Lets just say up front, I enjoyed this show a lot.
I think its a cool show and as an archer myself it was exciting to watch. Overall the visuals are nice and the shooting is interesting. However my main issues are that the boys aren't very interesting characters, and the girls who are introduced at the beginning never seem like real characters. They have roles in the series basically only as plot development for the boys to progress, whipping them to shape a couple times. Even their shooting tends to be simply skipped over. For a show that stated in the beginning, "There is no gender segregation in kyoudo", the show definitely feels like it goes out of its way to separate the girls at every opportunity. The way the boys also keep mainly talking about the girls as some kind of eye-candy do…

Tsurune as expected from a Kyoto production is absolutely beautiful and is an easy enjoy for fellow animation lovers as has no trouble creating a beautiful atmosphere around a rather niche sports anime.
The plot is what might be difficult for some to get behind but is what makes it so special for those who can understand it. Tsurune is not your typical high octane sports anime that seeks to create adrenaline filled battle like moments out of something that’s not. The show acknowledges the simplicity and rather peaceful nature of Kyudo as a journey for oneself or their team rather than a battle against another. The peaceful yet inspiring and philosophical energy in this show is incredibly noteworthy and is definitely something to be appreciated as it’s not a feeling I’ve gotten from many…

This show has quality writing. If you want smirking villains, constant intrigue and drama — this show will not do that. The characters here are kind and honest. Their struggles are struggles of self, of growing, and the conflicts are small and intimate. Tender. Each character has someone they love, not in some abstract way but portrayed directly.
All of this happens as they learn archery, which perhaps could be boring for some. The competition is indirect, the drama is again internal. This show portrays archery as meditative and spiritual. It renders the intricacies of kyudo, each measured draw of the bow and arc of the flying arrow, with endless attention.

This was such a brilliant show I didn’t think I was going to fall in love with it as much as I did given I wasn’t too interested in archery prior to watching this show. Keeping in mind this is a sport anime so the archetype is going to feel similar what I mean is the characters personality types and all that stuff might feel similar to other sport anime at least it did for me but despite that fact it still felt fresh and interesting, it stood out to me and I found myself smiling at all the characters.
The feels are definitely going to be there, being happy for them when they win and sad when they lose or fight or are struggling. I find growth to be a really beautiful thing so I can say that was one of my favorite aspect of this show.
The animation is beautiful as well as the music. The e…

Although Tsurune is a fairly simple anime and doesn't invent anything, I consider that it accomplishes what it sets out to do and isn't presumptuous. Personally, the first time I saw it I like it but nothing more, it was okey. But, over time, I couldn't stop thinking about the warm feeling it left me with. After watching it again several years later, I can assure you that Tsurune is a comfort anime for me.
It has the dramatic touch of KyoAni that I like so much, characters that I generally find interesting (although none of them are very original) and a beautiful animation. If something stands out, it is the animation.
Also, from the beginning I like that we not only have a male group of characters practicing the sport, but also three girls in the same club, somet…

I would say tsurune is more of a philosophical anime than sports anime per se. I dived into it thinking I was going to watch a sports anime something similar to “run with the wind” or “free” instead of haikyuu etc. Even with those expectations it was truly beyond it too. Tsurune is an anime about finding one self rather than doing some sport. Archery, here, represents more about the way of life. And coupled with KyoAni’s fantastic animation and masaru yokoyama’s soothing soundtracks, this anime presents itself as a healing slice-of-life. If you’re feeling empty then I’d suggest you to give this a try, because there’s so much to relate to minato and even masaki. They are phenomenal in kyuudou but suffer from target panic and although we don’t see masaki’s journey from the start, we do get t…

Tsurune: Kazemai Koukou Kyuudoubu is a good show. Honestly, there is a certain standard one expects from KyoAni and surely this show didn't disappoint in that department.
Simply speaking, the basics of the story are similar to Free!. We are introduced to the main character named Minato (aka Haru), who abandoned his beloved archery, after developing target panic. After a faithful meeting with the coach Masaki, he nevertheless joins his school's archery team, where he is joined by his best friend Seiya (aka Tachibana), an archery rookie Ryouhei (aka Rei), cheerful Nanao (aka Nagisa) and tsundere Onogi. We are also very early on introduced to his childhood friend Shu (aka Rin), who competes for the rival school's team. The story, therefore, follows an already seen format towards safe waters…

I'll tell you what, if you're like me and you like Free!, this anime is right up your alley. I, for one, found Tsurune to be a very satisfying experience nearly all around. Putting the one thing I didn't quite enjoy to its fullest potential right here at the beginning, there were a few points of character development along this journey that felt either unnecessary or drawn on, but it really only happened in flashes, so it didn't matter to me all that much.
What I was most impressed with was how simple Tsurune was because simple is difficult to pull off well in an anime that's also incorporating elements of drama and representation of mental illness and damaging experiences. What Tsurune managed was a series that showed off the beauty of kyuudo through these characters' coming together as…

Basic and short review here.
The art of this anime is fkn mesmerizing, there are scenes with extremely beautiful settings and the animation is so on point.
The first episodes were fire and everything looked super good but it gets so freaking boring.
The plot made no sense, I felt like I was watching a documentary of gay boys practicing the bow and arrow bc the boys have girly personalities, and the girls masculine personality? Girls had zero emotions! The dog had more emotions than any girl in this anime, also much repetitive and dull arguments between boys drama, plus the SLOW pace of sequence of events. The story didn't even give background information for 80% of the characters. Looks like the people who made this just wanted all the boy x boy content, if you know what i mean...
I will…

art and sound are my taste
character they are indifferent, only minato masa seiya have a good character story, Nanao and red head boy, and Ryohei doesn't look very attractive.
The whole story is based on a first novel. So I went and read book vol 2 and i want to know and can't wait for ss2.
Ep.13 very fantastic
op ed bgm very fantastic
story The first period was a bit slow, wanted to add more time for the race, felt it was a bit short. I want to expand the history of each person as well, such as Nanao, red-head boy, Ryohei, and a group of women in the club with very few chapters.

In all the years I've watched anime, I've found some genres that I like and others I don't. Some I outright hate, like ecchi and fanservice, some I really love when executed well, and others I don't really gravitate to, like romance, horror, and sports. There's been a real influx of sports anime lately, what with stuff like Free, Kuroko's Basketball, Haikyuu, Sk8 The Infinity, and so on. I was never into sports, and still have no interest in it, but there is one sport I really came to love that unfortunately isn't all that popular in the US: Archery. My high school gym class had sporadic periods where we could do archery on occasion, and I absolutely loved it, even though I wasn't too good at it. So imagine my surprise when I found that there was an actual anime solely about archery!...but…

I saw one scene of this anime on TikTok and I was really curious about it. Honestly, the story itself isn't very special or unique. It's really simple, the drama is good, but not too dramatic. The characters are also simple, nothing too outstanding. But I guess this is the magic of this anime.
The animation stands out and makes this anime even more interesting. The frames are so beautiful and their movements are so natural, it's a pretty sight. The opening and the ending songs are great too, especially the opening - the singer's voice is so goood!
But, the real reason that make me watch this anime was the sport. I think if it was a different one, I would drop it, but kyuudou is a fascinating sport. Mixing this with the animation, the characters, and the story makes a very nice anime to wa…

Awww what a heartwarming story!
This anime is pure enjoyment! Warm bright colors, beautiful music, amazing and pretty art! Kyoto animation really delivers the best
Best part is, its all real! there are no supernatural powers or exceptional skills. its just as real as it gets!
Story is a bit slow at the beginning, and I wished they showed more flashbacks of MC past and Masa-san's life. But I guess its more in the manga?
I'm really excited for the movie! Hope its a sequel and not a recap of the first season! Hope they make more seasons as well
I think I've found another comfort anime

Tsurune, the sound of trust, friendship, hardship and practice.
Everyone once waver, struggle, fear when they are passionate about something, it’s about to learn how to deal together about issues without falling alone.
I really enjoy sports animes genre, when I started Tsurune back when it was released I put it aside due to the slow-paced episodes and not-so-many actions, but here I am, years later, after retrying it and giving you my first review ever on this show.
A bit late, but I still hope to convince you to give Tsurune a try when your mood is up to a realistic, peaceful and heartwarming series.
• Story : 8/10 •
The story is centered on the relationship development between the kyudo club’s members.
As you may know, it’s known that to practice archery you need to be in harmony wi…

Tsurune is one of the most seemingly "real" sports anime. There isn't anything overly dramatic, there's no screaming or anything like that.
The characters are where I feel that it falls a bit short, but certainly not "bad". Our main five guys consist of: "main character who makes a lot of mistakes on the path to perfection," "smart guy who wears glasses and is a good resource to the team," "angry, seemingly standoffish guy who just wants the best for his team and really does care," "tall friendly guy who isn't too bright but gets serious when it matters," and "guy who is always chasing girls but is also really good at what he does."
All five trope characters from every sports anime. To compare them (roughly) to Haikyuu characters, for example: Hinata, Tsukishima, Kageyama, Asahi, and Ni…

was hesitating whether to give this a 8 or 9. then i watched the scene after the credits of the last episode. instantly decided on 9. tho there r some parts in this anime where power of friendship made challenges too easy to overcome imo, its mostly v good. bad at reviews but i wld say if u like sporty kinda animes that focus on both the sport plus the charas, watch this. tho i didnt really get attached to the charas cuz ig eh they arent for me, but the concepts behind the main charas is quite hard for me to understand like there were a lot of times i dont understand their actions but yea anyways watch it hahaha

This is a hidden gem. It's a much watch!
It has one of the most sad firt episode i have ever seen. The sad soundtrack instrumental piano follows through great part of the anime.
Minato starts fleeing. In some point, he loses track of the thing he like, but he has a bestie who keeps following him around, waiting for him to come back, and has a coach, some 23 years old guy, who seems mature to the high scholers, but they're all strugling through life.
You'll also learn a lot about the path of the achery 弓(arch) 道(path) which is pretty much a philosophy of life, like many things in japanese. The serene mind, the rituals, the appreciation. One of the things that catch my attention was how, inside the form to shoot a arrow, soon after the release, you watch and appreciate the shot arrow

Seriously one of the greatest sports anime I have ever seen!!! I love this show more than anything! It's right up there in my top three anime of all time.
The plot is outstanding. I was so hooked and never bored, and binged it all in one day. The actual spot of archery was tremendous to watch and I was so interested!!! You will definitely learn a lot about the sport and culture. It is so much more than shooting an arrow at a target.
The music... Gorgeous. Stunning. Fit the show so well. I cried. I laughed. I smiled. I even gasped. Literally the music elevates every scene, and the hype right before they shoot an arrow.. wow!!
The characters are all top-notch. I could not get enough. They are all so good-looking and their bonds are so fun to watch. Seriously epic bromance. And then the…

I really wanted to love Tsurune, because it's a good anime. But to be quite frank, it's nothing great. It's well executed enough and the best part of the show was when they focused on the archery, which I wish they focused more on that. The animation is great. It had the recipe to be great but it get held back by the bland characters. It just felt like the characters were written to fit the story arc the episode was trying to tell but with no actual substance. This was my first try at a sports anime so I can't comment on where it fits in the sports anime genre but it's probably worth watching if you are a fan of the genre.
It's a solid 7. Good, but not great.

The show was good.
I really enjoyed the concept.
It was like any other sport anime and the things were same with this one like in any other anime in same genre.
The character design, the way the story progresses further and the way the opposition acts were really ordinary yet awesome.
This review will only tell you that it is same like any other sport anime out there but the thing is it is difficult to explain it how it is different.
For one thing the jealousy factor wasn't there according to me and yes that is the difference I have spotted so far.
Do give it a try as you might like this anime.
