I don't know why I didn't watch it sooner; my brother kept telling me about it, but I always ended up watching newer anime. It’s definitely worth watching—you might want to give up at the start (I actually quit the first time), but with a little nudge (thanks to my boyfriend), you’ll end up enjoying it. It’s cool, especially since everyone looks alike—I think that’s why the title doesn't feature the protagonist's name, lol. The art styles are so iconic—it gives off the vibe of watching something from 2008—and the characters are unique. I obviously would have liked more depth, though I don't think the anime really lends itself to that; still, it could easily have run for over 600 episodes if it had. And yes, there are a lot of spoilers.
But most of them are actually pretty cool.

Despite the pading and pacing hiccups here and there, the sheer art, iconic characters, and a masterpiece of a soundtrack makes Bleach worth the watch. If you love fighting, and an awesome plot, then don't wait on this like I did it!
In my very honest opinion, very interesting and amazing plot that gets interrupted by constant fillers, and slow pacing around the 3rd main arc, which isn't much of a problem, since you can skip them. Personally would recommend at least trying out Zanpakuto Rebellion, or Gotei 13 Invading Army filler arcs.
Kubo's character designs, wearing streetwear and other fashion wear are awesome. It's made obvious that the author could easily become a fashion designer. Each Bankai/Shikai's look incredible, creative and unique
Shirō Sagisu, the mastermind behind Evange…

Bleach is a series that I really like, and I have a lot of affection for it. I can understand why some people criticize it, because it definitely has its flaws. The pacing can be problematic at times, there is quite a lot of filler, and some parts of the story could have been handled better.
However, acknowledging its problems doesn't make me enjoy it any less. I love its characters, its fights, its world, its style, and especially the feeling that Bleach has as a series. There are things I would change about it, but that doesn't take away from how much I enjoy watching and reading it.
Bleach isn't perfect, and I don't think it needs to be perfect for me to love it. I can recognize its mistakes while still genuinely enjoying the series, and that's what matters most to me.

[ STORY ] 5/10
Bleach's concepts are definitely interesting, but most of it's just: a girl gets kidnapped > shit happens > another girl gets kidnapped > some even bigger shit happens. For the most part, I found it pretty stale and mediocre up until the last two arcs, not to mention the shit pacing paired with ~50% filler.
[ CHARACTERS ] 3/10
Most Bleach characters are either shallow, useless/unimportant or just look like absolute ass, there's very character development before The Thousand Year Blood war. Like someone else said, you'd also want to repeatedly hit yourself with a lead pipe after most moments of forced humour.
[ ANIMATION ] 3/10
Animation is mediocre at best and the characters are either 1 or 100, some look so bad that you'll most likely wonder if they were designed by a…

Bleach is the story of teenager Ichigo Kurosaki, who has the ability to see ghosts and ends up becoming a soul reaper or shinigami by accident after meeting one called Rukia Kuchiki, thus starting a quest of hunting corrupted monster-like souls known as Hollows. Basically a japanese Buffy the Vampire Slayer, as my sister once described it when I told her the premise, lol.
At first I simply found it entertaining due to following a monster of the week formula, although I did love the soundtrack and the spanish dub had an amazing voice casting (for example, when you listen to Ichigo, Kon and Rukia together in spanish, you're imagining Legolas and Merry from LOTR arguing in front of Arwen lol). However by the time Rukia gets arrested back to Soul Society and Ichigo has to train with shopkeep…

I started it like 6 times because I thought it was boring, you know? But bro, I just started it again and OMG… this is the best anime I have ever seen. HOOOOLY, thank God I finally watched it. Ngl, this is my favorite anime. I love every single character, the whole plot, everything about it. There are almost no bad episodes. W, best anime OAT for real.
The story feels weird at first, but it becomes so good. It was really unique back then, and even today it still holds up in every single way. The characters, the world, the story… everything is just amazing.
Bro, I dropped this anime like 6 times because I thought it was boring… but I finally gave it another chance and HOLY SHII, I’m so glad I did. This is genuinely one of the best anime I’ve ever watched. I love every character, the sto…

Personally my favourite out of the big 3 whether it’s the manga or the anime - seriously incredible experience - obviously the fillers do ruin the pacing and such but my god the actual canon arcs one after another just keep topping each other - so many iconic charachters one after another and quite easily my favourite protagonist out of the big 3 - going from the soul society arc to the Arrancar arc just an out of body experience - the plot twists the antagonists everything is just great - the power system like bankai and all the unique zanpaktos are all iconic - an anime that will always be apart of the big 3 no matter what and is a huge template for modern day shonen shows

Bleach is one of those anime that reminds me why I fell in love with shonen in the first place. It has everything I was looking for at the time. An awesome main character, a huge cast of memorable side characters, incredible sword fights, and a great soundtrack.
The Soul Society arc is easily one of my favorite story arcs in anime. Every captain and lieutenant has a unique personality and fighting style, so it never feels like the battles are repetitive. Characters like Kenpachi, Byakuya, Urahara, and Rukia completely stole the show for me (though I still struggle remember all thier names), and watching Ichigo grow stronger while staying true to who he is made it more enjoyable.
One thing Bleach absolutely nails is style. The character designs are clean and iconic, the Bankai reveals are…

"It's that voluptuous babe."
-- the following is a discussion on how wanting to retain an audience with no stops is detrimental to pacing and counterintuitive to what is set out upon, problems with power scaling, poorly written women, and a mixed celebration of what there is left. there's an assumption that one is already familiar with the basic structure and world building of bleach. reader discretion is advised. --
Bleach is a behemoth. It's been around for a long time, one of the big three, and with enough pop culture staying power that there are older fans who watched it as kids when it originally aired that continue to speak praises and newer fans who want to educate themselves on what 'peak' was and, for many, still is. Kubo's art style and the nobody->the one story are very appeal…

Like many others, I started watching Bleach so I could watch tybw. Altough tybw is pretty good, the first season of Bleach was nothing but dissapointing for me.
Bleach consists of your average shonen plot, where the main character slowly overpowers the villain. The show didnt go out of this format and kept it up for every non-filler arc. This type of plot is pretty bland in itself, but can work if done right. Bleach didnt do this right, and the only other "exciting" thing it did was occasional flashbacks of non-interesting characters and vague lore. The lore of the story is all around the place. They throw many abstracts ideas around, while never deeply exploring them, to the point it becomes overwhelming and too ambiguous.
Aside from the repetitive and bland plot, the characters were al…

As someone who grew up watching Dragon Ball, Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach. Out of those four, Bleach was always my least favorite growing up. Not because it was bad (I loved Bleach) but compared to the other 3 I felt like it was a lot slower.
That being said, I feel like Bleach deserved WAY more recognition than it gets today.
The fact that the biggest anime’s that are changing Anime today (2026) all drew inspiration from bleach (JJK, DS, MHA) just shows how underrated it really is.
First I will go over why I believe Bleach deserves more recognition
Then I’ll explain why I think it never reached the same level of popularity as Naruto and One Piece.
One thing Bleach never gets enough credit for is its world building. While Naruto focused on ninja villages and One Piece focused on pira…

The stylish and grandiose Bleach.
Bleach was one of the works I consumed almost automatically when I started delving deeper into anime. I had a very specific goal: to get to Ichigo's fight against Ulquiorra as quickly as possible. At the time, this battle was practically legendary among fans, so I rushed through hundreds of episodes completely consumed by hype.
And honestly? It was worth it.
Even though today I can see many flaws in the work, I still find it impossible to deny how much Bleach possesses its own identity. Among the great classic shonen anime, it's perhaps the most stylish of all.
The first point that always captivates me is the universe created by Tite Kubo. The idea of dividing existence between the human world, Soul Society, and Hueco Mundo is extremely interesting.…

As an anime only viewer i can say original bleach is okish above avg show but tybw is really good ...... i feel many times story is dragged for unnecessary reasons and final outcome many times is very short or is not as good as its hyped , though it has its own moments and some arcs and fights really stands out and enjoyable..... i understand why its part of big 3 big as these concepts and story is mind blowing as of that time but like me if you are watching this show after already watched modern shoenn anime( which actually came out from bleach ) you wont enjoy it as much as its hyped.... the long long tough bankai names is something i felt very unnecessary but overall its decent show but tybw is excellent .......but i didnt enjoy it as much as i enjoy naruto and one piece .... no idea ab…

Bleach is not just one of the Big Three. Bleach is an entire atmosphere.
What can truly be said about this series? It was one of the Big Three, and it always will be. Alongside other legendary long-running shonen anime of its era, Bleach helped define what anime meant to an entire generation of fans. The characters, the music, the fights, the transformations, the swords, the villains, the drip, the spiritual worldbuilding — all of it has left such a permanent mark on anime culture.
But before getting into the greatness of the series, it is only fair to start with the biggest negative.
Like many long-running shonen anime from that time period, Bleach is loaded with filler. And unfortunately, a lot of that filler is rough. Some of it is poorly paced, some of it feels completely unnecessar…

BLEACH is indeed one of the greatest anime of all time. It's the rightful member of the Big 3. Words won't be enough to describe its influence on me.
BLEACH has a unique and amazing storyline. One can say it is a mixture of every genre. It has action, thriller, comedy, suspense, adventure and a little bit of romance. I mean BLEACH is a complete package. Our protagonist Ichigo is not like other typical shonen mcs. He doesn't have any specific big goal. He doesn't want power for his own sake either. He just wants power to protect the people who are dear to him. That's why he is one of the best well-written characters in the anime industry. BLEACH's story is about his journey from a high school boy to a protector of everyone. BLEACH shows us the strength, emotion and sufferings of a human th…

Bleach is one of those anime that you somehow can’t fully love or fully hate.
It has many strong moments, emotional scenes, and some genuinely exciting fights. At its best, the show delivers memorable characters and dramatic situations that really make you care. However, the tone can sometimes be inconsistent. In the middle of serious battles or emotional moments, the anime occasionally inserts silly or cringe comedy that breaks the tension.
Some people say this is normal for shounen anime, but I don’t fully agree. Not every shounen interrupts intense scenes with humor like this, and sometimes it hurts the pacing of the moment.
Despite that, the show is still fun. I genuinely enjoyed most of it. The world-building and character introductions keep things interesting, especially in the ea…

Bleach is all in all very mid.
Good points:
- Bleach actually has amazing character design, much better than a lot of anime out there. Each character looks unique and interesting, which makes them much more likeable.
- The music was good as far as I remember.
Negative points: - The characters are not very interesting or well written and the side characters (especially Ichigo's friends) are completely useless.
- The plot is very basic and not interesting or compelling really. It's kinda funny because the main antagonist even asks Ichigo about his motivations and you're like "Yeah Ichigo, what ARE your motivations even?" after like 200 episodes.
- Most fights were pretty boring to me and they all sadly share the same formula. Ichigo gets pressed/stomped by the opponent, he somehow gets…

After years, I finally got around to finishing Bleach. Honestly, if it weren’t for the Bount arc, I probably would’ve finished it much earlier.
So, what is there to say about Bleach? First of all, among the Big Three, I think it’s the coolest anime and the one with the best world-building. Soul Society, Hueco Mundo — everything is amazing. Not to mention the characters, who are incredible, both the main cast and the side characters. The one I like the least is Chad, but he’s not a bad character.
As for the story, I liked it a lot. Many people criticize Ichigo for being a protagonist without a clear goal, but I think watching his story develop and mature with every battle he fights to protect his friends and the people he loves is really well done. That said, the one thing that really ann…
