Somehow Even Better Than Season 1, Pure Peak Chaos Space Dandy Season 2 picks up right where the first left off and somehow finds a way to get even wilder, cooler, and more creative. Dandy, QT, and Meow continue bouncing around the galaxy hunting rare aliens, and every episode still feels like its own completely unique experiment. What I love most is that the show never loses its fearless energy. The animation keeps inventing new styles, the humor stays sharp and unpredictable, and the whole thing feels completely free. Dandy remains an absolute icon lazy, stylish, overconfident, and somehow still lovable no matter how ridiculous things get. The supporting characters and random encounters only get better, and the direction is still peak cool. Season 2 proves this wasn’t just a one seaso…

It's hard to write a review for what is ostensibly an anthology series like this, where the sum of its parts is almost lesser than any individual piece. Any review wishing to match the earnestness and genuineness of the show would no doubt be forced to step through each individual episode and give them their due diligence. Unfortunately, I am not that thorough and so will have to be brief. As for the episodes, they are each their own journey. There are comedic episodes, like the fish episode "Slow and Steady Wins the Race, Baby" (Season 2, Episode 3), which genuinely made me laugh with the absurdity, voices, and visual gags (like the stupid binoculars bit). I don't often find anime laughably funny, so it is always amazingly impressive to me when a show matches my sense of humor (Tanaka-k…

Never have I lost interest in a show as quickly as when watching this season of Space Dandy. Sure, both seasons do fundamentally the same thing. You have your episodic wacky adventure presented with style and with only goal being having fun, and I did have that fun... for a while. Unfortunately this wild ride from the beginning tries to be even crazier at the expense of disregarding many of its consequences and its continuity. Characters will die or end up in an irreversible position but everything will magically be reversed in the next episode to get ready for our next adventure. Those adventures could be pretty or interesting or both but my investment in this whole band of characters rapidly collapsed at the beginning of this season. Every character here is trapped in unmoving status qu…

(This will be a review of season one and two as a whole.) Man if I ever had to say one underrated anime that I've watched its got to be Space Dandy. Space Dandy is an amalgamation of many things and it pulls almost all of it off perfectly. Its a true delight to watch and every episode has me in anticipation of what wacky antics they'll get up to. Some of the episodes don't live up to some of the better ones but I didn't come away from any disliking them. This was a real treat to watch and is an easy anime to recommend.

Space Dandy, He Really Was Just a Dandy Guy in Space. Coming back with that same awesome energy from Season 1 Season 2 is just as good. This is A Fun little romp full of One-off Adventures. The Art is even better than before; there are very impressive dance numbers, episode four really stands out and it blew my mind. Music is still good; whoever is in charge of picking the songs has a great ear. Same Cast you know and love: Dandy, Meow, and QT. Meow and QT take more of a back seat this season to give more time to the supporting characters: Scarlet, Dr. Gel, and Honey. There is an episode dedicated to the fans favorite pairing; if you adore Love and Romance, the ending of Episode 10 will have you on the edge of your seat. Yes, Very enjoyable; I found myself laughing and always looking forwa…

As this season started out I was worried it would be just more of the same kinds of episodes that I really didn't gel with like in the first season, and that was true but I believe it was around episode 5 that things really started to pick up and the quality to me made a noticeable improvement all around from how the episodes were written and set up their jokes to the various styles of animation used with more variety in technique almost looking like from a different show. This season both has a really funny episode on Dandy and this new character Johnny trying to become rock stars while constantly fighting and one that's a good, trippy reflection on the afterlife in a strangely Spanish-Catholic fashion. So even with such a short turn-around from season 1 to 2, there was an improvement tha…

(Includes 1st season impressions) I'm not gonna waste your time with pretentious bullshit. I loved this anime, and it's real real fun. If you try to watch this anime like an Evangelion fan, you will not have a good time. There is no story until the very end, and all the ridiculous stuff the crew does almost makes no sense at all. All the characters are great and aren't as flat as you would think, and every episode is a new fresh idea with a usually brilliant soundtrack and beautiful art piece that graces your eyes. While I can agree there are a few episodes skip-worthy, that'll happen when every single episode has a completely different story. You can't possibly enjoy ALL types of stories! Unless you do, then my bad. Anyways something about the show, about Dandy, makes me love it unconditi…

My thoughts on season 2 are similar to season 1 so if you want a more in-depth talk about the show then read my first review as the problems I have with season 1 are similar to this season and the things I like are also the same, however this season is definitely the better season so much so I can rank my top few favourite episodes; 1 (My Favourite)- Ep 7 2- Ep 1 3- Ep 10 4- Ep 9 5- Ep 4 6- Ep 13 The show doesn't really have a continuing story and each episode is self contained so you don't need to watch them all, If you decide to do that watch those episodes and if I re-watch any episodes those will be the ones that I will have on repeat as because the are elf contained I can enjoy weather Its on in the background or if I'm only in the mood for a short watch. The ending is a bit confusi…

Love this anime more than i expect to ... The animation was 10/10 Sound was amazing too, voice actors did so good, the sound effects were fantastic as well however some background ost was lacking in Many episodes, yet OP and ED were memorable 9/10 Plot a solid 8/10 : Even tho some episodes were meh others were some of the Best episodes i have watched in an anime in ages, they take into account some scifi concepts that not other anime have, some movies but not animes; like parallel universes, warp not being warp but dimensional travel. Very interesting , i wish they Made another season. Character 9/10 : very very funny yet charismatic, i never thought i would Care so much for a vacuum cleaner so much lol Enjoyment and Overall 9/10 : The only reason this is not a 10/10 is cuz like i…

In a few ways, it's notable improvement over the first season, but it still has many of the same issues I had with the first season. The episodic nature of the series is still here, but the tone of the episodes are much more varied this time. There also seems to be less screentime of QT and Meow and more focus on fleshing out Dandy as a character, which was a positive overall. There are also episodes that are less comedic and more introspective. These didn't always land well for me, but the change of pace was appreciated. The last episode seemed to be tying together the warping storyline that's occasionally mentioned, but those bits were always too fragmented for me to understand and follow. The production value of Space Dandy is still impressive, most of what I said about the first seas…

Curt-

Space Dandy is fucking insane. It's one of the weirdest, most tonally inconsistent shows I've ever seen, full of idiotic characters, plots with no consequences, and episode after episode of inane drivel. And I absolutely love it. It's hard to even talk about this show because it defies one specific genre or mood. Sometimes it's a comedy, sometimes it's a drama, sometimes it's a musical. You can never predict where it will go next because Space Dandy is so full of ideas and concepts that it wants to hit you with something new before you even get the chance to comprehend what you just saw. It's an excellent showcase of writers just going bonkers with the script and letting the story take the reigns. Each stand-alone episode is almost entirely watchable on it's own as a short film, which is…

ATTENTION! THIS IS A REVIEW FOR BOTH SEASONS SINCE I WATCHED BOTH OF THEM BACK-TO-BACK AND THINK THIS IS THE WAY THE ANIME SHOULD BE WATCHED TO GET THE MOST ENJOYMENT OUT OF IT THERE ARE MAJOR PLOT POINTS SPOILERS BECAUSE THE STORY DOESN'T POINT IT OUT IN AN OBVIOUS WAY! THEY ARE MARKED BUT BE WARNED! So, here I'm back from watching the two seasons to finally give my opinion of the show. I first thought it would be just an episodic acid trip show coupled with lots of Gundam, the 80s, and pop culture references. Boy, was I wrong! Here is the thing. Is Space Dandy an episodic anime with no continuity or determined plot? Yes (Dandy is a space hunter looking for unknown alien races in return of making a good profit, he is not that good while doing his job. But he is Dandy while doing it!)…

This short review it's for S1 and S2. I love it Space Dandy. The story don't have a linear story in the series because are adventures of Dandy, Meow and QT except the final episodes are linear, but every episode it's so spectacular and entertainmet with her stories and messages, some episodes have a very nice messages really nice. The art i love it, every episode looks like had a different animation equip, and that are so awesome, each chapter has an essence different and anime is not repetitive at all. The sound, dude,it's gold the soundtrack of Space Dandy i love so much the OST of Space Dandy, the OP and ED, the OST in every episode it's so awesome in every episode, and well Suwabe Junichi do a very nice work in Dandy's Voice. The Characters, hahaha, the characters are so funny and s…

This show is pretty damn dandy hahaha. The story is very good, each episode is creative and fun. 8/10 Art is very smooth and crisp, I watched in 1080p 60fps 144hertz UHD so I can say that for sure! 10/10 The soundtrack is nice, all the music fits perfectly every time. 10/10 Characters are great, I like Dandy as a chill space dude, Meow the cat is bearable, QT is a monotonous robot that has quite the personality for being a freaking robot. Everybody else is fine I guess. 10/10 I enjoyed it very much, overall pleasant experience. 10/10 overall.

Note: This review is intended to cover both seasons. Shinichirou Watanabe is best known for directing two very popular highly-regarded original anime series--1998's Cowboy Bebop and 2004's Samurai Champloo, both of which feature an episodic format and a unique blend of genres and influences which make him even more popular in the West than in Japan. In 2014, Watanabe and Bones released Space Dandy. Like Bebop and Champloo, it was an anime original with clear Western influences and a purely episodic (well, not really--you'll see what I mean in the final episodes) format, about the adventures of a cocky but incompetent bounty hunter, his lazy alien sidekick Meow, and his AI vacuum cleaner assistant QT. Despite its goofy exterior, however, Space Dandy carries the same thematic depth and char…

“You get to a certain point when you just want to get to the meat of a review, you've already made it through a prequel, you've seen all of what the critical reviews can offer already, so just get to the point”, I'm sure a good percentage of people that care about reading other people's reviews repeat this sentence even on an unnoticeable level before digging in on these type of critics and I'm no exception myself, as flat forward Dandy is, the goal of my reviews draw heavily on that, drop all the deal weight and clutter only relevant information that both praises and bashes a specific show accordingly, and I'm no judger... and no J.K Rowling either. Or else I would have already called all of you gay for reading the review and call it a day, baby. See above 👆? That's how easy it is to str…

Story: 9/10 I went in with an open mind and i didnt got dissapointet. Season 2 is episodic like Season. Each episode tells it's story in their own way. Some episodes were really wierd, some unbelievable creativ. Space Dandy is in its own league. There is no other show i could compare it to. SP 2 owns its wierdness. There is high rewachtabilty and such a breath of fresh air. i could take my eyes of the screen. We got to know why the gogol empire is hunting Dandy. which is great. My favorite is the rockstar episode and the whole ending. Character: 8/10 Every Character gets his time to shine. Even sidecharacters are well flesh out and likeble. Their Interacrions are fun to watch. Animation: 10/10 this is where SP2 shines. Some episodes have stellar animation. They use for every episode d…

Damn, what a ride, baby! What a way to amplify everything that was great about the first season and make it even better! I don't think there was a single episode here that I didn't love. As well as looking amazing (with hats off to all the guest animators the studio brought in), the second season also happened to be absolutely hilarious, emotional, and even managed to (kinda) explain the loose plot and continuity issues I previously had in the final episodes of the season. My one complaint is that we didn't have any of the episodes focused around QT and Meow like there were in season one - not a big problem, though, cause we got more Scarlet and Honey in exchange. Also, "May be continued?"?! What a tease to end the series on! I give that 9 Baccano's/10 for frustrating ways to make us cr…

Somehow I like anime with separate series not hard-related from episode to episode. Space Dandy is such an anime!!! Each episode so exclusive and perfect peace of art, parody, action! Yes, action in this anime SOOOOOO COOL!! For thoose who watch this anime to the end, wait a surprise and reference to the begining of the 1st season. Dandy is a challenge for thoose who love to seek a easter eggs. Music is big plus of this series, maintains the atmosphere on high level, so I'm immediatly downloaded full OST =))))) In the end - sorry for my English, not my native language ^^

This is more of the stuff you saw in the first season. The animation is still great, music is still good, but for some reason I enjoyed this season less than the 1st one. For some reason the stories in individual episodes, despite looking good graphically in most cases failed to resonate with me and left less impact than, for example, the absolutely amazing "plant episode" from the first season of space dandy. I'm not sure why this happened. It is still worth watching, mostly because of high quality animation, and because of unusual stories, but expect it to have less impact than the first season. At least the way it worked for me. Detailed breakdown below: Story: 6/10. As I said, most of the episodes failed to properly resonate with me and I found some of them very dull, desptie amaz…
