Need to rewatch at some point, but from what I remember it is not super deep in the themes that it presents, but it has really cool character design and the whole power system is unique and really cool.
I would recommend for anyone that likes this "older" animation (not really old just isn't up to modern standards) and people that are just looking for cool character design and cool power systems. Also, from what I remember the fights are pretty cool and can really be super entertaining and interesting. Overall though nothing deep and is nothing that is going to blow your mind away. I think for me it is a 6 really just because of nostalgia and if I were to rewatch now, I would probably not like it as much as I once did. I am more into seinen now and this would not really fit my vibe.

Here is an anime with amazing character design, great art style, interesting world building and good openings with maybe a little too much fanservice and perverted male character (seriously tho why does almost every men in here has to be disgusting?) but towards the end the plot gets stuck, the mc (maka) becomes very annoying, everything starts to feel repetitive and you just want it to end, it was actually hard to continue watching despite loving the characters and the plot, it became boring. wich is lame bc when it finally comes to an end the final battle is underwhelming. lots of wasted potential imo

After finishing Fire Force, I started watching this anime, but I can’t say it lived up to my expectations. There were moments that really made me feel exhausted while watching it.
In particular, some characters were very repetitive, which prevented me from enjoying it, and the ending didn’t satisfy me at all. As for the animation, considering the era it was released in, it was adequate maybe even above average but I don’t think it was of a lower quality.
In other words, with a completely different ending available, it wrapped up in a way that was nonsensical and made you wonder, “Was it really that simple?” If it hadn’t seemed like a sequel to Fire Force, I wouldn’t have wanted to start watching it.

Soul Eater is one of the classics that I think everyone should try and watch at least once. If I had to briefly describe this anime, it would have to be “wasted potential”.
Let’s start with the plot, it centers around the Death Weapon Meister Academy, where there are two types of students, Meisters and the Weapons. There is usually one Meister paired with one or two Weapons. It starts with their goal of collecting 99 evil souls and a witch soul, but soon spirals out of control when an evil demon, the first Kishin is beginning to be unleashed.
The story starts off very strong with a very creative premise, the Meister and Weapon duology was very interesting to see pan out. The main villain in the beginning felt intimidating too. The tone was unique too, it balanced funny wacky humor with…

Soul Eater is such a good anime, but it has issues. The main issue is obviously that anime caught up to the manga, so they had to make up the last 15 or so episodes, and that shows. In terms of animation, this show is a visual treat. Bones did the animation, and it's top notch as always: Fights look excellent, character animation is on point, and funny gags are hilariously animated. It's also very colourful and dynamic in terms of movement and whatnot.
When it comes to writing, it's very funny. It has a ton of gags, fun characters and they mix them all up very nicely. It's written in a way where characters have flaws that are super funny, where it's always something they obsess about or a character flaw that is taken to the extreme. Some of the humour can get a bit repetitive, but it's no…

At first, I thought this would just be an average anime, but the concept and style are actually really strong. The visuals still hold up, the world is unique, and every character has potential.
The problem is, it all just stops at “potential.”
None of the characters are really explored. You know what they’re like, but you’re never given the reasons or backstory behind it. So they feel more like concepts than actual people. The dialogue is also kinda lacking—good enough to move the plot, but never emotionally impactful.
What’s worse, there are quite a lot of filler episodes, but instead of using them to develop the characters, they focus on random stuff that doesn’t really add anything. That’s where it feels like a huge waste.
The shifting POV also makes it feel like there’s no strong main…

So, what can I say about Soul Eater? Is shit for Shonentards and very ridiculous and no-One with good taste should watch complete that shit… But… What about the first episode? Wow, that thing is the second best thing of Anime and third best thing of cinematography thanks to how well produced it is… Yeah, the pretty colors is what makes the experience of watching this first episode of Soul Eater a very COOL experience and the third most obligatory audiovisual experience ever thanks to how awesomely produced it is the episode, so watch the first episode of SE as if your life depends on it… 6/10…

Oh boy, where do I even start with this one…
Soul Eater is an anime that had been on my bucket list for quite a while, and with all the buzz about a potential remake being planned after Fire Force finishes, it seemed like the right time to give this older piece of anime history a shot.
Just a short disclaimer: I have not read the source material. I only watch and rate anime based on what is actually presented in the show. For this one, however, I did hear that the general audience really enjoyed the first part but disliked the second part due to changes made compared to the source material.
So let’s start with the actual review.
Soul Eater is a fairly generic edgy shounen anime that tries to present itself as deeper and darker than it actually is, but fails at it miserably and ends up…

Soul eater is lowkirk one of the most stylish anime oat. It just has swag. Character, designs, power systems, music, jokes everything is unique and cool. All the important characters are kinda stupid in thier own endearing way and its great. Soul Eater is really good at having goofy shit happen all the time and the plot is still tense because they goofy shit is woven into the story.
We kinda lost the plot in in the third quarter of the show but they picked up back up for the ending. One of the most unique anime I've ever watched.

For many people, an 8/10 is already considered a very high score, especially when you take into account the somewhat rushed ending the anime had. But for me, Soul Eater is one of my comfort anime, and it’s very easy to understand why. Beyond its unique aesthetic—which blends impressive visual art with a dynamic and vibrant animation style—the anime manages to create an atmosphere that mixes action, humor, and tense moments in a truly engaging way.
Talking a bit about the first episode (without spoilers, of course), the series starts at a slightly slow pace, especially if you consider the first three episodes, which focus on introducing the three main groups. However, this is essential for us to get familiar with the characters and their motivations. From the fourth episo…

Soul Eater is a series with good ideas and fun characters, but without the necessary time to elevate the whole story. The concept of hunting the souls of kishins and witches by Shibusen's young apprentices is presented nicely at the beginning, there are successful main characters, funny moments and elements that expand the plot, unfortunately the series goes up and down a bit, some episodes are almost bomb - others follow the same average path, but what is most important is the fact that the series takes the direction of an engaging big plot, gradually adds a number of great characters, but it no longer has time to work with all of it - the last episodes are a relatively flat story (like from a fast train) and all the potential evaporates like Kishin over Shibusen. Overall, I enjoyed the s…

Soul Eater my first anime ever was the one that I truly connected with. This show, as a whole, opened up my love for the style it portrays and the incredible world that its creator, Atsushi Ohkubo, brought to life. The heroes, the villains, and the world they exist in are just chef’s kiss to me.
The anime itself might not be perfect, and it’s definitely not a one-to-one adaptation of the manga it’s based on, but will Soul Eater captivate you? Yes. Yes, it absolutely will. Please, if you’ve never watched this show before, give it a try. For something that came out
back in 2008, it’s still beautifully animated it honestly holds up against many modern shows today.
I still wish it would get the reboot it so rightfully deserves, but until that day comes, Soul Eater will always have a special…

I never thaught that a shōnen anime could look this attractive until I started paying attention to Soul eater, I loved almost all the characters, their interactions, the comedy, the drama, their team work, but the conclusion seemed somewhat empty, although it didn't affect my expectations at all, since I wasn't intrigued by their goals to begin with, even then, I never felt bored watching this anime, the villains were captivating, but the problem was that I never understood their motives, for example, what is the purpose behind fighting Death itself?
Don't get me wrong, I undestand some of the implicit symbolism about hell against heaven, but in the end I was left with the impression that the villains are bad just because they represent hell, and not because they want to achieve anything…

With its initially bizarre-looking art style, the anime is something completely different and definitely stands out. Which other anime has an evil laughing sun or a moon from which blood is pouring out of its mouth? But that’s exactly what I find genius! I love anime that look different from the mainstream and dare to be a bit crazy. The anime is both action and comedy and combines both perfectly. What I especially like is the look of the world and the design of the characters. The anime is simply wholesome, and either you like the look of it or you don’t. For me, it’s the former; I can’t describe how incredibly much I’ve fallen in love with the anime. An absolute recommendation!
PS: (My favorite characters are Death the Kid and Excalibur)

I love Soul Eater to death, and my initial rating was higher, but I feel like there are a lot of plot holes, and things it just glazes over that need to be more in-depth. I also felt like they introduced some characters like they would be in the plot a lot more than they were, and I found myself missing main characters a lot too. I haven't read the manga, though I plan to eventually and gradually, so I don't know if these problems are fixed there or not, but even with it's issues, this show was so good I can't bring to give it anything less than an 8.
Take all of this with a grain of salt because it's a lot easier pointing out faults than it is to sound like a broken record saying how good this show was. Probably doesn't matter anyway tho since this fandom is kinda dead and no one's gonna…

Soul Eater has a lot of things going for it, but I think it ultimately lacks in its execution. The characters in this are pretty good, great designs and some pretty good progression. The world design and the premise is also pretty cool, I live the style and the lore. But when it tries to bring this all together into an enjoyable plot it kind of falls apart. I never found myself engaged or really caring much about what was happening in the story, and especially so leading into the anime original half it just kind of fell apart, especially at the very end. I will cut some slack on Soul Eater as a whole since this did deviate from the manga so I'll probably check it out some time to see how they compare, I just hope the manga actually goes somewhere meaningful with its story.

So! Funny backstory. When I first started getting into anime, I swore off ever watching this show SOLELY (heh) because at the time I thought Soul's character design was so incredibly repulsive, it made me write off the entire show, just like that... WAT!? Fast forward to present day and OH MY GOD!!! Watching this right after Radiant just puts it into perspective that no, not every shonen is destined to feel ultra samey or live in the shadow of your already favorite shonen, whatever it may be. This show is just GUSHING with its own signature flare in its incredibly stellar soundtrack and jaw-droppingly brilliant visuals. No other shonen looks or sounds like this and I LOVE that! One thing a lot of people praise this show for compared to other shonen is that it's relatively short. I absolute…
