Apocalypse Hotel

Apocalypse Hotel

Introduction

In the year 2157, Gingarou Hotel, a luxury establishment in Ginza, Tokyo, employs advanced hotelier robots to provide best-in-class hospitality. Unfortunately, no one has visited the hotel in decades, as humanity has long abandoned Earth due to its toxic atmosphere. Yachiyo, the robot "acting acting manager," works tirelessly every day alongside her mechanical crew to keep the hotel running in tip-top shape. Over the years, many employees have ceased functioning, with no hope of repair or replacement. Still, Yachiyo continues to fulfill her duties, just as she promised the hotel's owner before his departure. She remains optimistic that humanity will one day return to Earth—and that she will see the owner again. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

This anime mix very well happy and melancholic fellings, giving a strange satisfaction at the end. Something like: Yeah, thats it, thats life (in sort of a good way). All the robots are so cute and have more charisma than many people lol Besides, the apocallitc scenario of the show is very unique and has it charm, such as the characters, principally the robot lady one. Anyways, it's not a masterpiece that will make your chin drop, but definitelly a very good piece that will make you satisfect. Worth a watch try at least. The first episodes shoud catch you if you are the right person for this anime.

Apocalypse Hotel is what happens when a hotel anime decides the apocalypse already happened and nobody told the concierge. You got Yachiyo, a robot receptionist, running a hotel for zero guests in a dead Earth... until aliens, drifters, and straight-up weirdos start showing up centuries later. It’s slow burn + cozy + kinda sad all at once. No big fights, no “save humanity” plot - just a robot trying her best to keep the lights on and be polite while time moves 100 years between episodes. CygamesPictures animated it super clean too, all that soft lighting and empty city vibes hit you right in the feels. The show’s basically about loneliness, time, and how being kind is still worth it even when the world’s over. Is it for hype chasers? Nah. But if you want something that’ll make you go “damn…

Episodes 1-4 got straight to the point and made me laugh and cry. Unfortunately the rest went nowhere. At the beginning there was a sense that the hotel is doomed. But the problems weren't overcome, they were simply forgotten. Even one case of seemingly irreparable damage was reverted in a single line of dialogue. The art was pleasant, though the door opening robot is always very obviously a 3d model. There were a number of potentially interesting guests that could have made the show good despite not having the guts to commit to an ending. Unfortunately, only the space tanukis were looked at more closely. They were annoying and unoriginal and 4/5 of them were barely characters. Perhaps their arrival derailed the story, as they essentially fixes the problem of only having robots with th…

Apocalypse Hotel is a cute post-apocalyptic story about a robot girl managing an abandoned hotel. That’s about all anyone needs to know going in, but it’s so much more than that. I can’t get into much detail while avoiding spoilers, but despite being one of the chillest anime, a quasi-slice-of-life with very little action or drama and a mystery that’s rarely directly addressed, it’s extraordinarily compelling. While keeping us busy with day-to-day life in a quiet, beautiful world with an excellent sense of scale and location, it builds an impressive slow-burn arc for the main character. The subtle shifts and twists in the plot slowly metamorphize the part of the world she lives in and her relationship to it. She does not react in very unexpected ways, she is a robot after all, but she do…

I didn't know anything about this anime and started watching it by accident. I had no expectations, and I was pleasantly surprised. In the story, in the future, humanity leaves the earth because of a deadly virus. Only robots are left to live on Earth. Some of them work in a hotel. And although they no longer have visitors, they continue to do their job. A lot of time has passed and they still have new visitors, but not people, but aliens. How many problems and troubles fall on the heads of the hotel employees. It's not always easy to get along with aliens, but it's definitely fun. An interesting and original plot is skillfully revealed throughout the anime. Each episode is a separate little story. They all differ greatly in pace and mood, sometimes it's a serious drama, and sometimes it's…

tldr: robots made me giggle, then i cried This show is slow and that can be off putting for people. It builds up at parts, but returns to being slow. I appreciated this compared to my normal anime diet of constant isekai slop. Although it is tagged as a comedy, the sad underlying reality pushes through constantly. It is not enough to feel oppressive, but enough to feel sad right after finishing laughing. Don't get me wrong, the show is goofy, but it also made me sad. I have too many other anime to watch on my list, but this... this is getting a rewatch 9/10 I expect a shampoo hat on my return

Severely underrated. Sometimes, you don't need a complex story. Sometimes, you just need to tell a simple story well. Apocalypse Hotel was exactly that. The premise is simple. There was a virus on Earth. Humans needed to evacuate. The hotel owner entrusted the hotel to his robots. The characters live a normal life: They work. Some of them get married and have kids. They even have normal emotions, despite being robots. There's even a cute little motif throughout the show where the main character/robot Yachiyo unlocks an achievement and new feature, whenever she gains a new experience or emotion. These simple actions were enough for me to fall in love with characters whom I originally found annoying (the tanukis lol), to the point I even cried for them in episode 9. Lastly, they couldn't…

If robots start becoming the Norm, i hope this is the direction the world goes towards. Apocalypse Hotel takes place in a post-apolypse world, its a slice of slife anime series, with bits of comedy. This Anime is pretty good, the animation is really good, the opening and ending song are really good. the artstyle is perfect for the story. Characters are very nice, the main character's realization of her true identity in a few of the episodes is also interesting. The story is slow, but also has a strong focus on how time passes, people growing up and changing.

Welcome to the Gingarou Hotel! Apocalypse Hotel’s all about the vibes; light hearted and breaming with hope while having a depressing premise as a backdrop. The overarching storyline felt weak due to its episodic nature. Storyline aside, the series has a lot to offer; interesting premise, likable but also slightly generic characters, goofy moments, tear jerkers and gorgeous visuals. The moments of world exploration and hotel developments tidbits are my favourites by far! I also often find myself looking forward to the different life forms introduced in this series. In hindsight, the series could have benefited from more world building moments. Ultimately, Apocalypse Hotel was a pleasant surprise. It serves its niche as a filler/palate cleanser anime well and I’ll caution anyone going int…

“Time isn’t something you lose. It changes constantly and adds layers to your life.” Apocalypse Hotel is a 12 episode anime series that was released in 2025 and was animated by CygamesPictutes, a company known for their mobile games and anime adaptions based on those mobile games, though this one was an original story. The series was directed by Kana Shundo, who had previously only directed a single episode of Princess Connect! Re: Dive. The series is about a hotel ran by a few robot employees after humanity leaves Earth due to the air becoming toxic to primates - their goal is to keep the hotel running until humanity, and especially their hotel’s owner, returns. As decades, and eventually centuries, begin to pass, it seems less and less likely that humanity will ever make the voyage bac…

This is a gorgeous show. And one of the best shows of Spring 2025. I often skip the opening songs in anime. They are usually not worth watching twice. But for this anime I disabled the 'skip intro' option and let it play, every time. It has a good dance sequence which leads me to think they spent a chunk of money on it. Needless to say I really like the opening of the episodes, if that wasn't clear already... While the overall show is excellent, I have to admit I was bored at times. Why bored? The story takes place for hundreds of years. Show obviously doesn't cover activities taking place in all that time as episodes often have time skips. Some aliens are more interesting than others, and episodes vary in tone depending on the circumstances. One episode they are trying to make alcohol as…

“Apocalypse Hotel” is what happens when a pretty depressing subject is treated lightheartedly (in a good way, surprisingly). Honestly, after reading the premise I was expecting something more like Disney’s “WALL-E” or maybe something more depressing like Tsukumizu’s “Girls’ Last Tour” with maybe, just maybe a pinch of an anthology like “Four Rooms”. I would say this show leans more towards the former than the latter. Is that good? Depends what you fancy. Personally I would prefer something more depressing, thought provoking (maybe even cathartic) and with better world building but that’s just me. And given how heavy handed and tacky a lot of anime that tackle the vibe can be I can’t be that disappointed. Before we start I would like to explain something. I will be talking about “plot” an…

"This anime was a surprise for me, exceeding my expectations with a science fiction twist that wasn't childish or just about a robot philosophically contemplating the Earth's landscape. Instead, it delivered a story with adventure, reflections on life, the importance of caring for wildlife, comedic moments, and varied characters that will surprise you with their designs when you see the turn the plot takes. You will also see the consequences and successes of the changes in the characters' environment and their actions; this is something rarely seen in this type of anime, since these stories usually seek a more childish approach, but audiences of all ages can enjoy this one. The animation is very beautiful. You will see different styles mixing CGI with 2D, successfully handling the various…

An extremely creative, unique, funny, heartwarming, and emotional anime. The characters are loveable and hilarious, particularly Yachiyo which is exactly what you want from your MC. The story is absolutely beautiful and tells a wonderful story about the power of human technology, hope, and perseverance. The overarching plot is pretty straightforward. Robots try to run a hotel in waiting in vain for humanity, but it's all the twists and turns which you'd never expect which makes the plots episode to episode so enticing and made me unable to stop watching. There's so much to love about every moment in both story and characters. The art itself was decent, but it's all the jokey stylistic changes that really make characters and scenes pop. Again, particularly Yachiyo shines even more with th…

Sci-Fi anime of this variety can be hard to find. I love mechs as much as the next person, but I sometimes want something new. And this show delivers creativity in spades, combining the best science fiction has to offer (a deadly virus, humanity's subsequent departure, aliens, and sentient robots) into an apocalyptic slice of life. On paper, the show really should not work, but somehow it does. It blends comedic moments with drama and tension very nicely, even if at times it does tend to go a bit overboard. The heart put into the characters, their development, and the world as a whole is worth every minute, occasional continuity errors and all. Sci-Fi enthusiasts will love this show, as it delves into the hallmarks of Science fiction, exploring what it means to be human, what it means not…

This is seemingly fun and lighthearted, but has some deeper and more emotional undercurrents that gradually rise up through each successive episode. There are a few missteps, but it’s hard not to be charmed by the setting and characters. The style and design are well suited to the tone and story. It’s essentially a comedy, occasionally a bit dark, but still manages to tell a complete story that spans a much longer than expected timeframe. Episode 11 is particularly poignant and beautifully done. That alone earned at least a half star from me. The finale was also great. Highly recommended if you like a mostly wholesome, funny, and slightly emotional series with a unique setting and premise.

One of the surprises of the season, and I’d even dare to say one of the best anime of 2025. It’s a 12-episode original that blends sci-fi, post-apocalyptic themes, and slice of life. Both Ponko and Yachiyo are major highlights and truly carry the show as protagonists throughout the episodes. The supporting characters also do a solid job. The show manages to stay interesting in nearly everything it presents. There are moments of humor, moments of sadness, and also times when it reminds you that the end of the world has already come and that it's a harsh reality. Personal opinion: Episode 11 is one of the best anime episodes I’ve seen in a long time, and episode 9 is also top-tier. Highly recommended!

So good, so so so good. so good that if you end up not enjoying I am worried your brain has been destroyed by those fanservice filled generic anime. I found this on a whim. At first I just watched an episode to go with the food, but then I was hooked. This show has comedy, this show has drama, this show has romance, this show has thriller, this show has action, this show has slice of life, this show has emotions. And none of these are present in an overwhelming excess, they are all so well-balanced, you will find yourself on a journey without knowing it. Some people might not enjoy, and as i said in my starting line, its because your brain is no longer capable of enjoying things that differ from a more generalized idea. People want anime to be a linear concept that keeps to its narrative w…

How refreshing for a coherent, and well-delivered story to exist in a landscape where originality is scarce. With a simple premise and a comedic touch, it carries the weight of heavier themes - hope, loss, time - in a way that's digestible and real. The animation quality was a pleasant surprise, the voice-acting well-directed and performed, and I cannot personally fault the soundtrack. As for the scene design - shall we say, out of this world? Of course it's not perfect, I wanted to give this the strongest 8 I could. Some choices I feel kept it from becoming a timeless classic, but for what it chose to be, it overdelivered. A true standout of the year. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------…

🛸 in a world rid of all humans, one hotel stands manned by robots 🛸 tis the premise for this series anyways. But i will say it's much more than that though. With the post-apocalyptic setting, it would seem this series would tip on the more somber/depressive side of things, and while this series does get a little sad a times, it mostly keeps an uplifting and positive atmosphere. It's a lot of fun with all the comedy and new characters constantly getting introduced that creates these wild interactions. First up for business, Characters!! All the characters for this show are so well made. Our main cast involves a humanoid AI hotel robot, and a tanuki family. This group of 2 is hilarious on its own, but as more and more characters approach, it gets even better with them all interacting in…
