The Anthem of the Heart

The Anthem of the Heart

Introduction

Jun Naruse is a chatterbox whose life is colored by fairy tales and happy endings. However, influenced by her deep belief in those tales, she is too naive and trusting, and her words soon shatter her family's bond when she inadvertently reveals her father's affair. Naruse is scarred for life after being blamed for her parent's divorce, and her regrets soon manifest into a fairy egg—a being who seals her mouth from speaking in order to protect everyone's happy ending. Now, even in high school, Naruse's speech remains locked by the fairy egg. Even trying to speak causes her stomach to twist. Though unable to convey her thoughts through words, she is unexpectedly chosen to perform in a musical alongside three other students: Takumi Sakagami, Natsuki Nitou, and Daiki Tasaki. Naruse makes her way to the club room to reject the daunting task, but changes her mind when she overhears Sakagami's beautiful singing. Perhaps the fairy egg "curse" does not apply to singing, and perhaps Sakagami is the fairy tale prince she has been seeking all along. Will Naruse be able to convey the anthem of her heart? Have you ever thought about how your words can hurt others, even if it was not your original intention? The scar you've given them once can never properly heal again. Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda is the portrayal of such a realization. Naruse Jun, a very talkative girl whose mouth knows no bounds, never cared for the consequences her words could bring. She finally faced the reality through the harsh incident of her family breaking apart. Then a mysterious phenomenon occurred, and she wished for her mouth to be sewn to prevent further casualties, locking away the ability to properly express herself ever again. Our main character had faced something similar(although not the exact one), and I love how he tried to help Narisu as he saw his own despair in her. This show had four main casts, a…

You know those generic school dromcoms about the cast putting on a meta play? This wants to be The Little Mermaid with a meta story of The Little Mermaid inside it (not to mention that the story framework of Anthem of the Heart is shamelessly derivative of Whisper of the Heart). The crux of the movie's premise falls to watching assholes abuse a child in the most suspension of disbelief breaking nonsense way possible to which the child just accepts it as completely reasonable/true... Not a great start to a story. And this event of abuse is never addressed again despite the narrative attempting a character redemption of 1 of the abusers while brushing the underlying issues and abuse aside as totally fine (the other abuser ceases to exist). Jeez. There's an entire barely connected sports su…

"From the creators of Ano Hana". That's all I needed to hear to be convinced to watch it. If you're the same, enjoy. If not, guess I’ll keep talking. I've seen so many anime with a shy/silent character. I always tend to gravitate towards those characters because I often see myself the most in them. Because that's who I've been throughout most of my life. But very rarely do they ever explain HOW they turned out this way. They're often depicted as just shy for the sake of being shy. And the reason why all the other characters magically center their entire lives around them... it could just be done as a hopeful wish of the creator/viewer. To one day be in that same scenario in which people will want to be with you as you are, despite your inability to speak up. Because I've lived these thing…

I like a lot of Mari Okada's work including Anohana, Maquia and O Maidens in Your Savage Season. However, I came out of "The Anthem of the Heart" with very mixed feelings. It is a high school drama that feels a bit half-baked. The drama mostly revolves around the main girl, Jun Naruse, who cannot speak because of an event that occurred in the past. This is an interesting premise but the problem is that this is not the main focus as much as it should. Instead, we have a lot of romance subplots with other supporting characters that just aren't developed enough. The third act and even the ending felt incredibly forced as well. I do give props for not being predictable and being a decent message but the execution is kind of poor. This premise feels like it would be better as an anime series…

It's been a long while since I last watched Anthem of the Heart but, I'll try to write a decent review out of it. Story wise, it's nothing out of the ordinary but, it does has it's own charm. The representation of growth within the borders of lies and youth was what I'd say interesting the most. I also appreciated the fact where it shows not the typical romance trope which truly brought out the slice-of-life in the whole story. The characters and their relationship development didn't feel forced which makes it a refreshing show to watch. So, if you're looking form something inspiring and fantastical approach to slice-of-life. I'd definitely recommend watching Anthem of the Heart.

Truly a criminally underrated anime, I loved every part of it. Me personally I loved A silent voice, so this anime really hits it for me. The sound tracks are amazing, especially in the musical. And combined with the climax of the story, it truly makes it all so magical and just perfect. The way that this anime portrays trauma, communication and reconciliation resonated with me long after watching it. Although some people didn't quite like the ending, I actually would've enjoyed this either way because of all the building leading up to it (unlike josee that just introduced romance out of no where). This anime is one of the best animes that I've seen, and I firmly encourages you all to give it a try.

Some of us aren't able to speak. Some of us had these huge walls to prevent someone to get in. The question is, how high can you climb your walls to reach out to others? How long will you be able to close your heart, when it's inevitable for someone to get in? Kokoro ga Sakibetagatterunda. is a 2015 romantic drama film produced by A-1 Pictures, with the story conceived by Mari Okada. From the writer of drama stories like AnoHana, Nagi no Asukara, Toradora, Maquia, and many more. Honestly, the movie impressed me in some ways. The moral of the story and the symbolism it had. So the story revolved around a girl named, Jun Naruse. She was a chatterbox when she was a child until a magical egg sealed her ability to speak. It was because she saw his father having an affair with some other woman…

would have rated higher if my clown self didn't decide to watch it at 12 AM when i could have been eating, sleeping, literally anything else. i'd def reommend tho, the main cast is pretty lovable, and the story doesn't disappoint. i liked how they explained the beginning at the end, as it was a bit confusing. also, i liked the MC's hair. no reason, it's just pretty cute. Naruse's voice is also pretty cute. i don't know who walked into the business meeting and decided "hey, let's write an egg as one of the main characters." enjoyable and entertaining, nonetheless. (SPOILERS!!!) I was highly mad how i sat there for so long staring at the screen only for sakagami to really go "haha, sike, i still love my ex." i mean it's ok, Naruse deserves way better than him anyways.

This is coming from a recommendation so I decided to watch it myself and I left with a positive experience. The film does a good job in telling the story though at times it does drag on a little I still found the experience to be enjoyable. However, this does not mean that I was kept constantly asking for more. It took at least one hour for me to actually start to get invested into these characters. A lot of the time I felt like it was a lot of heavy talking but I struggled to find what was really driving the movie forward. Needless to say I still enjoyed the final act as it fulfilled what I thought it did best. It does a great job of telling an average story and turning it into an enjouable experience. As long as you don't give much thought into the plot the rest of the components will…

This movie is a mix of common tropes and dialogue with goofy psychological scenes and trauma. This presents a unique package and tone. I think that if you love this movie you love it for its unique feel. For me, it felt like this show did not present a cohesive story, cohesive character development, or a cohesive tone. Instead of coming off as an interesting new take, it comes off as a poorly executed mish-mash of incongruous ideas. I would have liked this better if it either stuck with a predictable plot or went completely unique. Without spoiling, I don't think this movie is clever enough for the plot twists it employs. More specifically, it doesn't sufficiently set this up. Thus, instead of getting the shock of realization that was in front of my eyes the whole time, or the dramatic…

If you want to watch an anime with plots that blow your brain then you should watch this anime but if you want to keep your brain than don’t: The first start of this anime is quite good because of the pain that main character Jun has to suffer but i don’t like the egg thing because it’s nonsense they just could let her like feel guilty and swear to herself that she will never speak too much to hurt people around her In the middle part i really feel Jun and Takumi are connecting to each other, they have the same situation and have their own pain that make them don’t want to make it happen again and i almost feel Nito and Tazaki might get together because they are all the loser in love BUT the end fucked everything The end is fucked up because it turn Jun into a brat and Takumi into a…

first of all this a good movie for teen drama, but there is a reason why it's not a masterpiece the only well thought out character is the female lead while the male lead doesnt feel like his own person at all, it's like he just there so the story can work. the half baked trope that halt each other progress and the buildup that keep being stoppped and swiped away and sudden explosion at the end, it's just, done poorly this story has a very good premise and plot, and i like the closure too but the execution is rather poor and inhibit from showing its full potential, could me next masterpiece but it is what it is. just another good teen drama would like to give this 8 out 10 but for the premise alone but the execution,, welp i guess its acceptable

I cringed a bit and couldnt understand some of the metaphors.I really like Takumi has a cool and dark backstory and knows that he isnt meant for Nasure. The pacing is good. There are some great moments. This anime shows that words can hurt people mentally. Theres good drama between all the cast.Tasaki is awesome.I didint like how the whole play was just about the girl.I liked the scene where she starts hurting Takumi with words.Takumi and his ex is a bit confusing. I like how there wasnt an Egg just her Def should rewatch!! One of the first anime movies I dont have a pacing problem with. Everything that happened with her dad really messed her up psychologically. It's really sad. Wish they couldve met again. I love how the main character deals with this tho

The anime starts with girl, she cant speak. She is loner and has no friends. We find out she has bad parents and she has only mom She later is popular and gets the ability to speak again. And thas basiclly it. Yeah that is the whole anime, 2 hours spent on figuring why the girl has bad speaking. While on the way she meets sportboy and boy and girl and they hang out and the sport boy really is the shine here cus overall he evolves the most here. I do not really remeber the 2 other but, the sport guy. I really liked the sport guy, how in the start he stays to himself, and does not really care for nobody but, himself. And at the end he opens up and transfroms into a whole new person. Other than that i really have nothing to say. To say i enjoyed this is also a bad statement. It is li…

I would suggest to not really focus on romance in this movie, most people hate the ending, but I didn't think much of it mainly because I thought more of what the MC was going through, and her journey to express her feelings. I still did disliked the romantic part of the ending, but I didn't really care. Naruse hardly ever talked, but still the animation expressed her emotions really well, and I understood how she felt. The other characters were fine though, It showed how they trusted each other and worked things out. The flaws are small, they are there but small, but the movie is far from being bad. Watch it, stop thinking of who should've been shipped with who, just enjoy Naruse speaking from her heart.

I don't think it's amazing but damn if I didn't enjoy every second of it. Definitely not what I expected. Maybe this is a bit harsh but this would be a good movie to watch as a couple because it has a lot of accidentally funny moments to make fun of but will probably make you cry all the same. A lot to talk about. Ironically I don't HAVE much to talk about but basically I think it was kinda cringey and some designs and frames here and there were funny looking or awkward BUT that is something that is so charming about it. You can laugh, it doesn't feel like a crime. All my favorite crying sessions have a couple laughs here and there lol. And underneath all the stuff that's hard to take seriously you can't help but feel somethin' deeper. It's sweet and keeps you guessing. You'll accidentall…

"The Anthem of The Heart" What an interesting and beautiful title it has. [STORY (7)] A beautiful and heart-touching story. With the help of good build up to the character and a perfect set up. We already knew what caused the problem with Jun. We feel that pain, that suffering, that wound. We know her trauma when people around you get hurt with the words you said, when you always messed things up, when people hates you because your own self. Sadly, for me there were things that seems went off with this story. I expected the story and the resolution would be a lot more emotional cause this story was just so beautiful and painful. When you release that pain and comes to overcome your fear, your trauma, it has to be something that very powerful. This story based on her parents' past so I ex…

I watched this because I had some time on my hands. I had never heard of it before and had no clue what is was about, I just saw it and hit play. By the end of watching it I felt truly disappointed and wasted two hours. In a few months I will definitely forget about this anime and gladly at that. At no point in time in this anime was I ever truly invested and the whole time watching it I just kept thinking, it might get better, it might be worth it, and by the time I realized it was not going to, I did not have time to start anything new and kept telling myself that there wasn't much left and that I should just finish it (leaving things unfinished generally bothers me.) Honestly I wish I had just stopped watching it. Pros: the animation was really pleasant and cute, I enjoyed the sound. T…

I can't believe more people aren't talking about this movie. This is my first time writing a review so bear with me. I really enjoyed the story and rather complex characters. The music was very beautifully composed and perfectly fitted the narrative. I really liked the backstory of both Jun and Takumi, which was beautifully portrait through the art and some of the musical elements. The dynamic between Characters was at times very funny and pretty relatable. Even until the very ending it stayed pretty innocent and pure. It was a well spent two hours so anyone whose got the time should just go for it and watch it. I pretty much really liked everything even though it was kinda cliche but honestly I couldn't care less for that. I mean thats what I signed up for didn't I?
