Black Clover

Black Clover

Introduction

Asta and Yuno were abandoned at the same church on the same day. Raised together as children, they came to know of the "Wizard King"—a title given to the strongest mage in the kingdom—and promised that they would compete against each other for the position of the next Wizard King. However, as they grew up, the stark difference between them became evident. While Yuno is able to wield magic with amazing power and control, Asta cannot use magic at all and desperately tries to awaken his powers by training physically. When they reach the age of 15, Yuno is bestowed a spectacular Grimoire with a four-leaf clover, while Asta receives nothing. However, soon after, Yuno is attacked by a person named Revchi, whose main purpose is to obtain Yuno's Grimoire. Asta tries to fight Revchi, but he is outmatched. Though without hope and on the brink of defeat, he finds the strength to continue when he hears Yuno's voice. Unleashing his inner emotions in a rage, Asta receives a five-leaf clover Grimoire, a "Black Clover" giving him enough power to defeat Revchi. A few days later, the two friends head out into the world, both seeking the same goal—to become the Wizard King! [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Black Clover — An Entertaining Shonen With Noticeable Flaws Score: 7/10 After hearing so much praise for Black Clover, I finally decided to give it a chance. Having watched the original 170-episode run, I can confidently say that I enjoyed my experience, but I also think the series is somewhat overhyped. Let's start with the positives. Black Clover is an entertaining battle shonen with a simple but effective underdog premise. Asta's determination, the Black Bulls' chemistry, the power system, and the escalating battles make the series enjoyable to follow. Characters like Yami, Noelle, Mereoleona, and Julius are particular highlights for me, each bringing something memorable to the story. When the series gets its emotional moments and fights right, it can be genuinely exciting. Unfortun…

Story- 6 out of 10 The story is about a boy who cannot use magic in the world of magic and his journey to be The Wizard King. Wizard King is the highest title a wizard can reach. This motivation seems to be taken straight from Naruto but that's good imo. But due to the power system having no depth and the fights being very repetitive makes the story less enjoyable. Characters- 5 out of 10 Asta is a very generic protagonist. He is a guy with superhuman physical capabilities and anti-magic in a world of magic. Despite having the most OP thing in his world, he is quite weak. He gets injured horribly in almost all of his fights in this season. All his fights are same- Start, Get Beaten, Shout loudly to make your friends and enemies heart move & finally, WIN. His quote of "Never giving up is m…

Black Clover is the most over rated new gen anime. Idk how people say it's the best new gen. You have to be joking. Black clover is the reheated nachos of One piece, Naruto and Bleach. Except it has nothing to offer. Those 3 animes have something in them that makes them special. They mashed up these 3 and expected people to like it. It's one of the worst new gen anime oat. Aside from that Asta is the most annoying MC I have seen in a while. His voice is just so annoying to hear. The side characters are more interesting than the main character. It's lack luster. We have grown out from this trope a character trying to be "Wizard King". It has been done so many times. The new gens line JJK, DS etc have something special to offer. Don't even bother watching it. Your ears will bleed from Ast…

A fantastic shonen new gen and one of the best - obviously there are glaring issues with the animation and production issues but other than that I absolutely love this anime - I haven’t watched anime this long that has as many memorable charachters in a very long time - all the difference clans are so unique and diverse - the black bulls being a bunch of outcasts that grow as close as a real family is so worth it - the charachter development is outstanding and you really start to connect with each and every character as it continues - the story also gradually gets better and it has now been a very long time since anticipating a continuation - another positive is the soundtracks eg op/eds - absolute top class and some of the best music from an anime

Black Clover is an anime that improves over time; the first arcs are very poorly animated, have uninteresting plots, and boring fights. Honestly, the only good part of the beginning of Black Clover is the characters (I watched it dubbed in Brazilian Portuguese and I consider it a good dub because I don't feel any hatred for the original Asta unlike when i tried watching in the original VA). I would say that the anime improves on some of these aspects after the Sea Temple arc. But they still have some of these problems. One example is the fights, lots of fights, especially in the initial arcs, ended quickly in just a few blows or had boring choreography that didn't make anything interesting for it's entity. An example of this type of fight is the fight against Rades, His summons do nothing…

My friends made me watch it and honestly I don't regret listening to them What I liked the most is the constant energy. The anime almost never stands still. Each arc adds something new, each character gets their moment to shine and, surprisingly, Black Clover manages to make a large cast of characters seem important. This, although it seems like a simple protagonist at first, becomes very easy to appreciate although at first it can be a bit annoying I like that he doesn't immediately emerge as a special character but on the contrary compared to his brother Although at first I considered the animation weak and that it was not at the level I expected but it improved from episode to episode and I can say that after episode 40+ everything is already on another level However, the reason wh…

Almost 6 years ago, I tried watching Black Clover but couldn't get past episode 10. This week, I suddenly felt the urge to pick it back up and wow, I finished all 170 episodes straight! I've barely been sleeping at all! Hahaha I should've listened to people who kept telling me it was good. Because they're right! Once you get over Asta's loudness, it's a very nice show. I absolutely love the fight scenes! Very unique and unpredictable! Love the group fights and skill combos! It's always fresh and non-repeatitive. Great characters too, almost everyone gets their time to shine. Nice story. Plot moves smoothly with barely any fillers. All in all, I love it. One of my best watch in recent years!

Black Clover is an amazing anime when it comes to fights — honestly, that’s where it really shines. The battles feel like a work of art, super intense, and they easily get you hyped. As for the story, it’s pretty engaging overall — not perfect, but definitely not bad either. The main issue is the pacing; it can feel slow at times, and honestly, 170 episodes felt a bit too much to cover the events. Overall, though, it’s one of the best modern anime out there, no doubt. The variety of characters is a big plus and adds a lot to the experience. We’ve been waiting since 2021 for season 2, and hopefully it continues at the same level. Definitely worth watching.

with what might just be the final chapter coming out in a month, it's almost time to sunset another of the "new big 4". re-watching the anime in preparation to re-read the manga, i've warmed on it considerably. despite being built on sand, the story functions with stakes and surprises, and even a little bit of hype moments and aura. keep that tepid admiration in mind as we consider what qualifies this show to be placed in the same group as JJK, MHA, or demon slayer. the show's primary issues, ignoring the inconsistent and often shameful quality before the conversion to a seasonal format, is the characters being both so idiotic that i have began using 'black clover levels of stupid' in my daily life and so shallow that their character lines would approach zero should you disqualify every…

Honestly, I really like Black Clover. I actually enjoyed the manga even more, but that belongs in another category. Regarding the anime itself, there are still a few disappointing aspects worth mentioning first. The first issue is its length. It’s a long anime, but not necessarily a slow one. However, since I already know how the story continues, some arcs clearly feel stretched out. The constant escalation involving demons, higher demons, and even stronger demon threats eventually becomes a bit excessive and repetitive. That being said, the overall storyline remains enjoyable. Despite the large number of episodes, the adventure flows well and stays easy to follow. The second major weakness lies in animation quality. Considering the popularity and expectations surrounding Black Clover,…

Black Clover is one the greatest shonen anime out there. Its highs are higher than most shonen anime out there. It's able to bring hype and entertainment more effectively than a lot of series. It's beginning episodes are unfortunately a bit slow paced, but around 30 episodes in it becomes a fun ride. Each arc gets better and better. Elf reincarnation arc is top 5 shonen anime arcs of all time. It's a lot like other shonen anime, but it uses those tropes to the best of its ability, and it only makes the story stronger. The anime adaptation is good. It has lows, as that's expected from a Pierrot anime but it's highs are truly remarkable. The legendary Yoshihara is able to elevate the Black Clover manga to new heights

Black Clover introduces a world where magic is not just a skill but the foundation of society itself. Status, power, and even opportunity are often determined by the strength of one’s magical ability. Within this system, two boys grow up together in a church located in the remote village of Hage, named Asta and Yuno. Both are orphans who share the same dream of becoming the next Wizard King, the highest authority among the kingdom’s mages and the symbol of military strength within the Clover Kingdom. From the beginning, however, the two boys stand on completely opposite sides of the magical spectrum. Yuno possesses extraordinary talent and receives a rare four-leaf grimoire, a magical book said to choose exceptional mages. Asta, on the other hand, grows up in a world that revolves around m…

It’s been taking so long for the next season/episode, and I honestly miss Asta and Blackbulls so muchhhhhhhhh!!!!!! T-T. Anyway, I really recommend this show. Black Clover perfectly balances action and comedy, which makes watching it even more enjoyable. The humor adds so much life to the story, making the long episodes feel lighter and more fun instead of tiring. Even though the episodes are long, you barely notice it while watching. You’re literally having so much fun that you don’t realize you’ve already watched several episodes in a row—suddenly, you’re deep into a binge session without even meaning to, haha.

Black Clover is not a very unique anime. Even though the power system is good, you can compare some parts to other anime, such as Bleach or Hunter x Hunter. I really liked the first couple of episodes, a few in the middle, and the last arc, but the rest felt kind of basic. I can see why some people like the parts I thought were basic, especially younger people, but I still think there are better anime for them. Sometimes there were too many fights in a short period, making it repetitive. Overall, it's a good anime, and I'm excited for the next season in 2026.

Went in with zero expectations, absolutely no idea what to expect whatsoever. But I can confidently say this was peak show. The start is slow, a good build if I say so, how the characters slowly develop, get stronger throughout training mainly Asta since he has no magic at all. But as it progresses, it gets better and better with each fight. There were some lighthearted moments that gave you a breather during major events, or after events which was refreshing to see, a little bit of relax and casual moments other than training and fighting. The story and major events that happened, for me, it wasn't anything too complex or whatnot, it was simple goals and fairly straightforward but maybe stretched to some length, not that it was an issue in fact it was that more enjoyable. The journey of…

After completing 107 animes over different genres, I can confidently say that Black Clover is peak. Hard to get into at first because of obvious yelling and a slow start, but once the pacing gets better and the story starts to unfold, it honestly gets beautiful. People honestly say that JJK, Demon slayer and CSM are the new gen big 3 but i truly believe that Black Clover needs to be up there. Upcoming fights will break the internet when animated, mark my words. DONT SLEEP ON BLACK CLOVER GUYS. This is your sign if you were thinking about getting into it, just be a bit patient with it.

I would never actually tell someone they should watch a show with 100+ episodes but if you're the type to do something like that, Black Clover is a decent choice. The animation isn't anything to write home about. The pacing, in the first half especially (which is like 80 episodes), is whiplash inducing. There is so little 'dere' in the tsundere love interest that she might as well of been an actual villain half the time. The world budling is ridiculous. They spend too much unnecessary time on the backstories of so many characters. The magic technobabble is silly and there's too much dialogue dedicated to the least interesting parts of the magic system. But still.... I think it kinda kicks ass. I can't pretend that investing the time to watch something this long doesn't lead to some sunk…

First, I have to say how annoying the character's voice became for most people, but for me, he's a quirky character who's fun to watch as he tries his best and lives life to the fullest! It's typical shounen, but I like it. In moments of defeat, we can see that it's not just willpower, showing that Asta and the antagonists are not just simple, empty characters. The progress is simple but natural (also typical of a shounen manga, but fun). The soundtrack was really cool, actually bringing the story, powers, and diverse situations to life, acting as a “fusion” to make it even cooler. Unfortunately, I felt that as the story progressed, the author lost the essence of when he started, which for me, episodes 47 or 48 were the best! That said, the anime doesn't lose consistency, despite the fi…

This show is a complete slog up until episode 91 and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless they can force themselves to finish it because it's a 2/10 at best until that point. The second half the show is better than the first half. cons: 1. Too much screaming and whining, Asta would give a toddler a run for their money. Switching to the dub made the obnoxious screaming slightly more bearable. 2. Each supporting character has their own set of quirks and jokes that constantly resurface and get very old very fast. 3. One minor jump in the story towards the end that convinced me I had skipped an episode, so we have to infer what happened (pretty easy to do). 4. Lack of detail animation in early fight scenes. Stopped noticing this later on. pros: 1. Mereoleona.

Honestly, when I first started Black Clover, I assumed it would be just another silly little shonen packed with all the usual tropes. And in some ways, it is—but I wouldn’t stick around for 170 episodes just for the silliness. Let’s talk about the characters, easily my favorite part of the show. What began as a one-dimensional rivalry full of loud yelling slowly evolved into something deeper and more layered. From Yuno and Asta to the eccentric “bah-ha” Knight, each character is given their own backstory, motivations, abilities, and worldview. While I can’t say I relate to any of them personally, Asta’s “let’s talk it out” approach feels surprisingly relevant in today’s world. I’m not a huge fan of how some characters are locked into their quirks, like the workout addict, the guy with a s…
