There’s something about this anime that makes me want to stay in its world a little longer.
I really love the atmosphere of this anime. The way it portrays magic, nature, and folklore makes everything feel so peaceful yet mysterious. Sometimes, I don't even need anything major to happen. Just watching the scenery, listening to the music, and seeing the little interactions between the characters is enough to keep me interested.
I also like how the story explores Chise and Elias as individuals who are still learning about themselves and others. Their relationship is far from perfect, but seeing them slowly learn about emotions and human connections is one of the things that makes this anime interesting to me.
It's not an anime for everyone, though. The pacing can be slow, and some parts m…

The Ancient Magus’ Bride is one of those anime that slowly pulls you into its world without you even realizing how invested you have become. The atmosphere is probably what I love the most: beautiful, melancholic, magical, and sometimes genuinely unsettling. It feels like stepping into an old fairy tale where not everything beautiful is necessarily kind.
Chise's journey is especially interesting because she doesn't suddenly become strong or confident. Her growth is slow, painful, and feels earned. And Elias… well, their relationship is strange as hell, complicated, and definitely not something you can easily put into a normal romance box—but that's exactly what makes it fascinating.
I came for the magic and stayed for the weird creatures, ancient folklore, emotional damage, and the absolut…

It's pretty infuriating that Chise's convinced that she needs Elias no matter what. He may have been the person who bought her into that world (both literally and figuratively), but every step of the way he was self-serving in a way that really rubbed me the wrong way, especially with how the show seems to acknowledge the fact that he's a selfish creep but just plays it off for laughs.
The show's setting, art, and OST are all beautiful and the show does a fine job exploring human connections and interactions between the majority of the cast, but fumbles with the two main characters they insist on pushing as a couple. One could argue that Elias having his own motivations and acting on them makes him an interesting character, but he ends up coming off as really selfish and immature while th…

Its crazy how that anime and berserk are similar
The world building is so closely aligned but the art style is different
The anime lacks a lot of points like there is a lot if miss scenes and the characters are weakly made
But the world design is the power point here so I have mixed feelings about it
I enjoyed it anyways regardless of the bad romance lol.
I hate to say it but the romance is so baaaad here like u should not put it in romance gonrra
They just misunderstand each other's everyday abd expect us to feel something where they are try to recklessly fix there relationship

Well, this anime surely does tries to convey a whole lot of things. It even wears the now featureless tattered skin of romance over it's mangled mutilated corpse. Why? Because this show tries to be so much, but it never trully got 1 thing right. I will however give it a passing grade for at least trying.
I am a person who was always intrested in the whimsy and the fantastic . But when everything is whmiscal and fantastical, that abnormality becomes a simple reality. That's what this show did to me personally, an overload of the whimsy and fantastic. A vomit of fairy tales and the occult. Sorcerers ,Mages and Witches, fairies ,dragons, faceless amalgams, you name it they have it. And since they crammed so much, they really didn't bring out the differences between some of them, outside of sor…

This one is a little tough for me, since the pacing of this show isn't consistent. The world is very interesting, and you learn about it gradually as Chise does. A lot of character designs are really nice, especially Elias. Their relationship, while a bit problematic, is explored in a way that perhaps highlights the problematic nature of it.
Throughout the show I really the world and fantastical elements, but was not engaged fully to need to watch further. They tackle a lot of temporary issues throughout the show, so you get some small stories. These all lead to character development though, so it's not that bad.
Usually with a show that doesn't engage me fully, I would give it a 6, but this one had a few moments that pushed it past the edge. The overall vibe, and the select strong and e…

Anime is about a 70+ wanting to marry a 15 year old. Something that many places in real life is a sad reality, especially 100+ year ago. But moving on from real life history
After that start, of cour the anime has other sexual fantasies of the autour, like said girl becoming a slave who is brough via money (very frecvent element in H games)
Student who is in a relationship with their teacher
Being who are clearly naked lolies <- no explicit stuff is shown, unless you count the rare moments when said femele are taking a position that are taken when having sex but otherwise, no one make such positions, but whatever, what I wrote sound way wrose then it's actually happening, after all, this anime is NOT an ecchi anime. and while the list goes on, you need to pay attention to such things si…

Turns out this large demonic man Elias Ainsworth is actually very kind and caring to Chise. The first person to ever show her affection.
She is made his wizard's apprentice. Turns out Chise is a special girl with a unique condition. A condition that Elias wishes to study and learn alot from.

6.5/10 ~ Kinda boring, bad pacing
Finally watched it, show hit the top of my backlog watch list. It's one of my roommate's favorite shows. It's about two autistic ppl who struggle with emotions. Makes sense, as roommate probably projects himself into the show.
Feels a bit like the world of Harry potter too, which I don't care for.
The Girl is ruled by empathy.
Skull man is ruled by sympathy. And they struggle to use the other emotion.
Show is so fucking slow and pretty boring to be honest. I'm not an action junky... but things just happen for no reason and it feels like list snap shots of their life. Probably just the pacing is bad/bad writing or detecting.
However the world building and character growth is good and the main girl Chise reminds of me of my ex-life partner and that's…

This is my first review. It's worth noting that this being my first romance anime, my perspective may be influenced by a history of predominantly watching Romance-Comedy.
Chise, the main character in the anime, comes across as delicate, gentle, and somewhat oblivious to her own feelings. This can be occasionally frustrating as she tends to brush off her emotions by claiming not to understand them, only to readily express them when the focus shifts to others.. While the ambiance and music contribute to a captivating experience, the character development appears somewhat lacking. The main theme seems to stagnate intentionally, almost as if being deliberately prolonged. Elias, being a non-human entity, may struggle to understand emotions or empathize due to his nature. However, it's perplex…

I was hesitant to give this 8 stars at first, thinking maybe it was a 7 star show just because very little of the season has to do with any actual romance between Elias and Chise and the title/genre suggests it would have more to do with the contents. The reason I think it's an 8 though is because 7 is an average score for me, much like a C, and I think that this show was more enjoyable than average.
This was how I spent my new years day, and I was definitely pleasently surprised. At first, I thought it would be a lighthearted romance that simply had treacherous background stories, but the pasts of the characters ended up being very significant to the active story, and were very disturbing. I tend to enjoy disturbing anime when it surprises me because if you don't expect it, you get more…

While delivering fantastic visuals, and some world-building, it fails at every other aspect— I just couldn't care for the other characters or the relationship between Chise and Elias.
The whole time I felt like Silvery (my favourite character), just a spectator. No actual connections, but episode 22 was done well. The visuals and sceneries were amazing at times breathtaking and impressive. The story on the other hand was lackluster, along with the characters —They were interesting but lacked depth...

What a splendid time, this was. My favorite anime/manga of all time now. And I owe it all to a friend of mine who introduced me to it. I love it so much I've bought every manga volume up to date as of now, every volume of not one but two of the spin-off manga, the two light novels and I've got the entire first season as well as the OVA's on Blu-Ray. I'm totally gonna see this entire series through to the end because of how beautiful it is, both visually and narratively.
Realistically, Chise is at the breaking point and lowest form of depression that she's just one step away from suicide. It's no wonder she does something like sell herself off as property given she feels her life is worthless. All because she has the power to see magical creatures (fae beings) when almost nobody else can.…

I have so much to say about this anime but to keep it short and simple this is a modern essential for almost any anime fan.
I only want to address one glaring issue I had with the show, since if I talk about everything this show is amazing at this review would be an dissertation. I recommend going into this show blind, trust me, it's a treat.
The only reason Magus Bride is NOT a 10, is because I simply can not get over the age dynamic between the shows main protagonists Elias and Chise. However, to the shows credit, I can confidently say that it is tasteful in it's execution. Without spoiling too much Chise's age is used as a plot device that would perhaps have less impact if she was 18 or older. Additionally, aside from literally two short scenes that made me feel slightly uncomfortable…

This series was fantastic. The animation was colorful and beautiful. I did watch the dubbed version first and I love Chise's voice actress. It matches her character so well from the manga. The ending was pretty subtle but cute. It doesn't leave you thinking there would be a season 2, but there is, which makes me more hyped for it to come out. I would recommend this anime to Studio Ghibli lovers and fantasy romance lovers. If anyone is a wiccan or if you know someone who is into witchcore, recommend this title to them. Even if they haven't seen an anime before, they will like it.

The world is truly vast, beautiful, mesmerizing, filled with mysteries that refuse to give up their secrets. Mystery inspires awe, and awe lies at the heart of man’s yearning to comprehend. You see, I love Science ever since I am in primary school. I discover something new, I find out how things work and I learn the laws that govern this world through Science. Every little bits of information that fills my mind slightly change the way I view the world. Though, the pursuit of knowledge does not obliterate the sense of awe and mystery. There’s always more to discover.
This is exactly how I feel when I'm watching Mahoutsukai no Yome. It is an enchanting tale which combines the elements of fantasy, romance and supernatural that takes viewers on a captivating journey through a world where mag…

I loved this anime!! It was heartwarming, had cool characters and nice art. I think the thing people get most caught up on is the age difference, which is obviously understandable, but who knows what Elias is or how he ages. He’s gained a lot of knowledge about magic, apparently, but is completely ignorant in every single other aspect and often acts similar to her age. I love their interactions because most of the time he might as well be younger than her with their dynamic.
Characters: 10/10
My favorite part was the characters!! I love Chise and Elias’ dynamic, but I almost love Chise and Ruth’s more. It’s hard to choose. A lot of the secondary cast are fun and interesting as well, and the antagonist(s) are top tier. Chise, the main character shows such depth in personality with her str…

When the anime began airing, the community was split in half. There were those who were amazing with the fantastical world and the premise of an emotionally damaged female protagonist being given a second chance in life. And then there were those who 5 minutes into the opening scene of the OVAs had ‘nope’d out. It was another pro-slavery series where it’s fine to own slaves if you treat them well. This sick power fantasy that is mostly encountered in bottom of the barrel stories (which so happen to be mostly isekai) is enough to alienate all those who are not willing to see past it. And you can’t blame them, since there truly isn’t such a thing as good slavery. You either own slaves or you don’t. However you treat them does not change the fact you own them, they are in dept to you, and you…

A truly MAGICAL anime from the plot to animation to the music. A lot of moments will make you feel as if you’ve transported into a magical world. So in that sense this anime has done a fantastical job!!
The ancient magus bride is a fantasy romance anime which is set in Europe, only chise Japanese. I think this is one of those few anime which may suit English dub better due to its setting. However japanese dub is pretty phenomenal too. If you suffer from depression etc, then you’ll have a lot to relate with chise, the fl. It’s a story about how she is born afresh in the sense that after a horrid past she learns to find positivity in everything, after being cast away by everyone she still sacrifices herself for the sake of others….and last but not the least, she finds love in what is techn…

This is honestly one of my favorite anime. I cannot recommend it enough. it is one of those anime that makes you feel calm and at peace. I love how it focuses on "Old Magic", and is currently the only anime I am aware of that does so which makes it so unique. For some odd reason this anime smells of moss and the woods, which I know is odd to say. I love the overall theme of it and how they build connections with each of the characters. The animation style is perfect for the story they are trying to portray and gives it an almost warm feeling. I am fervently awaiting the next season!!
