If you're looking for good amimation and hot characters then give it a go. If you want good plot and interesting main characters then skip this show.
I really wanted to like this because the plot seemed interesting, but unfortunately it's just super underdeveloped. It takes like 15 episodes to learn the truth behind the war/family and its still pretty incomplete. It's like the whole show they gave me enough to think it would grow.
I felt like I learned more about Hotsuma and Kuroto's stories, personalities and backstories than anyone that was supposed to be a main character. I kinda wanted more development like that. The mention so many times about all these past lives but we really don't know anything about them. Everyone is obsessed with Yuki, they must protect him but honestly I stil…

This anime really spoke to me, I like to think the story was very thought out but at the same time unpredictable for first timers.
One thing that should be noted for this show, It's not really what I'd call Boys Love. At the very least its a suggestive BL leaning more toward the bromance angle and copious amounts of shipping on the viewer side. Fanservice is definitely lacking in this one but it's wholesome levels more than make up for it. Depending on what kind of Boys Love you are into, I can with confidence say this is more of the milder grade, and recommended for those starting to dig their rabbit hole in this genre. That being said, if you are an open minded person then you will have no trouble enjoying this anime.
The downfall with the show is how abruptly the ending came in this so…

Uragiri wa Boku no Namae wo Shitteiru (UraBoku from now on) is a great example of how visuals and sound aren't enough to make a series enjoyable to watch.
Visuals:
1) for a 2010 anime, the animation is very clean although inconsistent at times;
2) it took me a while to ignore how every character has a sharp chin, almost like they could stab someone with it
3) ugliest hands I've ever seen in any anime and I've been watching anime for over 16 years now!
4) unappealing color palette Sound:
1) soundtrack is okay
2) the seiyuus are IMO the biggest selling point this anime has to offer. UraBoku's entire cast is composed by legends of the voice acting industry. People that have hundreds of roles in their careers and that have voiced some of the most popular characters in anime history. Ev…

This anime alone has so much more potential then it will let itself have. In the first three episodes I was so very hooked into the story but all I got after was utter disappointment.
Story:
The story is very poor. There is a really good setup for something amazing here but the anime itself takes so many turns that you are confused. You get so much back story on every other character except the main ones. I know that it was planned to be another season but they could have at least gave us something to look forward to and they didn't. Honestly I wanted to quit by episode 12 and seeing the last episode I was so glad it was over.
Characters:
The overall visuals of the anime and characters are really good. However, a bunch of good looking anime guys(and a very pretty girl) can not cover for…

I was surprised at how much I actually liked this anime. I planned on watching it for the past ten years (no, really) and now that I finally did it I wonder why it took me so long. I am certain that I would have liked it even more if I would have watched it ten years ago.
Story-
The story isn't what I'd describe as amazing, but there is a pretty good plot that keeps you interested. I wasn't expecting much in terms of plot so I was taken by surprise. There are a few things that could have been polished a little, but overall not bad.
Art-
The art is just 2010s anime art, nothing more to say about it. It's not terrible, but it's not outstanding either.
Characters-
Here's where things get tricky. When it comes to the characters they are the very definition of cliché. However, that's not…

Review may contain vague spoilers, in part to address some of the issues previous reviewers of this anime had with the story and characters.
UraBoku is an anime near and dear to my heart. I think it survives as a relic of an anime genre that has faded to the background in recent years - an encapsulation of an entire aesthetic, style, and design that really just isn't found that much in anime anymore, but that I happen to adore to my heart till this very day. The fact that it serves this purpose legitimizes it to this day in my opinion - I'll explain why more below.
The story itself heavily references Christianity and utilizes Christian motifs - the romance is tragic and titillating at once with the featuring of Giou Yuki, the main character, being once a girl who chose to be reborn as a…

Oh boy, was I getting my hopes up for this show? That was rhetorical because the moment I watched it, I regretted it.
The score for this anime is way more than it deserves, only good thing is its art, where is plot really? What's plot?
What pissed me off more than plot missinf was the fact that creators are homophobic, made bishonen and shonen-ai in which characters never touch while the mc is guy, tf?? Not even a speck, like damn... don't make a shonen-ai to draw in girls, just so you get popularity please... sad attempt, you might be thinking they don't have to touch, what's wrong with you, you fujoshi girl? Buuut... the thing is okey? They never fail to show you that the mc was a girl and that they had a connection and been lovers, but they fail to ever show you any worthy moment of t…

This anime is disappointing on so many levels, especially because it has SO MUCH POTENTIAL. But it falls flat on almost all accounts.
STORY:
All. Over. The. Place.
Starting from the random names and powers that pop up without explanation and order. The story starts like ten sub-stories and finishes none of them. I understand that this is based on a manga that is supposedly a little better but in that case it would have been more favorable to go with just one story arc (that is Kanata vs. Yuki and co.) and finish it properly.
What we are left with is a confusing, boring and anti-climatic mishmash.
CHARACTERS:
The most bland and boring main pairing ever. Yuki does not do anything, ever, and neither does Luka. Their bond is only thinly held together by their past, they do not for one sec…

This review is of the anime only. I have not read the manga.
This anime is sometimes listed as shounen-ai but it really isn't. It's really more shoujo than anything. There are some very strong male-male friendships but there's nothing that definitively says any of the relationships are more than friendship. Yes, Luka and Yuki's used to be more, and that's made clear, but that doesn't seem to have transferred over to Yuki's current male life in the anime, on either of their parts, to be honest.
What I liked:
1. It's gorgeous. Aside from the triangle faces, the art is truly stunning in everything else. 2. It's a mostly male cast and the few females aren't annoying.
3. The characters have very strong motivations and wonderfully tragic backstories.
4. If one infers relationships beyo…

Hm, where do I start with this show. It wasn’t entirely a bad show, but it wasn’t necessarily a good one either. For one, the characters seem to have little to no ambitions outside of protecting Yuki and caring for Yuki’s wellbeing. In the Zweilt’s case, I understand that this is because their main role is to defend Yuki, but it’s unrealistic how quickly the characters seem to risk their lives for Yuki and treat him as a life-long comrade. The main upside is that all of the characters are pretty attractive so at least you have that to look forward to while watching the series. If I’m being honest that’s why I started watching.
There’s also a ton of information that is left unexplained by the show’s end. What happened to Yuki’s ability to understand someone’s inner suffering through touch?…

The story starts with an indirect promise for an exciting plot; but by the end of the 24th episode there's still left many unanswered questions for an expecting viewer. In overall the plot lacks solidity, therefore generating more and more questions along the way on Who, Why and How. Wish the character's grid were a bit more diverse on the Zweilt's part by adding more female roles to the fighting crew; anyhow the included array of characters can be regarded as a plus for the show. I honestly found the sound and specially the music of 'The betrayal knows my name' to be of great choice in both opening and closing credits.

裏切りは僕の名前を知っている - Uragiri wa Boku no Namae o Shitteriru is an enjoyable and atypical shoujo anime that not only features the expected larger cast of good-looking male characters, but is also very entertaining due to its action, magic and fantasy elements.
Story: Battle, reincarnation, soul-bonding, all a bit wrapped in black - clichéd but beautiful (7/10)
The story tells of the battle that has raged for more than a millennium between the demonic shadow creatures known as the Duras and humans with special abilities called the Zweilt Guardians. With the help of reincarnation, the battle has continued into the 21st century, and the battleground is now Japan's capital, Tokyo. Despite the first impression created by the larger male cast and the strong focus on feelings, emotions and sacrifice,…

Sakurai Yuki is a teenager with a mysterious power. He was abandoned at birth near the Asahi orphanage. Because of that event, Yuki strives for independence. He hates being a burden to anyone near him, but at the same time, he is afraid of being left alone. Moreover, ever since he can remember, he has had a strange ability that when he touches others, he can feel their emotion. Unable to control it, he's often made insensitive blunders in the past. He later meets a mysterious yet beautiful stranger who saves his life, but for some reason he feels like he's met before. While death looms and his ability gets stronger and stronger, a man who claims to be his older brother suddenly appears. What will Yuki do when he learns the truth?
My thoughts:
This anime was really good. I love the charact…

Betrayal Knows My Name focuses on a teenage orphan named Yuki who gets caught up in a conflict between the human Zweilt Guardians and the demonic beings known as Duras. The Duras seek to kill Yuki due to his powerful ability called God's Light being a potential threat to their efforts to take over humanity. Outside of the Zweilt Guardians, Yuki also has protection via Zess, a Duras who is a traitor of his kind due to his mysterious contract to protect Yuki from enemy threats.
Before I get into reviewing this series, I should address something that is fairly infamous with this anime and that comes in the form of the implication of it being a boys-love anime thanks to the close relationships that involve Yuki and Zess and a couple pairs of the Zweilt Guardians being young men. Having watche…

this anime has gone down in history as my least favorite anime i've watched. i've complained about it to many people, and here are the reasons why.
(bear in mind its been quite a while since i've seen this so excuse any missed details)
so, my very biggest issue with this was the plot (specifically the ending). there were so many ways this show could turn out and so many hints at the character's pasts. the majority of the show is based off of the character's backstories and the time loop they seem to be stuck in, but it's never explained. i watched 24 episodes and they did not go into any depth about the backstories, or any past lives or adventures when they clearly are crucial to where the characters have gotten to. i was hoping for some sort of explanation at the end, but i was left with…

There is so much I want to say about this, I can hardly figure out where to start from. I should perhaps start by noting that if you're in solely for the shounen-ai part, like I was, you might as well want to reconsider as there is literally nothing to satisfy your expectations...
Uragiri wa boku no namae wo shitteiru(Betrayal knows my name) - a flashy name and even flashier cover picture, with gorgeous young men, a real feast for the eyes, it makes you want to believe the contents will justify or perhaps correspond to the cover, alas it doesn't. Why is that?
If you ever thought you know the meaning of the word "cheesy", you're in for a surprise and you will most probably want to laugh, cry, howl and roar at the same time about every 5-10 mins from each episode.
PLOT - I believe if you…

I started watching this because I am on a binge watching anime with Sakurai Takahiro in a leading role. I know the Odagiri Hotaru, mangaka (though have not read the manga on which this anime is based), so I was expecting bishounen central, and lots of bromance, and that's what I got. There's even a story, but alas, for 24 episodes, not enough of it, and especially not enough progress.
I've got another 6 episodes to go, and I won't store this review until I am done, but at the moment I am just SO FED UP with the central character Yuki, who is the ultimate Mary Sue because everybody just loooooves him, even people who start out disliking him. He has this tragic back story, which unfortunately he doesn't remember a bit of, he's part of a star-crossed pair of lovers (he was female in his past…

This is probably one of the few anime that I have rewatched a third time. Yeah, that is how much I enjoyed this.
It had great character developement and funny moments to cover the serious ones. It had a great protecting-relationships between partners that worked together.
The drawing was also great and action scenes were drawn beautifully.
SO if you are wondering if this anime is for you, check the below list that includes what I think of this anime:
1. Action
2. Great Drawing
3. Male Main Character 4. Mostly Male Cast
5. Female are not squeaky or weak/pathetic
6. Great twists
7. No Harem/Ecchi/Reverse Harem/ etc
Give it a try then. It is really enjoyable and entertaining. I mean, it has beautifully drawn bishounens ! Grins

Story: 10
I mostly admire that the characters are easy to relate to. And I know it's basically just a romance in the middle of a large battle. But the story does have a lot of potential, so I hope that they make a second season to tie everything together. It's also interesting that the beginning was sort of like Twitches. Yuki is finding out about his powers while secretly being watched, not knowing that someone else (Kanata, my spelling could be wrong) is doing the same thing.
Art: 10
The art is the best that I've ever seen done, besides Rokka no Yuusha. The graphics are realistic, except for the wind blowing their hair around. I've never seen hair in the wind swaying in a perfect line.
The sound is good too, I can't really go into detail about it though.
Character: 10

Uragiri wa Boku no Namae wo Shitteiru, aka "Uraboku" is an anime of demons and super power.
At first sight, you think it's about good vs evil. However, it's not.
I'll start with good points.
The first episode is pretty promising. It makes you wonder about the story behind the characters and how the events will turn out.
The characters are drawn beautifully. The animation and the effects that appear when characters cast spells or use super powers are good as well.
But other than those, this anime has nothing to show.
So here are the bad points:
However good the first episode seems, the rest is actually boring. Nothing changes or develops. If you just wanna know how it ends, you can just watch first and last two episodes.
You don't really understand anything. No answers are given to the "W…
