Batman Ninja and Star Wars: Visions were my introduction to anime. (I used to watch Doraemon as a kid, but I don't think that really counts.) The anime/Japanese interpretations of Batman and his characters are really well done. I had a lot of fun watching it, and honestly, the first half was amazing. But then it turned into a pretty ridiculous movie. Everything became so over-the-top and nonsensical. Like, why did the castles suddenly transform into giant Transformers-style robots? Weird, but still a decent movie.

I have to admit, this movie is a guilty pleasure of mine. The action is excellent, the tone is over-the-top, overdramatic and insane and it fully owns to it. It's awesome. There's something to be said about movies who's only goal is to be as dramatic and cool as possible with absolutely no regard for believability or suspension of disbelief. Unapologetic about their melodrama. I honestly kind of adore that.
The characters are quite faithful to the comics, at least as much as can be in the context, and genuinely entertaining in their own right.
Maybe the only fault could be that it feels at time the film is so focused on being "Batman in Japan" it feels like it's trying to check off every "Japan-y" box it can think of, and at times I do wonder if that didn't contribute to derail the story.…

In short, if you want a good Batman movie - watch that latest one, whatever it was called
If you want a GREAT Batman movie - watch the 1966 one, it was hillariously jank and I loved every second of it
BUT. If you want a good Batman movie that leaves you and your friends baffling what on earth did y'all just watch
Boy howdy, this may just be the thing
The first half of the movie is so extremely unique visually, you'd think the director crystalized the essence of Swag, then proceeded to crush it up and snort it through a silly straw. But then Batman learns about the power of friendship and sucks out all that uniqueness. And I'm only exaggerating a little. But there's a megazord fight afterwards so it balances out.
I can't say much about the plot because there's barely any. Half the villain…

Story wise this movie is pretty dumb. The characters, who are detectives and fight evil crime lords, hope to win with the power of friendship and feel betrayed when the villains behave like villains. The voices really got into my nerves, it's just too annoying and high pitched for everyone, the joker was specially annoying with his moaning. To me, it seems like whoever make this really loved batman's concept and watched him as a kid, but didin't revisit his source material as an adult and wrote something that an 8 year old would find badass or whatever. Like, reaally, batman who watched his parents die and punishes himself fighting criminals will gat depressed and talk to himself over not winning one battle? The joker escapes all the time, he's used to it!! He probably even enjoys it! Him…

If you thought Batman being transported to feudal Japan along side his friends and foes in order to guide a Bat-Clan of ninjas was over the top, the latter half of the movies will blow your mind with mech battles along the lines of Super Sentai.
The animation is incredibly well done and very fluid; the artstyle is enjoyable although I wasn't sold on some of the character designs (Robin's is trash to me, but Joker, Catwoman and Harley look SO good). My main problem is that all of the weapons and main characters are animated in a 3D style but all japanese civilians are animated in 2D, giving me a weird feeling.
Overall a crazy movie to kill time that is very fun to watch.

This movie is the definition of "okay." It's not bad, it's not good, it resides cleanly in the middle.
You'll have a moderately amusing time watching it and it has some interesting designs and visuals. I'm not too big on 3D anime but it did an adequate job, I think the more unique art style helped it in that regards. Stylization can go a long way in making 3D look less plastic and soulless.
The story is the biggest weak point. It's very disjointed and forgettable. Even though I watched it very recently I'm having a hard time remembering how all the different scenes and plot points wove together in the end. The whole thing just sort of feels like aesthetic set pieces that you move between without much care to character development or plot structure.
If you want a brainless, unique-lookin…

God, I wanted to like this so much more. It looked like Ninja Scroll meets Batman, and in my world that sounds amazing. I dunno if it has anything to do with watching the English language version or not and something was lost in translation (I generally always watch anime in Japanese with subs, but it's friggin' Batman), but what I got was some cool action scenes stitched together by the weakest, dumbest storyline I've come across in something related to Batman since Kevin Smith got his grubby hands on the character. I mean, Batman gets attacked by ninja wearing Joker masks and he asks them who they work for...world's greatest detective, right?!
I'm not one that hates CG anime, some of it looks decent, and while this certainly has style, it just doesn't animate very well. It looks really…

This was ridiculous, for lack of a better word it was campy. None of it makes sense, and if you're paying attention, it still doesn't make sense. The biggest let down of this is that it has nothing to do with batman. I actually came in hoping for something really cool, and obviously about batman, but the dialogue in this movie was so uncharacteristic of our iconic heroes. The characters were there, but they were only present in design. That aside, I will say that I enjoyed this movie. I'm a sucker for campy sci fi, which might have contributed to this, but it was just so silly and bad that I ended up liking it.

To be honest this is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The pacing sucks, the action is way too random and has a lot of gaps. Story was a clichee.I pretty much forced myself to watch the movie and focused more to not fall asleep.
The only things that are likable in this movies are the monkeys. JK JK The characters are ok, and the artstyle fits the concept well.
Sound effects were pretty bad and that one song during the final battle made me cringe.
I did not enjoy the movie and also do not reccomend it.Unless you are a hardcore DC fan .

Kamikaze Douga has always been one of my favorite studios because of their excellent 3D animation on Jojo op. Therefore, when I heard that they were making a Batman and federal Japan crossover movie, despite having not immediately watched the show, I was still excited about it and planed to watch it one day. Moreover, it is not very common to see superhero have crossover with historical theme like federal Japan, so it would be interesting to see how the anime blend these two themes together. However, the movie turned out to be a disappointment for me, not in terms of the animation, but in terms of the story and character development.
The thing that I appreciate most from the movie is the art. The CGI is unique and in most of the time it does not look o…

the story is kind of all over the place, makes no sense and out of character.
but it was the most hilarious, fever dream experience I've ever had regarding a batman movie. if you are a big fan of batman and like anime then you will find this movie hilarious. I suggest watching it in Japanese because joker's VA is great.
The art design is fun to watch honestly and aside from Damien's horrid hair cut the character designs are great too.
I found the background design a little lacking at times, giving off a feeling of emptiness.
there were a few out of character moments regarding Damien and grodd, grayson hardly had any memorable lines at all but catwoman and the joker were wonderful.
overall the movie was great to watch if you are bored and have always wanted to watch a batman giant…

Prefacing this with the fact that I watched both the English (twice) and Japanese (once) versions of this movie before writing the review.
Batman Ninja is so shamelessly and unapologetically out of its mind. The people who worked on this clearly poured their heart into this movie even if it doesn't follow the conventional molds of what people expect from Batman and anime in general, and that's what makes it so good. They know it's cheesy and over the top, and they know it's a chaotic mess, yet they continue to ramp it up with more crazy shit that leaves you stunned. There are mechs and swordfighting and guns, and they completely changed Damian's original personality to a shonen protagonist type character because he's the token young male character. Batman even does Naruto hand signs at so…

When I herd Ninja Batman, I did not expect this trash of a story anime. What kept my interest was the animation, Batman (sometimes) and the action scenes.
If this was an anime I would of dropped it pretty quick. The story was so bad I was upset. They could of done a great interesting story idea with Batman in this time learning Japanese, ninjutsu, or bushido. The story was thrown together with the Villains taking over the main positions of Feudal Japan, with Joker taking over Oda, Nobunaga's spot in the time period. Then adding some weird tech from the future making mechas and crazy explosives. Had to keep the action hype though, right.
A lot of the story did not make sense as well. Time travel is a touchy subject as is too. It seems like they really rushed the story aspect to pack in…

I came to this anime knowing only this : Batman in Japan fighting the Joker. This simple sentence was promising. I didn't expect a masterpiece but at least a tolerable entertainment. Let's see why it's not.
First the story. It makes very little sense, the basic idea is attractive but as short as 10 minutes into the movie, I was already telling myself WTF. Inconsistencies, japanese clichés and formulaic dialogues were always throwing me out of my willing suspension of disbelief (that's what help you to not scream "but magic/cosmos/alchemy doesn't exist !" when you're watching a show). It's in Japan so I get that the staff wanted to show his love for japanese culture (and attract a new public for the franchise) but in the end it's just ridiculous. A giant bats/samourai-monkeys monster figh…

Ninja Batman is a cool idea with a nice visual style. I saw a short clip of it on the internet— so hey— I'll check it out.
It's a shame the movie is dreadful.
My biggest gripe with the movie, is the audio. Holy shit. It is BAD. It makes the movie UNWATCHABLE. It's not even the dub quality, (Which may be great to awful, depending on what you think about English VA's) it's the mixing.
Watching this movie, sounds like someone is actively dubbing over EVERYTHING. Anything that is not speech is rendered to a mere whisper. It makes every single moment in the movie feel weightless and empty. Action scenes feel like they are being played on mute. When someone talks there is a palpable awkwardness in the air. It doesn't help that the CGI looks janky at times. The exaggerated Japanese lip sync…

This is the most amazing thing I've ever seen. How can you not like this masterpiece. I mean this has the most bullshit plot twists i've ever seen along with the complete and utter lack of any fucking logic. 10/10 would watch again.

The first 60 minutes were decent actually, but my bullshit meter went over 9000 pretty quickly afterwards. The movie completely abandoned reason in the last third of its duration...
The joker smile was pretty decent, however he was shown as pretty weak fighter compared to everyone else and he didn`t really seem much insane either.
I liked the politics betrayal part and the few other homages to feudal japan, but that`s about it.
There is really not much more i can say about this movie. It`s a hot mess of gundam castles...
The joker doesn`t really fit into any of the 3 archetypes either...

Superheroes are inherently silly. Every serious superhero is just twisting the idea
of an actual classic heroic figure.
Batman is literally a guy that dresses up like a bat to fight criminals, uses bat-themed weapons, driving a bat-themed car, motorcycle and flying a bat-themed plane. Does that seem realistic to you?
Batman is silly, so why can't there be a silly movie about Batman? If more people were to accept that idea, this movie wouldn't be this overhated. It's not your ordinary Batman film but it's not trying to be. Who the hell expected a serious story from the guy that created Kill la Kill and wrote Gurren Lagann? Anime was made to be fun, the same goes for comics, so why does everyone think both mediums should be realistic, deep and dark? There's nothing wrong with these kinds of…

Not like any Batman story we have seen.
The movie itself, the story and the characters are not great or outstanding. But in my opinion who makes the movie so damn good, is of course that Batman is in it and also Catwoman, Robin, Red Robin, Nightwing and others this give it a plus. Also the 3D animation is the best I have seen so far, it is extremely well finished, the sound effects makes it even greater and the art itself of the movie is a great union between Japanese manga and an American comic.
In the other hand, the plot is not more than an old mecha anime oversaturated of silly mecha fights and a little bit of jutsus (at the very end).
To finish for me was a little bit stupid when some monkeys and some bats they build a giant old costume Batman, that was definitely weird.
