I do love a unique storyline.
All I look for is great storytelling, great ending great development and great fun.
The story, is enough that i can definitely see myself watching this again in the future! the characters are great, the villains are great the antagonists are complex.
the characters actually have arks, desires, goals, opinions and ideas that change and become more complex with time. I still feel like it could be more impactful if more time was spent on certain aspects but, hey a movie is a movie. for the 1hr 50min it had, it really squeezed in a lot of information and exploration, i didn't get bored even for a moment!
very intense i have to admit, pacing is very fast
The visuals are very cool, bright neons, piercing contrasts, animation is super strong, bold and dynamic!…

So Hot, I'm Getting Dizzy
Promare Is an anime that asks a question, is a firefighter soul hotter or a firefiend, let's find out.
it a hot mess, but damn it, if it isn't entertaining and so well animated, even if the camera movement, can be disordering sometimes.
The plot is at the same time predictable, but the rabbit hole it goes down is so weird, that I could not expect it. is that kind of plot, where it just always found a way to become even more, epic and even more fun.
The characters are just full of so much energy, so much hyper voice acting, that makes me not care about that dept.
the character design is great, really expressive and use of color is phenomenal. the use of music is great, it just sits the tone perfectly for every scene, and gives a feeling of energy all the time.…

After watching Promare, I can't really recommend it and as a matter of fact, even if I went for the mixed feelings, I hesitated more with the not recommended option than with the recommended one.
I'll try to explain down below the few things done right by the movie and the many ones done wrong. I'll try to stay focused solely on the movie and won't compare it with other animes made by Trigger, although I'll say that I didn't like TTGL and dropped it quite early one, so I guess that I got off with the wrong foot with this movie since it shares many things with TTGL.
+ The animation : 9/10
That's the main feat of this movie : the animation. There are many well animated scenes, the fights are dynamic and you'll be served with many of them. It's colorful, flashy, it has this "Trigger" v…

"When I said take me to the moon,
I never meant take me alone
I thought if mankind toured the stars
it meant that all of us could go."
- Penelope Scott, Rät
The premise of Promare is simple. 30 years ago, some people randomly developed fire powers and are now an oppressed minority group (called the "burnish" here). It's a plot I'm sure you've seen before, especially if you've ever engaged with a single piece of X-Men media. However the way it approaches its plot surprised me with how much depth and nuance they were able to pack into a two hour action flick.
The main character of the story is a young man named Galo. He is a very proud, passionate young man who carries nothing but love and kindness in his heart, so he dedicates his time to protecting the city as part of a special force m…

Finally got around to watching this movie after years of hearing about it. And I gotta say, it's not what I was expecting.
Being produced by Studio Trigger, you'd think it could be good, but the movie is alright for the most part. There's a lot to like, but the pacing and the multiple story twists ultimately lead to its downfall. I like the characters, and Kamina 2.0 if you've watched Gurren Lagann. I love the art style and the animation. I think I'd ultimately like the story if it hadn't been for the pacing. The pacing was so fast, introducing new twists and turns to the story that I'm like "huh?". I don't even have time to process any of it, and my brain gets to the point of exploding. If it had been made into episodes, I think that would've made this movie a lot better, but it seems li…

The start of this felt a little off but it definitely improved as the movie went on. There's something that I do like about it and some things I don't which left me little lukewarm overall. When it started the animation seemed a bit off to me. Maybe the kind of color pallet they used or the way they shaded but again as the movie went on it grew on me. I think some of the characters are nice even if some of the traits felt reused from Studio Triggers other works (Kamina) but some of the characters fell a little flat, that being the supporting cast and partly the main villain. The main story was alright, felt a little Disneyish which isn't a bad thing but it just felt a little boring at times. Overall I liked it but I think it could've been a bit better.

It seems like the director thought let's combine Fire Force plot with Gurren Lagann character design and visuals and create an anime movie. Nothing seemed original in the story. But the art style was amazing with the music and osts during the fights keeping up the pace,I would recommend this movie to anyone who just want to have some fun, but other than that it isn't much. 6.5/10 for me with the animation style and music carrying the movie heavily, it could have been better if there was any sort of originality, the plot and the world as I earlier said was completely copy paste of Fire force and the character design and the last part where the main mecha and it's pilots the protagonists were folding their arms and standing was completely similar to Gurren lagann and we can't forget that the…

I really wanted to like this more. Unfortunately, Promare peaks early on (the trailer... it's the scene from the trailer) and goes on to lose the plot and rehash Gurren Lagann way too many times for me to respect it as an independent work. It ends up attempting a play-by-play of key moments in Gurren Lagann that are super predictable and feel really phoned in. Too much action, not enough character time, not enough plot. Many fun moments, but it's a tough sell for people who aren't super into the concepts and animation. It's all flash, no substance, and the one memorable scene is... super flashy, with no substance.
The animation? Fun, dynamic, and an experience that I absolutely appreciated. The plot? Constantly undermined by attempts to escalate and internal confusion between being seriou…

Not sure what was the story about. There is a little to no respect to plot. I thought it was an action anime at first with some fun story but it ended up as a mech yaoi anime. I think it's better that you guys skip this anime. It is just an anime with cool effects and animations. Nothing more than that. Feels like the studio was experimenting with the animation and style.
5/10
I was able to watch it over the course of 2 days. Plus the length of the movie is too long. Predictable ending, no character development. Boring.

The writing and plot is very predictable and brings nothing new or exciting to the table for me. The visuals are clearly the highlight of this movie. The characters have the bare minimum of depth, however the writing doesn't convince me to care about them too much as their characterization is cliché at best (which can be expected from anime, superficial archetypes are just not my thing). If you are one to enjoy typical anime archetypes and a conventional, simplistic narrative, you will probably enjoy Promare. Definitely a good movie to put on whilst working on something else, to serve as background noise and pleasing visuals. It is alright, overall, though I found it boring.

I feel this one's a bit underrated. It's basically a pure fusion of Fire Force and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, and though it doesn't match the latter (how could it in the runtime of a movie?), it vastly exceeds the former. Lot of slick animation, some of the best animation stills I've ever seen, knows when and how to be dumb as hell and still make itself endearing. It's predictable, I didn't love the villain, and they did very little to develop most of the side characters, but damn if it wasn't a great time to watch. It's such a roller coaster of a movie and well worth the ride.

High Action, High Tension and High Fuel. Those are the words that come to mind when reflecting back on the events in this film. The film starts off by throwing you directly in into the center of the story’s action by establishing the main narrative, introducing characters, incorporating the main points of conflict and just having fun with the characters. As you progress though the film you begin to see the story continuing to build on the consents that it initially established while also starting to mix in additional twist and turns in an attempt to try to spice up the general flow of progression. Near the end of this narrative all the various elements of this tale begin to ramp up to the degree of being borderline absurd/insane in a way that can either come off as highly spirited/engaging…

I was so disappointed by this anime. I hear a lot of people hate Trigger for ruining shows with bad endings, but honestly I still really enjoyed Darling in the FranXX, Kiznaiver, and Cyberpunk Edgerunners. Unlike those animes that were hurt to varying degrees on account of their bad endings, PROMARE was bad throughout.
Characters: All of the characters were boring and one-dimensional. 1/10
Dialogue: The dialogue was incredibly basic failing to amuse me with every one of its jokes. This is probably the show's weakest point since the pain of trying to read what feels like the same few lines being spoken for even a few minutes made it difficult to invest oneself in the plot whatsoever. 1/10
Plot: I had no clue what was happening and was just waiting for it all to be over. Not going to rat…

The best way to describe this movie in as few words as possible is: aesthetic, the anime.
Promare has some of the best animation I've seen, but a completely stylized one, which understandably might not work for everyone. The style they chose, however, is stable through the whole movie. Drops in quality aren’t noticeable and the 3d used is so well merged with the style, there are times you can barely tell it’s there. It doesn't feel like a way to cheapen the animation, but like a deliberate choice. The stylization is bold but works really well with the scenario, seeing as the whole direction has undeniable quality and faithfulness to its style. The anime is stylish from start to finish, from its transitions, interesting and appealing color schemes, to smart compositions... It's like a tasty…

Promare has a very straightforward plot that only sounds weird when you try to explain it to someone. I will now try to explain it in six sentences.
There is this strange event where a bunch of people wield fire powers due to strong emotions or something. People become afraid of the fire people. Fast forward thirty years and they've got these mechs that shoot out ice, which they use to fight the fire people/put out their fires. There is this Kamina knock-off who is one of the ice guys and at the start of the movie he beats this green haired femboy who is a fire guy labelled as a terrorist. Afterwards, green hair escapes captivity and Kamina knockoff discovers a sinister plot led by the ice guys. Eventually, they team up and stop the bad guy.
For a two hour movie, Promare actually manages…

The presentation and everything about it is honestly stunning. While the environments can be more simplistic that lets the character design, animation, and color choices really stand out and just be honestly jaw-dropping. I just wish the story had been more.
There were some moments when it seemingly wanted to take itself seriously, but then certain story beats came out of nowhere and undermined that. It was fun, but just solid, not really anything special in my opinion. The characters contribute to that because they feel pretty static. My roommate commented (with 20 minutes left in the movie) that they don't really change or develop. I like them, but they don't reeeally have well-developed arcs. Lio is the standout, I love him, and Galo comes closest to it so their dynamic really does ca…

Man this anime burns.
I have been wanting to watch this movie for a long time. My god the animation was legit god tier. U cannot get bored when there is so many vibrant colors and moving pieces for almost 2 hours straight. It’s beautiful and exciting from start to finish. There wasn’t a any slow or dull moments.
It’s amazing that I watched it while lying down, so I felt pretty sleepy. But the reckless pacing and fire animation actually kept my eyes wide opened.
The story was typical, and the villain was very obvious. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but towards the end I realized the story didn’t make a lot of sense. The villain’s motivation was actually justified. The backstory behind the premise didn’t even feel complete.
The characters were meh as well. They were all straightfor…

it peaked when they made sweet sweet love god their lips were on each other it was so hot
this movie sucked but it's carried by the ending (when they kissed)
would've been better if the main cast was bob stuart and kevin from the minions movie and it showed the path the minions took on their journey to serving the most evil master in the world - which leads them to the main antagonist being scarlet overkill from the villain convention then the minions meet gru at the end after they save britain from its inevitable demise (which perfectly sets up a sequel)
story: 1/10
art: 1/10
sound: 1/10

*NO SPOILERS REVIEW*
I'll keep this review short and sweet. Promare is a movie with flashy animation, cool colors, jamming music, high paced story, and lively characters. I'll break down my ratings for each component of the movie here, if you want to see a quick one sentence summary of my thoughts on the movie, feel free to skip to the end of this review and read what I've written in my enjoyment section.
Story: 5
Overall, the story didn't stand out that much to me. It was very predictable, and a lot of times the pacing seemed to be completely out of wack. In the movie, events happen one after another with practically zero break in between or explanation of what was going on. The director of the movie seems to just hope that he can string together a bunch of things happening, put it on…
