This anime is a cozy slice-of-life series centered on a fox-girl named Yuzu, who begins working at a hot spring inn located in a city that exists between the living world and the spiritual realm. While this anime does fall into the shoujo ai genre, the romance is not the main focus of the story, so if you're looking for a more romance-centric story, you're not going to find it here. Like many slice-of-life anime, each episode tells a self-contained story rather than having an overarching plot.
As for the characters, the main cast doesn't stand out from other slice-of-life anime characters other than the fact they're fox-girls. The main character Yuzu has unwavering optimism and often provides a positive outlook on different situations that the main cast find themselves in, which makes her…

I watched Konohana Kitan. Here are my thoughts:
The characters are kind of bland but there is good chemistry among the cast. Some of the character designs are cute, and there are some nice kimono outfits. The show has a fairly rich traditional-Japan theme, and primarily takes place at a large rustic ryokan. Most of the characters are so-called ‘fox girls’ who are ryokan employees. The fox girl thing is mildly cute but it's not a major reason for my watching the show, although I'd imagine there is a passionate audience out there for this kind of thing. There are some mild supernatural themes that creep into the show at times as well. This anime often feels like it has a surreal dream-like atmosphere.
Art style during some scenes is nice. Colour is used well. The background in some frames…

Yuzu, a young fox girl, is found Frozen in the snow as a very young girl by a Sister I'm a remote mountain area. As she grows into a young girl, she develops necessary work ethic and outlook on life to work at Konohanatei, a hot springs hotel that exists in the hills between the mortal realm in the realm of the gods. She experiences many spiritual and mystical things through guests and new staff, which helps her grow and find family.
This is an interesting and fantastical story for the largely female cast. Regretfully, it falls into the same trope as you see in a lot of other young female dominated shows. A very young, innocent and naive girl shows up to a difficult or conflicting situation, one that's not always happy, yet she's so oblivious that it makes everybody happy, smile and caref…

This review contain a couple of incredibly minor spoilers on the details of two episodes. I needed point out those events so this weird review would can make some sense.
It's been a while since I saw an anime that hides its gold so deep. First 3 episodes of Konohana Kitan feel like a patience challenge. Reminds me of some Buddhist stories where a monk would let his aspiring student stand outside the temple for a couple weeks in the cold and heavy rain in order to test his resolve. Except here you have to endure the first 3 episodes that are guaranteed to push a lot of people away. Especially if you have something else to do. Characters just kinda fuss about with no plot and acting terribly generic. It gives every possible sign this is going to be completely forgetable. The first 3 episod…

Konohana Kitan's a really weird show because we know right away what the show's basis was suppose to be. My problem is that they don't do enough with it.
Story: Konohana Kitan tells us the story about an inn, Konohanatei, that exists between the boundaries of the world of the gods and the world of the living. Yuzu, whose just starting out as a staff member, joins our cast to help run this mysterious inn. Many of the episodes are setup to allow us to see how our cast helps each patron - whether its helping them with their problems or just making sure they have a good time. The story honestly isn't much to take in because of the nature of this genre - Slice of Life. We basically get to watch how each unique guest interacts with our main crew. Some do have better stories than other, but ther…

Would love to give this anime a 10 but I'll keep it at a 9 for now. It is one of those anime I went just wanting to see you know, cute girls doing cute stuff because who doesn't love fox girls right? They are so freaking adorable! Basing off the cover you would assume it's just one of those adorable anime and on the surface you are right. But this anime is so so much more than just cute fox girls. It has a lot of different stories within the main story or the main concept. Finding a place to call home...
It can be brush aside as a bunch of meaningless stories but when you get to the end and if you were paying attention, it tells a very beautiful story overall. I think it's worth a watch for those who love just heart warming stories. This is pretty wholesome in itself too. I enjoyed every…

Konohana Kitan is a fantasy, slice of life from Lerche based off of a manga. So, the studio behind Danganronpa and Given. The original manga was written by Amano Sakuya, who I'm not familiar with. But it's fantasy month, so let's take a look and see what they have to offer.
Story:
Yuzu is a kitsune who was raised by a priestess. In order to help her grow, she's sent to work as an attendant at Konohanatei, a hot spring inn used by Gods and all manner of beings straight out of folklore. At the inn, she quickly develops a blatantly romantic interest in Satsuki, another of the attendants. The anime follows the pair of them as well as the other girls working at the Inn as they have interesting encounters.
The only real "flaw" of the series is that it is highly episodic. For a lot of the ep…

General Vibe
I started watching konohana kitan fully expecting it to be a cgdct (cute girls doing cute things experience) but I got a bit more than that. Its a very heartwarming show that manages to get you emotional while being wholesome 100% of the time. If you like wholesome slice of life shows like New Game, this is a great anime to watch.
Story: 7
To be honest, there isn't much of a real plot to the anime as a whole, which is to be expected of an SOL in this day and age, but that doesn't mean its not above average.
Its a story about a young fox-girl that just got a job at a hot spring hotel along with other fox-girls.
-Each episode is its own self-contained story that comes with new characters. These new characters are interesting in their own way and give the world of konohana kita…

Konohana Kitan (2017)
All you really need to know about this show is simply that its Cute Fox Girls Do Cute Things.
The show is really heartwarming and relaxing to watch. It gives off a really nice chilled out vibe. There are moments of excitement but it all comes back to the relaxation of the show.
Yuzu our protagonist was raised by a human in a shrine after being found frozen in the wilderness. She grows up in a small mountain community very isolated and is very low of knowledge of the rest of the world she lives in. She is a lovely character who is someone you care for deeply during the show.
The other fox girls all fill in nice tropes but in the best way possible. If you read the manga you see all the girls are paired up with basically their romantic partners. It is a Shoujo Ai…

"Cute fox girls doing cute things."
Konohana Kitan is the literal definition of "cute girls" and "kitsune". Similar to Hanasaku Iroha, but more cute, moe girls that'll make you want to protect them at all cost. There are also some traces of Shoujo Ai, but not to the point where a borderline scale is needed.
This anime is just relaxing and fun to watch, there's not too much pressure. And in every episode, you get this "comfortable" feeling of pretty much cute, fox girls working. Absolutely fantastic.
Story : 10/10
The story is pretty much cute fox girls doing cute things.. That's about it.
Art : 10/10
At first before I watched this anime, I thought the art would me mediocre. But after watching the first episode.
I think I'm blind now.
Sound : 10/10

It took way too many episodes for the show to get good, the best episodes being 8/11/12, I didn't even see a glimpse of why people liked it so much until I watched those.
The biggest downside in the early parts, for me, was the way the show was adapted from manga to anime. Some parts felt drawn-out and other parts felt very awkward due to failure to recapture the scenes from the manga properly.
The story is build by smaller tangent stories, that don't build towards a specific finish, it's actually very open ended. Some of the tangent stories where very forgettable.
There were some good shots that used shadows in a very pleasing way near the end of the show. Whenever the moon appeared, it was very well drawn.
I found very strange the lack of good animation for the episode with the weav…

This show is self care for the soul.
There's not any real overarching plot or tension or anything like that; just a bunch of cute wholesome episodic events taking place at an inn for mystical creatures. The central focus of the show is the Konohanatei inn itself and the attendants that work at it. A basic understanding of classical Japanese mythology seriously helps with understanding the context and lore behind the various entities and deities that show up at the inn and live in the surrounding towns, but isn't necessary to appreciate the show. With a few exceptions, most of the episodes have two mini-arcs focusing on a guest and often one or two of the attendants. The main character, Yuzu, is the focus attendant in most of these but in truth this is an ensemble cast and everyone gets go…

Hiya! The 50th Robert's Too Late Reviews has arrived! And this time we have such a darling show to talk about. I absolutely adored my time with the fox girls of Konohana Kitan (as is my tradition, the dubbed version). It was heartwarming, funny, and very interesting with its light exploration of Japanese mythology. I recommend this series heartily for those 'go in blind' types seeing this. Will the RTLR wall of inn patrons get bigger? Lets rock this house.
Story: 8
The story isn't anything to get too excited over, as the plot has been used many different times. The poor girl basically has nowhere to go, is thrust into a job with others, and must learn not only to be a good employee, but also to find a place within the 'family'. I was instantly reminded of Kanamemo, and in a lot of ways th…

(This review has been adapted from my blog/reddit thread. Spoilers ahead!)
Circles, triangles, and rectangles begone. In Konohana Kitan, rhombuses rule as queen.
A peculiar shape, that. Some people refer to it as a diamond (hence the royalty). Others, with technical knowledge of Euclidean geometry, are quick to point out that squares are special exceptions (to said rule).
No matter which side jousts first, this anime makes two ideas clear. One, a rhombus for a mouth makes for a darn cute reaction. And two, our lives have many sides and corners to hold dear.
STORY
In the ethereal space between the land of the living and the unknown beyond, a peaceful place known as Konohanatei exists. This otherworldly resort promises its guests serene views, relaxing environments, and fox-girl attenda…

This anime was really quite the journey. I did not expect to enjoy it as much as I did, given it is the first anime I have watched where it's a female cast of animals. This was something I was meaning to avoid altogether since I believed they always pandered to fan service. And, well, Konohana Kitan still does to some extent, every instance of the girls taking a bath is usually never that risqué in a way where you feel uncomfortable due to how emotionally deep each of these scenes is.
Comedy does fill the essence of this anime at times as well, though it's more lighthearted humor than it is outright hilarious; excluding a few instances in the middle and especially some bits of the last episode. If you are looking for a comedy, however, this anime will fool you into thinking it's just what…

I strongly recommend you to watch "Konohana Kitan," especially those who are interested in "yuri" culture but still hesitating to get involved with it.
I know some of you avoid "yuri" culture, saying 'I'm not interested in it,' or, 'I don't know well what is yuri.'
True, "yuri" culture is a one which is not well-recognized also in Japan. It is often misunderstood. Furthermore, even among "yuri" culture fans there are some conflicts over the definition of the term "yuri." Some says that "yuri" is equal to a term "girls' love" or "lez (shorten form of lesbians)." On the other hands, others argue a word "yuri" focuses on spirituality of girls and therefore sometimes includes friendship while sometimes excludes "girls' love." It is a confusing problem, so I won't talk about it here.

Art style and character designs is really what drew me in. Unlike some other anime and manga, this one elaborates on ALL of the characters. Characters have an amazing feel to them. On first glance I thought the series would just surround Yuzu, but instead it included all the characters. The art in this anime was flawless in my opinion. Bright, and beautiful. Some of the episodes might make you tear up because of the story. If you're looking for a nice, wholesome, slice of life anime that isn't centered around school life this might be a good fit. Yuri is hinted at through-out the series, but never really outright spoken about. Traditional Japanese themes are consistent in the series.

The story is definitely very light-fluffy shoujo-ai, although they don't really perform any action such as kissing or anything, you can see from their actions or their intentions of their feelings for each other.
As well as they author of this anime have already written manga similar to these, with the fox characteristics. which at first i thought it would be something based on the manga, the mangaka had written. But still turned out pretty good.
Like i still enjoyed the anime overall, it has a satisfying ending, as throughout the anime, it goes through everyone's backstory which very interesting, as some anime only focuses the MC.
Overall good anime, if you prefer something balance and relaxing to watch something similar to Natsume, where there's no drastic ending or end hanger, than yo…

As you walk in to the beautiful wooden building, finally at the end of your journey. Your weary feet aching for a relaxing bath, and a slight hunger is tugging at the back of your conscience. You look ahead and notice a tiny figure walking towards you, the silhouette has two triangle shapes at the top and long flowing hair waving back and forth with her every step.
The girl is now right next to you, and you can see her clearly. It's one of the attendants of this inn, but also a fox complete with fangs, tail and tiny ears on top of her head covered with wheat coloured hair. Before you can speak a single word the fox-girl bows politely and exclaims: 'Welcome to Konohanatei!'.
Hopefully that beginning paragraph gave you a bit of an idea of what to expect from Konohana Kitan. And if not then…

Konohana Kitan was a warm moe anime that talk about different folklore of Japan which it was nice to watch.
The anime's story is the strongest point it has, due to the different tales it talks about and the plot twists that develops throughout the series. It was a pretty cute anime and sometimes it seems kind of boring and slow, but at the end of the day is nice. the art and animations was very good in a simple manner but nothing to stand out and at times it didn't seem constant. I honestly couldn't like the characters or their voices, they seem weird to me, which made harder to watch the anime. I personally didn't love it nor hate it the anime and I cannot say I enjoy it to some extent.
I recommend you to watch it if you are into moe anime and want to know some tales from Japan, but b…
