86 Eighty-Six Part 2

86 Eighty-Six Part 2

Introduction

The disappearance of the Spearhead Squadron beyond the horizon does little to hide the intensity of the Republic of San Magnolia's endless propaganda. Vladilena Milizé continues to operate as "Handler One," the commander of yet another dehumanized 86th faction's squadron in the continuous war against the Legion. On the Western Front, Shinei Nouzen and his squad are quarantined in a military base controlled by the Federal Republic of Giad, formerly known as the Giadian Empire. The newly-established government grants the saved Eighty-Six full citizenship and freedom. Housed by the president Ernst Zimmerman himself, the group meets his adoptive daughter and the last Empress, Augusta Frederica Adel-Adler. However, within the calm of this tender society, Shinei and his team feel that their purpose is on the battlefield. Before long, they are once again in the midst of the Legion's onslaught as a part of the Federacy's Nordlicht Squadron, accompanied by Augusta Frederica. But, as history repeats itself, they realize that no matter the side, death and pain on the front lines are the only comfort they know. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

The second season of 86 Eighty-Six is one of remembrance. The ones who have survived must continue living life. While the literal war persists, the internal battle presses onward. Some struggle to find meaning, many endure to protect, and others lay shadows to rest. Those who once existed linger as memories that both shackle and liberate. They are gone, but some remain. It is painful. But their existence inspires one to be what those who have passed thought they could become. And with the support of those surrounding them, healing this conflict within means that another war has reached its end. “We will not forget.”

86 Part 2 is an incredible continuation that takes everything that made the first part special and elevates it to another level. The character development is outstanding, the atmosphere is immersive, and the emotional moments hit incredibly hard. The direction, soundtrack, and visual storytelling work together perfectly, creating some of the most memorable scenes in the entire series. What makes this part so special is how much it says without always needing dialogue. Every small moment feels meaningful, and the payoff is genuinely worth the wait. The final episodes are absolutely phenomenal and leave a lasting impression long after the credits roll. A beautiful, heartbreaking, and unforgettable experience. 10/10.

86 isn’t a fancy anime; it focuses on social tension between characters, and takes you along for the rough ride. I just finished both Part 1 and Part 2 and had a few thoughts. I liked the way Shin (the male lead) was written, with the way he had to carry the burden of all his dead comrades while always managing not to die in battle, and the tragedy of fixing what others had left behind. Lena, unfortunately, was a bit boring as the female lead. She is a noble person and does have struggles with people working against her, with an awakening about how she treats the Eighty-Six, but an interesting personality just isn’t there. She also cries a lot in Shin's face, so that was annoying. If I had to name the biggest flaw of the anime, it would be the way the show shoves them both into something…

86 showed a lot of promise to be an emotionally loaded show, with sharp critique of extremism and ideological tears. It did not in any way live up to that promise. It ended up being a very shallow show, leaving little time for emotional weight to settle in. Slight spoiler ahead here, though you'd hardly be surprised regardless. the "death" of characters are so obviously not happening - they didn't even attempt to make it look like the classic "oh no they died!! but actually... they didn't!". There was never any emotional weight to the potential death of a comrade - because not a single character developed since part 1 of the show. There can be very obvious critique of Milizé being a Mary Sue in part 1, but at the very least, her character showed enough emotion to have growth in this seco…

I really liked Part 1 of 86. However, in retrospect, after watching this part, I realized that the main reason I liked it so much was Lena’s character development and her growing bond with the soldiers who were essentially left to die. It was compelling to watch her try to connect with them despite being part of the incredibly racist group that oppressed them, even if she was one of the few people willing to listen with an open mind. However, for understandable story reasons, Lena cannot take part in most of the main plot of Part 2 because she is busy elsewhere. This leaves the surviving members of the Eighty-Six group from Part 1 as the main characters. While they are fine, I found that, without Lena, they just were not as interesting as I thought they were. What does not help is that,…

Before I begin I must admit I have seen both parts a while back and recently I rewatched the show, therefore the validity of this review is entirely up to interpretation. Subject; 86 - Part 2 Review - Art/Animation: The animation is just as if not more spectacular than part one, meaning praises to the animators for their fine work. The art style is great for the kind of story being portrayed, also the realism at some scenes is incredible. The use of angles and space is very good as if a cinematographer was on set. Color is neither dull or excessive and mostly sits in the goldilocks zone, however when the color shows itself it isn't eye candy or taking away the main focus. Motion is the illusion of life and the animation is extraordinary in presenting life where at times you believe thes…

An absolute whirlwind of a season and a gargantuan piece of media in this medium - the relationship between all characters increase tenfold this season and take what what was good about them from the first part but take it up a notch - on top of that the music is absolutely jaw dropping and some of the best and most ear pleasing soundtracks I have ever listened to - the final 2 episodes might be some of the best pieces of media I have ever watched - the overwhelming happiness that was felt when Lena and shin finally reunite and actually get to see one another as well as the rest of the crew was a truly incredible experience and one that I feel won’t be touched for a long time

A series that fell victim to the author's strategy. An author who only addressed the rise of Lena and Cyclops in the 10th volume (and only in response to fan reactions) after the anime had already covered the story up to the beginning of the 4th volume. In my opinion, the anime has too many gaps. Had a different strategy been employed, it could have been a masterpiece for people like me; as it stands, however, it’s a total dud to me and those who share my view. Don't talk to me about a knock-off Levi, author; tell me about Lena (a nerfed version of Esdeath)

When the weapons of war blast louder than cries, what truly keeps us going is the human desire to see each other again. This second part of 86 was the culmination of love prevailing over social injustice, settling personal conflicts, and the power of friendship. 86 Part 2 literally teaches us why humans should value each other and stand working together for what is right. This next arc of 86's story literally launches you into the "unknown" of going beyond the borders of 86 Part 1. Nevertheless, Shin and the gang proves what keeps them stronger are coming to terms with their individual battles. While some moments in Part 2 could be summarized as a very long history/political science textbook with rhetorical questions on society from Attack on Titan packed into it, this show invites viewer…

this is a great follow-up to part 1. it shines in slightly different ways comparing to the previous entry but also has different problems too. i'll start with the negatives. first 2 episodes are fillers. no story no character development. the only purpose they serve is explaining what the new location the 86 squad has reached is like. it shouldn't take 2 episodes. second gripe i have is the fact that female mc is missing and has so little screen time for the majority of part 2. in part 1, this anime expertly uses dual perspective of male mc POV and female mc POV to tell the story. and this doesn't happen in part 2 which is slightly disappointing. that being said, the director's decision of lobsided storytelling from male mc and his team's perspective does pay off. the emotional journey m…

This show reminds me of Darling in the Franxx in the negative aspects. It's not bad and I didn't have like a bad time watching it, but its childish/teen. It has deep themes but its more like something you might have enjoyed when you were 15. Good news is you probably gonna like it if you are a teenager. It has too much exposition, cringe writing a lot of times, and the scenes go cringe in battlefield very often too. With all respect, for the sole exception of the last episode, all others were actually a little hard to bear and keep watching, because it's really boring 90% of the time.

((Review: English - Español)) ** English= Without a doubt, this anime is a perfect 10/10. It’s very similar to Attack on Titan in the sense that it’s a military action series packed with heavy drama and heartbreaking deaths of fellow soldiers. On top of that, it does a great job exploring the characters' personal struggles and backstories as they relate to the plot. This isn't just another military action show; it’s a beautifully told story with excellent character development and a fantastic final (though there’s potential for more seasons in the future). This is honestly one of the best animes I’ve ever seen. I highly recommend watching it if you're a fan of shows with a vibe similar to Attack on Titan. ** Español= Sin ninguna duda, este anime tiene nota de 10. Esta serie es muy par…

what beauty this anime is just great to watch something this full of life on a dead world ..just a really simple and evangelic anime for me ... . it felt bit like akame ga kill till the end of s1 but s2 was just full of surprises ...i was sad for handler 1 in the first season but was than overjoyed to see her again just a beautiful feeling to see her again in action .. . i've enjoyed this anime more for its character and villains as the world has nothing more than grim and darkness.... seeing 86 fight there way forward create new memories with new friends and a new set of journey is just how i envision them in future as they are created for the war by the war.. . another spec that i really loved were the bad guys the Titanium tanks with there grim reality i just want to know more about it…

*No spoilers!* This review is for cour (part) 2 of the EIGHTY-SIX anime, which was adapted from Asato Asato’s light novel series of the same name. Please do not read this review if you haven’t seen Part 1. I will do my best to avoid spoilers altogether. Summary: EIGHTY-SIX is a masterclass in visual storytelling. It beautifully tackles themes of freedom, nationality, racism and discrimination, and identity through the juxtaposition of very different experiences: the victims and perpetrators of these themes. If you are interested in a story that tackles challenging themes and incorporates action, adventure, excellent characters, and phenomenal symbolism and imagery, then this is an excellent choice. As a therapist, I believe this show genuinely depicts humanity’s ability to change, learn,…

I am speechless, how can an anime which is this good didn't get season 2. 86 not only shows right or wrong, herro or villain, it is way deeper than that and I am literally speechless after I completed the anime. It's so good literally no boring episodes. Every character has their own depth and relation between shin and his comrades is shown so damn well. Actually I am unable to express how much I liked this anime it is so damn good got me emotional like man it's so good. if I don't get to hear about a new season in under 6 months although I never read a novel I will read 86 novel definitely. It is so good to be left without completing the whole story.

86 on the surface level just fulfils basic requirements of Mecha anime grounded in real/alternate history. But whearas Code Geass is cool, 86 tells an actual story about actual people. It's especially visible in second season as the story displays an immense emotional intelligence. It's not in the interaction between characters, it's not in the story behind the war, it's not about individual sacrifice, or hopes and dreams, or abandoned children, or war memorials, none of that. All those moments are meaningless unless there's one core element that's almost never present in media. What was that one thing that recontextualized the whole story? Without spoilers, one of the last scenes. It showed main characters were just a bunch of kids fighting, just a bunch of normal kids, kids with some sk…

a bit late to the party but damn i dont even watch anime that much anymore. yet, this pulled my heartstring like allat. the war in 86 is deliberately stripped of moral comfort. There is no clean axis of good vs evil. Instead, everyone is rendered in black and white not as morality, but as dehumanization. what makes it devastating is that no side gets narrative absolution. as a geography major, I found it especially striking how accurately the series reflects real-world war ethics: bureaucratic violence, constrained choices, and the way responsibility is diffused until suffering feels procedural rather than personal. i love how this anime also treats its audience with respect. A key strength of Eighty-Six lies in its restraint. The show trusts its audience enough to engage with its theme…

I usually don't get emotional over anime but this actually touched me! Violet Evergarden, Graves of the Fireflies, even Your Lies In April did not touch my heart or make me cry. They are all great anime but for some reason didn't make me sniffle. But for some reason this season of the anime made me cry like I was a little kid and I'm not ashamed to admit it! The story is so emotional and well built up. Everything makes sense and feels right. Like the first season, the plot was interesting and well paced. I have become attached to the characters to the point that I genuinely wished nothing bad happen to anyone in the show. And then the emotional scenes hit and they hit you hard like a meteor! Even though you can sometimes predict what's going to happen, the show manages to make you feel em…

Bro I remember I just seen this anime and clicked on it just because and I am so glad I did! This is one of my favorite animes to date everything about it was just so perfect. It really shows how horrible discrimination is and the evils found in humanity. I've never been SO EMOTIONAL over a show before this and that is probably why I have such strong feelings towards it. Seeing innocent people being sent off into war and dying AND seeing their dreams and backstories was very heavy. It felt like everytime I found a character I liked they died 😭
