After 1 year and 4 months, I finished this MASTERPIECE of anime.
This may be look very childish, but is one of the most mature and saddest animes, Kodomo no Omocha is not only a cute shoujo anime, is a masterpiece of romance and psychological animes, it shows how kids sees the adult life and their problems, Sana Kurata, the protagonist of this anime, is only an 11 year old girl, but is most mature even than adult characters of other animes, and Akito Hayama, the male protagonist, another 11 year old, is also very mature, both Sana and Hayama haves very hard problems, and the anime shows how Hayama, thank to Sana, stops being the bully of his class, and also, this anime sometimes critics the Japanese society, criticizing things like the Japanese education (in the Karate club arc), the actor…

Yeah, this show is awesome. It really comes down to it's fantastic lineup of main and secondary characters, all of them very funny and well developed. I think the series (not including the manga) takes place around the course of two years, but you see these characters and the world they live in grow pretty naturally over the course of that time. Especially our main girl, Sana, who's hyperactive and blunt with how she solves problems, but grows more mature overtime.
The show is very 90's, more so than most anime from the time period. The attitude, rapping, the style. If you've seen any of the show, you'll know. The animation is pretty lively and the art is solid throughout. The writing manages to balance surreal comedy with heart and good character drama. You see it early on as Sana and Ak…

Although I don't remember much of my early childhood, growing up in the 90s, there was a distinctive "90s feel" of youthfulness and carefree that has stuck with me my whole life. Together with well-known tragedies such the Columbine High School massacre in 1999 and the September 11th attacks in 2001, the 2000s felt a lot darker and sinister, at least to me as a kid. Of course, there have been good & bad events occurring all the time all over the world, and the 90s were probably not that radically different from the 2000s as I remember it, but I bring that all up because "Kodocha" perfectly encapsulates for me that 90s feeling.
On the surface "Kodomo no Omocha" or "Kodocha" (I'll stick with the latter cause that's what it's called in the West) seems like a lot of other generic Shoujo schoo…

Ive never written a review before, but Kodocha is so special to my heart.
If your here for a short answer-- I 100% recommend this show. It played my feelings to form something beautiful, and im positive it is for almost everyone.<3
plot- 10/10
Kodomo no omocha is about a girl named Sana Kurata, an actress, her friends, life, and akito Hayama-- the 'leader' of the boys of her class. it shows her navigating through problems caused by her job, financial issues, love life problems, toxic friends, bullying, and more. this show manages to keep itself so so entertaining, and the humor is on point, its hilarious. the filler episodes are very rare, and when they do come around, they are so funny and random that you'll know!! XD
characters- 10/10
Sana is an extremely lovable and entertaining prot…

man....i love this show. i love everything about it. i have both the official licensed polaroid cameras, and a burrucha. that being said, this is definitely not everyones cup of tea. its pretty dated, but if youre ok with the art style and like over the top slapstick humor you might like it. i love all the music in this show and its one of the few anime osts i own (the vocal collection and the bg music). im a sucker for shojo and slice of life, so im definitely biased in kodocha's favor. sana and hayama are great characters - sana especially bc i can easily see her character being annoying but at least imo she never was. its a (mostly) lighthearted series ab kids being kids, and also babbit.

Man, I watched this WHOLE show when I was a child and had so much nostalgia with it.
If you like shows that are short and cute, along with a slice of comedy, I would suggest this. This show is a bit old, though it has interesting characters and tropes I never saw before. Yes, it's a shoujo anime, and it's main plotline is love, however there's a lot of comedy that goes with it.
The main character was strong headed, though I liked that. She had flaws that fit her well. The main boy, Akito, I remember not liking him at first due to his arrogance, however he grows on you and you learn about him.

It is such an amazing anime!!! I laughed soo hard and at times I cried! I felt soooo happy!
It is literally the first anime I did not skip episodes, as in most long anime I skip episodes cuz there are many filler episodes , but I did not skip any episodes in this anime!! That awesome it was!!!
At first it is a bit boring but as you see more you will start loving this anime..
To see the ending I even read the manga [ which i never do, I only see anime] The manga as usual was AMAZING!!!
What I mean to say that this anime is a…

I highly recommend this anime to those who enjoy comedies and drama related romances. My review does contain spoilers and very bias opinions so please forgive me if you think my opinion was a little too much.
I recently watched this anime and it was such a emotional ride for me. In the beginning of the anime, the storyline was pretty good although Sana's voice could be a little overbearing. I had no problem with the art style and i actually enjoyed it. The romance was going steady and there was a lot of times where i just cracked up laughing. I loved the relationship between Sana and Akito but all good things come to an end at one point, and it was middle school. When Fuuka was introduced in the anime, I seemed to dislike her. She was very similar to Sana (too similar) and it set off some…

I was to be honest quite amazed to see nobody having reviewed this anime before. Kodomo no Omocha was one of the most confusing, yet likeable animes I ever watched. While the story in itself wasnt confusing atall, it starts out at one place.. and ends up taking you to a whole other track than what you had been expected the anime to take you to.. I'd call it a masterpiece, as its nothing short of a masterpiece... I will be writing a spoilerless review...
Kurata Sana is a young girl who also happens to be a teenage idol... wideknown for her radient personality and cute looks, she lives with her mother which also happens to be an author... Sana attends school like any other person, and has friends that she likes to be around, However aside of that she is also widely known and has some other…

Kodocha was the first anime ive watched, I watched it because it was in the public library. I was so sad it ended on a cliffhanger, but when i found the manga, i was more than happy. The anime catches the funny moments really well, maybe even better than in the Manga. I think near the end, the anime drifted from the original plot, so maybe thats why it ended. The art style isn't amAzing, but its neat since it was made in the 90s. Im really glad i watched and finished, this anime first. ANYWAYS, its incredible, made me cry, highly reccommend.

If you're like me with too much time on your hands and is looking for a good story, you've come to the right place.
I don't think it's possible to compare this show to anything that exists, either in anime or other mediums. I see that Gakuen Alice is recommended most, but it's a very surface-level recommendation, can't say I would say the same. Although the characters are elementary school kids, it doesn't make their struggles any less relatable than other age. And despite its quirky and fun first appearance, there lies deeper themes that become dark and twisted should they be handled incorrectly. Not all youth shines bright, not all wishes are granted, and not everything works out as intended.
Story (9/10):
As a whole, it's good. However, and I'll gripe about this continuously, it dif…

Before I start, I'll just say this anime/manga has been my favourite thing since I was 11 years old. A good 8 years now.
Story: It follows Sana Kurata, an energtic girl with a pure heart and fierce soul. Her rival/best friend, Akito Hayama and all of her family and friends through her own challenges and events of growing up. You get a feel of character growing and helping one-another. While she doesn't have a typical life you'll still enjoy this. 10/10
Art- I love old styled anime in general, but the art here is my *all* time favourite. Simple, but beautiful. Sana happens to share my hair and eye colour which is rare thus it adds bonus for me.
Sound - I've lit. all 102 episodes. Always do. ALL music is wonderful. From scenes to endings. Anything. Some of you may need an ep to three to…

DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT JUDGE THIS SHOW BASED ON IT'S ARTWORK. The art makes this anime look like it is another shoujo with real cutesy and fun characters and plot. I assure you, that is not the case. In fact, this anime is all but that. I have judged this anime before even giving it a try and I'm so sad I haven't seen it earlier. Now, that been said, I can review it.
Story 10/10
The story follows Sana, a middle school student, who is also an actor in variety shows etc. ( read the synopsis xD ) Now what makes the story great is the fact that this show deals with some serious life problems and relationships between various people, be it family members, love interests or friends. It is also a show that portrays growing up exactly the way it is. The comedy is good, the drama is amazing. T…

Even though this anime is pretty old its still one of the best I've seen, there's drama, comedy and romance. also one of the best English dub ever!
Storyline: i find the storyline to be really engaging and fun to see. We follow the life of a child star Sana, and let me tell you there is a lot going on but its not overwhelming, it follows really well, we also see the lives of the people around Sana. We watch them grow and we root for them. and yes there is romance but its not the cringy type. where we just roll our eyes. its a romance that happens slowly because well their kids still. the pacing is good and yes there are filler episodes but its fine and fun to watch
Characters: for me the characters are the best. A character is what pulls me in the story. and Sana is character that i love…

After my re-watch of Toradora which anime that I strongly recommend I decided to look for some more romance anime on the net. while I was browsing the net looking for romance anime to watch my friend recommend me another great romance comedy called Kodocha and he told how great it was. Then I decided to go to Amazon.co.uk and decided to blind buy the series but I couldn't because it was out of print in the US and the whole series would cost me £100+ pounds. One month later something hilarious happened. Despite this show being out of print for a long time, some seller on Amazon was selling the first 6 single DVD volumes of the series for £20 pounds while an eBay seller was bidding season 2 (Episodes 25-51) for £6 pounds.
I am sure that the sellers didn't know how rare and valuable the seri…

So I was watching Kodocha up to about halfway and I had a blast!! it's one of those anime's that just keeps you wondering what happens next, I was thinking about the show as I slept at night. At this time I would've gave it it a 10. But upon completing it I was rather disappointed so I had to lower it a bit.
First things first, I went into this anime expecting some real deal romance, thinking 102 episodes should be enough to bring on some real development. So if you're going into this anime for that, I don't recommend it, it's as slow paced and dragged as a 12-24 episode typical shoujo anime in this day. Note it is also involve love triangle/squares. The annoying thing about this anime is they lead you on with the romance, right when it you think it's going somewhere... the anime is diver…

Okay so first thing's first, Kodomo no Omocha or 'Kodocha' for short is an anime that goes over lots of topics, and successfully manages to get the main point into people's easiest understanding. The events that happen through-out this anime is true to life and does not go easy on the drama, it isn't afraid of venturing in to what might truly happen and that is what I find amazing.
Story [9/10]
I absolutely enjoyed the whole story. The plot was great, and how it started out was magnificent. It had that easy feel and after a whole lot of episodes it slowly drags into more important things, as to why Sana became a child actor, what were the advantages and disadvantages of that life, and others that are better said and showed in the actual anime. The transition from easy-going to the melanc…

I watched Kodocha as a kid and I was really hooked into it back then. I remember having this huge crush on Akito back in the days lol. After so many years, I decided to watch it again and read the manga (which I don't know how many times I've read because of how good it is)
Story: 7/10
After re-watching the anime, I realized that it's not really as great as I thought it was. The first 15 episodes was really good because of the plot and I like the whole drama between Sana and Akito's love story. What I didn't like about this anime..is how they made it look like a kid show and how they put so many fillers that doesn't even make sense or doesn't have anything to do with the story.
Art: 7/10
The anime look so old and dark during the first half of the series but it improved a lot during the s…

words cannot describe how I feel about this anime honestly.
I first watched this anime in 2010 and whenever I feel sad or need a laugh or just want to pass time, this is the show I come too. mind you that this was produced in the late 1990s so the art isn't topnotch but I swear if you give it a chance you'll fall in love with it like I did.
it's a slow-paced show that deals with things anyone could relate too; growing up, falling in love, and making important decisions; it really gives you a chance to think and admire everything about it and life.
long story short, this anime is perfection and you should watch it.
