The Brilliant Healer's New Life in the Shadows

The Brilliant Healer's New Life in the Shadows

Introduction

Healers have always been a pivotal part of the Kingdom of Herzeth, but becoming one requires an official license, which demands years of studying. Despite growing up poor, a pragmatic young man, Zenos, taught himself everything about healing. As an exceptional healer, Zenos was even recruited by an adventurer party but eventually kicked out. When he meets and helps an elf slave named Lily, he realizes his new ambition: he wants to open a clinic in the shadows, serving those who may otherwise be cast aside. Zenos starts his underground practice alongside Lily, but he is immediately pulled into a conflict between lizardmen, werewolves, and orcs—which he quickly resolves and unites the races, thanks to his healing abilities. However, when the royal knights hear rumors of his recent accomplishments and are less than pleased, Zenos must find a way to continue his operations without compromising his principles. Yami Healer is way better than Chiyu Mahou/Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic. There, I've said it. I honestly have no idea why that show was rated so high, as you can see in my profile I dropped it after 7 episodes even made a review about how much a wasted potential that show could have been. Probably the same people who rated that show so high rated this show badly after that misleading first episode and expect a generic harem (which is NOT the case). I generally don't talk much about other shows in my review but I feel the need to address to this considering both anime are quite similar in a way that the MC is a healer/use healing magic. Now meet Zenos, he gets tossed out of his adventuring party for being "useless" bla bla you know the drill. But instead of the usual "I'll show them" o…

I have an analogy I always bring up when it comes to "OP" protags in stories. Oftentimes, it's like watching someone play a video game with cheat codes on, and this story unfortunately suffers from this issue. The protag is really overpowered when it comes to his healing. Like, he can just heal anything that comes to mind without any struggle. Sure, it's the gimmick of the story, but man. It's so dull with its execution. Characters get hurt, and this guy just heals everything like it's no big deal. Naturally, many of the characters he heals are different girls as part of his would-be harem (wasted because he is not interested romantically in them in any shape or form). As a result, you just get episodes where his harem throws themselves at him (to no avail), and the guy just solves ano…

The Brilliant Healer's New Life in the Shadows is yet another "undervalued main character" type story, and it doesn't try to hide it, rather fully embracing and leaning into it. The characters are all predictable and struggle to be compelling. The side cast pledges allegiance and loyalty to the protagonist while the current antagonist(s) fall in the range between arrogantly shortsighted or painfully egotistical. For anyone who's had their fair share of cookie cutter anime, they'll be able to accurately pinpoint the personality and dialogue of each character whether by design or flawed writing. Not to mention the main character, who just runs around solving everything after farming other characters' reactions to his unparalleled strength. On the topic of the main character, there seems to…

The first episode is more like a pilot episode. Like Ep:00. It reminds me of the pilot episode of Star Trek. You know, the one that didn't have Captain Kirk in it, And Spock had emotions... It's seems like it was i trail run of some sorts. So Basically, the show REALLY starts out on Ep02. With that out of the way, I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoyed this one! The characters were funny, and I found myself laughing out loud many times! The story arc was fascinating and easy to follow. It even has a James Bond-esque subversion plot twist that I didn't see coming. If you're looking for something short, but entertaining, you've found it here. Highly recommended watch!

Starting this felt like a chore after episode one, but I stuck with it and got rewarded. The Brilliant Healer's New Life in the Shadows works because Zenos isn't another revenge obsessed hero. He runs his underground clinic like a business, charges for his services, and builds something real in the slums. The supporting cast actually matters. Lily and the gang leaders have personality beyond standard tropes. Medical fantasy scenarios stay interesting. Animation holds up fine. Pacing issues hold it back from greatness. Conflicts resolve too fast and lack weight. Some character shifts feel rushed. Still delivers a solid power fantasy without excessive edge. Perfect for chill viewing. As my first review here, glad I didn't drop this early.

The first episode is pretty bad, as it's one of those one offs that is a random story from the middle. I'd say just skip it. Well, I'd say just skip the show, since it's your generic fantasy with an overpowered protagonist and everyone else acting super dumb. Like the main thing of this show is everyone being really impressed with how talented the main character is, while he's just like "it's no big deal" even after repeatedly being shown it's a big deal when seeing what other healers can do. I finished it since I had it dubbed and it was kinda on in the background a bit. Some other very dumb plot points are the pevious party somehow not noticing that they were getting healed the whole time. Like even if they are healed, they would feel the pain of being cut before they were healed. Then…

I really liked this one. In a time where isekais and overpowered MCs are running around rampant trying to follow in the footsteps of Sword Art Online and Solo Leveling to become the next big thing. Animes like these is a breath of fresh air. It has the same plot, but it's story is interesting and different than what we are mostly used to. Hope we get more of this, it is a fun watch, but maybe not. Again, this anime is not following the same formula like so many others do, meaning it can't become mainstream, and produce more seasons.

I personally like anime's where the mc is overpowered but doesn't flaunt it or get cocky. Zenos, the mc, is just a chill guy who will heal anyone who asks (as long as they pay a fee) and has come to gain many allies with his attuned skills. Some could say that a downside to this anime is that Zenos seems to accidentally have created a harem for himself, HOWEVER, Zenos does not entertain these women in anyway nor does he get flustered like other mcs, and the women that follow Zenos are not overly sexualised so I'd this feature can be overlooked. I would rate this anime a strong 8/10. Fun watch, especially with how creative the mc's abilities is used in some episodes.

I rate anything based on how entertaining it was, first and foremost, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Is it complex, deep, thought-provoking, and/or poignant? Not really, no. Did it need to be? Not necessarily. It was funny, had some excellent waifu deisigns, and passed the time during meals. It doesn't seem like this was ever meant to be the next big thing, but aren't there always shows like this? I've dropped plenty of shows for being generic slop, so I don't blame you if you don't like it, but some reviews just seemed a bit harsh. Turn your brain off, have a laugh.

Honestly I went in to this show thinking it'd just be another generic fantasy anime that had nothing to offer, however I enjoyed my time with this show more than I expected "The Brilliant Healer's New Life in the Shadows" is a decent anime, nothing special, it has it's typical cliché stuff you'd expect from harem related anime but I quite enjoyed the characters both design wise and personalities even if rather simple, it is a good show overall and would love to see the story continue in a possible second season. If you are looking for a masterpiece of a anime, this isn't that but it is a very enjoyable one to sit back and watch if you haven't got any bigger more impactful shows to watch currently. Therefore as much as I would like to recommend it, there are things in the show which may t…

If you're looking for anime with similar stories and concepts, you'll find a few out there. However, most of them typically have poor execution. This one, though, I personally think has a story executed well enough to enjoy. I'm not saying it's amazing, but it's decent enough to watch compared to other similar anime. The story itself is pretty light and doesn't drag on too much, which makes it easy for me just to chill and enjoy it. The visuals are also quite good, especially since they don't use a lot of CGI or 3D animation that would mess things up. As for the music, I'd say it's good, especially the opening and ending songs. So, if you're just looking for some casual entertainment, this anime might be a good fit. The story, in my opinion, is pretty mid and not worth diving deep into.…

“The Brilliant Healer's New Life in the Shadows” is what happens when a good idea is butchered by incompetent writing. I don’t think there is another way to put it so here it goes: This show is a self-jerk fest. The protagonist is a boring, blank slate with no personality except what a 13 year old would think is cool. And I probably insulted a lot of 13 year olds right now. There are no stakes at all in all 12 episodes. There is no real point in watching this show. There is no story, no morals, no lessons… Well, there is one: “Always get paid for Your work”. Honestly? It’s not the worst lesson, but the way it is introduced is really lazy. Actually that term can be used to describe all of the plot, it’s full of cliches, overused tropes and lacks anything that could be called original. Ther…

Another genetic anime from the "someone got fired again" craze. The first ep. came across as pure filler to me, since nothing happened in it except for the introduction of the harem. And then it started in the classic way. The MC got fired, he saves the elf who loves him to the core, then the harem starts to come and heal him gradually. Every woman falls in love with him and they basically start to pester him. Harem is my least favorite genre so I don't need it, since women were the classic genetic characters (which is a well-worn song after x years and it would finally change). And that's just the first 3 ep. Then Krishna appears here, who pretends to be a typical knightly character fighting for the rights of the oppressed, but I would rather call her a walking random word generator, bec…

This anime is SURPRISINGLY GOOD. The first half of this anime isn't great, but not bad either. But if you watch it all the way through, you'd realise that every detail pays off. DO NOT Judge this anime by the first few episodes, It 100% gets better. It's not just an "OP MC goes brrrrr" the first few episodes can make you feel that way but it's not. The only thing I dislike about it is Lily having a brother complex 😮‍💨 Like what is up with Japan's obsession with lolycon and incest 😭 I'd say it's better to binge watch this one. The first half isn't as engaging but still in my opinion it would be better to binge watch this one.

An anime about a healer getting kicked out of a party for being seen as useless, and then having a fateful encounter and starting a clinic in the slums. I want to start by saying that I am proud of myself that I realized it is a new studio first real production right from the get go, from episode 1! Will explain a bit later... Also, be warned that the presentation of the anime is a weird one, where episode 2 is actually the start of the anime, and episode 1 is just like a filler showcasing the state after the events in the rest of the season... so don't drop it after episode one because it feels like they drop you in the middle of a story and don't explain anything. Yes, again, another healer getting kicked out of the party for being seen as useless... feels like I've watched so many l…

The Brilliant Healer's New Life in the Shadows. is story which lot like recent Anime's where protagonist isn't aware of how he is. Nowadays there are lot of OP characters but this feels kind of justified. Main character is kicked out of party opens a clinic finds out he is OP over the span of 12 Episodes. He of course becomes famous. and of course defies common sense of his world by having multiple power. pretty standard. here comes the good part, unlike others the story is unique. You may think " I know the villain" but you will be surprised. it has 2 arcs both are good. the first Episode is waste totally. Tries to be funny but isn't. but what I like is he uses his abilities. unlike some anime where they show OP has abilities but never shows them. it doesn't feel long or stretched. so i…

I almost dropped it after episode 6 because of how bland and bad it was. Then I remembered I have no life, no self-respect, and I'm to lazy to do anything meaningful, so watched the rest of the episodes too. There's a limit to how many times you can view your top 20 favorite series before you need to watch something else. I don't get how this has nearly the same rating as "Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru" from the same season. It definitely doesn't deserve a serious review... is what I wrote after viewing 6 episodes and giving it a lenient "high 3". After watching the rest, I slightly changed my mind and now give it a lenient low 4. If you're out of things to watch and rewatch, and you hate your life only a little, maybe this is actually watchable. The top positive review says to skip…

Audience surrogate protagonist that is always right, but misjudged by his peers for dumb reasons. Although all the girls like him. Overwhelming, all-encompassing power that transforms all straits and crises meant to force this ambitionless protagonist forward into just minor chores that make him leave his house for 15 minutes. A whole cast of literal cardboard cutout characters that don't matter and bring nothing to the story, and who have no story to tell of their own, and any philosophical/societal stances they take are ridiculously moronic if they differ from protagonists (read. from audiences) point of view. Minimal worldbuilding of "medieval class-based society with magic", that can't decide if the main thing wrong with society is nobility or wealth disparity. So yes, it's a weak ani…

DO NOT JUDGE THIS ANIME BY THE FIRST EPISODE! The first episode makes it seem like it's just going to be another generic harem slop anime, but episode 2 onwards is COMPLETELY different. I honestly don't know why they decided to structure it like this. In fact, I reckon you can completely skip episode 1, and start watching straight from episode 2. This is because episode 1 happens "in the future", and episode 2 is the actual start of the story. So yeah, just save episode 1 for after you finish watching the anime. Or don't. It doesn't really matter. Just make sure you watch episode 2 as well, because it's a lot better and actually makes you feel like watching the rest of the show.

The Brilliant Healer's New Life in the Shadows - It's actually better than you'd expect, though as the title alludes, it's not brilliant. For as long as the AniManga industry has existed and churned out titles that have quickly become sub-genres of their very own, one such trope that always seems to make its resurgence time and time again is this "banished from the hero's party," though its execution will differ based on the story beats and how authors choose to execute their creations on the plate that's the deciding factor between mediocrity and decency (I don't even bother to mention good or bad, because what's the use of the metric at this point?). Some can be rather ludicrous, and others can be plain and simple and worth at least a watch (even if they aren't good to begin with), and…
