just to perfect , he has emotions he takes his decisions logically and not throug…

I watched Code Geass from start to finish without any spoilers and really enjoyed it, which is why The Best Ending in All of Fiction completely blew me away. It’s so great to see that Lelouch isn’t a perfect character, even though everyone else thinks Zero is perfect and never makes mistakes and how even just one tiny mistake can ruin everything. He doesn’t make excuses but openly admits it’s his fault. It’s just really cool to watch, and it makes him so much better as a character. At the same time, Lelouch and Suzaku’s different approaches to improving the world are so interesting—one wants to make the world better from the inside and rejects violence, while the other believes you can’t change the world without getting your hands dirty. Lelouch is the best main character but he’s definite…

Let's just be completely clear and upfront: Code Geass Season 1 was absolutely amazing, and I'd probably give it a 10 out of 10. I'd even give the first couple episodes of Season 2 a 10 out of 10, but that's absolutely where the good reviews have to stop. At that point, the show goes from being a 10 out of 10 to nosediving off a cliff as fast, or faster, than almost any other anime I've ever seen. The writing becomes some of the most low-IQ, harebrained, nonsensical plotting I've ever watched, and pretty much every character that was built up in Season 1 gets character-assassinated in the process. Nunalee, Suzaku, and virtually everyone else aren't spared from it, and the plot starts making so little sense that there are entire three-hour YouTube videos dedicated to explaining just how bad…

I've watched a lot of things and this is genuinely one of the worst things I've ever seen. I've never left a review online for anything but this was so bad that I just had to say something. I cannot comprehend how ANYONE can call this a 10/10. If it was only a few people then who cares but it's SO many people that say that this anime and specifically Lelouch are peak fiction. The entirety of season 2 was such a pain to watch. If it wasn't for my friend that I was watching this with I would have dropped the anime. Lelouch and specifically Susaku are 2 of the worst anime characters I've ever seen. They make no sense, have no idea what they're actually even doing and can't use their powers/abilities properly. I will never watch this again, I will never recommend this to anyone and I'll gladly…

(Covering both s1 and s2) This is THE greatest anime I watched. I was looking for an anime to watch and this was one of the anime I randomly stumbled across, and now this is my favorite anime and none can genuinely convince me any anime is better (my personal opinion). Season 2 was honestly the best thing I watched, 10/10 opening, 10/10 ending song. 10/10 story writing, 10/10 plot, 10/10 character design, 10/10 everything. This anime has everything an anime needs. Lelouch is genuinely the best war strategist. I watched so many anime where things were way too predictable, I know what's gonna happen. But for this I was left shocked so many times. Also to mention that I never rewatch any anime but this is the only anime I rewatched so many times. Recommending this to those that watched aot, d…

(Spoiler Free) This is the first time I've felt conlficted writing a review, especially on an anime as beloved as Code Geass. Stepping from the climax of season one into the second and ultimate season of Code Geass, I had incredibly high hopes: I've heard nothing but praise for this show, and the general ratings for Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 ought to speak for itself- or so I thought. (Very Minor Spoiler) I feel as though the start of R2 completely spoilt the climax of R1. After the intense and emotional ending to the previous season- which was left on a jaw-dropping cliffhanger, I could barely contain myself to watch the next episode to see how it all unfolded. Instead, the premiere episode of season two reverts into a slice-of-life medium for a large portion of the episod…

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 delivers an absolutely bogus and heavily contrived ending that completely derails the narrative. For the majority of the series, the parents saga was incredibly compelling, well-written, and gave the story a fascinating philosophical edge. I have absolutely no idea why the writers took the plot in the direction they did for the finale; it feels utterly absurd. Lelouch’s ultimate solution to the world's conflicts is completely unearned and illogical, making it obvious that the cycle of history and violence will inevitably just loop over time, rendering his massive sacrifice entirely pointless in the grand scheme. Honestly, the parents had the right idea all along for achieving true resolution. Because of this frustrating and disappointing debacle, I a…

This is the most bullshit season to a show ever lmao, I was very entertained by the end because the rubbish came full circle and the mecha fights were awesome, but wow this thing has so much crap. I still can't help but admire the insane ambition here. The whole point by the ending episodes was "lets just make everyone fight everyone, lets just do whatever the fuck here". This whole season unlike the previous one has downtime issues, there are sequences of episodes where virtually no real plot progression takes place and there are times when the story has zero cohesion and coherence. This season isn't well written and consists of boring subplots and fan service for a good majority of its length. The first 10 episodes go nowhere, the fake brother Rolo and his whole arc is stupid and his w…

(This review will cover both R1 and R2) Code Geass is a masterpiece through and through. Lelouch Lamperouge is one of the greatest protagonists in all of anime, and is incredibly compelling in his motivations and thought. Code Geass at its core is about contradictions, themes, love, care, hate, revenge and the sins of humanity all in one amazing package that you just simply can't ignore. The story is tightly packed with amazing pacing, and is in depth and thought out to a large extent. The plot twists and turns in this anime are simply bewildering. The story feels very authentic in its artstyle, animation, inspirations and message, and conveys that sense of 2000s perfection that I did not know I craved before i watched the series. The characters all feel very human in their thought, motiva…

Code Geass is an anime that I tried to watch on several occasions, but for some unknown reason I always gave up. It is an anime that I enjoyed from the first to the last episode—briefly put, a masterpiece that I regret not having watched earlier. The art style of Code Geass is outstanding and I thoroughly enjoyed it, though that doesn’t mean it will appeal to everyone. The characters are also excellent, with significantly more development in the second season than in the first. The story is exceptional, and I have absolutely no complaints about the anime as a whole I recommend it to everyone without exception, a rating of 10/10. (The final episode of the second season is absolutely outstanding, arguably one of the best episodes ever.)

Code Geass (season 2) is actually insane from the get go. the first episode already shows a Lelouch u couldnt see in the first season I wont spoil but I was like "wait is that season two why is it so non fitting" but yea this mysterious new entrance of the character rolo threw me off like who is the brother to Lelouch why is he only introduces now I was really considering dropping cuz I was that confused but trust me DONT it all makes sense in ep2 and the after suzaku is re-introduces as one of the kings knights the plot unravels The early eps do a rlly good job setting the mood. There’s a lot of tension and mystery, and u lowkey feel like something big is always about to happen. Lelouch is still that big brain MC, always 10 steps ahead, but u also see more of his human side. He’s not jus…

My all-time favorite anime ever. Lelouch is the greatest protagonist in anime, a person who makes mistakes and learns from them, a person who kills the innocent and protects the innocent, a person who is so full of pride and ego yet so full of love and care. He feels truly human. He isn't a pure-hearted goodie-two-shoes, but he isn't absolute evil either. Every action he takes is both for himself, his friends, and his family. He himself is a contradiction, just like the masks he continuously puts on in front of others to hide his true nature. He is both good and evil, the perfect anti-hero protagonist. And in the end, he sacrifices everything in order to make the world a better place, a world without him in it. All Hail Lelouch Vi Britannia, the 99th Emperor of Britannia and the greatest…

This season has a lot more going on than R1. The story is incredible and the plot twists throughout this are incredible. This season also had me much more emotionally invested than the first season had me. It hits your emotions at lot harder with all the things that are happening throughout it. Also, the ending here was FIRE. It was a great way to wrap things up and left me feeling very satisfied about having watched the whole thing. The only reason that this doesn't get a 10 is because I still had some questions left unanswered. I looked up a lot of things afterwards and got some answers, but other things I didn't get an answer for, though they were overall insignificant, nothing huge. If you liked R1, I do believe that you will like R2. I feel like unless you give both seasons a 10, yo…

Disclaimer: This review WILL contain spoilers. If you haven't seen this series and don't want to be spoiled, do not read this review. With the spoiler warning out of the way, this is my review on both seasons of the original Code Geass series: Code Geass is my favorite anime of all time and after all these years, I still regard this series to be a timeless masterpiece. I watched it for the first time back in 2011 and to this day, this series continues to stick with me for many reasons. Not only is it a very deep and thought-provoking show but everything from the story, character development, plot twists, cliffhangers, and the ending are masterfully executed. I will break down my thoughts on the story, characters, animation, sound, a few minor nitpicks I had with the show, and conclude wi…

After finishing S1, my expectations for S2 were sky-high, but the show didn’t quite deliver in terms of logic. Right at the start of S2, Lelouch has his memories erased, yet instead of being tightly monitored or even executed, he’s allowed to live freely at an academy? And when he regains his memories, it happens far too easily, almost unconvincingly. The political and military events also feel inconsistent. For instance, Lelouch manages to retake Area 11 with a ridiculously small force, even though he’s up against a massive empire. The battles this time are mostly resolved through tricks or sudden twists rather than the carefully planned strategies that made S1 so brilliant. The first half of S2 introduces many new characters, but almost none of them are developed meaningfully. Take Ro…

Overall: 10/10 Story: 9 | Art: 9 | Sound: 9 | Character: 9 | Enjoyment: 10 R2 is escalation and payoff from R1's greatness. The board expands (geopolitics, myths, and masks), the stakes go existential, and the show commits to an endgame that reframes the entire narrative. Yes, it opens with contrivance (the reset), and mid-series pacing spikes hard—but the finale (Zero Requiem) is one of the cleaner thematic closures in mainstream anime: authorship of history, burden of sovereignty, and the price of peace. What worked • High-stakes systems play: Nations, cults, and corporations feel like actors with incentives; Lelouch adapts from guerilla tactics to statecraft. • Thematic closure: The ending isn’t just twist; it’s coherent political myth-making. • Character resolution: Pride, guilt, loy…

It's the greatest of all time. Everything in Code Geass is just beautifully crafted on levels that no other show has been able to replicate (no tables mentioned). Initially watching, it may feel like looking at stick bugs fight over women and cats, but not a single soul can honestly watch through the events of what transpire and use the term conclusion merchant unless their media literacy fell out of their head and stayed in Paradis. Do not let anyone try to fool you into believing this show is not one of the greats, because their dishonesty and false ridicule should be considered a cardinal sin. This is the peak of the mountain. All hail Lelouch.

My re-watch of Code Geass has ended with R2, and I've got to say, it still remains a masterpiece within the anime industry. Here's what I loved about the anime: STORY (10/10) - The first half continues the story, but re-establishes many of the world-building. Many characters are introduced, expanding the cast of the series. - Its second half, which was episodes 13 through 25 of R2, or episodes 38 through 50 of the entire series, had some of the best pacing in anime. - I'll admit, many events during the second half were very insane, but the non-stop entertainment, shocking plot twists, and exciting battles made this half the best part of the entire Code Geass anime series. - Its final story arc (episodes 22 through 25 of R2 or episodes 47 through 50 of the series), however, is one of the…

I watched Code Geass expecting something that would be on par with the top most popular animes here on MAL: be it on the basis of entertainment, plot, characters, emotional journey, anything really. Death Note and the more recent Attack on Titan are inevitable comparisons, due to various similarities among these shows and Code Geass, and those two manage to keep an above average quality consistency during their runs, even with their shortcomings. The first season of Code Geass left me optimistic: there was an interesting political plot, some good characters that could evolve, raise some questions and tell a story that would be worthy of being told. Even the subplots served, even if a little, some purpose in the world building of this story and its development in season 1. I cared about wh…

Code Geass is undoubtedly one of the most beloved shows on MAL, and unfortunately, like most of MAL’s top hits, I just do not get it. What starts as extremely compelling melodrama flanders into messily executed Jungian philosophy, messy world politics, and every single character getting shafted in season 2 EXCEPT LELOUCH! To start with, Code Geass has really good animation. Like, crazy good. Obviously any designs done by clamp are bound to slap, and slap they do. Every design is at the very least, memorable, and it’s interesting to see CLAMP design so many characters, and how they’re forced to push against their usual design tropes in an effort to make everyone standout/fit better with the shounen mecha setting. The fight animation is spectacularly done, good ol’ 2D mecha before the adve…
