To this day, I genuinely have no idea how I managed to finish Komi Can't Communicate. Boring. Boring. BORING.
I went into it expecting something cute and wholesome, maybe a funny slice of life about a girl struggling to communicate and slowly finding her place among other people. And while the premise itself isn't bad, actually watching it felt like a punishment.
The pacing felt painfully slow, the comedy rarely worked for me, and I simply could not bring myself to care about most of what was happening. At some point, I wasn't even watching because I was enjoying it—I was watching because I had already gone too far and apparently decided suffering was the only option.
I know this anime has a lot of fans, and good for them. Truly. But for me, this was one of those experiences where I kept w…

The “cute girl with trouble communicating” archetype of story gained a lot of popularity in the 2010s especially with works like Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu and Senryuu Shoujo showcasing how naturally it integrates with the supremely popular Cute Girls Doing Cute Things genre of show. It makes a lot of sense, as it combines the appeal of self growth with stronger than usual displays of friendship and a fairly relatable premise as people grow increasingly socially unaware. The limitations of the characters is the crux of these kinds of works, transforming what would otherwise be fairly orthodox comedy into something much more enjoyable, and it’s also exactly why Komi-san manages to completely fail at finding its footing in this category of show.
You see, Komi is a perfect girl, going…

Before I launch into my criticisms of this popular series, let me start with a review of the strengths of Komi Can't Communicate:
First, the production value is amazing — even when a scene (or episode) is not particularly interesting, at least it always looks great! Meanwhile most of the jokes land well enough, and the constant switching between Komi's popular-girl-ice-queen stare to her shy, wide-eyed, and chibi alternate ego somehow never gets old. Most important of all, the romance between her and Tadano is absolutely adorable and taps directly into the sweet, uncomplicated energy of young love that somehow alludes so many other knock-off entries in the romance genre. And despite not being the most complex character, Komi's goal to make 100 friends provides a critical emotional anchor…

For me, Komi was one of those shows that I always knew about, always recognized it, and always had it kept somewhere in the back of my mind. I remember when the anime was announced, and though it was the first I'd heard of it, I appreciated seeing peoples excitement. I didn't watch it back then but it was so distinct, every time i went to the bookstore, I'd always notice the volumes of Komi Can't Communicate on the shelf. Finally some four-ish years later, I sit down and in a quest to find something good to watch I suddenly remembered the YEARS of casual reminders. Lately I've struggled with a bit of laziness when it comes to starting a new show, but believe me, the first seconds of Komi Can't Communicate are enchanting and I have no doubt you'll be hooked, just like I was.
We get to live…

Very good cartoon. The characters were well developed, grew up nicely, the interactions were well done, and the dialogues were good. Many said it's bad because it's slow regarding the romance, and that's true, as it's more about "will they get together? Find out in the next episode," but honestly, it's good. Less time on romance means more time developing the characters. The animation is excellent too, which is shocking, considering it's not one of those that needs particularly good animation.
One thing that differentiates anime like this from Western cartoons is how they deal with Komi's social anxiety. A Western cartoon would focus more on the fact that she has social anxiety, and her growth arc would be her overcoming that problem and becoming more extroverted, while here she becomes a…

It was cute, I'll give it that. I was actually really into Komi's progression throughout the season. I found myself really invested in her journey, and a lot of the episodes were really touching. I think it's not the best representation of social anxiety, or antisocial tendencies -- sometimes it feels downplayed or very dramatic.
But I sort of started getting bored after a while. Yes, Komi can't talk much, or at all, but the other characters are practically forced to make any progression throughout side-stories or just the main plotpoint -- helping her reach 100 friends.
After a while, it feels a little less about Komi, and more about her 100 friends.

The entire premise of the show drew me in from the start, being someone with really bad social anxiety and having to work through that and grew better at talking and doing daily stuff better, this show really took a ride with me, shed a few tears, related to her struggles, but when I look outside of the "girl just wanting to fit in and make friends" it gets a bit stale, she is literally the most popular kid at school by default and the "friends" she makes kinda feel meaningless when you factor in that everyone is obsessed with a capital O with her, they literally refer to her as goddess through the entire season 2 and treats her as such... it really to much for me.
Outside of Komi and Tadano, which relationship I find cute and consider him being the only true friend to her, everyone else…

✒Crazy Eyes and the Boy with the Flower in His Hair 🌼 When You're Beautiful You Don't Have to Say Much °VG° °7.5° 💯% 🔎 some minor spoilers
School. Public Speaking. Parties. Seating arrangements. Everyday stuff is agonizing for people with social anxiety. Komi lives in fear. The teacher might call on her. A stranger might try to strike up a convo. At school, she could be asked to participate. Simply buying a scarf is terrifying.
It's a little bit ironic that they're dealing with social anxiety and they're following somebody who is gorgeous. I guess their point is that anybody can have it. But they're also showing what a relatively easy time Komi has because of her looks - relatively. Are they doing that deliberately? I'd like to see a show about somebody ordinary. It may not necessar…

Komi Can’t Communicate is a romantic comedy anime with a variety of characters. At least, that’s what I thought going in. The variety of characters is true—but when it comes to romance, the show only delivers about 2 or 3 scenes near the end of the season. As for the comedy... it’s painfully boring.
Characters
While the characters are diverse, most of them feel like references to other anime. For example, the ninja boy is clearly a Naruto reference, and there’s also a typical chuunibyou girl. If you noticed, I don’t even remember their names—because they add nothing to the story. Most of the side characters are forgettable and lack any real contribution. All except for one: the main reason I almost quit watching the anime—Yamai.
Whenever Yamai shows up, you already know what she’s going…

Komi can't communicate is a very good comedy/slice of life/ romance anime.
Komi can't communicate is a very entertaining anime about Komi and Tadano with Komi having severe social anxiety which is the main plot point of the show (not a spoiler is written in the description for the show) It is a very entertaining show with many engaging plot points throughout the show and had really wholesome and enjoyable slice of life elements that made for a fun watch, and made me really enjoy the show. There is also a very diverse cast with clashing personalities which make many amusing comedic elements.
I personally really enjoyed this first season however i doubt its for everyone as it is a very unrealistic representation of social anxiety over dramatized and exaggerated at time for comedic effect s…

A wholesome anime that you'd be aiming for if you're overwhelmed with generic ones.
The anime revolves around a girl who, even though she's pretty, has a painful communication disorder that makes it difficult for her to make friends or live a normal life like normal people. The good news is that she meets a guy who is very humble and is patient with her. With this, they become friends and Komi's live changes forever.
I'll say nothing more in order to avoid spoilers.
From my point of view and having watched the first season, I can say that I enjoyed every episode and most of the characters.
There are some things a bit off-putting such as the over-worship of the main character just because of her beauty, but they're not a big deal for the story.

This is like a power fantasy but in a romance anime. Komi is beautiful, athletic, smart, perfect, etc. but she is shy and doesn't talk to others. Conveniently she has a crush on our very average main character. Isn't this a bit too self serving? They shoved the "perfection" trait on a girl and made her dependent on the MC and conveniently also in love with him. Why do people enjoy this? Do they try to insert themselves instead of the MC, fantasizing about having a perfect girl crush on them?
There isn't really a good story to be found here. Hell, there aren't good interactions to be found here because Komi being "shy" is her top-defining trait. I hate shy characters with a passion. They are always predictably boring. If you ask them if they wanna play videogames, they will act shy. If you…

A light-hearted and fun slice-to-life show wherein we can watch Komi, a seemingly reserved protagonist with a warm personality go through an interpersonal journey with the goal of creating 100 friends in high school. It's a very cute anime to watch especially if you're looking for something to lighten your mood.
Animation (7/10) - Its on-par with the standards of a modern anime show; Nothing too special but its well-done nonetheless for what it is. There are glimpses of extra effort when it comes to detailing some scenes it wants to highlight especially on closeup and intimate ones but most of the times it doesn't deviate onto anything special nor unacceptable, so... Nice.
Storyline (7/10) - Its storyline pacing is on-par with its manga original apparently, and its very obvious as the sh…

This review is for the anime adaptation of Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu, also known as Komi Can’t Communicate.
Summary
Komi Can’t Communicate is about a girl named Komi who struggles to communicate due to her social anxiety, and a boy named Tadano who befriends her and supports her on an expedition to make 100 friends. The story covers themes of friendship, communication, and disabilities, though it does so by antithetical means. Unfortunately, the storytelling makes the plot and characters unrelatable, and the side characters detract from the themes. To avoid spoilers, I will simply state here that Komi does not overcome her anxiety the healthy way. Instead, she has classmates that are ludicrous. The side characters don’t push her the right way; instead, they stalk her, cree…

Late to the party but here it goes.
Komi can't communicate is about a girl, Komi, who has social anxiety so bad it means she can't speak in front of other people. This has had a negaitve impact in her ability to participate in activities throughout school and make friends. Tadano, the other main character who is very average discovers she has this issue and tries to help her in a goal of making 100 friends. Thiugh this poses a challenge as he is not well liked.
We are then introduced to Najimi, one of Tadanos childhood friends and a pretty important character. Yoy see he has the gift of the gab and so is quite good at making friends. He learns of Komi's issue and decided to befriend her and also help her out. Though not very conventionally.
I think the three main characters are pretty f…

General consensus: You will either relate to the high school content and be transported to your youth and laugh along with the story or you will hyper focus on the series shortcomings and make fun of it's episodic mediocrity.
Komi has extreme social anxiety and wants to make 100 friends before she graduates high school. Tadano is the first friend that she makes and is the possible love interest for the series. The series starts off strong by introducing this premise and teasing the idea that as this series progresses we will get to see Komi build more friendships as she overcomes her social anxiety. I was hooked from when the opening first dropped and teased the series. I watched every episode 2 times, until episode 7 when I realized that it was just going to be an episodic comedy with ro…

To make it short. What influenced my rating and decision:
Komi is objectified, treated as a godess for no reason, her communication problems are frequently disregarded and she is forced into uncomfortable situations. She is also a top athlete, seemingly without training. She's praised for everything while in reality she would be rather marginalised. Maybe others would hear her out out of respect but here - the world stops, all eyes on Komi and everybody is flipping and it's a riot because she blinked. Her character is just unrealistic. Basically everyone's behavior in relation to her anxiety is ass-backwards (Tadano being exception) and should not help her.
Tadano is a nice guy. Like, too nice. He is like a servant, always there to help but without a personality. Nice but rather bland.…

As someone who's struggled with social anxiety, I found Komi's story to be incredibly relatable and endearing. The way the show balances humor and heart is masterful - I found myself laughing out loud one moment and tearing up the next.
The characters are so well-developed and lovable, especially Komi and Tadano. Their interactions are genuinely sweet and had me rooting for them from the start. I also appreciated how the show doesn't shy away from portraying the challenges of social anxiety, but also offers a message of hope and understanding.
The animation is beautiful, with a watercolor-inspired aesthetic that adds to the show's charm. The voice acting is also top-notch, bringing the characters to life in a way that feels authentic and emotional.

The characters are Great, They're all unique and bring something special to the table, making the interactions fun and memorable.
Story: 7/10
The story isn’t the most original—it’s a typical romance plot. However, Komi’s journey to overcome her communication disorder adds a nice touch and keeps things interesting.
Art: 9/10
The art is fantastic. It perfectly matches the story's tone, with beautiful character designs and vibrant backgrounds. The visual humor is also a big plus. Overall: 8/10
It's a great watch. While the story is nothing new, the unique characters and amazing art make it enjoyable. Definitely worth checking out for a fun, heartfelt romance.

Komi san can't communicate recap
Komi-san is now attending high school; Her attractive appearance and unapproachably cold stare have students worship her as a goddess. However, Komi just wants to have friends and tries extra hard to find friends. Tadano, the class outcast begins talking to Komi and discovers her social anxiety disorder; He tries to understand her more by getting her to write. Komi wishes to make 100 friends and Tadano is deadset on helping her out.
Story & Characters 7/10
The story does appear very unique at first but after a few episodes it settles down into the niche school slice of life. In the beginning Komi's trembling became a weaponized sign of her looking down on others but it gradually softens to smaller shivers. I think the characters are much more personified i…
