Alright, so First Things First:
This review is COMPLETELY spoiler-free. I went into it knowing absolutely nothing other than it being a mystery/detective show, and the payoff was incredible. However, around 3 episodes in, I unfortunately read a review that spoiled a major character of the show that was yet to be introduced. GO INTO THIS SHOW BLIND! It is fantastic, and my only major gripe would be that I wish I didn't spoil this cool character reveal for myself. WIth that being said, let's get started.
Yuukoku no Moriarty is a hidden gem. I never expected to like it as much as I did, and the way the story, art, and music mesh together creates a phenomenal work of fiction that has something for everyone. I'm not the fondest of these detective-type of shows. Death Note was meh. Still have…

The protagonist is an orphan who, together with his brother, is adopted by a very wealthy aristocratic family. He is very educated and intelligent beyond his years. Having received the noble name of Moriarty, many new doors open for him. Harboring a grudge against rich noble people, he starts hunting them, killing them one by one. His plan to 'cleanse' the world goes like clockwork, until he meets a worthy opponent, another genius named Sherlock Holmes. A very loose adaptation of the books, which borrowed only the general features. It's a pretty light and interesting anime. Not overloaded with a detective component, the puzzles are quite simple. At the beginning, each episode is a small complete story, and at the end, the series focuses on the battle between Holmes and Moriarty. An interes…

Moriarty the Patriot is exactly the kind of anime I personally love. The story progresses through multiple smaller cases that gradually build toward a larger overarching narrative.
Through various investigations, we slowly discover the characters, their past, and their motivations while advancing the main storyline. This episodic yet connected storytelling style is something I really enjoy — similar to The Apothecary Diaries — where each story meaningfully contributes to the overall plot. As a result, the anime never feels boring, and there is always something engaging to follow, even when the outcome of certain cases can be anticipated.
There are many strengths: the story is compelling, the investigations are engaging, the animation and artwork are solid, and the overall experience rema…

I have a personal bias and it is my favorite series in general but I will unbiased. I love the plot but I still believe there was many that could've been done better. They definitely also missed out on a lot of things from the manga which is really unfortunate since the anime made it seem a bit shallow. It gives off the impression 'noble bad, poor good', which kind of disregards the whole idea. I wish they leaned more on the idea of a 'necessary evil' for the common good, rather than villainizing a whole group of people regardless if majority is simply like that and if its for the plot, its shallow.
Regardless, I still absolutely adore this series and will forever mention it.

Story
Even though most of us have already heard, read, or seen the stories of Sherlock Holmes and Moriarty, this anime adds a fresh twist to the rivalry. While it isn't necessarily the best adaptation of these two characters I have ever seen, it was interesting enough to keep me engaged through the whole season. The first part is dedicated specifically to Moriarty’s perspective, which is a side of the story we don’t often get to see. The pacing is very slow, and there is no instant action or fan service, so you shouldn't go into this expecting a typical anime experience. Some might ask why my score is only a 6/10 if I enjoyed it. Personally, I would have preferred one large, complete season instead of this first part, which is obviously just a long build-up to the actual Sherlock-Moriarty…

When looking for something to fill the gap left behind after Death Note, Code Geass, and Monster, this is the piece that doesn't stick out. But it should. Going into this anime, it kinda starts out like: What is this? What's going on? I've never heard of this before, why am I even watching?
There's just something about Noblesse Oblige combined with insanely intelligent main character that gets the gears turning. The dynamic between our main character and Holmes is essentially a mix of Light x L with Lelouch x Suzaku. That sense of chase and obscurity will always make even the most media illiterate watcher stay glued to the edge of their seat.
The only thing that I felt stalled this series from propelling into something far greater would be the lack of female character interaction. There'…

I don't usually write reviews, but I tend to do so when an anime really grabs me. I truly believe this is a highly underrated anime. It's a masterpiece, and it saddens me that it hasn't received the recognition it deserves. Inspired by Sherlock Holmes, I think it's one of the best psychological/historical anime out there.
The setting, storytelling, characters, the theme of the divide between the commoners and the aristocracy... everything is masterfully done. There are no plot holes or boring scenes, and the cases to be solved are interesting and intriguing, gradually giving a sense of satisfaction as they're resolved so brilliantly. The amount of research and care that went into this anime is incredibly evident.

Finally, an anime where there is no celestial things related or something impossible fantasy is shown. You can relate it to life, I think after MONSTER, it's my first anime that has nothing superpower type. Well, It's actually a lore of Original Sherlock Holmes character with a person named James William Moriarty (Who is inspired by the guy William James Sidis, IQ of 300, Mathematician). We see Cold-War like, Death Note; making people question what is right and what is wrong. A mixture of Bungou Stray Dogs too.
So yeah for me, the story is built up by mixing two anime.
And the season's last episode's last scene is----maybe Black Butler inspired too? Who knows? I won't spoil it. But if you have enjoyed mind-thrilling psycho thriller animes, it's definitely for you. But without any touch…

If there's one thing I dislike the most in fiction it is when something pretends to be much deeper than it actually is.
Moriarty the Patriot is about vigilante justice cleansing the streets of Britain (hence the patriotism) of those filthy nobles who abuse the lower class. The problem is that its criticism of the classism in the Victorian era is extremely shallow. It's very skin deep the way it just says nobles are bad and the poor are good without any sense of nuance or examining how this system came to be, how it stays in place, or how precisely it works---and certainly not the way to go about effectively dismantling it.
Any criticism of the class system boils down to "it's bad because they exploit people" and the conclusion drawn is to kill people who do that.
Obviously murder is w…

Moriarty the Patriot is an anime that masterfully reinterprets the iconic figure of James Moriarty, famously known as Sherlock Holmes' archenemy. The series stands out for its ability to transform a character traditionally viewed as evil into a complex antihero with a clear mission: to overthrow a corrupt and unjust social system. Throughout the narrative, we are presented with the story from the perspective of this ultimate antihero, the one London doesn’t know it needs and, in many ways, doesn’t deserve.
At the heart of the story lies the theme of justice and revenge. James Moriarty, a brilliant mathematics professor, is not only a criminal mastermind but also a man with a clear vision: to destroy the British aristocracy, which has built its power and wealth on the oppression of the wea…

tl;dr: A very strong premise that shows a lot of promise towards the beginning but is overall terrible executed.
*Note: This is a review of Part 1, Part 2, and the OVAs.*
Moriarty the Patriot is an anime that focuses on James Moriarty, the best known adversary of the renowned detective Sherlock Holmes. To be more precise, there’s a group of three brothers all of whom are James Moriarty and all of whom are focused on to a degree, but the deuteragonist is undoubtedly William James Moriarty. From the start, from the title even, it is clear that Moriarty won’t be portrayed as a villain, but rather as somewhat of an anti-hero who does what he does out of patriotism. More specifically, he wishes to improve Britain through eliminating the class divide and his plans to do so involve becoming the…

The show is just some mid tier revenge porn for impotent poor people that needs to parasitically latch on to a famous body of work (Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's) to even manage to be remotely successful.
The setting is quite uninspired, the characters are one-dimensional, the premise is far-fetched and far from believable, and the plots are for the most part basic. The visuals are fine, albeit bland.
The intro and ending segments are a terrible mismatch, but at least they can be skipped.
All-in-all, if you're poor and feel powerless in life you'd probably enjoy it. If your standards are high, odds are that you won't.
And it probably would appeal a bit to people that enjoyed shows such as Dexter.

The stories of Sherlock Holmes' and John Watson's adventures have been adapted to all types of media all over the world. In Moriarty the Patriot, Sherlock's legendary foe takes the protagonist spotlight with a revolutionary agenda behind his crimes.
Unlike most adaptations of the works of Sir Conan Doyle, this series takes the unorthodox approach of making Sherlock a side character appearing late in the story. The protagonist Moriarty, known in this adaptation as William James Moriarty, was an orphan whom alongside his younger brother Louis managed to get adopted into the affluent Moriarty family by winning the graces of the young heir Albert. William, a math genius like his book counterpart, has extreme disdain for the class system of their society. Destroying the system for a fresh sta…

The idea of making Moriarty the protagonist of this anime was very good, but the beginning did not please me, it is convoluted and has many unnecessary plots to introduce the secondary characters and deal with Moriarty's objective, which could be presented in maybe two episodes, it took four.
As soon as Sherlock Holmes appears and a tie begins between him and Moriarty, the anime starts to get really good and takes that feeling to its last episodes, the interaction of the two characters together is very good and the game of intelligence and strategies that define most of Sherlock's works are also very nice to look at.
Conclusion, I recommend the anime to anyone who wants to see something different from Sherlock Holmes, this work certainly brings another vision that can please a lot of peo…

after the horrors i had to witness in the bbc sherlock show, it scarred me for life and i don’t think i will ever be while again,,,
that’s why i think this show is brilliant and amazing! it’s a really good take on the sherlock character.
i like how the story is from the perspective of moriarty and not sherlock, it’s a really good concept in my opinion.
also it’s very gay :-)
this has got to be my favorite interpretation of the sherlock character and story right next to the great ace attorney one!
i highly recommend you watch this anime :-)

=====Introduction=====
'It's elementary, my dear Watson.' Someone took this statement to heart when they made this series because it's filled with flat, straight one-episode tales that are a snooze-fest at the start. This series is decent, but to call it a 'series' would be quite an injustice. The first half was boring and atrocious, while the second half picked up steam and became much better. Sherlock Holmes saved the day for this anime since I was contemplating a score of four or three. The stinking shame is that the plot setting is elaborate & the premise felt solid, but yet again another anime fails at execution, at least until midway.
=====Story===== 6.5/10
Personally, the story is the most important aspect of any anime. The narrative for the first half of the series is like follow…

Never has an anime hooked me so much.
The story is based on the reality of Sherlock Holmes, but we have his enemy James Moriarty as the protagonist. Obviously, we are not going to see how he solves mysteries or cases in a conscientious way and with happy endings. From James' perspective, everything is going to be darker.
It also puts us a bit in context with the history of this beloved character, thus explaining his way of acting in the future. without a doubt, it is an anime that you cannot miss.
Animation: 9/10 the main characters are very attractive.
Plot: i love mistery animes (movies, etc), so i love the anime and the story
End: I hope they make more seasons (there is only 2).

This anime is really a masterpiece. The characters (I love Albert), the OST (very suitable) and the plot>>>>.
I see similarities with Death note but, in this case, William isn't a crazy anti-hero like Light. Even though he was very smart, he wanted to become the God of the world, and I don't think that's the point of William. He only wants upper-class and lower class have the same right, without discrimination.
In the other hand, Sherlock is a great rival for Liam. I really like the fact that both have observation's skill. It's like they're chasing each other and they never don't get bored.
I'm not a really good reviewer but only wanna say "Catch me if you can...Mr Holmes"

Simply amazing.
I don't even know where to begin. This was the first show I've ever watched after reading the Mange beforehand and it didn't disappoint.
I unfortunately have no Idea how much of the writing in this show was original and how much adapted from the various other depicitons of moriarty and all of the other Characters depicted in this Anime.
From what I just saw though it is just a brilliant show in one of the best settings imaginable with an opening more perfectly fit for this show than I could have imagine and with Animation and styling only someone equally as genious as the main Character could've come up with.
So no matter if it's your first Anime or your 300th, if you enjoy the Mystery genre or not this is a must-watch for pretty much anyone out there as I can literally…

The first half of the anime really had me, Moriarty was the type of antihero I love to see, and the orchestrating of the crimes was nice and thrilling. However once they introduced Sherlock, they seemed to really want to focus on his perspective instead and I swiftly started losing interest. I've seen one too many Sherlock adaptations, and the man just bores me at this point lol. I'm hoping part 2 takes it in a more adventurous direction and breaks the mold of the usual Sherlock medias, but I'm not holding my breath.
Also the sound direction, OP and ED were extremely forgettable.
