Welcome to the Ballroom

Welcome to the Ballroom

Introduction

Tatara Fujita is a shy middle schooler who has no particular plan for the future. He has gotten through life by avoiding any kind of confrontation and blending in with the crowd. But blending in isn't enough to get out of trouble, as some bullies harass him for money. Luckily, he is saved by a man named Kaname Sengoku. Kaname invites Tatara to his dance studio. Although he would normally never set foot in such a place, Tatara is captivated by Sengoku's commanding presence. Granted an opportunity to dance with fellow classmate Shizuku Hanaoka—who often practices at the studio—Tatara realizes there's something about the idea of being put in the limelight and dancing where people will see him that keeps him coming back. With an earnest, passionate drive to improve, Tatara begins his journey into the world of competitive dance. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

One of the advantages of Japanese animation is that it can turn even a mediocre story into an interesting spectacle. The graphic techniques it uses have a number of advantages over feature films. It's hard to believe that ballroom dancing can be interesting. The authors managed to convey the deep psychology of the characters, their motivations and history, and combine it with exciting dance competitions. A beautiful, detailed story, wonderfully executed. Like any sports anime, the focus is on the characters’ motivation and their place in sports and life in general. Dancing is a very rare sport and subject matter overall, but it was genuinely interesting to watch the competitions. It’s a very uplifting story about overcoming oneself and a zest for life. Cool, relatable characters and great…

It is a travesty that there isn’t yet (and probably will never be) S2. I hope the mangaka gets better, though, and can tell the story as they fully envision it; though selfishly, I do wish they could have passed their plans onto the anime team and let us see further into the future of these characters… The art style threw me a little at first (feels so 2000s!) but I actually think the accentuated proportions and poses, etc. really lend themselves well to just how alien dance and dancers can seem. I liked the characters (found what little fanservice there was offputting but unimportant and uncentered, so thank you for that ig). The growth felt realistic; and all I wish is that we got to see it continue more. One of the last sentiments expressed is that Fujita has reached the starting line…

Welcome to the Ballroom is an anime that has claimed a special place in my heart. I had never watched it because of my prejudice against an artistic sport like ballroom dancing, and I had always pushed it aside. There’s nothing else to say except that it was a huge mistake. The animation is beautiful, fluid, and incredible in certain scenes, while the characters and situations are often very exaggerated, with extremely long necks and lively expressions. At first, the animation style may seem strange, but after the first few episodes you get used to it right away. I found the characters truly wonderful, and the story itself very engaging. You don’t need to know anything about dance to watch it: you can enjoy it whether you’ve danced your whole life or have absolutely no idea what it’s abo…

Despite many anime tropes I really hate, the anime had me coming back to finish it. The characters are likeable to an extent and the storyline made sense to me. A few moments really shine with their emotions. This made it all the more frustrating when there were unnecessary ‚fan service‘ moments and se*ualization of characters that are only 15 years old. I also understand the criticism regarding the animation of the dance scenes. The freeze frames of the poses are quite repetitive after some times which is frustrating in an anime about dancing. Even so, I really liked the art style in general and enjoyed watching it.

I had never watched an anime about ballroom dancing before, so it was something completely new to me. I went into it with pretty low expectations. The protagonist is a character who doesn’t really aim for anything in life — he has no dreams, no clear goals, and no real direction. He ends up finding himself through dance. Throughout the series, we are introduced to several characters, each with different personalities and varying levels of importance to the story. There’s quite a lot to say about the animation. There are many still frames and repeated scenes, to the point where you start wondering if you’re really watching a dance anime. But since I had gone in with low expectations, I didn’t find it that bad. What truly stands out is what happens inside the characters — their motivations…

If I were to say just one thing about this anime, I would just say that the last episode left a big smile on my face. I think sports anime are usually a little more boring than normal, but this was different, the story was handled well, it made sense for them to give the finale so they didn't add fake new seasons just for more money. In my opinion, this anime is one of the best sports anime I have watched. At first it seems like there is no point in ballroom dancing, but anime gives you the feeling of happiness that comes after your efforts.

i've never heard anyone talk about this work of art, it holds a great plot fitting for the "sport anime" genre, even tho some ppl may not view it as a sport. and if you've ever watched and enjoyed haikyuu, you'd definetly enjoy Ballroom e youkoso. although season 2 did not hit me as hard as the first season did, it's still a show that you'd confortably watch infront of your screen. loved the artstyle and the main characters developement, surely after he realised that he finally is doing something he enjoys and makes him feel alive. great watch, would totally recommend for drama, romance and sports enjoyers

As a guy who loves music and never been into dancing, or some kind of it..I have to say this anime was breathtaking and soul releasing. I have never thought I will watch dancing anime since I have never have interest in it. Welcome to ballroom focuses on feelings development and finding your own way of expressing yourself. Bond between the others is also the main theme of this anime. Characters are trying to understand and find a way to each other. I liked the way It was not only about the dance...It was more about the characters themselves...how they feel, what is their desire etc..etc..etc. If you like drama with a focus on characters and of course, DANCE! This is the right anime for you. Everytime I finished episode I wanted to see another ASAP. For this anime, it requires some kind of…

I watched Ballroom e Youkoso, also known as Welcome to the Ballroom. Here are my thoughts: First of all, let's get one thing out of the way: SENGOKU IS INSANELY WILDLY SMOKING HOT. ...*ahem* Okay so yeah by the way in other news this anime is an absolute masterpiece. And uummm *checks notes* HYOUDOU IS FINE AS HELL. I mean, uuhhmmm, actually this is one of the finest works of art ever made. Seriously though, Ballroom e Youkoso is spectacularly mindblowingly terrific. This anime is about a teenage boy's journey into the world of competitive formal dance. In some ways it feels like a sports shounen, but also has far vaster appeal than the typical audience for that. The dance scenes are phenomenally captivating. They are so dynamic and well choreographed, with excellent cinematography and s…

•The character development, the story narration, animation, fluidity, pace and beauty would make you feel all those things bro truly. I was searching for something like this for a while and then I found it and trust me it was amazing. •There is something about passion and the pursuit to find your true self, something you truly love and still don't know why the whole anime is based on. • Talking about the op's and Ed's the ones in the second half were my favourite and when you finish watching the majority of the episodes you will connect everything you saw in the intro and even in the ending which will also make the last episode even more interesting. There were some moments were I found myself smiling by just watching the beauty of the storyline and narration, they were that special. •I won…

I wasn't really expecting anything from this Anime but I do admit that I enjoyed this to the fullest. I never knew that ballroom dancing could be interesting and beautiful to watch as an Anime, I was so absorbed the whole time as if it was an art form, its such a delight and unexpected experience. The Characters were absolutely amazing, I love the aspect of being a partner or a couple because it shows the diversity of their personality and their relationship as partners. Just like any competitive sports they fight and argue but the most important thing is, even though there are miscommunication or misunderstandings towards each other they still don't want to be separated as partners. The Pacing is very consistent there is no moment where I wasn't out of my zone, I was always absorbed.…

"WELCOME TO THE BALLROOM" Genre- Sport, Comedy, Drama, Romance. A choreography that stirs things up in everyone's hearts. A sense of being drawn into the moment and evoking the feeling of warmth around you is what dance is. It connects you to your partner and while it may seem simple like a lead and follow, it is anything but far from that. It is a sense of joyous feeling that makes you cry, laugh and experience all the good and bad sensations at the same time. 'Welcome to the Ballroom' connects each viewer with the characters in the story and shows us their personalities, their thoughts, and their sense of vision through dance. While there are a lot of technicalities that are involved in the anime, it still helps us see the beautiful symphony of emotions that flow out of each character…

This was a really fun anime! I think they relied too heavily on flashbacks and felt a bit drawn out at the end, so I had to ding them a few points, but aside from that, I don’t have much bad to say about this show. I really enjoyed the art style and thought they did a good job on character personality. The voice acting is great and so is the music. You could feel the passion emanating from the characters and it really draws you in when they keep the show focused on the dancing. It was good enough to want to see another season and think those that enjoy dance, the performing arts, and sports should check out Ballroom e Youkoso.

Why do people dance? On occasions like marriages, school events, competitions, etc people dance. But why? In its purest form it is an expression-- of joy, sadness, and other feelings of the dancer. It is also a sport. Dancing is tiring. Another question, why don't some people dance? Is is because they are too tired? Probably not. Most common reason is that people don't want to make a fool of themselves while dancing, they don't want to be judged. Fear of public speaking/dancing is second only to fear of death. In the anime-- Welcome to the ballroom, we see Tatara Fujita, a middleschool kid who has no direction or ambition in his life. he is disappointed in himself. Tatara wants to change, he wants to be visible, he wants to be seen. One day he discovers a dance studio. Ballroom dance is a…

Story: 7 - Good Welcome To The Ballroom portayed the cut-throat nature of competitive dance accurately, while also making something I never cared about, actually interesting to watch. This anime also was surprisingly written like a battle shounen. Main character starts off really bad at something. Main character has a special ability no one else has (For Tatara, he was a natural at dancing, and was a very, very fast learner). The main character has training arcs, battle arcs, and tournament arcs, with character development mixed in between it all. Battle shounen writing is actually unexpectedly fitting for competitive ballroom dancing. The ending was very predictable, even since episode 1. But it was still an enjoyable ending, mostly due to the great writing of the main character and his…

You might think the story might not be as good as those other sport anime because this is ballroom dance but NOOOOOO it's as intense and as outstanding as those sport anime that get your heart pumping with excitement. This anime is leaning more into realistic style of sport anime (no magical or superhuman move, and it doesn't need one) despite leaning to the realistic style this anime still able to make ballroom dance cool and spectacular, so give it a try you might love it. Some fans even go and watch some ballroom dance competition because of this anime, myself included.

Ballroom e Youkoso, what a ride.. I discover this anime because of that clip from some anime fanpage in Instagram. I never read the manga, so I don't know what's gonna happen or what's up with this anime. Story, I like it. Not only the fun of the dance but they manage to show the other side of dancing. For a rookie or a person who know dance is just a dance. This anime tell a great story about it. One thing that I kinda disappointed with this anime is they have 24 eps but they can't manage to tell the technicality about dance competition and a bit too much drama. Art, a bit unique. For some reason, the art similar like Haikyuu.. A bit clunky, even for 2017 anime. it's like riding an old bike. Sometimes it moves so smoothly and sometimes it moves like old bike with triangle tire. So…

After seeing 'Welcome to the Ballroom' plastered on so many anime recommendations or underrated anime recommendations, I've finally gotten around to watching it and it, thankfully, did not disappoint. Despite not holding much interest in ballroom dance, I enjoyed every single episode. I've been in an anime funk since switching over to manhwa's and manga and this is the first anime I've been able to sit down to binge in a while. Each episode left me wanting more and none of them felt like a filler. And just like all sports anime, you have the typical 'I started late but am freakishly good at this/catch on quick' MC who really gives me Hinata vibes. But he's interestingly flawed. I started to appreciate how flawed he was compared to most MC's who have a similar vibe. The MC's characters…

Reviews if you don't have time. *SPOILER-FREE* One of the things that I find exciting about anime content is that it can make, in a span of 12 or 24 episodes, a person really invested in a topic or activity that otherwise would have never interested them. And with that I present “Ballroom e Youkoso” or “Welcome to the Ballroom”, a manga adaptation with Production I.G. studio at the wheel of animation, that made me enjoy ballroom dancing and competition. Ok so what does a dance related show need to have? Not good animation, amazing animation, and as expected Production I.G. knocked it out of the park. The fluidity of the movements, the extremely complicated and complex choreographies and dances, the backgrounds, the dresses, makeup, the drips of sweat in the characters foreheads… Everythi…
