I only started watching it because of the JoJo references... and I don't regret it. Haha.
To be completely honest, what made me give Aharen-san wa Hakarenai a chance was the countless clips showing references to JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. I thought it would just be an anime that made the occasional joke, but I ended up finding a really charming romantic comedy that was far more entertaining than I expected.
The premise is extremely simple: we follow the relationship between Aharen and Raidou, two classmates who struggle to read social cues and end up navigating all sorts of everyday situations. It sounds like a standard synopsis, but the execution makes all the difference. The show's humor relies on completely absurd exaggerations, misunderstandings, and Raidou’s boundless imagination, he…

Okay, here we go for the fifty-eighth time:
Characters:
-Main characters: A very peculiar couple, but also very entertaining to watch. They are the best thing about this anime, and that's not up for debate. (5/7)
-Supporting characters: Ooshiro definitely stands out the most because of what they showed about his past near the end of the anime. The rest of the cast is just there for jokes in different places, like the sister in the house, the kids in the park, and so on. (1/3)
Logic: (With tolerance since it's a comedy)
As the anime progresses, you understand why certain characters are the way they are, but nothing will make me forget that one forced incest joke. (9/10)
Entertainment (Personal):
Most episodes are good when new things happen and there are developments. The only bad episo…

"Aharen-san Is Indecipherable" is the anti-soap opera where everyone is smile-baiting and friend-maxing. It has to be the most innocent, purest, coziest, and wholesome romance anime to exist. It really brings you into the most perfectly possible world where everyone genuinely cares about one another and everyone is patient/honest enough to clear away any misunderstandings that may occur.
Simply put, Raidou and Reina's character dynamic is peak. The way their friendship grows throughout the series is just perfect. Raidou uses his strengths to help make up for Reina's inherit weaknesses in life and Reina uses her strengths to help make up for Raidou's inherit weaknesses in life. While other romance animes would have a minimum of 1 perverted scene per season, this show basically just said "…

I wanna get this out of the way first - the confession chapter from the manga is the single reason that could justify reading or watching the entire series.
The story is predictable to a fault. Plots are structured to fit within a single episode, and each episode follows the same exact format. A framework like this can work, but in this case - the story is bland as fuck. In both the narrative plot, and its delivery. Forget about character development or any of that sort - every day, the same dry toast. It's like listening to a constant frequency hum for 13 episodes, and only realizing its ended cause the noise is gone. It has its moments, but I honestly can't bring myself to remember any, which by itself says quite a lot.
tl;dr - you're gonna have hard time justifying watching this loli ba…

Is this anime worth watching?
If you like getting straight to the point: yes, it’s worth it.
It’s fun, silly, and has a quirky, nonsensical sense of humor.
Now, if you're looking for something deeper—plot twists, heavy themes, and meaningful deaths—this isn’t the anime for you. This one’s for when you just want to feel good and smile.
Let’s break it down:
Animation: 6.5 – Pretty standard for this type of anime.
Story: Almost non-existent, your typical slice-of-life school setup.
Characters: 8 – They really work well together.
Soundtrack: 7 – Does its job well enough.
Comedy: 8 – It worked for me. Will it work for you? Only one way to find out.
Romance: 6.5 – It’s there and it develops…

Don't let the tags fool you, Aharen-san is a comedy first, romance second, anime that answers the age old question of "What if I used a Tank instead of a flyswatter", to fix simple solutions of human understanding and connections, allowing the comedy to flow naturally with its ridiculousness without losing the plot, while having a simple heart warming romance story without unnecessary forced drama many romcoms put into their work. A simple, yet funny, slice of life piece you can sit down and enjoy with almost anyone, and not needing to explain why it's funny in the context of anime tropes.
I watched this when it originally released and enjoyed it immensely at the time, and felt content with its ending unlike many other romcom anime seem to do when they catch up with the manga or light no…

There’s something disarming about a show that arrives with no fanfare, no grand ambitions, and somehow still manages to be thoroughly enjoyable. Aharen Is Indecipherable is, at first glance, yet another romantic comedy centered around an eccentric girl and the quiet boy who learns to understand her. You’ve seen this structure before in fact, you’ve probably seen it a dozen times in the last year alone. But what sets Aharen apart is its unexpectedly sincere delivery and a refreshing sense of restraint in a genre that too often mistakes drama for depth.
The show’s premise is almost aggressively plain: Reina Aharen, a soft-spoken girl with a tenuous grasp on personal space, slowly forms a bond with her classmate Raidou, a boy so stoic he makes cardboard look expressive. What unfolds is a ser…

I watched this on a whim the other night and I must say I was pleasantly surprised by how sweet and funny this anime was. It took te quietness of Komi Cant Communicate and mixed it with the cuteness of Tonikawa and I LOVED IT!!! It started out as two people just wanting to make friends having reasons for failing to do so in the past and did a one 180 to best friends who do everything together. What is even funnier is our MC typically over exaggerates every scenario with Aharen making it 10x more hilarious. On top of that this has got to be one of the more pure and wholesome anime I have watched where actual progress happens throughout the show so I was very pleased with that as well. If you are looking for something cute that will make you laugh then check out Aharen Is Indecipherable and…

Truth be told, I never knew that there is gonna be a season two of this anime. Or that it was already out and I told myself, "Oh, wait, I remember watching this years back." Released during the time of the COVID pandemic, this was a comfortable anime, to say the least. I've watched it back in 2022 and thought that this was a nice, pleasant anime. Two characters who are labeled in the kuudere department get to know each other while they hang out until they fall in love eventually is interesting since kuudere's are mostly among the sidelines, if I recall. You are free to correct me on that one. We have two of them. Reina Aharen and Shota Raido attending the same high school at the start of their first year, noticing each other and starting to hang out more, as the anime starts and goes. I th…

Aharen-san wa Hakarenai is a pretty funny but repetitive anime. Side characters like those two teachers and those two young kids are quite boring. Still somewhat good, but could be better. Maybe the writer started it and couldn't decide what to do next. Wanted to see Aharen-san rap some more, that part was pretty funny.
- The story isn't unique. It's predictable, too.
- The animation is good.
- If you like silly rom-com, you'll like this (if you can ignore the repetitiveness )
Good Parts:
1. Aharen-san is too cute.
2. Art style is nice too.
3. Aharen and Raido's chemistry is good. Not so Good Parts:
1. The Story
- Repetitiveness
- Unrealistic elements
2. Poor Side Characters

Aharen-San focusses on the relationship & mental hijinks of Aharen & Raido through bits created by their creative minds and caring personalities. Side characters beyond Aharen's family are one note (usually gags) but they aren't what you're here to enjoy or focus on & for the most part have limited screen time, that being said there are two side characters that rarely appear who may as well be robots and only exist to push things forward.
I found the first episode was too heavy on the overthinking gag & left me with a poor first impression (which it may do for you) but given that it's an introduction to the characters, the relationship between the two & what you should expect from the show, it does its job. The anime finds a great balance between gags & character interactions during the s…

If you want to get out of the usual romcom tropes for a bit, you'll want to give Aharen-san a watch. Keep in mind though, romance takes a while to make an appearance, so this may be better classified as... a friendcom?
Aharen-san is a very sweet character, at first we're led to believe she's similar to Komi-san, but that's a stretch. Aharen-san CAN communicate, but her voice is usually so low she can't be heard by other people. Honestly, that's endearing and if you think that's way too specific, it's an issue that's way more common in real life for many girls than what you may think.
Raido, our chad for this romance story, does not have much of a personality and we're not shown much of his backstory. We come to know him strictly through his interactions with other people. I liked him but…

The rapping episode instantly bumped this show up in my books. Definitely enjoyed that. This is a pretty standard romcom with all the usual tropes but it's exactly what I needed after a long break from anime.
There wasn't really much conflict in the storyline apart from the last few episodes. Very casual, everything happy kinda show.
The MC was decent. None of the characters seemed over the top with their reactions which I liked, made the experience more enjoyable and easy to watch. That may be an issue for people who aren't into rom com slice of life shows. But the counter to that is if you aren't into rom com slice of life shows WHY TF ARE YOU HERE!.
One Criticism I do have is that the school and classroom kinda lack atmosphere. It seems like the main 4 and the teachers are the only…

Aharen-san wa Hakarenai is a 7/10 for me. It's a decent watch, pretty much what I expected going in.
The whole premise revolves around Aharen's, let's say, unique communication style. She's quiet, uses a lot of gestures, and can be really intense about small things. Raido, her classmate, is just trying to figure her out, and that's where most of the comedy comes from.
The humor is okay. Some of the jokes land, some don't. It's a lot of misunderstandings and visual gags, which can get a bit repetitive after a while. It's definitely a lighthearted show, and it has its sweet moments, but it's not laugh-out-loud funny all the time.
The animation is fine. Nothing special, but it's not bad either. It does what it needs to do. The characters are okay, though I didn't find them particularly deep o…

Aharen-san wa Hakarenai is a very good cute Romance anime that actually has romance?
This anime is really wholesome and the whole pun about it is really enjoyable. This anime is a very good romance anime, The character dynamics are really well produced and leaves you with a wholesome dynamic. You can see the relationship grow throughout the show and its really cool too see. At times this anime can have you at the edge of your seat because its surprisingly suspenseful at times and for being a romantic comedy amusing at times.
The art design is also really nice if that is something that you care about and the music is decent enough nothing super memorable though. The stuff like backdrops and character desgins can be really nice at times and nice on the eyes so you wont be hurting your eye…

NO SPOILERS DUHHH:
It's a god anime, I do recommend it, it works really well. But that is only for good 4 episodes as after those 4 episodes I found the rest sort of Meh. At the start i find it quite interesting and funny of how things are playing up.
Character development is not too bad, they work really well but I wish there was more to it then just this as it did feel like a copy and paste in certain seasons.
This is why I picked mixed as this is a nice anime that i would recommend for start but the further you go with it is not that funny anymore as it was and it doesn't follows up with that much joy the further you go and the energy is just disappearing.
I don't think there is more I can say if you are like me and can't wait for season 2 and into this anime i recommend those anim…

Oh my gosh, where do I even start with this anime?! This show is hands down one of the most beautiful romantic comedies I've ever seen - it's like a warm hug for your soul.
From the moment I met Aharen, I was hooked. She's literally the cutest girl I've ever seen in my life - her adorable expressions, her quirky personality... I just can't get enough! And Raido, the main guy, is perfect for her - their dynamic is so sweet and natural.
But what really makes this show shine is its ability to balance humor and heart. I laughed out loud so many times, but I also found myself feeling all the feels. The supporting cast is amazing too - they add so much depth and warmth to the story.
I love how the show explores themes of friendship, love, and self-discovery. It's like they took all the best p…

Aharen-san wa Hakarenai it's a decent anime.
The animation it's good, the characters are developed through the show. But for me, the anime fall into the sameness.
It's the same pattern, it's like a copy and paste with a little development of the characters.
I found it enjoyable, but it was very hard to keep the same energy through the entire anime.
So in my opinion, the anime start strong and from that, went down little by little.
If you just want to laugh a little maybe Aharen-san wa Hakarenai it's good for you. But if you want a comedy anime that keep improving while developíng it's story and characters, then, I woudn't recommend this for you.

As you might see from my previous reviews, I have very little tolerance for anime that phones it in. Whether it be an anime that takes itself seriously and falls flat, or that doesn't take it seriously but can't deliver, I'm usually pretty hard on anime when they don't measure up.
This is one I actually really liked and don't have too many negative things to say (but there are a few).
This is a comedy. There are ordinary situations taken to absurd lengths for comedic effects, and then those absurd lengths become part of "canon" and are lampshaded by other characters. This is something that's very difficult to pull off and can be very annoying when done wrong, but in this anime, it's not done wrong. The absurd situations are just absurd enough to be funny and somewhat unrealistic, but not…

Raido wants to be more social during his freshman year of high school. It was hard for him to make friends in middle school because he looked unfriendly.
He decides to talk to the loli girl Aharen who sits next to him in class. But she's seemingly ignoring him. Turns out she's a very low talker. She developed this habit because she was seen as too clinging by her previous friends.
Raido tries all he can to find an effective way for the two to communicate. But unintentionally develops super hearing as a result of trying to hear Aharen's soft voice.
This isnt really a romance. Its mostly guy-girl friendship. Its more about Aharen being cute and tiny.
There is this subplot about how Raido wants to beat Aharen at different things since he always seems to lose against her.
There are a bunc…
