My heart is still skipping beats after watching Tamako Love Story! I had a marathon viewing session (don't judge me, I needed a break from adulting) and I'm so glad I did. I went in expecting a lighthearted, fluffy rom-com, but what I got was so much more. Tamako's journey from clueless cutie to selfless sweetheart had me rooting for her from start to finish.
I loved how the movie balanced humor and heartache - I found myself laughing out loud one minute and wiping away tears the next. The animation was gorgeous, the characters were lovable and relatable, and the music... oh man, the music still gives me chills. I've had the OP stuck in my head for days!
What really resonated with me, though, was the way the story explored the complexities of first love, friendship, and growing up. I mea…

Okay I'll keep it short.
This anime objectively does not deserve to rated what I've rated it. It's pacing is slightly off, the art isn't as refined, some of the side characters are not well developed here or in Tamako market, the soundtrack isn't the most inspiring thing, the main character suffers from dense brain syndrome, among so many other problems... ...and yet I can't help but absolutely love this film for giving such a satisfying end to Tamako Market, and perfectly encapsulating the roller coaster that is the innocent process of falling in love.
Tamako Market and Love Story get far more criticism than what they deserve, largely because, I believe, people are trying to make it something it's not. Tamako Love Story, and to an even greater extent, Tamako Market, are not love storie…

I was very young when I watch this, just giving my reviews now.
I really love the story pacing as it greatly executed the story about a girl going through her first love and being a high school student.
This is also the first hint of GL anime I ever watch and I applause the creators for executing it well to the point that I almost sided with her than the ML. >.>
The romance is neither forceful nor dragging. Just enough for their age. I also love the conclusion and the bit of humor in it.
Also plus points for the creators not really forcing the shows "mascot" to be all over the story. Heck, that part was almost ignored as if that didn't happen at all (tho there are a bit of signs here and there).
Overall, really good.

Oh, this is a really cute anime.
When I saw the trailers, edits and images I really thought that Tamako would be the cute introverted girl and Mochizo would be the popular boy who plays basketball, but I thought it was cool to see that it was very different from my expectation. And I have to say that I found Mochizo very sweet.
And about the story itself, I must say that, taking away the stereotypes of the characters I had created in my head, the story doesn't go far from the standard I thought it would be, it's a very cute anime, but, I think because it's a movie and having less time to make viewers connect directly with the characters, didn't make me have as much attachment or genuine happiness for the characters, but I think the film's goal is far from something deep and exciting, but s…

This is my first review, I will try to write properly and without spoilers as much as possible.
Story 10/10
The love story between these two sometimes made me laugh, sometimes sad, sometimes excited, and sometimes made me run around with joy.
Every passing minute, the movie has a story that will not tear you away from it and even bind you to it.
The story is quite simple, not at all complicated.
The end was left entirely to your imagination. Characters 9/10
Well-formed characters for an ordinary romance anime, assuming there's nothing too exaggerated. I don't know what to say about the characters but almost all of them were cute/cool
Sound 9/10
The voice overs were good enough that I can say that it was almost completely seated.
Their music will calm you down, make you sad, curi…

I liked the beginning and the middle part, the scenes and the characters were good, it should be noted that I saw the prequel beforehand but to tell the truth, the ending seemed very abrupt, I would have liked it to be more moving, unfortunately not much for me part a 9 seems fair to me, the truth is I did not expect much from a series with an average of 7.
Anyway it wa…

A beautifully crafted romance. Tamako Love Story doesn't try to innovate on the genre, but the execution is perfectly done. Each moment conveys the emotion of the series with Kyoto Animation's always beautiful artwork and music to a tee.
While Tamako Love Story serves as a sequel to Tamako Market, the plot is entirely self contained, and easily enjoyable without any prior knowledge of the show. Character personalities are quickly presented and are endlessly endearing. Each moment is shown with attention to detail, and the tale of innocent love is almost guaranteed to leave a smile on your face long after the credits roll. Credit to KyoAni for their wonderful, lovingly crafted work!
While not quite to the catagory of "must watch", and not bringing anything new to the genre, I would firml…

Tamako Market as a show is a bit of an aimless and fun series that forgets it has an overarching plot until the final episode where it crams it all in thus making it an inessential viewing experience to enjoy the Tamako Love Story movie.
While the show is still enjoyable, the movie really shines both as a finale to the show and as a standalone film because it tells the tale of two teens nearing the end of their high school days and having to figure out what they want to do with their lives. Everyone has their own goals and dreams for what they want to do in the future, but feelings often can get in the way of it, and learning how to deal with said feelings is an important part of life that everyone has to learn. Some act on those feelings and try to initiate change, while others are willi…

I liked this anime because it’s very wholesome. Through and through, the viewer can’t help but feel overwhelmed with emotions from beginning to end. The art and animation is profoundly impressive, and the soundtrack is bubbly and boisterous. The storyline is refreshing, and puts a spin on the typical anime love-trope, in various ways. Both the main characters and side characters are interesting and keep you hooked in to watching. It’s hard to take your eyes off of the screen, for fear of missing one single moment is prevalent, even at the start of the anime.
Overall, I highly recommend this anime to those who love romance and comedy

Man! it was such a good anime. The story with the nostalgic feel, having to leave your friends and loved one behind. The sweetness and innocence of first love and confession. It is a bittersweet anime with beautiful vibe of telling your love what you feel one last time before u leave to chase your dreams. The characters are sweet and it just fills your heart with fluff feeling. I couldnt help but almost choke when it was finished it was such a great anime
The lighting and art style are pretty to look at. the sound and flashbacks are amazing too. You get to see the insight of the main characters even without watching the actual the story. Tamako is the sweetest and the Mochi is soo effing amazing.
9/10 must watch.

While I did enjoy the quirky series (Tamako Market), Tamako Love Story was actually very melancholy for most of its run time. While I'm impressed Mochizo was able to finally confess his feelings to Tamako, we spend most of the rest of the movie with Tamako reeling from the shock of it and trying to decide how best to respond....it's a little agonizing.
I also feel saddest for Midori, who clearly loves her friend Tamako romantically but just suffers in silence and even belatedly helps her ostensible rival, Mochizo.
The ending is so abrupt and on the nose I couldn't help laughing out loud. Tamako, upon being told a white lie by Midori that Mochizo is moving away early to Tokyo (he's just taking a day trip), rushes to the train station, and, exhausted and desperate finally reciprocates with…

This film was really cute, quick and full of pleasant surprises. I think that I enjoyed the film very much so don't be fooled by the 7 on my rating because it was more than decent and a very good contemporary love story. I have yet to watch Tamako's Market so I would be reviewing solely based on the movie and I liked it. It was very heartwarming, made me smile, made me laugh; it was so endearing and swoon-worthy.
Characters here played the biggest part, I think the two MCs were very likable and I liked them both right away. Usually in love stories, I would feel some annoyance for one of them but this did not happen! They were both adorable and I think just because they were cute and likable characters, it does not mean they weren't fleshed out because they really were.
I think even if yo…

A really mediocre series. I wouldn't recomend it but eh ig i can see people enjoying it
here is why I think its mediocre:
the movie starts off well, characters reintroduced some flashbacks, the problem is everything after the start.
anime takes like half of the movie for a character just building up courage to do something. and then after thats done it looks like writter was preparing to stretch the movie but the director or whatever told them that they have 5 minutes to finish the movie, so baisically ending comes out of nowhere, feels rushed, and is unsatisfying.
the pacing was the biggest problem, not too much problems other than pacing. but terrible pacing can ruin even the best of stories.

Felt super rushed and if there wasnt a Tamako market then I wouldve enjoyed this much more but the original series didint need this. It's great it had this but i couldnt feel attached to this movie because what the first season was all about isnt here. I LOVE my romance this was a decent romance movie however this being a sequel to tamako market isnt a good idea:( couldve been better if this was a longer movie or had more seasons to get more attached to the characters then this movie.-. Really didint feel like a good sequel especially to an anime about a random bird thing (which I disliked)

I'm kinda disappointed with this film. Kyoto Animation usually provides powerful moments in their films, but this one lack any. It's a plain, simple story with no powerful moments, no heartache, no joy, etc. They kept everything to a mimimum and maybe that's what they were aiming for and if that's the case, they did a brilliant job.
I'm not saying the film is bad, i'm saying it's forgetable. There's not a single scene that stands out or makes you want to see it again.
The characters are in that point of life where they must decide their future and you have the typical "will they - won't they" lovestory, but even that fell flat.
I really liked that art and the music and i think the voice actors did a great job. But like i said, the weak point is the actual story.

I liked this movie for many reasons, for one it has a romance element however it focuses it's runtime similarly to tamako market and keeps the tone and story "progression" as it has for its predecessor, making Tamako love story feel like a slice of life that just happens to have romance. Which is fresh and nice in its own way.
The comfortable set of lovable characters that have been established in tamako market gave me a relaxing watch and made me even more invested in the progression of the film. The little attempts at subtext makes me wonder that midori actually likes mochizou too. That aside I really liked the characters and it really elevated the enjoyment value of the movie. Hella solid romance.
7/10
Nice movie and dammmm Tamako is fucking cute.

No one animates teenagers better than KyoAni does. And no one directs like Naoko Yamada. If you're looking for a heartfelt, cinematic experience, I think you should really give this a try, even if you didn't like/didn't watch Tamako Market.
While the TV series was all about "never depicting any darkness" and how "it's not always bad to keep things going the way they are", Tamako Love Story explores the other side of that coin, giving us character development that wasn't touched in the main series.
The film's plot follows how Tamako works through a sudden tension in her relationship with a childhood friend. It's easy for dramas like this to create a hurricane of angst, followed by dialogue that nobody would ever say out loud. But Tamako Love Market doesn't fall into this trap.
Instead,…

As mentioned in my Tamako Market review, I’m pretty sure the fans were left with void concerning Mochizou’s and Tamako relationship being stagnant throughout the series. The movie announcement was surprising and really all they needed. Mochizou wasn’t a prime character in the series but they shifted their entire focus to him and Tamako throughout the movie.
Kyoto Animation movies are usually a feast for eyes and I am happy to say they delivered. The confession scene was unexpected for Tamako but later when she realizes what has just happened, the world around her becomes completely colorful
The movie did well to help our main duo mature. Tamako and Mochizou were faced with a new decision in their lives and it was about the future. While for Tamako the decision only on the cover seemed to…

It’s early morning, the sun hasn’t risen in its brilliance yet. Alone, a girl walks out onto the street of the dark marketplace. This is her home. Slowly, the stores start to open and people start to get ready for the day. Familiar voices fill the clear air, and the light from the shops pierce the dark. The market begins to breathe again, as usual. While time has stopped for her, the world around her keeps moving, keeps living.
It’s scenes like this that really stick with me. It just earnestly conveys life in a quiet and familiar way. Tamako Love Story is not just a love story; it’s a reflection on life and human emotion that, despite its flaws, faithfully captures the ups and downs of life.

One of my favorite films about adolescence.
Some might complain that the romance was dry or the art style made them not take the movie seriously. For me though, I loved everything about this film. The story, art, music, and sure, throw in the characters as well. By the end of the movie, all of them had changed from the beginning of the movie and it amazes me every time. How could they change in such a short time but still make sense?
Slight Spoiler:
I also love the details. How the sky changed color during the confession, from orange to a more pinkish hue, basically showing that the mood had changed from before Mochizou started his confession. Another detail is when the dandelion blew away after the baton club's performance, indicating that everyone's dreams are finally starting to com…
