Dealing with Mikadono Sisters Is a Breeze

Dealing with Mikadono Sisters Is a Breeze

Introduction

The Mikadono sisters—Miwa, Niko, and Kazuki—stand at the pinnacle of Saika Academy as its Three Royals, renowned respectively as prodigies in shogi, karate, and theater. Unfortunately, they have drifted apart from each other due to their overwhelming dedication to their fields, effectively turning them into strangers living under the same roof. Enter Yuu Ayase, the son of the late Subaru Ayase, a legendary actress who graduated from Saika. Unlike his mother, Yuu lacks any extraordinary talent whatsoever, much to the disappointment of those who knew her. Still, he transfers to her alma mater with one quiet promise in his heart: to fulfill her final wish that he build a true and happy family. It just so happens that the Mikadono patriarch is also Subaru's longtime friend and benefactor, and he offers Yuu both a place to stay and a fresh start. Thrust into the lives of three estranged sisters who act cold toward him, Yuu may not be a genius himself, but the clumsy sincerity he brings might be what they all need to start anew. This series may look like a standard harem romance, but its heartfelt writing and charming characters give it much more emotional depth than expected. Yuu’s kindness and sincerity make him an incredibly lovable protagonist, as he becomes an emotional anchor for each sister rather than just a romantic interest. Watching him slowly break through their fiercely independent and guarded personalities, helping them overcome their struggles and open up emotionally, was truly heartwarming. The pacing gives each sister the time and care to develop, and seeing them grow closer and become a true family was one of the most rewarding parts of the series.

The only reason I'm giving this 9 instead of 10 is because I don't do extremely well with cringe cliche anime tropes. OTHER than that, this is absolute peak cinema. You can clearly see the love that went into crafting this anime. An ED for each of the girls, some nice character developments, and the humor. Honestly, there wasn't a single episode that didn't make me audibly laugh. If you are into harem anime or are just looking to have a good time (and laugh a lot) and isn't bothered too much by teeth clenching cliche anime tropes that make you cringe the f out, then give this anime a try!

This Mikadono anime is an easy recommendation for anyone that enjoys romcom anime, and don't be scared by the harem tag, because this is a wholesome story and there's almost no fanservice in this. There are a few pros to highlight, first, the pace of the story is done right : the first few episodes serve as an introduction to the story and the characters, and afterwards, there is an arc for each one of the female MC. It's neither too long or too short, every character gets its fair share of screentime, and it never gets boring because the issues are solved quickly. Another good thing is the main character, Yu Ayase. While the story in itself is common, the mc has a rather original profile : even if he is depicted as a failure at first, it doesn't fall into a stereotyped character, he's…

Review – Mikadono Sanshimai (EN) Romance: 7/10 💕 Has plenty of really sweet moments, but still feels somewhat one-sided at times. Comedy: 9/10 😂 Worked extremely well for me. Soundtrack: 7/10 🎧 Does its job nicely and is consistently present. Animation: 7/10 🎬 Decent for a romance anime. Characters: 9/10 🌟 This is where the anime truly shines. Story: 6.5/10 📖 Nothing out of the ordinary. Strengths ✅ Let’s start with the biggest highlight: the characters. Mikadono focuses almost entirely on Yu, Miwa, Niko, and Kazuki, everyone else feels more like background elements, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. All of the main characters are very charismatic and engaging. Yu stands out by not being the typical cowardly protagonist we often see in this genre. He takes initiative, is…

Let me quantify my recommendation. Yes, it is a by the numbers harem rom-com. Yes, the girls are all classic archetypes. Yes, the MC is an effeminate, small, helpless and weak, and in real life, he would not be on the receiving end of his own harem, which he is, as is expected, completely oblivious about. However, it scores points for having a big heart. Because of his own wretched existence, he is perfectly placed to empathise with the girls and the expectations placed upon them. Animation and soundtrack are very good, but the dub voice choices are a bit hit and miss, with the lack of any subtlety. As always, I simply adore Madeleine Morris as Niko. I have always loved her voice, especially as Luna in "I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivalled in The Real World, Too" Sa…

Going into this, I didn't really expect much. I wasn't going to watch it because "lol, generic harem show, amirite" but a friend wrote a positive review so I put it at the tail end of my 2025 seasonal catchup. Even when I was watching it, around 4 minutes in the first episode, I finally got an establishing shot of the 3 waifus and... I was kind of underwhelmed (which... to be fair, that's still kind of the case, I like them as characters but I'm not really attracted to any of them per se, I'll touch on that more in a little bit). I almost turned it off and put on a different show because at least I found that girl attractive. However, once I locked in (after 15 real life minutes of deliberation)... holy shit, this show actually kind of rocks? It kind of plays with the "average MC-kun…

The story is very cliché. It is about a simple, honest, goody-two-shoes boy who ends up living with three girls whose lives are pretty much devoid of kindness and familial love. Everything that happens in the story is predictable and familiar, but it was still entertaining to watch. While watching the show, especially during the first half, I often had a smile on my face, and overall it was an entertaining watch. One thing that genuinely surprised me was the comedy. I did not expect much from it, but it managed to get one or two laughs out of me. That alone is an achievement, because not many shows actually make me laugh. The strongest point of this show, in my opinion, is how good it looks visually along with its comedy. The anime looks good overall. The animation is smooth, and the cha…

This anime isn’t very popular and honestly, maybe that’s for a reason. 😅 I decided to watch it after seeing someone recommend it on Facebook (can’t remember who though, haha 😁). At first, I didn’t expect much, but I have to admit the visuals are absolutely stunning. It actually reminded me of Charlotte (2015), and turns out I was right! It’s made by the same studio, P.A. Works. I’ve always respected this studio; they clearly put a lot of effort and passion into their animation quality. That said, good visuals alone can’t carry an anime. The story is just as important and this is where my disappointment comes in. The plot isn’t bad, but it’s just too ordinary. It feels somewhat similar to Gotoubun no Hanayome, Megami no Café Terrace, or Amagami-san Chi no Enmusubi, but it doesn’t quite…

If you like The otonari no tenshi anime then this one is Highly recommended!!The story is well written,Not a cliche MC where he blushes all day long. Just a man who have to keep his mama word.He is simple, straightforward and ofcourse just mediocre with no talent but still try his best.YES he has the face but thats all. For me the confidence it self is already a talent in him and thats it yapping from me. The art style is superb.Music also fit well to the scene and bring it alive. Again if you into giggling over a stupid and sweet romance scene then,THIS IS FOR YOU.Thanks you

I like it, even better than Hayanome. All the characters really got my heart. They even made 4–5 different ending visuals for them, which shows how much effort they put into it. The writing is pretty good at first it looked like a simple fan service show, but over time we actually get to see and connect with each character. I approached this show like a joke at first because it felt kinda similar to Hayanome, but I was surprised by how different it actually is. It’s a light and easy story to enjoy, and the style fits the vibe really well.

A boy that is 17 is entrusted a final wish from his mother that died too young, to have a happy family, and because he is a minor, his new guardian is putting him in a big mansion with the 3 daughters he has, all talented geniuses and prodigies. He, even though his mother was a top tier actor, has no talents... ... that is if you don't take into account his rizz talents and good looks. You would think it is a typical romcom with multiple choices, and you're right about that, BUT, the direction and the presentation, is bring the overused cliched events to a level that, even if you know them and watched a lot of them, you'll still enjoy them and smile. At least, for me, that's how it was. I found myself smiling quite a lot during this anime, even though it is more on the cheesy side. The…

This is way better than I expected it to be. It's honestly one of the more fun romcoms I've watched recently. It really knows how to be funny and yet connect at a deeper emotional level, without getting in the way of the other. Yuu might be a a girly klutz, but his commitment to be genuinely supportive brings a chaotically positive energy that is nice to see. He's no pushover either, and that definitely catches people off guard, which is played for great effect here, especially with his occasional flashes of masculine glamour. And the idea of having basically 3 tsunderes to accompany him is certainly an inspired choice. We have the manly and independent tsundere, the tough tsundere yearning to be cute, and the cat-like "I have my own flow" tsundere (Miwa-chan my beloved). They certainly re…

Story: 5/10 You get what you'd expect from a romcom. There are mini arcs that highlight each girl and ships her with the MC. I personally believe that there's potential for a 6 in this department, but that's up to the next seasons, if they make them. Characters: 6/10 Niko is my favorite gal and I think the author did a decent job with her arc. Yuu isn't as bad as I thought in the first episode, but he's still your average harem protagonist. Animation: 7/10 You can always trust P.A. Works to deliver good animation. There are vibrant colors and several cute frames. Music: 8/10 The ED is dope, but the OST is what surprised me the most. I'm looking forward to listening to the soundtracks in the next few weeks. Enjoyment: 6/10 Niko-chan won my heart. Overall: 6/10 You can never go wro…

This was very wholesome anime and quite beautiful storytelling, it was in my opinion hooking on the first few episodes. It was a solid rom-com with some tense moments in between that had me a bit anxious, not going to lie. I really liked the character development of Yuu and the sisters throughout the episodes, it was very sweet and heartwarming, some moments more than others that made me genuinely smile and feel happy. Especially moments where Yuu just wanted nothing more than to bring them together and closer. The character designs are also pretty for eyes to look at, each character is unique and stands out quite nicely. Overall, aside from being a somewhat harem rom-com, it was more than that, it was about trying to bring the sisters together once again. Definitely would recommend for…

Its just a really sweet and cute anime. It doesn't do anything ground-breaking but i honestly like that, it stays to nice and relaxing the whole way through without trying to be the next big thing and it just adds to it. Every episode has a great balance of humour and seriousness that it never feels like its leaning too far in one direction, making for a perfect blend of a show that doesn't take itself too serious while also not just relying on constant corny jokes like most harem anime do. To add to it, the animation is extremely beautiful at times while not being in your face 24/7 (aided by the occasional use of more chibi style). Throughout the whole show there isnt a single scene that i personally would call bad, theres some tropes. yes. but as i stated before, theyre not trying to…

A very cute and enjoyable anime. Yu goes to live with the 3 Mikadona sisters and his goal is to have a family with the 3. It's a solid premise that promises a lot of cute and funny moments, and does deliver on most account. This show basically follows this plot as Yu has to help each sister individually in their own unique ways. The first thing I'll say is that the character designs are amazing. Each sister is unique and very pretty. Niko is my favorite with her orange/blond streak hair. A lot of eye candy and the expressions are also very kawaii. The V/A also do a top tier job. I think the design/animation is my favorite thing about the show. If you've watched these time of anime before then you know what you're getting yourself into. There are every possible cliche in there- inadverte…

This is alright it’s nothing amazing but it is alright. It does feel like a clone of the quintessential quintuplets but I did enjoy that show so I did enjoy this. There isn’t really a lot to say about it really Apart from it’s pretty much a copy paste of the quintuplets so if you like that then great this is gonna be some you’ll enjoy I’m pretty sure there’s gonna be a season two purely because of the way it was ended quite open so it wouldn’t surprise me and yeah honestly this is a short review because they’re just isn’t much to say if you like the quintuplets you would like this if you didn’t, then you probably won’t 7/10 Because I like the quintuplets

I never have very high expectations when starting a harem show. It is clear from the first episode this is better than your average harem. Unlike most main protagonist of harem shows the main male protagonist is actually likable. And it makes sense in time why he is getting the attention that he will eventually get. He is not your typical lead guy. He is not a fighter and not good at anything in the world outside of the home. But he is an excellent housekeeper and pays attention to all the things he needs to know about the girls to make their life easier. And the girls in the show are all self-centered and are all very annoyed with his presence... at first. The ending credits are good as they have multiple credits highlighting each main character which helps you like the characters more.…

In my opinion this is a very solid romcom. It's funny, the jokes lands, and it gives you considerable amount of diabetes. Can I start by saying how the protagonist is so refreshing? Essentially in this story, he got this flaw of being a klutz and average, but the fact he got a personal agency (action), a will and a desire to advance the plot and engage with the characters is so revitalizing. The relationship between the three heroines with the male protagonist develops fast but solid enough to cover each one of them. Yes, the characters can be 'tropey' but this anime gave time for literally everyone to develop with their own flaws, backstory, cognitive preferences and weaknesses despite being a 'prodigy'. It's a nice balance of showing how humans are imperfect and got their own strengths…

German text below -------------------------- I thoroughly enjoyed the twelve-part anime series Dealing with Mikadono Sisters Is a Breeze, even though I find it difficult to assign it to a clear genre. The basic scenario is reminiscent of a typical harem fanservice anime: the boy Yuu Ayase is put up in the house of an acquaintance, where his three daughters—Niko, Miwa, and Kazuki—already live. But contrary to expectations, the series remains free of the genre's usual “accidents” or exaggerated fanservice moments. The reason for Yuu's move is surprisingly sad and more reminiscent of a light drama: his mother, a well-known actress, has passed away. The acquaintance takes him in out of concern – but not entirely altruistically. His daughters are each the best in their school at judo, acting,…
