Liar Liar

Introduction

Hiroto Shinohara is a new transfer student to Academy Island, where games determine student rankings. The more games won, the more stars a student has, with the highest ranking being that of a Seven Star. On Hiroto's first day, he accidentally antagonizes Sarasa Saionji, the so-called Empress of Academy Island and granddaughter of the island's head director. Forced into a game fueled by misunderstandings that he somehow ends up winning, he is thrust into a major bluff where he must lie about his ranking or risk expulsion from the school and island. Fortunately, with the help of the mysterious Company headed by Shirayuki Himeji, Hiroto is not alone in his bluff. The Company will do everything in its power to help him cheat his way through the game challenges sent his way by students wanting to beat him. Though he is a One Star student, he must fight as though he is actually a Seven Star, and overcome insurmountable odds in his quest to search for a missing girl from his past. This anime is about an island where high schoolers duke it out through various games to increase their ranks. In general, there are two ways to handle anime about games. The first is to have actually intelligent battles of wit. This anime is absolutely not that. The games here aren’t particularly well-designed, but they’re workable. The problem is that the design of the games doesn’t matter much. Instead, everything comes down to what are essentially cheat abilities. These let the user do everything from changing the rules to directly controlling the opponent. Some of this is an official system that surrounds the games. However, a lot of it isn’t and involves someone hacking in and messing with things. As one would expect, this turns the games into a complete mess where the rules just stra…

Liar Liar is a great anime with nice characters and a nice world. The beginning of the story is quite impulsive and can quickly draw you into the plot, the main characters, who are the pillars of the series, work for me and the games are something that helps the story keep the pace and the plot interesting. I had a lot of trouble understanding the rules in some of the games in that quick succession, but that didn't spoil the joy of watching and I still enjoyed the games, what I liked quite a bit were some of the game twists like the one with the virus in the phone, or rather its final consequence. The first part of the series is simply amazing and fun, unfortunately the big "final" game, which takes up several episodes, was more boring for me, but I still enjoyed it relatively thanks to th…

Story This anime is shallow and relies heavily on clichés. The star system makes no sense, the school setup is flimsy, and the whole island feels like a weaker attempt at “Classroom of the Elite.” Despite that, I still had some fun watching, which is why it lands in the middle for me. The idea of bluffing and cheating your way through challenges is nice, but the lack of depth makes it forgettable. Artstyle The art is generic modern anime style with your usual cute waifus. Visuals are okay, nothing terrible, nothing impressive either. Conclusion If you’re really bored or love the school genre, you could give it a shot. Otherwise, it’s not worth your time.

I dont usually make reviews but i had to on this one, its a great watch if you dont care abt the details. Many concepts or rules were broken for the sake of the show which doesnt make much sense, not much of a problem but personally it irritates me throughout the anime. The rules to the games are well explains yet not fully explained which makes it hard to follow when someone pull out a move and suddenly its legal but as someone whos watching you had no idea, it kinda defeats the purpose of watching if don't understand what's happening. Aside from this, the art style is clean and polished, the story is quite interesting, and the characters are fairly well made. I do have to point out though, if this is ever getting a second season, i hope they focus more on the story and the characters rat…

Liar Liar is a solid anime that draws you in with its intriguing concept and well-executed art style. While not necessarily groundbreaking in terms of visuals, the animation is clean and effective, bringing the characters and their environments to life. The character designs are sharp, and the animation is fluid enough to keep you engaged during the competitive matches. The artwork is polished and fits well with the tone of the story, complementing the high-stakes atmosphere without overwhelming it. The plot revolves around a series of game competitions at a prestigious school, where students engage in challenges that are easy to follow and understand. The rules of the games are explained simply, which makes them accessible even to viewers who aren’t familiar with competitive games. This…

Animation is basic and kind of lame. It's fairly cllean, but not very detailed. Action scenes are kind of just the bear minimum, and leave a lot to be desired. Characters are often annoying and universally shallow in depth and detail. Even the somewhat likeable characters lose what little charm they had after a couple of episodes. The story is similarly empty. It lacks world building and a interesting story. A lot of occurrences are just nonsense, I win game because I win game. Pacing is average, but the miserable plot makes is feel a lot slower than it is. Voice acting is not the worst, but often grating and never impressive. In a surprise twist the op/ed are great, and the soundtrack is fine, but not particularly memorable. Overall, it's a slightly below average unpolished turd of an ani…

"Liar Liar" takes a refreshing spin on the overpowered protagonist trope, presenting a main character who, rather than possessing extraordinary strength, relies on cunning deception and mind games. The anime introduces a unique blend of cerebral action and subtle humor, deviating from the traditional emphasis on physical combat seen in many anime of the same genre. One of the standout features of "Liar Liar" is its focus on the protagonist's intellectual prowess, using clever strategies and cheating tactics to outwit opponents. This departure from the usual flashy battles provides a fresh perspective, making the anime a standout in a crowded genre. The mind games are engaging and add a layer of complexity that keeps viewers guessing, ensuring that the series doesn't fall into the predicta…

The concept reminds me of other animes where the protagonist is quite smart, although here he is not very smart. The protagonist could have more personality and leadership, although as is usual in these animes the protagonist is a shit. I like the development of games and puzzles and I think they are well done. The waifus are spectacular, one would expect nothing less. I would like a second season of the anime where we see how the protagonist gets the remaining stars of different colors that he has left to earn, as well as the appearance of new characters, friends and enemies.

The show is kinda fun to watch but it's so confusing at some points that it can ruin the experience for some people, imagine a No Game No Life but generic and with less soul. The premise is nothing new and the way they handle it makes it worse, every episode is packed with a lot of expository dialogues, specially when they have to explain their dumb plans to beat the dumb games. The characters have the same depth as a McChicken, and zero development at all, at least the character design is great. The explanation for most games is done so quickly that you can't understand a thing, and even if you understood at the beginning you cease to understand once they start revealing random deus x machina shit to get out of situations. The animation is generic, not bad nor good, just works. The so…

The only thing this anime has going for it is the opening music, which is where all 5 of my stars go. I slept through the anime itself cuz it was just so cliche and boring. While the concept is somewhat unique in anime, its basically classroom of the elite but on a $10 budget where the protagonist has wall hacks, aim bot and 900 layers of plot armour.. and a harem. I suppose just to add some extra words and in hopes of not spoiling it, I would like to add that the animation itself is not crazy, if anything its a bit poor imo. However, the artwork is pretty decent. And if you like anime girls, this may be a good one for you.. personally, I only watched it cuz the protagonist is OP as heck and I thought i'd be getting classroom of the elite or no game no life genius protagonist vibes but eh…

No game No Life but it's mediocre. Still, it was a fun watch and I got to have new waifus. Himeji, Noa and Shiina are my favs lol. Shut off your brain and enjoy the series. No game No Life is still on top but it was a fun ride. Recommended if you have nothing to watch lmao. Art style is like that one anime.. I forgot the name but there's the senpai who's masochist, junior who's a sadist and his imouto that is inlove with her brother.. step-brother... The games are a bit all around but you can enjoy it.. plot armor gooes brr.. (really prolonging this so I can submit my review)

"LIAR LIAR" Genre- School, Suspense, Game. In the hopes of finding that one person, Shinohara joins the 'Academy Island' where everything from money, respect, authority, etc. are waged in the form of games. With an infinite number of games, every student has the power to challenge others no matter their rank or class. Academy Island has the concept of 'seven stars' which means the person holding the highest amount of stars is deemed as the most powerful. And the higher your stars count goes, the higher your chances of being a target for everyone else in the academy. The anime revolves around a lie that our MC must keep up from being expelled from the school. It has a setting similar to "No Game No Life" and "Kakegurui" where our MC must play a game to prove he is the strongest and win e…

this show has an interesting premise but it is executed extremely poorly. the main character cheats and lies which is to be expected but he also has unreasonable luck which ruins immersion. the rules of any and every game can be ignored if it benefits the plot in any way whether or not it makes sense. the writers pull random abilities out of nowhere every episode that can change the rules so wildly that they might as well not exist and if needed the rules will be ignored without explanation. there is very limited romantic build up for characters in the show and most of the time any attraction between them seems forced and unnecessary. if you want something with a similar premise but properly executed I recommend classroom of the elite or tomodachi game.

Disappointingly mediocre is probably the best way to sum up this anime. Borrowing on the CoTE high-school competition formula this aims to be a little less serious and a bit more.. 'colourful'? Truth be told that's probably the best that can be said. Overall it doesn't do anything inherently wrong.. it's all just so average that after the end of 12 episodes it feels very 'meh'. The plot involves our mc typically battling through various confrontations to an underlying story (and motivation) that only briefly comes up a couple of times almost as though an afterthought. The characters whilst delivering on their roles don't really have any depth beyond their basic cliches. The dialogue is uninspiring and sequencing just plain poorly executed. Even the couple of token ecchi elements are somew…

Game is a famous theme in animation, with many hardcore fans who are proud of understanding something faster than others. To meet the expectation, novels/comics/animations in this genre have to design a flawless game with an ingenious solution. "Liar Game" is one of the best that meets this requirement. "Liar Liar" may attract those who loved "Liar Game" with its title, but they will be soon disappointed. All game is done in form of digital game, and administrator can easily manipulate game data. All the plot in this show is "when you can cheat, you win", so there is no need to design a fine game with strict rule and great strategies. Cheating is enough for Isekai, or at least with risk of losing a hand when caught.

I've seen plenty of anime in which someone challenges another to a game in order to gain status, or points from another. To name a few. Baka and Test, Classroom of the Elite, Kakegurui, even the good old Yu-Gi-Oh. And I usually like them all. However, I feel this one was poorly done. It started out good. You got new student who becomes top of the class by obtaining the liar star, by accidentally beating the best girl on the island in a game he had no idea how to play. Then has to lie about being the best to keep her secret, while also getting an advantage to figure out his own reason for why he went to the island. The art style was great. I really like how the characters look. Even the music was alright. Where it fell for me was as the story progressed they introduced new games, which n…

I'll be honest. At first I was intrigued by the premise because it seemed like the first few episodes looked like a mix of Classroom of the Elite and No Game No Life. But I was wrong. VERY WRONG in fact. The premise being that the main character has to pretend to be the strongest student is fine. Even the cheating is fine because it was necessary for him to keep up the facade and the games that were introduced along the way were intriguing enough right? Well just throw all of that out the window. Rules? What rules? Who cares about the rules of the game when there's some kind of McGuffin that suddenly gets introduced halfway or toward the end of the game that suddenly changes everything and decides the victory. Practically everyone just pulls something out of their ass and every viewer…

Let's be honest, everyone went to Liar, liar knowing what they would get. Waifu bait, some ecchi, the mlg edited trailer with air horn sfx, mind games. I started watching this show with anticipation to get entertainingly trashy show, but it turns out to be extremely boring inferior version of The classroom of the elite. The main character arrives at Island as a new student. Then, he stumbles upon the granddaughter of the director of the school he attends. Later, they decide to conduct a battle between each other and mc accidentally beats her. But he was a complete washout, and so as to save the reputation of Empress they decided to make look like she was actually defeated by the highest ranked student of school. The premise of the show is packed into the first episode, which is admittedly…

(REPOST BECAUSE REMOVED) Me: Can we get No Game No Life Season 2? Mom: We have No Game No Life Season 2 at home. Liar Liar was a frustrating watch for me.I really wanted to love it, and I will still give the Light Novels a shot, but the anime just never really got going for me. On one hand, it does have an interesting Kakegurui-eque school setting where disputes are settled through games in which cheating is allowed, hot waifus and a somewhat intriguing story. But, it ultimately falls flat due to poor animation and pacing. In a series where strategy games are important, it’s kind of important that the audience knows what the hell the rules are of the game and how they work. Liar Liar got this right sometimes, but other times I was totally lost and had no idea what was happening on scr…

The anime is amazing would recommend to anyone new to anime. There are some small plot holes in the plot but nothing too big. The ost is a banger. It's a rare genre of music for an anime opening. The artstyle is a 10/10. The character designs are very unique even though there isn't much freedom to the clothes every character is recognizable. What really got my attention is the Mc's design. When you look at him he looks nothing like a main character. The anime is very similar to kakegurui and class of the elite. Personally I love this genre of anime but there aren't many options. I would recommend to anyone wanting to get into the "game" genre (I am not sure what it is called)
